For those has problem in recording telephone conversation on SGS2 can try this patch, I am using Leomar GB 2.3.4 ROM with this CWM-patch taken from Chinese ROM. Good 2way voice quality using Ultimate Voice Recorder 2.71 other telephone recording software should work too.
Remember backup your ROM before testing in case you may get infinite loopback after flashing

Hi, 2 questions, is this not a "call recording" app itself ? and does it needs kernel support ?, thanks.

Will try it and post my experience here.. I hope this must be a addon to the phone app...
this is just the lib files you still need recording app to do the recording. You can use Cris ROM and patch with this lib. You should get clear voice conversation in the recording
I´m already recording phone calls without this hack, just installed an app (callrecorder) and its working really good, clear voice on both sides.

So, i'm about to get a new phone which MAY be an SGS2.
However i need to know if it can record calls properly, without all this external speaker bull**** ?
Currently i own SGS and its useless in this regard.
If SGS2 doesnt record properly, which of new dualcores does ?
Yes it does. Just use CallRecorder from the market.
CallRecorder works great on the S2, the quality of the sound is perfect. The downside is that when you transfer the wav. file to your laptop, the file format is not recognised.
I have downloaded some software to my pc that converts wav format to mp3 but the file is still not recognised.
Any advice please.
There seems to be quite a few CallRecorder apps on the market, could you please give a market link to the one you are referring too please.

No, it doesnt
Killer mobile have just updated their Total Recall app for android and cleared out a couple bugs, this now seems to work just fine for me. It also has the option to record in 3gp, wav, mp3, amr, plus you can auto upload to evernote or e-mail out through gmail.
Call quality is pretty good, only downside is it will not work with blue tooth head sets, correction it does work and record but you cant hear the person your talking to but the recording comes out fine lol.
Ill try the other one recommended here and see if its any better on the quality side but best thing for me with TR is you can set it to prompt at the end of the call to save or not so routine calls or family ones can be deleted without taking up space, you can also use as a dictaphone with a instant record button widget and remote sms into it to record when you have left it in a room and want to know what's been said if your feeling a little paranoid lol.
Is there any free call recorder which works without having to install new ROM?
I use stock 2.3.3 ROM and would like to continue using stock ROM.
I saw "audio hack" on forum - is it needed?
Maybe I have to upgrade to 2.3.5?
Maybe I need kernel supporting it (I use Speedmod)?
I've tried 5 programs and all of them doesn;t record anything or records silence. (dind't try TotalRecall because it isn't free).
alternatively you can try MIUI rom which comes with build in call recording. =)
I don't want MIUI, I don't want alternative ROM, I only need to know why sometimes call recording works, and sometimes doesn't. Is it ROM problem, kernel problem, lack of libraries problem?
Search forum for hacked call app it has native call recording works with any rom.

I instaled ecorder 1.0.45 alpha on my Wildfire S with a stock 2.3.5 ROM and rooted. It seems to record 2 way from line, but the other way sounds to be distorted from time to time (in call and in the recorded file).
It records the conversation only if I chose Kernel with 2-way call recording patch (even if my phone doesn't have such patch). If I chose Standards Android API, CallRecorder will generate a 0 bytes file..
Here's what I`ve done.
1. Temp rooted my wildfire s.
2. Installed CallRecorder.apk
3. Both sides recording works like a charm

In short, it doesn't work. I use stuff like this to go back when someone tells me number or gives directions .. So it's pretty important for it to work for the incoming voice and in noisy areas.

I'm pretty sure it needs to be enabled as a kernel module in order for it to function correctly. Have you tried looking at The dev sections kernels? If it's not their you could try to find a how to compile the kernel module and politely ask a kernel dev to see if they can help

Hmm. That's actually the only thing I haven't tried. Simply because I thought
it would have no impact, since BT recording DO work, but only the other part.
And since no one has ever actually confirmed that BT recording really work.

There is no separate setting to enable in the settings menu. In order to be able record calls (both sides of the conversation), you would need a rooted device. Then install XPOSED framwork. Download and activate the 'Call recording' module within the XPOSED framework. Check youtube videos on how to installed the XPOSED framework.
If done properly, you should find a call recording Icon in you CALL screen (when the call is active).
cheers.

I hope i'm not too late to answer your question.
Just wanna makes thing clearer:
If your device already rooted and already installed Xposed Installer,
then open Xposed Installer --> open "Download" section, find "Enable Call Recording" module, click on it then download. Before that, you can see in "download" section if you're already install the module or not.
After you install "Enable Call Recording" module, back to Xposed Installer menu, open "Modules" section. check the EnableCallRecording module.
then Reboot.
After that you can record your conversation manually (as far as i know). When you call someone, Record menu (with cassette icon) will active after the phone call is active (when someone you call pick up your phone call). Then you can record the converstion by touch the cassette icon.
REC files are saved in "Sounds" folder in your phone memory. The file extension is .amr

Love that application. Especially since it upload my conversations automatically in the cloud.
There are many call recording apps for Note 2
As of 2015-06 there are many free apps that record calls on Note 2.
Make sure you only have one of such apps installed, since having multiple call recording apps may cause issues and prevent those apps from recording a call.
None of these apps require a rooted Note 2. I've tested these apps on my unrooted GT-N7100.
Apps are listed here randomnly, it doesn't mean that app no.1 is better than others:
1. Call Recorder. Clever Mobile
2. Record My Call. RMC - Android Call Recorder
3. Call recorder. ViktorDegt
4. Total Recall. Call Recorder. Killer Mobile
5. Automatic Call Recorder. Appliqato
6. Call Recorder - ACR. NLL
7. Call Recorder. Boldbeast
8. callX. Automatic Call Recorder. SMSROBOT LTD
Personally I liked callX the most. I record to .mp3 using High quality settings. Sound quality seems to be as good or even better than you get when using other call recording apps on Note 2.
I've been using 'Call Recorder' by skvalex for many years across many devices but it seems like it's no longer working since Pie. Tried a couple others and they're also only recording my side of the conversation only.
Is there anything out there working on non-rooted P?
auto call recorder works perfect. I think call recorder from skvalex works also.
It does not work on Android P.
[KB] Android 9 (P) Call recording issues.
There is no way to record interlocutor's audio properly at the moment. You can use Loud speaker to record both side. All call recording apps will be same., This is not limitation of ACR but Android 9 and the phone.

I think you misunderstood me. It might be acceptable for you or someone else. However,cCall is recorded from the earpiece speaker, gain applied. Real call recording is done by getting audio form Android system not from speaker. Hence, it is not real call recording.
