Occasionally my app drawer disappears and doesn't come back even when I restart adw. I have to reboot. Any way around this?

Seems like you activated the hidden feature with a gesture. On the launcer [or where it should be] move you finger up and down as close to the bottom of the screen as you can. Its a quick motion too.
Hidden feature? IT WORKED! Now how do I turn it off? Lol
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
It's called the dock bar, turn it off in ADW settings.
(or use it as a second "launcer" bar)
I always wondered about that. Every time that happened to me is just refresh or reapply the theme.
Evo 4g
Vaelpak 3.2 RC2
Thanks dudes lol. I didn't wanna scrap the cm7 greatness for some fault of my own/adw.

Glad we could help.
I'm so excited. Haven't been THIS excited about the phone since I first got it.

Easiest fix:
When it disappears tap and hold screen, launcher actions, choose open/close dock bar.
It will fix your issue.
This adw feature drives me nuts, I immediately turn that ish off lol. I hate the gestures/swipe down actions.

im using cyanogen mod 6.1 and sometimes my ADW dock just completely disappears until i reboot.
wtf?
The dock will hide itself if you swipe down. You can disable this feature in settings/ADW launcher/ui settings/dockbar
Sent from my CyanogenMod Vision
Did you check your setting in CM 6.1 there's a setting for swipe up brings up the dock bar , swipe up again and it hides it. Also swipe down brings up the app drawer. But only if you check the boxes in the setting.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
had it enabled. oops. hahaha
thanks for the help guys.
you can also just swipe up and re-enable it
I have made mine disappear 5 times, and no up swiping ever brings it back. Have to reset it.
Haha man i had the same exact "problem." When I first used adw lmfao

So I accidentally dragged a app shortcut onto the main button that brings up my app drawer... how do I undo this? I feel EXTREMELY stupid, but I cannot find how to revert it back...
Menu > Add or long press on homescreen > Custom Shortcut > Pick your activity > Launcher Actions > Choose open/close App Drawer. When it's on the homescreen, just drag it to shortcut bar.
Sweet Jesus, thank you. I figured out what the Swipe actions were for so as a work around had Swipe Up set to the app drawer... thanks!
What in the world are you talking about? Im trying to do what you said and i cant replace the app drawer. I know you can hold the app drawer for a few sec and drag up and place you apps at the bottom. (I perfer that settup

As stated above, the latest ADW Launcher allows you to not only put four applications at the bottom, but it allows you to replace the app drawer button with a shortcut to any app as well. I was use to dragging apps to the bottom to "trash" them, but the latest CM nightlys have the trash button at the top. So when I dragged an app to what I thought would be the trash, it replaced my app drawer button.
Ha, I did the same thing a few weeks ago. Couldn't figure it out so I went back and did a fresh install. Cue facepalm.

I've been running stable for 3 or 4 days now (it used to be my phone, but I gave it to a friend, who wanted me to update it for him and then test it) and I've had about the same battery life I did running CM 6.1-RC1. A little more or less depending on daily usage.
As for the ADW thing, I've done it about half a dozen times now on the MTS and the G2 (as in, a piece). I don't consider myself an idiot, although some speculate to the contrary, so don't feel bad.

The battery life didn't change in stable, but it's still pretty bad. I'm strongly considering going back to sense, but possibly a froyo sense, not sure yet. Cr_mod got horrible quadrant scores and was slower with a lot of things. I'm getting sick of low battery life though. if you really want good life, use a sense rom.

You are the BEST!!!!!! Thank you much
Alright so im no developer, so this is why im offering this idea up.
Personally, im starting to hate Android...Im having some serious webOS envy. I know I know, just switch, or blah blah blah. I love the whole gesture based UI. So I was wondering..on the Inc the capacitive touch layer of the screen extends down to right around the bottom of the home-menu-back-search keys. (You can see by downloading some multi-touch tester and dragging your finger down there, it will read that your Y-Position is something like 820 or something.) So right above the trackpad in the middle of the soft keys is a blank spot. Would it be possible for you to change that so there is some sort of invisible soft button, that when you swipe up or tap it launches a user specific app? I would probably put some sort of app-switcher there, or well I dont actually know. But if this is possible, it would be really freaking awesome imho. Thoughts?
have you tried using adw or launcherpro...they have gesture ui, and you can change them also...ie, cm6. sense doesn't that I know of.

Cm6 has lockscreen gestures. Haven't looked into them myself but may be a place to look...
I know those launchers have gestures but what I mean is a new soft key in the middle if the menu and back key

I remember on stock 2.1 this invisible button did something in certain apps, I can't remember what it was though.
i see what youre saying and i think itd be pretty sweet. just to have another soft button to launch messaging or something. i'd love this in a rom

Why not remap the trackpad?
I understand maybe a invisible button could be cool, but its useless. So is the track pad, but the trackpad can be remapped
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Well what if u made it to where swypeing left or right or down or up on the optical joystick opened apps of your choice while on the homescreen... or is that what were already talking about?
Well the track pad is not use less. I use it on a normal basis. Maybe for you having an invisible button would be use less but for me it would not. To each their own.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
No that's not what I was thinking of, rather the area above the track pad. That's a good half inch Of wasted space.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Oh I see, yea that is a good idea, yea I'd like to see that
The question is, what applications would you match to that area?

lolz for that.
I sound crazy asking this but is there a way anyone could take the bottom quick action buttons off to where thre isn't anything there. No phone, messaging, internet, gmail icons. I bought this quick wave launcher from the market and it pretty much makes the bottom icons useless. Or is there a launcher that takes as many of them away.

ADW Launcher (maybe it's only an ADW.EX feature, but I really doubt it). There's an option somewhere in it that lets you cut it down to zero spaces and expand the desktop.
I use it I love it
Alternatively, you can set adw to hide the dock with a gesture, in case you want to keep the buttons but dont want to look at them

Thanks guys, I'm obviously a fan of webOS from palm. I'm going to give these a try. Id be happy with just the only thing showing is the app drawer icon.

ADW can do it.
Here's what I do:
I enable the hidden dock bar and have swipe-up bring it up. Then I disable the main dock so I have more desk space. Then I tie the home button to my app drawer. It works really well.
Does anyone else miss pulling the app drawer instead of just a button?
Please move to general. Thanks

Totally forgot about that. I guess I don't miss it.
Any launchers still do it?

kinda, ya. go launcher allows you to long press on any dock button, and change its gesture. you can then make the gesture ''swipe up" and make the action "open app drawer". much less complicated than it sounds lol

Using go sms and it seems OK though

calks rom actually came with it bundled it. i like what theyve done. its faster than launcher pro, with more customizing than adw. i used to use handcent, but since i have started enjoying go launcher, havent looked back from go sms, its great! everything else, meh. oh and i like the transparent calendar app, to be used in conjunction with go launcher
