Jury is out on the best recovery. The layout of the partition is described in each ROM's thread, and it depends on the ROM you intent to flash.

Partition seems to be pretty standard for most roms...and i will search this jury u speak of..ty

you could also try AmonRA. u can partition it thru it too.

Do u have a link for amon ra for cdma desire? I searched and searched and only found one for the gsm phone.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App

i didnt think there'll be different recovery for cdma and gsm phones. i reckon it'll work on both but dont quote me on tht.

From my understanding cdma and gsm Roms are not compatible to flash..so i was just assuming neither are their recoveries.

i'm not too sure about that. perhaps someone could confirm tht.

It is for clockwormod recovery, but this is not a bad recovery.

Amon_ra, clockwork mod install.

Hey there, was wondering if the newer clockwork mod recovery would install the updated amon_ra? Or is the only way to get it in that annoying instruction thread where I feel like I'm being talked down to in the disclaimer?
Thanks!

I also have the Amon_ra on HD 004 and would like to use the new clockwork mod. I might give it a few days until all the bugs are worked out though seeing that alot of people are having problems
Do you have Rom Manager? I use it to switch between Clockwork and Amon Ra. You don't even have to power off the phone for the switch.
No I don't have It as of now, but 1 click of the a button I could.
But does the amon_ra that clockwork install have the new partitions? Anybody know?

So? Anybody know? This seems to be a huge oversight that could eff people's phones.

Your best bet is to download a copy of the modified Amon RA and only flash that one. Once you get the hang of flashing images it's simple to do.

Help flashing a new rom n add-on? ?

Im not sure wat I did but now when I try to flash anything it keep saying "update aborted" and update "Edify Script". Any ideas on how to fix it??
Im Running Myns RSL 5 if that helps any
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
That error is because you're using CWM 3.0+ and only uses edify scripting and the file was compiled with Amend scripting [old]. You would need to downgrade to an older version of clockwork, 2.x.x, or switch to amon_ra 2.3
I actually prefer amon over clockwork. Easiest way to switch is with Rom manager from the market. Just hit the flash alternate recovery button
Sent from "The EVO" using XDA Premium
is there another way to swtich recovery.....Rom manager premium does not have the option of flash alternate recovery available for me
EDIT-nvm sorry I found it.
Sorry your having such difficulties, once this is all figured out though itll all come easy to ya. See if you can tryTHIS
Thanx for ya help guys, its worked out great..

In a nut shell they are the same. Some have better luck with one than the other. I originally started with clock but it gave me problems so i switched to amon. So which ever one works for you then keep it. Both can wipe both can nandroid but I think only amon and back your RSA keys, unless clock is updated now.
EDIT: conqu1stador informed me that both recoveries backup your rsa keys.
Yeah before that was the draw but both backup the keys now unless something changed again.

Could be a number of things
1) wrong script for cwm(believe everyone above 3 needs editify script
2) not the correct location for the rom your running
3) the one your try to flash may not be flashable
4) could be made for a different phone(if you followed links to get that is)
5) not named correctly for your rom inside the zip
So after all that lets try this
1) what rom are you using
2)what bootanimation are you trying to flash
Give us those and i'm sure someone on here can help you get the one you want on the rom your running.
Tapa away from a galaxy far away
I use root explorer to move bootanimation.zip to system/media, but depends on the rom
Not running any Rom I am rooted and clockwork installed...I can't find any good roms that work perfect like 100% and I like my HTC sense.

Might be better off with goo manager and installing twrp. Also when you have an issue, give as much detail so people can be more helpful

Well okay what more detail needed ?

Trying Goo manager although when I try to load twrp it forces close, someone help me I want to ROM this up. I'm rooted and have clockwork but have no luck flashing
Sent from my ADR6350 using xda app-developers app
Check the md5 sum and see if it matches up, or if ur lazy re-download the rom, just make sure its for incredible 2. It could be a bad download. Also I believe you have to flash the kernel after the rom as well
Sent from my Incredibly still working
Okay some help here I know it was right ROM, how do I get right kernal ?
Sent from my ADR6350 using xda app-developers app
Roms have the kernel included no reason to flash different kernel unless you are wanting to change clock settings or voltages or fix problems such as volumes.

Thank you, okay so can anyone link me with a ROM reliable one ?

ClockworkMod is the recovery I started out with, it should work just fine and will not affect flashing a ROM. After a few weeks I switched over to 4ext recovery. But I would get a little more familiar before jumping around to much. Have you successfully flashed a custom rom yet? One other thing you may check is the radio version, I recommend upgrading to the .312 or .320 radio.
Not on this phone done rooting on nook color and my first Android so I need to flash a radio and a ROM ?

Download condemned cm.7.2 on your PC and put it in the root of your SD card. I hope you made a backup of your old ROM before you tried this seeing as you're not booting atm

Haha of course I made a backup and I'll try that

I haven't seen this answered (or I'm blind)...Are you S-Off, or HTC Unlocked?
I am s off help me
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Okay sorry correction I am only unlocked do I need to s off ?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Now everything makes more sense...The preferred method for flashing roms here is s-off. It can be done without. I believe the method involves extracting the boot.img from a rom then after flashing the rom, flash the boot.img with fast boot. I haven't done it, so I can't give you better details on that, however it is covered at length in many of the rom threads, so I think a search for "boot.img" should get you on your way quickly. You'll probably want to search with the desktop version of xda.
Edit: However, I think the consensus is that getting s-off isn't terribly hard and saves a lot of headache down the road, so I would recommend that. Again, there are threads with all the info you need.
Thank you, looked at s off method and going to try that tonight then I should be churning through Roms thank you !

No problem. I do have one more suggestion. When you are s-off and comfortable with things, find the twrp thread in development. It's my opinion, and I can't say I've tried all the options, but twrp is way easier to use than the normal CWM. There are other options you could consider; 4ext and CWM touch. It's all about the research around here.

I need latest cwm for my s2 !!!

Please provide link or zipfile

,so I never use twrp man
My cwm says 5.0.2.6 and i see there is newest version . Dont want to make mistake and download wrong file from other pages.
...so if u can please provide them both just in case. Thanks

I'm not saying that you are too lazy to do a simple search, but....well, you ARE!
So here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1639673
I have been using cwm for ages but this 6.x.x.x crap caused me to much grief so now I run twrp touch and won't go back.
Sent from my SGH-T989D using xda premium
Ugh, don't listen to any of these guys. Anyone with issues on either recovery simply don't know how to use them. Best advice I can give you is to NOT USE THE DARKSIDE CACHE OR SUPERWIPE with CWM 6.0.x.x.
They break your CWM installation. Other than that I feel the same way you do. TWRP is great but I'm just used to CWM and prefer it. It's been on all 6 android devices I've owned and I trust it. Hard to break old habits!
Also, use the steps in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1926754 to flash your ROMs. Should be smooth sailing. Either I'm lucky and my phone is perfect or my flashing method is key but I never have any issues with any ROMs that aren't already established by the original ROM developer.

Funny thing is when the Evo came out we all used AmonRA and that was the recovery to have and I must admit it neva eva eva eva caused me a problem. Clockwork was the bad stepchild over there so I stayed away from it. So to me old habits are not to use CWM not saying its bad but I had it on my Xoom and my Epic touch but now they both rock TWRP and itz the shiznicks..... To each his own
