This isn't related to any particular ROM as I have tasted this with various sense and none sense ROMS... Has anyone since using the latest radio had issues with connecting to 3G or having very strange fluctuations, where the signal might go dead completely then back up to full?
I seem to be experiencing this with 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20

The mentioned Radio is really poor in 3G Network. Especially change between 3G and EDGE. When I disconnect from Wifi it too often doesnt connect to the GSM or 3G again - the bars are there, you can phone but cant use data connection.
I hope there'll be a updated radio soon!

Working best for me. From Malaysia.
Not working at all well for me. All was working great until I flashed to this radio. I'm now experiencing complete signal drops at least once an hour, have to toggle airplane mode to re-enable.
I tried rolling back to each other radio bar the first 3 or 4 with the same result.
Could it be something else or am I missing something when rolling back the radio?
It works fine for me as long as I stay in Copenhagen, but I've experienced losing signal altogether when travelling, this didn't happen before, so I think it's because of the radio.
I have a weird issue where I never seem to be able to access the Internet in any way until the connection icon changes from "3G" to "H". Is this normal? I haven't noticed this on the stock radio but then I didn't keep it that long...

Where could one get that version? And is it supposed to work on any ROM without breaking it?

I have the same issue as you. When the icon shows 3G my internet doesnt work at all but as soon as it changed to H (bang) full speed internet..
It did it for me on the 32.43 radio but not on stock. Anyone know what the stock Telus Radio is?
Guys you do know on telus we dont have a 3G network its strictly "H" that would be why your internet does not work. I would like to know how you managed to get stuck in 3G as i never have.
I have no idea - i just updated radio and rom to 2.2 Official (but rooted) - i entered the apn settings from the telus website.
When on internet things will be fine, internet loading (H in task bar) and then suddenly it will turn to the 3G icon and internet will freeze until the H icon comes back. Strange...
When i go into the settings and check my phone model it says its a HTC Desire A8181 - i checked the internet and this model is 3G Dual-Band 900/2100MHz.
Before i flashed a 2.2 rom my model showed as HTC Desire 8182, which is 850/1900 3G.
Could this be why its getting stuck on 3G instead of H?
My model also displays HTC Desire A8181 and I'm running a 2.2 ROM.
I don't remember what it said before on the Telus stock rom, but I could try flashing it back to see, since I have it in backup.
If you could try flashing it back that would be great - i think i have my Nandroid backup but its on my works computer...

the modle should do anything i change mine to just HTC Desire, what rom are you running?

So I've noticed that I cannot do voice and data simultaneously (call someone and surf the web at the same time). I know its supposed to be possible under 3G and HSDPA for GSM networks. I am in a perfectly good HSDPA region (3G too for that matter, but my phone shows the H icon).
The only reason I can think that it is not working is because I am currently using the Vision_Radio_12.52. 60.25_26.08.04.30 (from *LEAK* Vision_Gingerbread_S_TMOUS_2.13) radio which is not the newest one.
So will upgrading my radio solve the problem (I can do voice and data fine individually.)? Or is it just not possible for some reason with this phone?
You can but only with 4g, the h on stock means 4 or 3g
No same for me and I am on a different radio the one ending .12,data turns off when talking,as to the reason why, I dont know, I just know it does not work.

Ok, but like I said, I am seeing an H indicating that I should be on a HSDPA network (there is a seperate 3G icon when I am in 3G).
Regardless of 3G or 4G, I thought GSM can support voice + data over both 3G and 4G.
Bombadier is using the latest radio and is having the same problem so I wonder what is the reason behind this...
Radio and ROM specs in my signature, I have no problems talking and surfing while in H or 3G.

Quick question do you have mobile network data always on?
Whatever the default is, I never manually turn it off, but I do use juice defender and allow it to turn off mobile data only when my screen is off.
Should of said on the phone running Unity, as I have it set from settings - wireless and network - mobile networks - not always on, will change it to always on and see if the connection stays on while talking.
Edit Just tested and the data connection stays on while I am on the phone,the OP should try mobile networks always on then.
My mobile network is already set to Always On.
When I get back home, I will update my ROM to the latest InserCoin v1.61 and the newest radio and report back. Hopefully, that will fix my problems.
Also, once I flash the newest radio, will I have to flash RIL too?
Just remember, newest radio doesn't always mean the best radio. I'm using an old one that after trying 5 different radios turned out to be the best.
Not sure about RIL's on sense though...
Seems to be all quiet about the need to match the rils,I used to, but had a few bad experiences matching the rils on the new unity releases 2.35+ so have stopped doing it,certainly with AOSP based roms it is not recommended to match,hope you get your problem sorted.
P.S. As the other chap said,the newest radio does not always mean the best radio,a bit of experimentation is required,also be sure to wipe the EFS data when changing radios.Link to a flashable zip can be found in the radio thread.

I am running AOKP JB v1 on ATT Gnex. I havent installed any other kernels or radios. My issue is that, while i have full coverage in an area i know i have data, while my signal bars show full with "H" above them, i cannot get data. Cannot send picture messages or go to google market or use browser. I think i need to flash a different baseband or radio but i have no idea which one i should be using or what is compatible. Can somebody please point me in the right direction. It is rather annoying to loose data constantly.
Well I really need help now. I flashed a radio but obviously it wasnt meant for JB. I have signal enough to text and make phone calls but no data at all now. It shows all grey bars with the H above it. Can anybody link to a working JB radio/baseband for GSM please?
I believe i should be use 9250XXLF1 but i cannot find a download for it

Try going back to stock completely. I do think its rather a network issue. Do you have the correct data plan for it?

I have been using the UGKL1 radio on ATT in Northern California - has worked well for me. Obviously, radios are very dependent on location but this radio was a big improvement for me.
They changed something with the network, allot of users reporting issues of data drops because its switching from umts to hspa and hspap constantly.

I see it constantly changing between the listed signals although the status bars show full w/ "H" above them. Tried multiple different roms. I switched from lumia 900 to this phone so my plan is good up to LTE. Shouldnt have an issue w/ that. Would flashing a different radio help?

Flashed touchwiz jellybean Rom. Had no lte. Flashed back to rogers original 4.0.4 and no longer have lte or 4g. Do I have to get into an lte area before It registers? I have my tab with me and it's getting 1 bar lte 4g in a weak area. Please help.

Go into your Mobile Network settings, check "Access Point Name" and see if you're on the LTE apn.

I've had the same experience with three other roms I've flashed on my roger gs3. I have been through apn settings on all of the roms, but I still dont get LTE. When I recover the stock rom it goes back to 4g/lte every time. So, I'm sticking with the stock rom until there is a definitive fix. I'm nowhere near good enough at this to figure it out myself.
I suggest, if you want to keep receiving lte service, that you restore your stock rogers rom.
From what I've been reading on xda threads; it seems that this problem is central to the at&t/rogers/bell phones.

No, unfortunately, when experiencing these 3g/h+ instead of 4g/lte problems, on the flashed jb roms, my download speeds are consistently under 5mb/s. When restored to stock rom they go up to almost 10mbs on 4g. I haven't been able to test the lte speeds yet because rogers towers somehow manage to miss my street, but are covering the college five blocks from here. I'll test again next time I'm on campus and see how they both fare.
There seem to be so many variables involved. I'm just trying to eliminate them one by one, so as not to confound the results.
I was thinking that the aosp roms don't usually have an lte icon.

I had to give up on ktoonsez &task rom and go with CM10 nightly. This is after trying out cm cfx official rom, to no avail.
I was able to get 4g with cfx, task 650&ktoonsez,but only for a short time then they would automatically either lose signal, or switch to a different APN all together. Now I have around 13 mbps on CM10 with H+. I'll settle for that instead of sketchy hit or miss with the others. I'd like to figure out how to fix Task650&ktoonsez rom. I prefer that one so far after playing around with them all a bit.

when I flashed AOKP's rom and using this rom almost half year
there has a crazy problem is about the T Mobile H+ signal
I remember that I used the stock rom showing the 4G icon everytime. and speed really fast.
but now I'm using the AOKP's rom when you using the H+ maybe just five minutes the network signal change to E(EDGE) or 3G
and network just stopped alittle while like 5-25 seconds then returned back to H+ or H
the problem make me crazy,
I searched in google sometimes but I didn't find any answer, maybe I just use wrong keyword on it.
so, anyone knows this issue? and how to solve that?
AOKP was released a 4g_signal.zip but it could not work right now on the android 4.2.2 ...

It's not an issue.. the TMO S3 has only been supporting the HSPA+ bands at most and that is our 4G. When you flash an AOSP ROM it will display H+, which are the bands your on when your network is originally displayed as 4G on a stock ROM. H+ is displayed while data is being transferred. When no data is being transferred your data will bump down to UMTS or EDGE, which displays as your 3G, to conserve more battery. It's something you're gonna have to get used to on AOSP ROMs

Actually, no it does not jump down to Edge when there is no data pull (and you'll use MORE battery, because its search for the 4G network). When there is no data pull, it will display (on custom ROMs) as 3G. When it pulls data, it will show either H or H+. You already know that T-Mo network (exception of the LTE cities) has no difference between their 4G and 3G.
Now, you said that you're getting edge every once in a while. Try flashing a new radio. But, I'm confused, because you said you're trying to flash a 4G zip onto 4.2. There hasn't been a 4G zip even for a long time on 4.1. It won't work with most 4.1 ROMs, as the last time I saw a 4G zip it was for a specific updated of AOKP. Anyway, how long has the issue been going on since you started dipping down to Edge at certain times?

My mistake. That is what I was initially referring to. I should have said H+ displays AFTER data has been pulled. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
