I created a folder for my have and every now and then it doesn't let me open the folder. Has anyone else had this problem? Not sure if it's user problem or some glitch

Anyone know how to rename a folder? Created one on my home screen but can not figure out how to rename it from generic "folder". Thanks.

Open the folder and then longpress at the top of the folder. The current folder name will be highlighted giving you the option to rename it.

Yep, tried that, but am on a Miui rom and the folder long press doesn't work. Thanks anyway, will keep trying to sort this one out.
Just figured out how to do this. Open the folder, go into edit mode....upper left icon, the name can then be changed by just erasing the folder name and replacing with custom name. That is for the Miui rom of course.
Hi,
i tried to hide folders from stock gallery with .nomedia, after deleting the contents of com.google.android.gallery3d and rebooting the folders are still present in gallery?!
Doesn't work for me either. Is there an alternative?
I am also having this issue. Anyone want to chime in?
I had this problem too. However this seems to work. I used ES File Explorer for this
1. Create the .nomedia file in the folder.
2. Rename the folder.
3. Open the Gallery app. It should start to rescan. Depending on how many files are there it will slowly reduce the file count as its scanning and then the folder will disappear once its gets to zero.
4. Rename the folder back to original name if you want.
Hope that works for everyone else.
Works! thx!

great, this worked for me. was tired of seeing all the cover albums show up on my gallery app.
Add a dot before the folder name
.folder for example
And it shouldn't be scanned

that's the cache under some special folder.
I am finding this quite odd. I seem to have 2 folders named Download and download. One has a capital "D" the other lowercase. It would seem there are duplicates of several folders once in CWM. Only one of them is accessible from within the rom, and its the one without the downloaded files. The only way to view both, and the most recently downloaded items it would seem is through CWM. This is both odd, and frustrating. Anybody else experiencing this?
yepp. kind of strange but doesn't really bother me

I've seen the same thing and the weird thing is when I connect my phone to my comp the lowercase "d" folder doesn't show up...the only way I can get files from it is by using root explorer and moving the file to the regular uppercase "D" Download folder...it seems like any browser besides the stock browser saves files in the lowercase download folder

Yep seen this ,I erased the one with lowercase d and it never came back ( pulled what I thought I needed out of it first )
My GNEX uses ext4 for the sdcard file system. Ext4 is case insensitive so "download" and "Download" are two different folders.

I believe the lowercase downloads is the systems while the "uppercase" Downloads was created by an app... I have the same thing and my uppercase one is empty.
Could someone tell me the location of the current wallpaper? I thought it would be in the system or data folder, but cannot find anything.I really like the current one I have (no idea where it came from) and would like to copy it to my wallpaper folder on SD card.
Here is a screen shot of it also, in case someone recognizes it and could tell me where it is from.
/system/framework/framework-res.apk
Extract that and open it up it should be in the drawable folder. Default_Wallpaper.

That brought up a default wallpaper, but not the one that I currently have. I am pretty sure I flashed something, it didn't do the specific thing I was looking for, so I restored what I had, but didn't change the wallpaper.
Does someone recognize it? That way I can pull it out of there.
What rom? It could be part if the rom in /system/media ... dunno sorry.

I am on CM9 beta 3 now. When this happened, My base setup beta 2 with Blue Mist theme but sure what else.
Thanks for your help though
Go to /data/data/com.android.settings/files and there is a file called "wallpaper" just paste it on your SD card and rename it to "wallpaper.jpg"
I'm running the MoDaCo Ir13 4.0.4 ROM.
I can't take screenshots the ICS way (power + volume) because the "Pictures" folder seems to be read only or locked.
With any file manager, i can't write to, delete from (the modaco images folder), or rename anything in that folder.
Is there any way to fix this without reflashing the ROM?
Some people have renamed that folder and created a new one called pictures, which will work as it should.
The problem is you still can't delete the old folder even though you can rename it.

Thanks, thats worked.
I thought i tried renaming the MoDaCo folder inside the Pictures folder, and seem to remember it failing, but didn't think of renaming the original folder.
Does anybody know why it happens?
