Hello together,
I'm searching for the "egg-laying wool-milk-sow" (translated direct from German means "all singing and dancing") GPS BT receiver for my MDA VarioII. It should have the following features:
minimum SiRF-III Chipset
TMC receiver included
long battery durability
Static navigation possible
BT connection
"Navigon" compatible
I want to use it both for traffic navigation and by foot.
Has anyone a good hint?
Has anyone experience with the "GNS 5843"
Greetings Pudl
Mate i use the Holux GPSlim 236. Sirf iii, static nav option, good battery life and its good value. I use it with Tomtom and oziexplorer. Paired with a JASJAM its a great setup.
Scott
Holux GPSlim 240
The two Holux receiver sound very good, but the both don't have a TCM receiver. Do you know and BT GPS receiver with TCM?
Greetings Pudl
Ive got a HOLOX BT-321.....worth a look?
What's TCM
Sorry, I ment TMC. This means "traffic message channel". Over this channel you can receive the latest traffic news in europe. So you can see the actual traffic on the streets where you want to drive.

And me... my first so called BT GPS device was a pile of crap... but since getting the Holox last year I've been a happy chap sat naving everywhere
Well recommended! look on ebay for one
You should look at http://www.pocketgpsworld.com it has all sorts of reviews and GPS forums
I use the Nokia LD-3W which is also available in the T-Mobile shop. I just bought from eBay for half the price.
Apart from TMC it has all the features. And considering the quality of traffic messages in Germany I don't miss the TMC. It works perfectly with MN6, VisualGPSce, GPSTuner and so forth. And it has a removable battery - a fact worth considering...
GPS on XDA II with BTGPS74R

I have a BTGPS74R (aka Holox BT-321). It uses up to 32 satellites and works well with TomTom 6 on my XDA II. The only annoying aspect is that I have to use the MS BT stack with my Blue Ant BT earpiece and the Broadcom BT stack with TomTom.
One day I might be able to use both simultaneously ... if someone is already doing this, I'd love to know how.
Enjoy!
The best low-cost receiver we've tested lately is the new little Qstarz S1000 datalogger / Bluetooth GPS..
See:

Really nice low power 32 channel chipset with an integrated logger .. plus some nice Google Earth utilities to plot the datalogger data..
Cheers

I have used the GNS 5843 and it is very good ,especially for tmc . I used it in combination with Navigon on my trinity P3600. By the way I get more Tmc reports on P3600/ Gns 5843 than on my Navigon Ts7000!!! ........It is even better than my built in Volkswagen Navi!!!
On foot I use my P3600 without Gns 5843 as I do not need the Tmc.
Greetings
Rafiki
anyone have it care to comment?
How much I want it?
I ended up going with the MEX-BT2500. It seems like it has all the goodies I'm looking for.. Only $129!!! for Bluetooth hands-free/a2dp streaming... mp3 cd's and all those other formats... and satellite interface hookup... and the add-on XM tuner was like 29.99 after rebates and discounts... wooh!
Hope it doesn't suck ... lol
I've had a MEX-BT5000 for more than a year now, and have used it with both Wizard & Kaiser devices. Its handsfree performance is very good; better than any headset I've used. BT stereo performance is pretty good. I've had some problems with multiple programs using BT audio (e.g. nav & streaming audio), but I think that's more of a WM/device problem.
What a frustrating zoo this has been... I ended up having to cancel the order for the 2500 and go with the MEX-BT5000 instead... the 2500 didn't have any preamp outputs! That simply won't do...
Liked the BT5100 but apparently there are no firmware updates for the XM Radio adapter yet... I still need my XM as primary source of music because streaming just really isn't all that reliable all the time due to network coverage while driving...
Hope the BT5000 is good.. got it for $199 plus shipping so not too bad.

EDIT:
ahh nevermind that thing is like twice the cost lol... was looking for something in a lower price range that had all the functionality I was looking for.
Ok, looking for a TV to buy in the next few months for my GNex (Prime? GPrime?)
anyways I know Toshiba makes one for the Australian market only, but I'm in the US and I don't want to spend 2 grand on a TV
I'm looking for something with 3d and web enabled features (streaming netfilx and pandora and hulu and all that crap) along with being somewhat on the cheap side.
Vizio has some awesome deals for around $500-800 depending on your size (I currently own a 4 year old vizio 32"), only issue is they don't have MHL support (to my knowledge)
Is there anything available yet in what I'm looking for, or should I be waiting until CES for a million new TV's to be announced?
(I hate using janky adaptors when I could just find a TV with the capability built right in; MHL was designed to make it easier on us after all, amiright?)
Suggest you wait until CES.
What's available now...

Maybe Lengend is newest , i got my pro HD about 5,6 month ago still work great
Plantronics high end Bluetooth headsets do perfect in the city. I have the Plantronics Voyager PRO HD bluetooth. And the one I want is Plantronics Voyager PRO Legend Bluetooth. They are awesome in the noisy city to filter out the noise around for them to hear you and you to hear them clearly as if you are right next to them. You can also hear anything and everything from your Android device, including music, Google Voice, Google Maps, even notifications through these Bluetooth headsets. They even allow your device speakers to work when you are not wearing them. And you can answer your call just by putting these Bluetooth headsets on. You also can use their Android app (Find MyHeadset) to find your Bluetooth headsets if you lose them. I tried them out in the nosiest area in SF and it was just like I was next to the person that I was talking on my Android device through my Voyager PRO HD Bluetooth. Nothing else I tried can even get close to do that.
A little big they are, but I would not leave home without my Android device (now Galaxy Note 2) and one of these Bluetooth headsets.
on ebay I am finding Pro HD and Pro HD+ .... any idea on the difference?

Check if there are different model number , but i think both same.
Plantronics Voyager PRO Legend is newer and has some good improvements over Plantronics Voyager PRO HD. But as you can see with the satisfied customers of Plantronics Voyager PRO HD here, you will not go wrong with either Bluetooth headset.
thanks guys, will definitely be investing in either one of them in the next week or so, the Pro HD i found cheap on ebay, under $40, but the Legend, cheapest is like 90 so i rather pay the extra $10 and get directly from plantronics themselves :-/ If i can get it for about $60, that would be great

I don't believe there is such a model as Plantronics Voyager PRO HD+. There is a package deal, Plantronics Voyager PRO UC, that has Plantronics Voyager PRO HD and Voyager PRO HD USB Adapter for your computer.
There is Plantronics Voyager PRO+ an older version that doesn't have as good quality sound as Plantronics Voyager PRO HD. Plantronics Voyager PRO+ has one year free Plantronics Vocalyst™ voice service while the even older version Plantronics Voyager PRO doesn't have.
Basically Plantronics Voyager PRO+ and Plantronics Voyager PRO are both retired bluetooths.
The current versions are Plantronics Voyager PRO HD and Plantronics Voyager PRO Legend.

Black friday , Comp USA in store Plantronics Voyager Pro HD 49.99.
I have a rooted GS3 running stock ROM, android v 4.1.1 and I'm looking for a gamepad for a long time.
The gamepad MUST be attachable to the phone in some way (for example the steelseries controller is just a controller, it can't attach to the phone).
I'm going to use it mostly for emulators, but it would be nice if it could play GTA3, #Sworcery, Another World and Bard's Tale (don't care too much if it doesn't).
I also want it to be compatible with a PC, and have 2 analog sticks.
The best one I could find is PhoneJoy, but I can't find where to buy/order one since the kickstarter ended.
I've also read very good stuff about the Gametel, but unfortunately it lacks analog sticks. I wouldn't mind too much, since the play station one doesn't really need analogs, but since I plan on using it on my pc also, most modern games use both analogs...
The one I wanted to buy is the Moga Pro, but the shipping to Europe is ridiculous (70$ for shipping and 50$ for the controller, more than the controller itself just to carry it on a damn plane!?). Also, it's not confirmed to work with a PC, and has some issues with non market games (my version of Another World and #Sworcery is from Humble Bundle, not Google Play)
My other option is to wait for Samsung's gamepad, after the launch of GS4, but it costs 110$, which may very well translate to 100€, an amount I consider not worth it for any kind of controller.
There is also the iPega controller, but I know it has issues, as well as lag, and other controllers that even though they are good, they have nothing to attach the phone to (steelseries free, evolution drone, Nyko Gamepad).
I also do not own a PS3 and don't want to buy a controller for 50€ and then pay another 40$ for the gameklip (cause of shipping costs).
Any ideas?
PS Sorry for no links, I can't, new user.
I use the Moga game pad (not the new pro gamer one) and its perfect for my needs. I use it with GBA,SNES,Genesis,Etc emulators.... it also works good with most other games I tried... but the unofficial moga universal driver is a must. Makes the G SIII a great hand held system. I got mine from amazon for about 30 dollars USD.
Sent from my Sprint Galaxy S III, from the one and only: Comando156 (yes I know there are supposed to be two m's)
Just received the new MOGA Pro and as a previous user of the Moga Pocket I can say the PRO is awesome and way better! More like an xbox 360 controller with additional joystick...l2 r2 triggers....l3 r3 clickable joysticks...feels fantastic in hand...light. Has two modes A and B with B eliminating need for the Moga driver app to use for emulators. Best part is it is rechargeable!! The only Con is sticking it in my pocket lol...it is big. Hence why the older smaller controller is now called MOGA pocket.
