CM7 preferred network mode, settings? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

i recently had a buddy of mine root my Inc 2 with CM7 and i am curious, what is the best setting to use for the network mode? currently it is on CDMA/EvDo auto.
Thanks!

Hi there,
i also rooted my phone and put CM7 on it, but since that, i dont get any phone signal anymore...
i am a verizon customer but i am currently in germany, they only have GSM networks...
any ideas what to do?

The AOSP ROMs don't seem to do well with roaming. Get RMK's debloated stock ROM

On CM7 in Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Network Mode CM7 is built by default to be on CDMA mode, so you have to change it to global or just GSM or GSM/WCDMA. Just some thoughts...

No data on UMTS but I do on HSPA.

Any advice on what to look for?
I have been testing out different ROM's to see what I like then notice I lost internet when I am on a UMTS network but works great on HSPA.
I did change my HSPA setting in the prop build for higher HSPA speeds, could this have knocked out my ability to connect on UMTS?

Found out this has something to do with the radio in the CM 6.1.1 ROM.
I went back to my stock root rom and everything works fine.
Has anyone tried putting the stock radio on the CM rom?
i thought i saw stock radio in rom dev but now i cant find it I think i am having the same issue your having

[Q] Evo with CM7 Radio Issue

I just finished flashing my Evo with CM7 and installed the gapps correctly. Everything is working fine... the only problem is that my Radio (Updated and flashed into the phone) is only picking up 1x.... I look at the radio and it's not on EvDO Rev.A ... it's only picking up CDMA 1x. What can I do to fix this problem?
Try going to menu/wireless and networks/ mobile network select auto or home only.. if that don't work try in dialer pad *#*#4636*#*# don't press talk it will take you to phone info select cdma prl.. let me know dude
sent from the bathroom...
No worky dude..... same problem
That's probably what you have available at the moment. Sense lies and says you have 3g when you don't
swyped from my cyanogenized and gingerbreaded EVO
This doesn't have sense, it's CM7 Gingerbread
That's my point exactly.
swyped from my cyanogenized and gingerbreaded EVO
The radio band is on CDMA - 1xrt or something like that..... I need it to be on EVDO Rev. A
Dude- he's saying that stock rom lies- stock rom says 3g when you are really in 1x. You have always been at 1x whereever you are right now. It's working just fine. Its not broke so dont try to fix it.
My phone does this on all the aosp based roms, goes back on "3g" whenever I load a sense rom

Try going to an area where you know there is 3g signal. Also on CM7 dial *18 to refresh 3g.
hTC Evo CM7-n17
how does that work again *18?? how you do that??
hi guys after flashing the updated radio cm7 and the gapps phone runns great but i dont have as good reception can i flash the stock radio over cm7? Just curious its really annoying to be barley getting signal around the house, worked fine before flashing to cm7.Thanks

force 3g?

.Hi guys/gals, just impoted a captivate glide from the u.s, seeing as they never released them here in the uk..
Its brand new, accept for the chap has already rooted it for me and installed cwm. Now after reading somewhere on this forum a while ago, I remember, I think, that you can only force 3g on the at&t rom and not on the rogers (which I'm running)?
Is that right? As I really need this feature, and have used it for years on my desire z runnng miui..
Are there any patches/cab files/apps that will do this for me, as I can't find a way to solve this without flashing the at&t rom..
Thanks peops..
(I also get a blank screen when activating wifi hotspot, which I use evry day also,,, this wouldn't be a common bug I spose?)
James.
As far as I know the only Rom that lets you switch to 2G (I think is what you want) is the ROMS from Rogers. You can use either the stock 2.35 or the OSIMOOD which is also based on stock just has the Bloat removed. Unfortunately all ICS roms are based on AT&T. I don't know what the JB ROms can do as I have not tried them.
Get pimp my rom. You have to get the hidden menu up, and change to GSM only. The radio has to be turned off and back on for it to work.

Hi, thanks for the replys, but its actually the other way round, I dont want it to keep dropping back to 2g, I need it to stay on 3g only..
Any suggestions?
Thanks..
Pimp my rom did the trick though, thanks
Any ideas on how to fix the wifi hotspot black screen (black screen, accept the top icon bar which is still visible)?
Thanks...
Force 3G Network
You only have to dial *#2263# and you well get the network menu

So you would rather lose data connectivity altogether than use 2G?
And if you're overseas, why do you have T-Mobile set as your provider?

Hi, bit late replying, but, I use the phone as a router via wifi tethering at home, so I want it to stay on 3g. Forceing it to stay on 3g stops it unnessaserily dropping back to 2g and slowing the connection down, it works well and I've always used this on my desire z via miui roms.
My provider is T-mobile.. T-mobile uk
Also, anyone got wifi calling working on this phone? On any rom? As I can't find any info on it.. as tmobile has free wifi calling over here..
Thanks guys..
am I the only person in the uk to use one of these? (If I am ill feel a bit special lol)

Fixed service dropping and locked LTE

I finally got LTE locked on with Telus other users confirmed Rogers, AT&T and Bell(thanks) . No service disconnections, even while on wifi.
The problem I see is conflicting settings while flashing roms/modems. This seems to be the only fix. I'm pretty stoked I figured this out because I was about to switch back to my s2x out of frustration.
This took a lot of trial and error, literally had nothing to go on and no where in particular to start. Enjoy.
MAKE SURE YOU ENABLE LTE TOGGLE IN ROM AND HAVE IT ON BEFORE STARTING.
1. Network mode(settings/wireless & networks, more/ mobile networks/ network mode) set to gsm/lte/wcdma
2.Phone setting in test mode *#*#4636#*#* set to lte/gsm
at&t / rogers should select gsm/lte/cdma in test mode
3.Recovery flash latest modem mumLL1
(at&t users flash ucdlk3)
Wipe cache/dalvik
4 . Reset. Give it a couple mins to ask the network for lte.
If you disable Lte(through toggle) and want to use 3g/H+ for battery saving, the only way I've been able to reconnect to it; is to re enable(toggle) and reset, wait a couple mins to connect.
Side note: depending on your 4g service area, it may bounce around 3g/H+ which is normal.
When you place a call it will drop to 3g (the believed reason for this is that the phone knows you won't need heavy data so falls back to ease up on the battery during calls) but will reconnect a couple mins later. Our phones are slow to negotiate Lte connections with the radio testing sockets and network stability before committing, so be patient.
Let me know if this works for you and which network. Thanks.

Re: Fixed service droping and locked LTE
To check if it worked. Go into test mode and it should say Lte in network type.
Xda I747
So does this mean we get no 3g?
Sent from my Mind using Telekinesis!
Yes everything works. I can unselect lte in my toggles and it drops to 3g/hspa. When I re-enabled lte I noticed that I have to make sure in network settings lte/gsm/wdcma is selected and reset phone.
Xda I747
O wow lucky u I can't unselect on Att lol
Sent from my Mind using Telekinesis!
Which rom are you on? Should be up in your toggles. Basically it changes you network settings from cdma/gsm to lte/gsm/cdma. But it conflicts sometimes.
Xda I747
Its there it just doesn't do anything because all the modems on the Att S3 are Rill locked or something so we don't have the option to do it so easily

Ok sounds promising but unable to get my ATT phone running ROM cyanogenmod10.1 03/04 nightly into Test Mode using the keypad code provided. This does work for stock ROM phones. Do you know any other way to get into the test mode?

Yeah I'm pretty sure everyone is using cm10 or aokp. Not sure if stock is having these problems. If they were I'd be on the phone yelling at Telus.
Xda I747
So let me get this right. This fixes the signal jumping around on cm10/aokp ROMs?? That's the only reason I stay on a stock based rom. I'm tired of seeing my signal jump back and fourth from 4g to 3g etc. On stock I always have a rock solid signal. It does not jump around..... Thanks in advance...

Yes for me and others didn't even get 4g, also it would completely go out of service. Now I get steady 4g.
Xda I747
Any alternative way to get into "test mode" other than using the keypad?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Sorry man, I tried looking around for a way. Could be the rom you're on. I know Liquid and Carbon are fine. Probably a couple more that I don't even know of, others have success with.

Mobile Network/Data Upload Help!!!

When I am on the Network Mode LTE/CDMA/EVDO AND on 4g, my data works as intended, download and upload works. However, if I am still on LTE and only have 3g service...I get ZERO upload data. This is why MMS doesn't send and other things (Instagram, Snapchat).
To get these things to send, I got to set my Network Mode to just CDMA/EVDO Auto. The downside to this is that 4g will never get picked up when available.
If anybody knows how to fix this so that my data uploads when I'm 3g but on the LTE/CDMA/Evdo network mode that would be great!!!!
I am running the Carbon 5/10 nightly but I believe this is a common AOSP issue.
Thanks!!!

Once you can identify the baseband version try different modems besides your current one and see if it makes any difference for you. I'm sorry it took so long for anyone to respond to this..

Unfortunately, this did not work. I'm wondering if this is an APN issue, although I don't really know what I'm talking about.
As you can see from the screenies...3g upload speed is non-existant when on the LTE network mode.
Edit: 1st screenie is on LTE. The 2nd is on CDMA/Evdo Auto.
What are you talking about 3g on lte network mode. 3g is 3g. LTE is 4g two completely different things. If you have LTE in your area your device would connect and say 4g. If not it will connect to only 3g. If you are on a stock rom you might only be connected to 1x speed but your phone will display 3g. Only custom roms will break it down to actually show if you are on 1x connection.
If you are on a custom rom then that may be your problem if you do have lte in your area, even more so if you are on aosp type rom. They have issues handling the exchange between 4g and 3g. I pretty much bet that's what it is an rom issue handling the exchange.

Under settings - mobile networks - network modes. The LTE mode is selected. In areas where 4g is not available and only 3g is...upload data does not work. However, if just the CDMA/EVDO auto is selected under mobile networks (LTE NOT SELECTED) data upload works fine.

What Rom are you on? Never mind, just read your on Carbon. This is a common issue with aosp roms. You should leave it always in cdma/lte/evdo never change from there. Set it to that and reboot. Use the toggle for 4g to turn 4g on or off.
But beltway to assure yourself that it is a rom issue is create a nandroid, then flash a TW rom and test the handling between 3g and 4g, and your data.

I am on LiquidSmooth v2.4 official. However this happens on the past few AOSP roms i have tried.
Back to what you said, maybe the handoff from 4g to 3g is just not working with data upload properly.
Wow I must say thanks for the toggle idea. Beats the heck out of going into mobile settings and switching modes every time I want to send an MMS.

Correct, just do yourself a favor in order to eliminate a hardware issue. Make the nandroid of your current set up. Clean flash a TW rom anyone and check the handoffs if it works property it's a rom issue if you still have problems it could be the device itself. It takes less than 5 minutes to test you don't have to set everything up just flash log in with Google account and check.
