Well, I gave my Epic to my mother and right after doing so, she wanted Netflix. So...I hooked her up with stock EF02 (w/ root) and now she's complaining about the phone being dying "super ultra quickly" - her words.
Hell, she's even using a 3500 MAh battery and it's still only lasting like 6 hours WITHOUT use. (yes, I've tested and made sure the battery wasn't the problem, it's definitely the EF02 leak.) I can put her back on EC05 but it'll leave her Netflixless.
P.S. I noticed the battery drain only occurs when there is low signal (ie: roaming and switching back to Sprint, etc.)
P.P.S. She has GPS off, volume on vibrate, no WiFi is on, however, Bluetooth is on.
which EF02 release is on her phone
Deodexed or Odexed
im kinda new to the epic scene, was on evo for along time but considering the extended battery, and non use. might be a kernal specific issue. more info info if you have any
also one thing i forgot to mention was ive noticed on any sprint cdma phone, when its jumping from signal to signal, kills the battery fast. a quick fix might just be to get "roam control" on her phone. saves my battery
I'm getting awesome batt.life , 7hours, screen on 1h40m, wifi about 30m at lunch, volume LOUD, some youtube, uploaded some images, 50 text messages, uploaded an image with bad signal, didn't kill the batt... EF10 modem, no crash yet, about 2 days using this, no problems, love GB for the epic, even if its a leaked version...
_dit::: make sure your not using the dk28 modem, It won't allow phone to go into deep sleep, just a heads up, only has a problem on GB roms...

This could be a issue. Also like someone else said roam control could help. How is her signal at home? Does she have a internet connection? If you answer poor signal and yes to high speed internet call sprint tell them she has very poor signal in her house. They wil send you a Airrave for free I did this and batter life has been great. Also look at EF02 Plus by ChrisG been the most stable for me. Last but not least disable all services mentioned in randomkings post.

I tried to get an airave just last week, it was a no go, they said they have diffrent units now, and can't give them away, Ill try again this week. They told me no problems in my area, so...
Edit: plus there is no montly charge anymore, only a one time fee for the airave, $129.??...

I got for free about a month ago in my area just south of Boston. The only charge is if I leave sprint and don't return the equipment.
Ya I got an airrave in my home with 6 devices and I have a good sized hom and it covers almost full bars across the house, and yes they have a list of new policies and new devices they will tell you that they can't give it to you without you paying, just call again at least call 3 or 4 times, that's what I did and I got the airrave for free and I don't pay any extra a month.

She was on the EC05 modem and I upgraded her to EF02 modem. Do you recommend moving her up to EF10?
Btw, home signal is probably the best 3G will ever get. We went on vacation and our condo room had NO signal, that's where the battery drain was horrible. It's anywhere that signal is weak.
Is there anyway we can edit the batterystat.bin to trick the phone to have better battery life

ee03 modem seems to favor battery life but drops data and will need an airplane mode toggle. also i use no frills cpu control on demand 100/800.

Both EF modems suck. They drain the battery very quickly which is evident byy how hot the phone gets. EE03 is the way to go for battery life.

No stay with EF02 modem. Also I am experimenting freezing some more apps that seem to be rogue when listening to music or streaming videos. But the last time I did this I lost the ability to send and receive mms LOL so it is a work in progress.
Does anyone know why the phone signal will constatly stay yellow in the battery status? I cannot get it to shut off. It never did this to me before the GB update as I have old screenshots showing a green phone status only every so often and the rest is a grayish color.
I was on the EF02 modem with Anonymous i3 rom for about 1.5 weeks before I knew about the modem crashes it caused. I did a fresh odin to the original samsprint ef02 leak then did a odin to the ee03 modem then decided to odin to ec05 as it seems most people are having good luck with that modem but my battery sucks! I keep it in wifi always as Im always at home or work, if not there I will turn wifi off. I have the sleep policy set to never for wifi... I am at my wits end.
snap01 is from a rom b4 the ef02 leak
snap02 is the AA i3 rom taken tonight
I got 2 phones and both have extended batteries. Did a comparison with EE03 and EF02 and battery life. The EF02 modem reached the low battery popup 3 hours before the EE03. Plus battery temp stayed mostly 3 degrees cooler in the EE03. Just try it on her phone and see if it lasts a little longer for her.
How did you get those snaps? I am on srf 1.2 and can't get them.
Thanks.

I use an app from the market called Shoot Me
Could it be that the battery would just drain faster in one place than another? It seems when I am at work I can never get a gps lock unless I go outside or have wifi on and the battery drains like crazy. At home I just have wifi on but the battery seems to drain slower??
Also I don't get the continous yellow colors on the Phone Signal at home it is green. The pic was while I was at home before I got to work. As soon as I got here its just always the various yellows!
install the ee03 modem and make sure you kill off SNS, DRM, and System updates whenever the phone is booted up. stock ef02 odexed runs fine for me

I know there's not really any answer, but anyone know what the best modem is for battery life on the Hurricane ROM? I've tried EG22 and EH17, and both really suck. I've heard that EC05 is good, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions?
modem rarely seems to impact my battery, it's all about the rom/kernel/config..
For me, EH17 has increased my data speeds and my reception. I now get 4G where I didn't with any modem after EB13, 1 more bar on 3G and faster speeds over WiFi.
GPS is the about same as all other leaked GB modems, but slightly less accurate than EH06; I'd get as close as 3m with EH06 but 6m with EH17. Sitting in the same spot.
On a suggestion I tried the EE03 modem on EH17 to stop the random reboots but still get 1 a day at home on WIFI. I do get 5 out of 9 satellite lock with this though. None seem to affect my battery life. Battery life will be affected by modem if you are primarily in a low signal area. Then you would have to try each one to see if any give you better signal and don't make the phone hot when losing signal. Heat is an indication of battery drain.
Alright, thanks guys. I just knew it was my modem that was causing some things because I was on the EG22 one, and battery life sucked. Then when I had EH17, I could see it was draining the battery even more.
Strangely, though, the EH17 modem now seems to be really good. In my house, I'm getting 4-5 bars where I usually get 2 and no time without signal. I've had it on its charger though so I'm not sure if the battery will be any better, but I'd assume it would be.
Thanks for the help everyone!
edit: okay, so when I leave the phone alone it has good signal. Then I use it for something and it goes to none or 2 back and forth. wtf?

I have seen this also; it doesn't seem to effect the performance any, at least that I have seen.
I hope EI05 is better; EH17 modem seems better but the ROM reboots way more (for me anyway) I'm back on EG22 w/EH17 modem.

Yeah, I do too. I'm not going back to EG22 so I'll just live with it.
I think I found w00t with the ERA FatFree, no reboots and I'm using the EH17 modem.
I get much better signal since eh17. Ec05 was dropping my bars constantly.

EH 17 sux for wimax
The EC05 out performs EH17 in the wimax arena. Ifn I were able to get my head in the codez I would look into why that is.
I was able to hold a steady weak connection with ec05. When I tried the eh17 on RAE hurricane 1.6 it would never hold a connection in a weak area.
I was one of the first on the EVO band wagon with Sprint..
After a long time, of promising me 4G and waiting for the Galaxy Nexus to come out for Sprint.. I'm not waiting any longer..
T-Mobile is giving away GSII 's this weekend.. and I'm making the switch..
Looking for some tips and tricks here..
I know the phone is much faster than my EVO..
What are some things I should know about this phone?
T-Mobiles service is lightning fast for a glorified 3G (HSPA)
My EVO is rooted and I'm running Cyanogen Rom..
I would like to Root my GSII and eventually within a few weeks put a ROM on it..
Now.. Is it all basically the same? Rom manager? Reboot into recovery ? RA,Clockwork?
Flash zips?
How is the battery life? I deal with pretty good Battery life with my EVO.. after much time with messing with Kernels and such..
How is the Camera? Pictures looked great from me playing with it...
Duel Core 1.5 CPU ?? Seems awesome.. Galaxy Nexus is only 1.2 or something..
Screen quality as well looks amazing!!
Anything else you guys can tell me about this phone, I would appreciate it ,..
THANKS
Yup, its probably the same but you need to use odin and download mode to root.
Battery life is 12 hours for me with medium usage, and with lil usage it can last up to 30~ hours.
Camera is fine. I personally find it better than any phone i had, just dont zoom when taking pictures.
1.5 ghz doesnt mean anything, Uk's GS2 is 1.2 ghz but atleast 20% faster than ours.
Hey dude, I was in the same boat as you. I had a HTC Evo running Cyanogen, too. I just got my SG2 last Friday and everything was pretty painless in terms of getting everything done. There were a few things that were confusing and frustrating, but it's really really easy to root and everything.
First thing you're going to want to do is follow this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332103
The first time you get into Odin and recovery and everything can be frustrating, so you're going to want to keep your battery cover off in the mean time until you can flash the recovery onto there and all that jazz.
Once you've got recovery installed and rooted, you can start flashing ROMs. The ROM I'm using is Juggernaut, which you can find here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322642. It's got the most features, in my opinion, and runs rock solid. One thing I like about it is that I can reboot into recovery while in the ROM, so I don't have to shut it off, do the key presses to get in there. Makes it way easier when flashing new themes, etc. etc. After putting on a custom ROM, I moved on to flashing a theme, which brings Gingerbread up to look like ICS. I used this theme http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341526.
In terms of battery life, I'm constantly texting with vibration on, using 3G/4G to listen to music and browse the web. I'm starting at about 8 or 8:30 am and get done with work at about 3 or 4, and by the time I get home I'm sitting at like 35 or 40% charge. This is on the Bullet kernel that comes with the Juggernaut ROM. In terms of the speed of the processor, it's fast. Really fast - better than the one we have in the EVO. The camera is awesome, too. I use a program called HDR Camera+ to do HDR pics, and it's awesome. Cost $3.99 int he market, but the stock camera takes awesome pictures, too. Videos on it are awesome. Here's one I took last night to show a friend the colour changing on my new gaming keyboard using the stock camera program to record: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geiPjeNjfiU
Sure I'll answer! Hi, and welcome to the sgs2 T-Mobile section!
1: you should know the phone has a way better screen then the evo, hmm probably lacking devs, since there were probably many for the evo. No issues honestly. GPS calls etc. Perfect. Well close to.
2: yes, rom manager, clockwork, etc same flashable zip
3: battery life is something you don't have to worry about, the evo battery sucked, HTC+battery is a no go.
4: camera is ehh, better than the nexus, but not better than the original sgs2.
5: 1.5 vs 1.2 actually the nexus is faster than our phone, but you can't tell much.
6: I mean from the sgs 2 to the evo is a big jump, honestly you'll enjoy this phone!

Yep.. i'm pretty excited..
Few more questions if you guys don't mind..
How does it score on "Quadrant" ?
Finally, since we're all using T-mobile here.. My fathers co-worker just got this phone as well .. and on a speedtest he is averaging anywhere from 4-10 down and 2-4 up
To me, that seems incredible.. Actually, it seems almost TOO FAST.. as if its just going to show those speeds on the initial speed test, then slow down. ??
I use about 4-5 gigs a month, I use Slingplayer,Netflix,HBOGO, sportstracker live, and many other bandwidth dependent programs..
With those speeds all those I just listed would work flawlessly ....
Is it accurate? Are you guys happy with the speeds??
EDIT** Also, I assume I can get rid of the bloatware and other stuff Samsung puts on these phones with a rom?? Right?
EDIT #2.. lol
No ICS roms yet?
Will ICS come out for this phone?? I assume its more than powerful enough.. No leaked versions yet? I mean, the EVO already has one.. Very alpha stage, but still...
I just got the white tmobile version from the sprint version which I loved but both 3G/4G suck balls.....so I made the flip I use sprint for voice only 30bucks a month.....then I got the $30 5GB 100min on tmobile....my 4G speeds are very fast between 11-22mpbs !!! I barley got 3mpbs on sprint 4G........performance wise I knew the processor was different and went almost looking for a lesser experience ..but hpnestly I really dont notice any difference at all...Im happy with the setup I have and making my cell phone plans work for me and not get screwed by carriers

wrong
if you run exynos 1.2ghz and compare it to our 1.5, they should run around the same speeds
the amazing part is that wheny ou oc the exynos to 1.6, then it'd be faster than ours when we oc our snapdragon to 1.8
I also just jumped ship from sprint w/ an EVO. Now on T-Mobile w/ Galaxy S II. Loving it so far though i expected a larger development scene for the device, seems like the other GS II models have been getting a bit more love as far as custom rom development goes. Is they're any reason for this? Besides technical development setback's of course.

Pretty much the galaxy nexus and ics development slowed down a lot of development...it hasnt stopped development, just slowed it down. There are still a lot of devs working on this device.

The camera does zoom, use pinch to zoom in and out..
I have about 3 hours of screen on time and play games and what not and do about 14 hours
As for the exynos being "faster" this is just not true.. the processor is not faster nor does it compute any more or less. the only thing it has over us is the GPU is much better. However there is no game that is able to tax what we have so it doesn't matter..
As for quadrants I have gotten between 3000 and 4000 depending on the setup at the time. but I would prefer 2500 and a smooth device over a 4000 and jumpy menus..
And t Mo's 4G < or 3G what ever> is great, especially when you compare it to Sprints pathetic speeds. I get between 13 and 20 mbps down and over 2 mbps up.. not to far off of LTE.
Well said.

I also switched over to Tmobile from Sprint last year and agree about sprints Wimax being pathetic compared to tmobiles hspa. I loved my evo but customer service and 4g for Sprint was garbage. And the sgs2 is by far the best phone out right now

I'm at a loss here, but I know something is wrong for sure. I'm familiar with the low signal strength 'problem' on LTE networks as described at rootzwiki's thread entitled "This is why your Verizon Nexus signal "sucks" " I do not understand it inside and out, but I know enough to be at least 80% sure that this is not my issue. That thread describes a low signal strength, as in the dBm, but my problem is actual performance. I'm not comparing numbers (at least not on LTE networks), but results.
The problem is pretty bad, and pretty consistent. Without fail, my signal strength will be butchered, and with it data and even voice/text service will be unreliable or non existent inside any building. Not just some buildings, but any building. If I'm in a 4G area, I almost always lose the 4G, and it's switched to 3G with very poor performance (even for 3G standards). If I don't loose the 4G, the speed test results are horrid. I've had several cases where inside a building I still have 4G but the speeds might be 500-700 Kbps down/up or even worse, but when I step outside into the parking lot, 10-15 Mbps down 5-15 Mbps up. I realize structures absorb wireless signals and sometimes it can be pretty bad, but this is too much and too frequent to just be normal wireless signal degradation. It also doesn't seem to be the area because I've traveled through these areas before with my droid charge and I've never experienced issues anywhere close to this bad with my charge.
Some examples; the first time I noticed it was in the Greensboro, NC 4G area. Specifically at the Travel Centers of America about 10 miles east of the greensboro's border. When I first pulled into the truck stop (I drive a strait truck with a sleeper) I was pissed because my phone was on 3G, and I looked this area up before I came here on verizon's detailed 4G coverage map. This very truck stop was sitting in a dark maroon 4G area, NOT an extended 4G area. So I was angry, but I figured that there was an issue with the network, or the storm coming through was causing problems. Later the storm passed and I noticed (while walking back to my truck) that I was getting a strong 4G signal and good speeds, 5-10 Mbps down and 5 ish up. But as I sat back in even just the driver seat the signal strength dropped, and so did the speeds. I did a lot of tests later outside. I was performing speed tests at different locations all over the parking lot and I noticed the closer I got to the trucks, the poorer the performance. When I was inside my truck, and back in the sleeper, 4G was gone completely, taken over by a very poor 3G signal with slow speeds. I found that if I had my phone mounted on the windshield I was able to get reasonable 4G speeds, but still only a fraction of what I was able to get outside in the parking lot.
Another similar case happened in the Washington DC area at a walmart (Landover, MD). This time the 4G stuck even in the sleeper, but speeds were 2-3 Mbps down and about 700 Kbps up. While outside, however, 15 Mbps down and up.
Here I sit at another truck stop. This time, however, I'm in an extended 4G area (which of course means I have 3G) and I'm comparing my 3G signal strength to my Charge's signal strength. I know what I said earlier, but from what I understand about that "issue", gingerbread phones and earlier would give the CDMA signal strength because they couldn't read the 4G signal strength, but ICS and later can and so it displays the LTE signal strength. So wouldn't that mean that if you are in a 3G area, you can, in fact, accurately compare signal strength since they should both be displaying the CDMA signal strength? If that's the case, then what I'm getting is -100 dBm on my Galaxy Nexus and -87 dBm on my charge.
Something is most definitely wrong with my phone, but I don't know if it has anything to do with the Vicious JB stock rom I installed or not.
Vicious JellyBean 4.1 V5 is the version I installed, and I realize now that I did not install the latest (4.1.1 V1) but nonetheless I could not see it reported anywhere in the changelog, or any of the replies to the thread that there were very noticeable problems with the radio performance. I'm just at a loss and I really hope someone's reading this going "ah, I know exactly what that problem is". Although I'm never lucky enough to have a well known problem happen that there are fixes readily available for
Thanks very much for your time and help!

JB issues?
Soundfx,
I've noticed some strange data problems as well. I've only had my nexus for 3 days. The first thing I did was throw a JB ROM (actually, about 9 of them to try them all out) on the device. (Vicious was one of them) What I noticed was that pretty consistently, about 5-10 minutes after the flash, my phone would go from having 4 bars of LTE to no signal at all. My connection would drop completely. Although I didn't figure this out until the latter flashes, I did remember having connection issues when I tried going to the play store or the internet on all the ROMs. I'd have to switch of LTE, and then I'd start working again. At first I just figured that I'm in some sort of LTE dead zone or something. But it seemed strange that my connection would drop completely and I couldn't get it back for 30-60 seconds.
SO, this morning I took my device back to stock. Unrooted ICS from Verizon. And although I wasn't at home for more than a minute to do testing, it appears that my connection problems have gone away. So I'm wondering if it is a radio issue for JB roms. All that to say that I don't think your problem is just the vicious rom. If you wouldn't mind, I'd suggest you trying another ROM and seeing if you have the same issues.
I figure it could be a few things for my own issues, which could be similar to yours:
1. Toro JB roms just have radio issues. (Seems like more people would be clamoring on this forum though if that were true, and I haven't seen any other than you)
2. I have a bad piece of hardware. (Running my stock ICS rom should shake that out.)
3. I live in a verizon dead zone and will experience drops no matter what ROM I use. (Again, stock ICS should shake that out for me.)
4. Gnex has inferior radio hardware, and there is nothing to be done about it. (Doesn't seem likely.)
ALL that to say that, while I don't have an answer for you, I seem to be experiencing similar problems, and I'm trying to figure it out too.
I'll keep you updated as I hone in on a culprit of my problems. (IF I can)

You say "the AOSP" version that was released, but what exactly does AOSP mean? I know what it stands for, Android Open Source Project, but every jelly bean rom I've seen (or most) has AOSP in it and I guess I don't grasp it's actual meaning.
The only thing I know for sure is that I want stock stock stockity stock stock! When devs build roms they tend to always have some sort of a bug or two, and I just never feel like they are stable enough. So I want as stock as I can get! Which is why I installed Vicious Stock JB.
I just really don't know though...I know the nexus apparently has radio problems anyway, but...I guess I can just try the latest roms and see what happens. Are there any radios that I can install maybe that would fix this? :\

(IF I can)

Thank you kindly sir, and I will give a few other roms a shot just to see what I can find out and report back!
I tried flashing a few different roms; Liquid TORO Alpha 6, Vicious CM10 Toro, and Vicious JB 4.1.1 v1. All three of them as soon as the phone booted up showed the exact same poor 3G signal quality in the back sleeper while I'm in a dark maroon 4G area. Although I don't think I did a proper rom installation. They roms definitely installed, but it upgraded and installed over what I had...which I didn't realize it would do at all. I'll try doing it properly rom installation with a JB toro rom and then I'm going back to stock ICS to see what it looks like. I'm actually, right now, back at the truck stop that I originally noticed this problem. I'll post back.
I tried flashing back to stock 4.0.4 ICS build with the most recent radios, then I tried EK06 EK05 radios. It was the same across the board. No matter what rom/radios i use, the signal quality was the same. I lost service completely inside the building and in the sleeper it drops to 3G with incredibly poor signal quality :\ -100 dBm -120 dBm I'm going to try and get a new SIM card. if that doesn't solve it...then I guess it's time to look for a new phone :\
It seems like the developers are in a holding pattern until new radios are leaked. If it's that bad, there's no real harm in sticking w/ ICS until we get radios. Some really sweet things have been done by the community in the meantime.

well I already had vicious 4.1 installed with my apps and all that stuff and it's the same across the board. So I'll be sticking with this until something pops up I guess :\ I'm still definitely going to check about getting a new SIM card; it's the only option, short of another phone, that I can try at this poing. -shrugs- :\
Hello, I I'm using the stable version that was just released and my phone keeps switching from H, H+, to 3G every 20 seconds or so?! What am I missing here? I have flashed all of the AT&T modems and the problem still exists and drains my better! I cleared everything before installing and everything else is working fine! Just not the data connection. Please help!
Sounds like a problem with AT&T. Some quick things to try when your connection is wonky like that is to toggle airplane mode on and off. I'm in Canada, so I'm not entirely familiar with AT&T, but I have read on a few other posts that they are a little sketchy right now as they roll out LTE to more areas. Also try running with just 3g for a bit, then try LTE and see if anything changes.
Tried doing that Still having issues.
I don't have LTE in my area, so that's not the issue. I do have the HSPDA+, so I get why I see the H+.
It seems to only be with the Cyanogenmod 10 Stable ROM that was just released 2 days ago. Doesn't seem very stable to me
I even just tried installing the nightly update that came out last night to see if there was a fix, and nothing.
Hmm, okay, well, then if it was me in your shoes, what I would try would be flashing back to stock with Odin and start over from scratch again. I find that's easier than messing around with radios and modems and everything. You can find a good stock image in the android development thread that already has root injected into it. Obviously make sure you grab the right image, yadda yadda, yadda.
If you're saying that its switching between 3G, H, and H+ in succession then its doing exactly what it should be doing. Think about it. If your devices data was constantly stuck on the highest speed (the most battery draining one) your phones battery life would be horrible. What aosp based ROMs do is show the true value of your data connection. What's happening is your device is switching to the lower level data (3G) when you're not using data services and then ramping up to the higher level (H+) when you're using data services. Touchwhiz based ROMs don't do this. They lie and always show the highest level data as always being used when in fact the data levels are actually switching back and forth like you're seeing right now.

Yeah, what Task said!
Thanks, dude. I looked at it as a problem that needed fixing - but I guess if that's what it's supposed to be doing then it's not a problem at all. For some reason, I never see my data type drop from 4G.

If you're in an area with a really strong 4g signal it will stay on 4g. I've noticed that at work it stays on 4g the whole time but at home where my 4g isn't as strong it will switch back and forth.

Are you ABSOLUTELY certain about this? I will just let my phone sit there (not doing anything) and the icons go 3G, H, H+, back down to H in literally 3 seconds.
This doesn't seem right. Especially with my battery draining about 20% in a matter of 20 minutes. I figured it was because the data connection was jumping all around.
Can everyone else confirm that their phone is doing this too (jumping between all sorts of connections) that is running Cyanogenmod 10 Stable?
Oh, and I'm in a really strong "4G" area downtown Minneapolis, etc.

not sure why you would think that i would give information like this without knowing. either way. thats how its supposed to be. its flipping back and forth like that when you're not doing anything because of email syncing and things like that in the background. whether you think youre in a "strong 4g" area or not. your device knows better than you. if its switching in an area the you think its strong in, it's probably not as strong as you think if your device is saying otherwise.

Alright, thanks for the explanation. I might try it one more time tonight, but on the way to work today the data connection was flipping back and forth constantly, draining my battery as well too. I've been around the Twin Cities today (not just sitting in just 1 spot) and still happens. So I doubt the entire cities is not as strong 4G as I think :fingers-crossed:
Keep you posted.
WIFI Issues
Hi All:
I'm not sure if this the same issue as whats listed here but on CM10.0.0 Stable, wifi seems to fail to reconnect after the phone goes into sleep mode. In stock ROM, I could bring up the wifi menu by dialing *#0011# however on CM10 it doesnt work.
I know others have listed this issue on the web (not just xda) but wondering if any one has a fix? Thanks.

Okay, I'll admit when I'm wrong. Had some patience tonight and my mind wasn't playing tricks on me now that I got an explanation. Battery life is fine, and Internet connection doesn't go out when I'm on the browser ^_^
Thanks for your explanation!
hey...i know this might be a bit late but I'm on a rogers sg3 running CM10 stable as well and i mine is doing the same thing. I can understand where you are coming from because it seems that mine started doing this after i lost IMEI and restored. i think it's purely a case of me noticing things a little bit more after that whole ordeal. can't really confirm if it was doing this before but it seems to be working fine right now. recently i was in a very strong 4G(LTE) area and phone didn't switch at all...just stayed on LTE constant. At home on the other hand(rural ontario) my phone jumps around like crazy. I've even seen it go right down to E lol! So I, like yourself was a little skeptical and decided to switch back to stock and sure enought it just stayed right on H+ makiing me think that i was getting "better" service on a stock rom lol. but when i went into phone settings/about phone/status the mobile network type kept swiching even though it showed H+.
anyway...just my 2 cents. hope this puts your mind at ease
