Help me please, will not flash or read PC36IMG - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It all started when i was transferring file from my computer to the sd card thru the usb and they kept deleting on there own. So i figured ill do a factory reset and reflash decks 1.2, so i did the factory reset then tried to flash the rom and it keeps aborting and it says (bad), i tried flashing three roms and nothing, so then i tried doing a PC36IMG thru the bootloader and it does not seem to read the file nothing comes up to do an update PLEASE HELP
I did put the nand backup on the sd and tried doing a restore but them dots in ra just kept going for like 45mins never stoped

For your first problem, the download was bad, so try it again, or directly from your phone. If using a mac, you need to use a browser that isn't safari. As for the backup, it may be corrupted, you can always re flash the recovery. And make sure you do not have more than one PC36IMG file on your sd card.
This epic reply brought to you by none other than my roxx'd out Evo.

There is a possibility that your SD card needs to be reformatted. Copy the contents of the card to your computer or external hard disk and then, using your recovery (preferably amonRA v2. 3), go to the wipe menu and wipe EVERYTHING in it. Afterwards, do not reboot. Simply connect your device to your computer and then select the USB-MS option within recovery. When your computer recognizes the card, copy only the rom onto it. Select the USB-MS option again to disengage. Now flash the rom.

Huge Problem - Please Help Anyone! NO SD or USB STUCK

Earlier today I flashed to a new rom and wanted to revert back using a nandroid backup - i tried to move my backups into clockwork folder so I could use clockwork recovery and thats when all hell broke loose
I ended up getting in an endless reboot and when I went into recovery my SD card wouldn't mount. I tried EVERYTHING including the RUU.exe - but no luck it wouldn't complete, SO I was able to add the PC36.IMG (or whatever the exact spelling is) to the SD and it restored that (I used the newest one Toast posted in the 2nd step rooting thread)
Now finally I'm back into android but I have no SD or USB support and again stuck.. Now when I try to reboot recovery I can't even use the update.zip because my phone can't mount the SDCARD within recovery or android. So now I have no idea what to do... Can anyone help? Should I try the RUU.exe on the computer again now that I'm back in android? I don't know if it will work because it seems I have no USB support - I can't ADB or anything.
My vote is you corrupted your SD card, and that it needs to be formatted. Reboot in to Flipz's recovery; There is an option in there to format and partition the SD card. Or, if you have a MicroSD card reader that you can use with your computer, pop it in there and I betchya the computer can't read it either. Format it with your computer as FAT32.
make sure usb debugging is enabled and RUU will work.

Error mounting SD Card

I've decided to try a new rom today, Iceandfire v1.6. I was previously using sense ginger and just thought I'd try something new since I was bored and curious. I downloaded the rom and gapps and booted into recovery. I wiped data/format and cache aswell as dalvik. I installed from SD card the iceandfire and gapps and reboot the phone. Upon the first boot I got an error saying "Damaged SD card" and suggested I format. So I clicked yes to format but that did nothing at all and just gave me another Damaged SD Card error.
So I said, "OK then, my phone doesn't get along with this ROM, I'll just go back to sense ginger." Rebooted into recovery, started a full wipe again, only this time it gave the error "unable to mount /sdcard/ .android_secure!" and said failed to wipe. So I thought "HMMM!!!" and reboot the phone back into iceandfire rom and wanted to try mounting my card to PC to try formatting that way. I clicked mount and it has been loading since I started writing this post up until about 5 seconds ago and just went back to the previous "Turn on USB storage" screen.
Now I'm out of ideas....If I can't format or mount the SD card, what can I do??
EDIT: As it turns out, the iceandfire rom I flashed turned out to be for the Milestone. I found it in the G2 forum and thought it was for the G2! I thought milestone was part of the ROM name...So I flashed a rom that wasn't made for my phone and now I can't mount SD card. Any solution?
EDIT 2: Was able to wipe the sd card completely, to be honest, I'm not entirely sure how. I put my SD card in another android phone, got the same damaged sd card error, put the card back into my phone, wiped data, successful wipe, went to flash a previous rom, said no files found. mounted the sd card to PC, NO files at all on sd card. Downloading new rom now and will try to flash. Perhaps this thread could help somebody else who might have similar problem. Will edit again once I've tried flashing.
EDIT 3: Unsuccessful. I downloaded MIUI and flashed. It happened to be the only file on SD card after transferring. When I installed it, it just instantly installed, so...it didn't install. So I reboot and now it's gone back to the previous rom, even after wiping data. So perhaps I'm missing some core files? I have NO idea. Should I only need a rom like MIUI for it to work? I honestly don't know. Now that I've rebooted into recovery, there are two new folders on the SD card, lost.dir and Android. I'm formatting again and going to try to flash MIUI again. - It gives the error "Can't open MIUI.zip (bad)". Trying to download "Stock Gingerbread" rom. Will update.
EDIT 4: Once again, unsuccessful. Perhaps I'm overlooking something? Tried two different roms, neither will flash. Atleast I'm able to access my SD card. Does the root apply to internal memory or SD card? I could put a specific rom on my brothers SD card and flash it through there? Perhaps that'll replace the necessary files I might be missing (if that's the case). Please somebody help me. I know this is a lengthy thread, it's just I've tried to provide the most details I could.
EDIT 5: All is well. I used sd card from another phone to install a new rom. Everything is working now.

Half-Bricked phone?

So I've got a bit of a weird situation here. I was doing a nandroid backup today in preperation of updating to the newest version of Cy mod and at the end it failed. I let it time out and reboot on its own.
After that point my phone was completely borked. The phone will get stuck in a boot loop (black to htc logo, to black over and over) if it's not connected to a computer, however if it's connected via usb it'll boot up into Android.
If it's not connected though, I can get into fast boot, but if I try to get to recovery from there it will get stuck in a boot loop (unless, oddly enough, it is connected via usb to a computer at the time, it seem to have no trouble booting if connected via usb).
Even so, if I do have it connected via usb and manage to boot into android or the bootloader it cannot mount the SD card. I've confirmed that the SD card is properly seated, but do not have the ability to test out other sd cards.
Even more weird is that WiFi and Bluetooth now suddenly will refuse to start up. They worked just fine before I attempted to do the nandroid backup.
And even wierder still, earlier today, after the whole phone went to **** but before now, USB debugging would still work in android but now it will refuse to work, so I can't even adb into it while it's booted. I also, for some reason, can't seem to adb into it while it's in fastboot either.
Basically, right now I have no sd card, and apparently no ability to adb into the phone, it'll boot loop if started without being connected to a pc, but will boot to android if it is connected.
I can still download things from the phone's browser, and I have access to the terminal on the phone. Can this be fixed or am I pretty much boned?

Rom: CyanogenMod 7.0.3.1
Kernel: 2.6.37.4
Recovery: Rom Manager
Unfortunately I'm really not in a position to change any of those things unless you can come up for a solution to fix the sd card or my problems connecting with ADP, or if I can somehow flash it with the terminal while in android proper.
ROM Manager is not a recovery, it's an app, which makes me think you have CWM.
Since you can boot up while connected and you can get into fastboot (Can you get into Hboot?), I'd drop the PC36IMG for Amon Ra onto your SD Card via a card reader, then boot up by using Vol Down \ Power and when it scans and asks to update, hit yes. then try to get into recovery.
If that fails, you may need to reformat your card, again via a card reader, then run the RUU for your phone and try to flash recovery again.

Yeah, sorry I meant CWM, I had a brain fart there.
I cannot mount the SD card. Even if I had a card reader to put that stuff on it I wouldn't be able to use it to update from it, although, maybe the drivers that fastboot run from were unaffected by whatever screwed up my phone, so it might be able to update if I grab a card reader. I'll try this and report back.
Also, I have no issues getting into CWM when my phone is hooked up to my computer via usb, it just will not mount the sd card.
You don't need to mount the SD Card if Hboot will see the file on it.
Okay, here's the deal. Hboot will see a pc36img.zip. It'll load it up, check it, and then won't give me the option to update from it.
Yes I have the engineering hboot (0.76.2000)
If it's any help, I think this all started when I was doing a nandroid backup and the sd card ran out of space.
Is it possible to update an RUU from my computer without using adb?

First thing you're going to need to do is clear some space off your SD card.
Check on the root of it and see if you have any files with "qxdm" in the name. If so, you can use the SD Card fix from here to get your SD card mounted again (you have to be connected to a PC in fastboot mode, with the correct drivers installed, for it to work).
It sounds like your partitions are out of whack, so you really need to flash your misc partition, and that may normalize your device. Problem is, you need working adb to do that. If you can't get into recovery, then that won't work. Can you boot up your device at all? Is it recognized at all over USB? If not, as long as it'll stay on and it's rooted, you can use Wireless ADB to flash the misc partition. I did it here.
When cleaning up your sd check the LOST.DIR folder it may be several gb's and you can just erase the whole folder its similar to the recycle bin on windows and can be safely emptied if its full as it is mostly incomplete or partial files that are created during sd scan on boot and/or created if you unplug the phone from your pc with out properly disconnecting the storage first by right clicking the drive and clicking eject usb drive

Someone please please help!! I think i just lost everything!

Ok I have made the stupidest and idiotic attempt to upgrade from 4.0.4 to 4.1 jelly bean on GSM Galaxy Nexus.
Basically, my phone was already rooted and unlocked, so I made a nandroid copy and off I went into recovery mode, trying to install the yakju zip file to manually update the firmware.
After I installed it and rebooted, it seems like it wasn't installed on some sort of internal storage that was only 66mb and I have lost my SD card and no user settings can be saved onto it. I realised this because if I went into recovery mode again and reboot normally, I will have to go through the initial setup all over again!!! At this point, if I tried to go back to nandroid copy, I could have done so easily.
BUT I made the mistake of trying to wipe all user data again and now everything on my SD card has been wiped out, including my nandroid copy and the ability to restore my nandroid back up!!! So if i tried to flash clockwork recovery image and restore, there is nothing in there for me to restore.... and I don't have access to the 13gb SD storage from phone or computer!!
Someone please help??!! At least I just want my old ICS system back!

I'm not sure if this will work but it's the first thing I'd try.
You seem to have wiped your internal SD card so I would try to use an undelete tool like "Recuva" from your PC. Reboot the phone and skip any setup options - you want to minimise the writing of anything onto your internal SD card so hopefully the nandroid backup file won't be overwritten.
Plug the phone into your PC and mount the internal SD card as a drive on your PC and then run Recuva on it.
Good luck.

THanks for your reply, but my SD card is completely lost now, So if I tried to take a photo, it won't let me because it says that I don't have an external storage............

[Q] no OS and ROM zip files corrupted on external SD!

While on the below thread .. I eventually ended up making my TWRP to format my data, system, cache, as well as internal storage!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46522379&postcount=364
Now it is all gone. successfully.
Note, when i formatted the internal storage - it did ask me to restart to update the partition tables. I did that. I warned me that there is no OS. I went ahead and restarted in recovery. I could browse using TWRP->advanced->file manager and see the zips on external sd card.
I had gapps and rom zip files copied on external SD card. When I try to flash those in TWRP, it throws an error - E: unable to open zip file!
Now I can not flash any of those! there is no OS also on the phone! I suspect that the external SD card is corrupt! I have good zip files on my computer (it has no working sd card reader).
Is there any way, i can transfer these zip files from my computer to phone's internal storage from where i can flash them?
please help!

There's no way to effectively access internal SD without having been mounted first.
But there are two ways you can do this.
1. Take the MicroSD Card and insert into the PC via Card Readers. Then copy the zip files there. Properly eject the card from PC then insert it into the phone. Now TWRP will recognize the files and flash them. If it still does not then its a bad download so download again. Also while there, get the MD5 values as well for your zip files. This allows the recovery to validate the files. If you still have errors then roll back TWRP to version 2.5.0.0
2. Put phone in download mode. Use Odin on PC to flash one of the rooted stock roms. After that, proceed to re-download on phone and try again.
P.S. - I typically never let Recovery to format my external card. Then the file system issues start popping up.
EDIT - I noticed from your other post that your PC does not have a working SD Card Slot. In that case, you could put the card in another phone and then copy the files to this sd card and then use that way.

How do I flash CM or MIUI ROM using odin? I am trying to search the forums but unable to find anything! odin needs a tar file and all these roms come with zip file! What do I do?
You can't unless the dev specifically made an Odin flashable version, which they never do. Flash the stock root66 firmware with odin.
You can't access the internal storage simply because it's not there anymore. When you chose to format data, it completely wiped out the /data partition. Your internal sd is really located at /data/media, but until you can reboot, this won't be recreated.
I doubt the external sd is corrupt or you would've seen issues before your wiping frenzy. But you can use adb while in recovery to connect the phone to your computer. Search for adb sdk install guide, or similar.
Best option now is to try Odin flashing the root66 firmware.
Oh, and you probably know by now, but never format system! This should only be a last resort type thing imo. Never understood why people recommend it for things like prepping for a Rom flash. The Rom will format system during install anyway.

I used this
http://apcmag.com/how-to-unroot-your-galaxy-s3-and-flash-it-back-to-stock-rom.htm
and got the stock rom back. appeared like that was the only way to get back to running system. Now it's alright.
to my surprise, following problems disappeared.
1. The SD card no more automatically ejects!
2. battery lasts longer!
3. no random reboots at all!
never thought .. i would feel good getting back to stock rom !
Isn't that exactly what we were telling you to do in the first place though? Use odin to flash stock/root66 firmware? I think you just took the long way is all. I also have all that firmware hosted so people could download it much faster than by using sammobile or samsung-updates hotfile downloads.
Either way though, glad you got it running again!
Just posting so others know if they come across this in the future.

yes guru! you said it.
I tried adb route too ... but for some reason it never detected my device. I tried removing, installing drivers, getting sdk and all. then tried the odin route.
Now will stay with this rom for some days ... before I get back to MIUI ... want to see it working ... for some reason it was continuously making my phone reboot! now that it is a clean slate, i hope this time, it will work!
fingers crossed!
If you want to try adb again for anything in the future, there's a different driver pkg that would probably help there. Adb universal drivers. Theyre in my driver repo with the rest if you ever need them.

just copy the zip file on your phone storage
