wow they charge double what people sell amoleds for on ebay. Wish I could find SLCD on ebay 120.00 is way to much to pay.

I agree, it is rather costly. It's the only place I've seen the part listed. That said, I haven't specifically gone looking for it either.

For 120 he would be better off getting a bricked one on ebay our hell he could get a full working one for that.

[Q] Cracked Screen: Do i need screen or digitizer?

Ive read its easy to replace it yourself and much cheaper.
So how do I know which one I need? Is there a difference or are they the same thing?
Has anyone here done this?
Where did you buy from? Amazon?

I had issues replacing the screen and digitizer my self I cracked the lcd display when trying to pull it out. i bought a combo from ebay and for $45 and broke it found a place on craigslist that fixed it locally for $75 the videos on youtube make it look easier than it was. but that was me I would encourage to do your research and have a back up plan.
youtube has great videos on how to do it yourself. Also there are two different screens one with a wide conect and one with a narrow one. Make sure which one you have first if it is the screen. The digitizers all have the same conector

LCD Screen Broken...

My girlfriend shattered the Digitizer and LCD in her phone. I've figured out I have the Sony SLCD version.
Now does anyone know a good place to get a replacement one. I've searched on Google and everything is north of $70. If that's what I have to pay so be it.
So what I am really asking does anyone know of anywhere online I can purchase the Sony SLCD for a cheaper price?
Any help is appreciated thank you.
Not sure but you may try your luck on Ebay. Maybe get a used phone for cheaper than that part, or perhaps a "parts unit" as long as it hasn't been destroyed.
Check eBay I found it for $10 for the touch screen and $64.99 for the lcd. Both have free shipping.

I have to replace my screen as well on my Galaxy Nexus (See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474979), so I was wondering if you could give me a recap on GoUnlock.com:
Did the replacement part work? Was shipping time acceptable? Were they shady?
reference about GoUnlock.com?

I'm also looking for reference about GoUnlock.com because I need to replace my digitizer. Anyone can say anything good or bad about them?
Btw Zathman, just in case, make sure you really want to change the full "LCD + Digitizer" package, which afaik is usually expensive. Maybe only the "touchscreen glass (digitizer)" is damaged, while the "displaying device (LCD)" that is behind could still be working fine (that is my case). LCD+Digitizer ~ $250, Digitizer only is ~$50.
found this online

They had samsung replace it.
Only 163, and they do all the work, plus shipping.
Sounds pretty good.

Well, I guess it depends. For the RAZR some online shops seems to have sold it in the past, although now they are all out of stock (maybe there are a lot of RAZR screen broken... don't know).
Try searching for "digitizer" and the phone model on ebay, and google...
Aren't the glass and digitizer glued together in the nexus? If so, you have to get both. Only phones where they're separate can you swap digitizer separately.
bow chicka wow wow.

Yes they are fused together in this phone, you can't get them separately. But hey on the plus side, no screen dust leakage!
Has anyone found a decent guide on replacing this screen? I've been looking all morning and found a few teardowns but nothing concrete. I have a cracked screen on my nexus and have a whole nother nexus i'm going to use as a replacement...
Thanks.

Where to replace Screen?

Hello, I'm trying to find somewhere that can replace my Nexus's screen at a reasonable price.
The screen is not broken, just has a few scratches...I hate scratches.
So if someone could kindly point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated!

Hate to tell you but your best options are to get a screen protector that does a decent job of covering up the scratches, or sell it as is and get another one with no scratches. The screen assembly for these phones is 150-200 and dont know of anyone that just replaces the digitizer at a reasonable price. (since it is almost impossible to separate the lcd from the digitizer) You should be able to get a fair amount for your Nexus even with a few scratches so if I were you , I would sell it and get another one but your call. Good luck!

what about this?

I really don't know the quality or if it's original or not, but it's cheap and may worth a try.

Thank you for the reply, I thought that'd be the case but just needed a second opinion.
I've seen Nexus on craigslist for $150 with no scratches.
I'll try to sell my old one on ebay for $120 or something.

Ya, but the digitizer is really hard to remove from the screen itself. I checked with all the local repair shops, they all say the same thing.
...But thanks for checking

Are you sure you are looking at the Galaxy Nexus and not the Nexus S's or the Nexus' ones? I know this phone has depreciated quite a bit recently but 120 is awfully cheap for this phone. On Craigslist in Toronto here they are going for 350-400.
Ya, they're Verizon Galaxy Nexus, you can find many phones pretty cheap here in Texas Craigslist if they're more than a year old.
ebay is another story though.

What is the word on eBay replacement screens?

Hi all,
I broke my SGS2 screen recently. I saw there is a very extensive tutorial to replace it.
However, I am puzzled at the offer on eBay. Prices go from around 100$ to 200$ for (allegedly) the same thing.
I can only guess that not all parts offered are genuine, even though they have Samsung written on the front.
AFAIK Samsung is the only one who knows how to produce SAMOLED+ screens so if those replacement are not genuine they should be LED I guess?
Can anyone comment on that? Are the 100$ assemblies (screen + glass) cheap knockoffs with LCD screens or are they as good as the original screen?
Thanks!
