[Q] HTC Sensation battery on HTC Desire? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm wondering if the Sensation battery or EVO 3D battery is compatible with HTC Desire? Because sensation and evo 3d has approximately 1700mAh-1800mAh. There are a lot of battery for Desire and they claims that they are better than stock Desire 1400 mAh. But afaik they aren't as good enough as stock battery.

Would be good if it works. Is it same size desire?

I don't know, I saw the pictures only, and it looks same. Maybe someone has sensation or evo 3d here.

i would like to know this aswell.

We are talking about oem batteries here, whereas that site compares oem to the third party.

Seems like no one can test. Maybe i will get a sensation battery and try out

Just checked, it won't fit. Contact groups are on different sides.

Nice

Great...

Aww... Is there any higher capacity genuine htc battery from other phones (such as desire s) that could be used for desire?

I was searching recently for a high (or at least higher) capacity battery the other day.. Late last week I ended up ordering a 3000mAH battery, just waiting for it to arrive.
For people not wanting to have a thicker phone (thicker batteries come with new back covers to accommodate the size), there was one 1800mAH battery I found on eBay that fits without needing to have a larger back cover. Have a look here. Seller ships world-wide too...

I guess it will not work...bigger capacity = bigger size

You're referring to the battery in the link I posted...? I emailed the seller to ask the other day because they sell it without a back cover. The reply I got back stated that the battery is the same size as the original battery, so the original back cover will still fit.
Correction: The reply stated the battery is only a tiny bit thicker (I just went to double check) and doesn't need a new back cover. From what I can see looking at my phone, even if the battery is 3mm or 4mm thicker it should still fit without any problem.
Edit: More confirmation of the size... Same battery on OBOstore.com, in the description it says: "100% fit size (same as original)" as well as "100% Fit for original chargers and your devices". You have to love the Chinese, not only for their dirt cheap spare parts for everything under the sun, but also for their very special grammar...

...and half the battery capacity what they promised.

Never had any problems with the cheap, high capacity batteries for either my really old IMate JAM or my even older IMate SP5... Both of those were bought online and originated in China.
The SP5 battery was same size as original with a slightly higher capacity, went from 1050mAH to 1300mAH with the original case. It just made the phone slightly heavier, but not bigger.

I read in this thread that we can use Sensation batteries on DHD. Would be awesome if I could use Mugen's 1950mAh Sensation batteries man.

Highest capacity battery to fit with stock door?

I really want the max power but the main reason is I still want to use the stock battery door. I need it to fit on my bike mount and if it's any thicker it won't fit. A quick search came up with this.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003XOUM12/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/175-5362534-7898168
I've seen allot of different battery threads but most are for thicker extended. I'll probably get one of those too but for now I need something stock sized with the most battery life.

if you can wait, I'd get the ones off ebay. They are cheaper and last for quite a while. Galileo ones

That's what I was thinking ^
And I don't think there are any batteries that have more mah's then stock. They're all lying. I have galilios and they claim 2000 mah but I read online they're actually 1300 which is less then stock.
But they make life so much easier and better. So don't worry about what mah they are as long as they come with a extended charger. You'll be happily fine
Gimme a couple a days to come up with a new sig that is cool.

I just bought the one posted in this link here. They havent arrived yet but are these ones suppose to be the real deal? Actual 1900. They are actual HTC batterys so they probably are hopefully?
Edit- i read all the reviews ( well 20-30 ) of them and it seems its a 75% chance they are good batterys. Other 25% is dead on arrival. Wont receive 2 batterys or that the batterys stop holding a charge after just 2-3 months. Well see! Oh they arnt HTC actual brand. My bad!
I bought some off eBay that were HTC branded 1800 mAh that fit perfect with the stock cover. Not a huge difference, but it was worth it. I've had them for about 5 months now and they're both still going strong.

2430MAH HIGH CAPACITY battery

Anyone got one of theses? dont know if I want to buy one, it doesn't need a back case
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2430MAH-HIGH-CAPACITY-BA-S410-GOLD-BATTERY-HTC-DESIRE-/190540676706?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2c5d1bfe62#ht_2218wt_1139
Given that it's advertised as about twice the capacity of the stock battery but the same size, I'm going going with very "optimistic" ratings.
Unless they have discovered some secret new battery tech...
Mind you it is gold, that's got to be worth something!
WoW, please try this and let us know if your phone explodes ^_^

Not going to lol just wanted to see what xda members thought about it. I am looking for a bigger battery but dont want the back case lol
Can you even get a bigger MaH?
Not in this form factor. Even those Mugen batteries are lower quality than oem one, they operate at 80-85% of the stated capacity while oem one operates at >95%. So for 20% greater declared capacity you would still get lower performance.
And Mugen is a respected manufacturer. Now think about crap manufactured in some household's workshop in HK and then sold on eBay
In year 1999 we had 900mAh batteries for Nokias which could last for a week or more, not to mention punishment those devices could take
In year 2011 we have 1250mAh.
So in this regard we have stagnated or even went a few steps back. Until the technology and materials used are changed, our battery life is going to suck. Back case or not

Not quite, it's just that HTCs have the ****tiest batteries known to man.
For example, my previous phone was a nokia 5800. It had a stock 1320mah battery, which was actually smaller in size than the one the desire has.
I replaced that battery with a 1900mah one from ebay (same physical size as stock) and standby times jumped from 3 days to 5. So some of them DO work.

I had the nokia 5800, well still do battery life on that phone is great anyway, but it is alot less powerful. I have seen a 1900mah battery on ebay, might try that one out. isn't the htc desire battery 1400mah?
Don't get this battery. I checked the negative ratings for that seller on eBay and they sell non-genuine stuff as genuine. One rating also was concerning that special battery, where the original HTC Desire Battery lasts longer than this one.

Gold 2450mAh battery from ebay

Just wanted to report in with my experience of these large capacity batteries.
I purchased 2 of them along with a generic external charger and they are far better than the stock ones.
Currently been going for 48 hours and still at 25%. I was struggling to get 12 hours out of the stock battery.
They seem like reasonable quality and for around 10AUD each they are decent value. They fit under the stock cover too which is a bonus.
Anyone else using these?

I bought 1 too, thinking it was only a stock battery or a cheaper one with beautiful wrapping and it surprised me. Last way much longer than usual one and yes it fit under stock cover.

Thanks for this info ! Would you post some pictures of the battery itself and some of usage stats , please ?
Most likely it is fake. Recently I bought 'gold' battery for my old SE K800 from ebay. Printed capacity on label was almost double than original battery but in fact real capacity was half of original. So, returned to seller and lost shipping costs only.
Unfortunately physics is in full force for batteries: at the moment larger capacity can be achieved only by more or larger sells!!!
I'm actually MORE than happy with original Samsung 2000MAh battery. I would NEVER put a fake or low quality battery close to my face.

Well that confirms all these uprated batteries are in fact rubbish with the exception of the much larger 3500mah one and even that was nowhere near the stated 3500mah rating
The gold batteries from Ebay are all fake. Don't waste your time. Peel off the gold cover, under it, you'll find an under powered rating.this batteries have already been discussed at xda over and over with picture evidences to show they are fake. Go buy a jaguar for 10 bucks and tell me it's real.

I just bought one from ebay too. A gold 2450 mAh battery.
After I received it I put it in the mobile and battery snap from the market tells me the same remaining time as the stock 1650 mAh battery.. Then I peeled off the gold wrapper and underneath I found this inprint "HD504655AR 11K08NF1650".. 1650 ?? Strange coincidence ...
I opend a case with ebay requesting my money back because this looks like a fraud. I'll have to wait several days for it to close, but I will tell you how it ended...
I can only tell you that I should have read the posts here about the "gold" batteries.. Damn fakes!
Ok, so can anyone tell me how to identify a genuine Samsung battery?
My phone came with a battery that looks almost identical to eBay item 110825200405, except that mine says "Finished in Vietnam" and the recycle symbol is a bit different.
The supposedly genuine batteries on eBay (e.g. eBay item 140704498924) look quite different.
I got my phone from Orange/Partner in Israel and I'm wondering if they are using cheap aftermarket batteries to save money. Anyway, I want to buy a spare but I want to make sure that I'm getting my moneys worth for a battery that has the actual marked capacity and that will last.
Thanks.
Glad to trade abt the gold batteries here. I was abt to use a pair for myself
"Gold Batteries"
Bump.
I was about to post a big thing with a battery log that I kept for the first 5 charges of my new "Gold" battery along with how unimpressed I was and that it didnt seem any better than my stock 1250mAh. The new battery was supposedly 2450mAh. after reading the post 2 posts above mine I decided to remove the gold foil to look at the stamps on mine. I see nothing to indicate the mAh capacity on mine but after using it for a month I can say for sure that it is no better than my stock battery. I am not going to file it with ebay or anything but it sure seems like there are a lot of fakes out there. Mine came from Ghuang Dong china or something like that... lol. Anyway I only paid 6.99$ with no shipping and have a functional spare battery now so, oh well. Lesson learned. Figured I'd give my 2 cents.

Oops. Just realixed this is for samsungs. Mine was for HTC Inspire. Probably all the same though... My bad.
my 2 bits worth
Just got the ebay GOLD (haha) battery as well but paid like 4 bux for it - FWIW it seems to hold a charge longer though it charges lightning fast which leads me to believe that it is indeed not 2450mah
After having done a bit of research, mah is a tricky thing to verify - can be done with a multimeter BUT there is a device called a battery-analyzer that does the trick. So these ppl that sell the possibly fraud batteries have tapped a great market: people (mostly) without the gear or know-how to check the quality of the goods!
regardless i needed a second battery so no loss for me. Now if it explodes or something I will report here first and I will not leave my 5star feedback for the "gold battery people" just yet
UPDATE
***so the gold battery performance is incredibly poor - last less and less time with each charge***
I'd advise anyone to absolutely not bother with one of these

Polarcell vs mugen vs original battery

Hi, with current promising progress in jb Rom, I'm thinking investing on new battery replacement for my Desire. I found:
1. www.cellephone.de/en/mobilfunk-zube...ion-google-nexus-one-replaced-ba-s410/a-2866/ polarcell with 1400mah capacity made in German(?) and
2. www.mugen-power-batteries.com/mugen...e-htc-desire-vodafone-htc-desire-1600mah.html mugen 1600mah same size with stock. More expensive than the first one.
Anyone have experience with one of them? How its quality and durability? How its compare to original HTC battery?
Thanks for sharing and advice.
I've not used the mugen, but there is a round up of some ~20 3rd party batteries for nexus 1 where Cameron Sino came out top. 2400mah with extra back cover. I found it on Amazon for about 7 gbp.
I run runnymede AIO, original battery could not make it through the day some days. The new one gives me 50-70% used in per day. Has been known to give 3 days when roaming (Wifi & voice, no 3g).
Hope this helps

Thanks for info. I thought nobody will answer my question
Btw, I prefer same size with original battery. Extra size will make my Desire case useless. The polarcell and mugen I mentioned are normal size.

batteries of the same size as the original battery that promise greater autonomy or mAh are, usually, fake and often with a capacity much lower in comparison to the original batteries

edit: mine doesnt say that.
Battery life is a pretty important feature of a phone, if HTC could have had double the capacity for just a couple of quid I'm sure they would have, but they didn't, suggesting that the cheap "gold" and double life batteries aren't what they suggest (and that's certainly borne out my my use of copy batteries.)
