I have did some searching everywhere in the Epic 4G threads and didn't find anything to help me.
I recently just flashed to SRF 1.2, and wiped all data 3 times each. Everything seems to be running smoothly, but there is one problem. When I slide the keyboard open the screen orientation does not switch to landscape. Only in the homescreens it won't switch, but when I open my email or msging app it will switch to landscape, even with auto-rotate turned off. I have gone through the Display settings and all the settings in spare parts, and even looked through the Galaxy tuner but then uninstalled it thinking it was the problem, but still no help.
Anybody have a clue as to why my screen orientation won't switch to landscape when I slide the keyboard open?
I am also using the Twilight Kernel for a few months now since flashing the SRF roms, so I don't think that would be the issue?
What launcher are you using? Adw?
cd's or tapes?
I'm using Launcherpro. I have also gone through those settings as well.

Make sure the persistent setting is turned offin lp settings, and have auto rotate turned on for lp, then it'll do what you want.

It was indeed the auto rotate setting in launcher pro. Thanks for the help!

I think Cyan's Rom allows that. Not sure otherwise. Do you use Spare Parts? It might have that option too.

hmmm wierd i dont see anything that only turns off homescreen auto rotate either, either you can turn if off completely or you can't kinda sucks, gets kinda annoying to wait for it to go back to portrait everytime you take it out of the pocket.

LOL thanks u saved my day
Occasionally my app drawer disappears and doesn't come back even when I restart adw. I have to reboot. Any way around this?

Seems like you activated the hidden feature with a gesture. On the launcer [or where it should be] move you finger up and down as close to the bottom of the screen as you can. Its a quick motion too.
Hidden feature? IT WORKED! Now how do I turn it off? Lol
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
It's called the dock bar, turn it off in ADW settings.
(or use it as a second "launcer" bar)
I always wondered about that. Every time that happened to me is just refresh or reapply the theme.
Evo 4g
Vaelpak 3.2 RC2
Thanks dudes lol. I didn't wanna scrap the cm7 greatness for some fault of my own/adw.

Glad we could help.
I'm so excited. Haven't been THIS excited about the phone since I first got it.

Easiest fix:
When it disappears tap and hold screen, launcher actions, choose open/close dock bar.
It will fix your issue.
This adw feature drives me nuts, I immediately turn that ish off lol. I hate the gestures/swipe down actions.

Just some questions, My phone is somehow always set on Auto rotate even when the selection for it is off. I was wondering If any, most likely, if anyone has had this small but annoying issue before? One more thing about the phones flash is that just a bug with this build? or can it be fixed via user?
Thanks for the listen
There is a great Q&A thread for CM9 here that has lots of helpful people in it. Plus you should make your title an actual question.
With that said did you turn off auto-rotate in all 3 places?

Very helpful thread I didn't see the one in Accessibility but still after enabling all rebooting then turning them off, this screen continues to auto rotate. I don't know what could be wrong? is there a way to block it using the terminal emulator?

Settings>accessibility>auto rotate screen.
Also are you using the stock launcher? If not does your launcher have a rotate setting?
Couldn't find any threads discussing this, sorry if this has already been asked but as a new user I can't post in dev forums yet so hopefully this is the appropriate locale for the time being.
Loving the MindTrick rom first off. My question is regarding the auto-rotate function. As in other versions you can leave the homescreen locked so it doesn't rotate but you're still able to do so using the web browser... is there a way to do this in MindTrick?

Home screen is controlled by the launcher. Try a different launcher. Apex will not rotate the home screen by default.

Thanks ! That worked, P.S. if anyone cares that doesn't already know, if you lock your homescreen w/Apex it causes instability/crashes with JMT

ldd_recoil,
Did you try flashing the NoLockScreenRotate.zip from CWM? I removed the lock screen rotation that way. That zip file is on the OP of ptmr3's JMT thread.
This change is permanent and can't be reverted AFAIK. Do it from CWM.
I don't see why you can't just toggle auto rotation off to solve your problem....

Well, that's one way to fix it... I rarely like rotating because it's so freggin sensitive on our phones.
But for some people that rotate a lot... say browsing a webpage rotated, and their phone goes to sleep, it's rather a nuisance seeing the lockscreen on its side (imho)
I will upload a zip that stops it from rotating the lock screen if you would like

I would appreciate that thanks for your help. I am using Apex now, but lockscreen still rotates, and yes is very sensitive... bad news when trying to answer a call from your pocket sometimes.
The reason I can't just "shutoff" auto rotate is because I still use it in web browsing, in fact that was my original question.... Other Roms/OS's I've had have let me choose which ones rotate without having to constantly switch on/off
Ok I wish I could upload through my phone but I don't know how to so I will tonight

To add to this, some launchers override the system settings, so if you're using a custom launcher, try going into it's preferences and enable auto rotate.
