Running #7 and MMS does work for me
I can send and receive MMS just fine with nightly 6. Some people have reported turning off wifi will help.
I'm not having this problem, but I seem to have low call sound when I'm on the phone with someone. I have the volume all the way up, and it's pretty low. Not extremely low, but it seems a lot lower compared to stock ROM.
running #7 and no dice on MMS for me..with or without wifi
just tested mine too, nightly #5 - no luck sending mms.
no issues, on nightly #7 here. did a full wipe before installing #6, then installed #7 this AM
In the past when I had issues with nightlies and mms not working a wipe usually fixed it. Also using the newest radio wouldn't hurt.

What will help even better is flashing to the stock rooted Gingerbread that is on here. No silly bugs like CM7 is riddled with

Agreed. My only issues are the MMS, which is now fixed, and the Cell Standby attacking my battery like no other. Hopefully, that will be fixed soon. CM7 is fantastic and I am extremely pleased with it. The control it gives you over performance, display, input, ect. is phenomenal.

Does MMS send over wifi? I can only get mine to send without wifi

I have seen a few threads, but no solutions.
Has anyone found a solution to what seems to be a widespread problem of not being able to send or receive MMS messages? I am rooted and running jbsourcery 5.1. Any help would be appreciated.
Never had an issue sending/receiving MMS on Nexus. I also very much doubt this is as widespread as you've tried to make it seem.
Maybe its a widespread issue with that ROM because I dont have issues and havent seen that many people complain about it. I also have never used that ROM.
EDIT: Also, from what I believe, MMS needs a data connection to go through. If you have little to no connection, this could be the problem.
Google it. Seems to be very common, especially on Verizon and sprint. Had the same issue on stock 4.2.1 as well. No matter how good connection is, it hangs on "sending". Even on wi-fi.

It doesn't use wifi to send mms. It turns data on for a brief moment to send it.

Sending MMS over WiFi is an issue. I've had it since day one with my vzw GNex. I'm used to it now. If I didn't like this phone so much I'd trade up for something else.
MMS are NOT sent/received through WiFi.

I'm on tmobile monthly and had issues with MMS in non-stock messaging apps. I had to enter the APN setting within the third party messaging app to get it to work.
i havent had an issue with mms since before sourcery 5.0 on my toroplus (when i did it was usually bc wifi was connected) but if you have wifi connection on it does cause issues. i am on sourcery 5.1.8 exp now and mms works flawlessly so it is definately not a rom issue. depending on your provider try updating prl/profile and reboot then try again, leave wifi off when you do.

Hi all,
I have been hunting around for the last three days and cannot find a unified answer as to why MMS does not work on my i747. No MMS function is kind of a deal breaker. I have changed APN settings a number of times to no avail. Switched from PA to CM and back no wipe and full wipe etc and still no dice. Does anyone have any solutions that are repeatable? If so I would love to make it known.

Does everything else work? Like phone calls, texting, and cellular data? If so, more than likely APN related. Who is your service provider?
Yeah. Everything else is fine. Sms is good and quick. Data speeds are tip top. Mms messages just stall out at "sending" I use ATT in Colorado.

Well if everything else is working properly, then I'd almost bet it's APN related. Double check, and make sure everything is entered properly, periods, spaces, capitalization. If so, and it still doesn't work, did u make a backup of stock before u ever flashed a custom ROM? If so, restore it and see if they work. Also, have u updated your modem?

Can you receive mms messages? Because I recently couldn't send picture messages, but could receive them. Turns out picasa uploader had some corrupt data. I would make sure that app isnt frozen or accidently uninstalled
Some of the newer ROMs have issues with resizing the image being sent - it is larger that AT&T will allow. I don't remember what thread it was in but someone mentioned that there was a change made to the mms.apk that caused the issue. They posted an APK that they pulled from a ROM from June (I think it may have been a CyanogenMod nightly).
--edit--
I think it was polobunny that posted it. I'm too tired to look for it but his post in reply to fastest963's post on a possible CyanogenMod resolution to the issue in the thread listed below.

I had that same problem with Slimbean. I sent them a logcat and the fix had something to do with "the lack of hugemem for kernel".
Not sure if this is applicable, but this guy posted a fix on a thread for MMS issues on a 4.3 ROM. Perhaps worth investigating?

I had the same issue as the op. I use the app handcent SMS app from the play store and that fixes the issue sometimes. I was on cyanogenmod 10.2 when I had the issue.

So it looks like I was suffering from the ATT/cm photo resizing issue that was referenced a few replies back. The most recent nightly addressed it and it seems to work well now. Going to try to send a bunch of pictures of various sizes to verify its functionality but it looks like people with ATT and i747s should be on an even playing field on CM. I wonder how soon paranoidandroid will have this update.

I have had this issue on almost all ports and CM roms. Compounded by living in a poor service area. The only consistent fix for me is what Bruce Lee suggested and use a 3rd party sms, I like GOsms personally. Actually I like stock better so I turn off notifications in Go and greenify it until I need to send a pic.

I dont think I've tried again after fixing permissions so ill try that. Thanks. If its that easy, I'll be both happy and pissed that I didn't try that. I noticed earlier in this thread someone said something about the picassa uploader. I usually freeze that app, and was just searching for what it does. If you don't mind me asking, are you aware of any issues that may cause in sending MMS? Seems to only be involved with uploading to an account, which I dont have.

Only problems I've had with MMS are as follows:
"Sending" bug - either fix with "Fix permissions" in recovery, or just using a different mms.apk from a ROM it did work on (4.3)
APN settings - only happened once on a 4.2.2 ROM, don't remember which
Never used picassa uploader, or froze it (I don't use TiBu). But recently with the 4.3 ROM's I've tried fixing permissions is all it's taken for me. Just to be safe I've made it a practice to Fix Permissions 3 times before rebooting, also clearing cache/dalvik

I'm currently using novaGen ROM cm10. I tried different MMS.apk from his mrom and also a couple themed aosp apk's I grabbed from somewhere. The weird thing is, I use cool tool to monitor data sent and speed, and I can see data slowly going out but they never complete. However gosms worked on the first try. I used TW ROMs like Goodness for a long time with the same results. I also just got a new s3 cause my IMEI and or my hardware got borked and I lost my backup, so ive eliminated the phone as the issue. I do live in a tough service area but still after 45 min it fails. I get around 25% signal strength. I have tried in a better area in the past but not too recently. Same results.
Hey everyone, got another official rom for you guys.
I've been building for a few weeks now, all running pretty smoothly on the AT&T variant. Hit me up if you guys find any issues with the Sprint build. I don't have one myself, so I am unable to test.Official CM based, so e975 kernel.

The good news: Data and GPS seem to work right off the bat, across reboots.
The bad news: It seems that I can't send texts. Also, the signal icon in the statusbar never shows any bars (though it does show the 3G icon). It appears as if I have a dead signal 100% of the time, even though I'm able to browse the internet (albeit very slowly) and make calls.
Thanks for your work!

I'll take a look at the issue this week / weekend. It's probably some stupid mistake, and I should have it fixed soon, I am just not familiar with CDMA at all yet, and don't have a device to test with myself.

Out of curiosity, I just compared sources between CM and cfXe and not really sure what I was looking for, I removed one line from the cfXe sources, built it, and boom, everything is now working:
device/lge/ls970-common/ls970-common.mk
remove line 187, ro.telephony.ril_class=LgeLteRIL \
I'm not entirely sure of the consequences, but I was getting 3G and 4G, and SMS and MMS were sending both over 3G and Wifi. Also, I noticed a dead touch area on the screen, not sure if it is my device only, but the easiest way to get there is to go to settings, and then try to click on bluetooth.
edit: looks like I have a busted digitizer
Anyone mind testing out this build? It looks like it is not quite there from my side, but I figured I may as well have someone test it out to be sure. The issue is that it is using the GSM ril instead of the ls970 specific CDMA ril. If this does not work, I should be able to get another one out real soon that does fix the issue.

First things first. Upon initial setup, the first thing that it asks you to do is to insert the device's SIM card. Obviously that doesn't apply to us CDMA folks. It allows you to skip this step, so I did. after a few seconds the phone connected to sprint and 3G data appears to be working. Signal bars are working. I was able to sign in to my google account. I haven't rebooted because I can't test much right now, but the basics seem to be working on initial boot. Can't test GPS right now. Also can't test SMS right now, apologies.

Testing this build out myself since I also have nothing to do. So far, everything is extremely fast, fluid, and stable! Have working data and everything (But then again, I'm one of the few lucky ones who never had any problems with data ). Gonna test out MMS soon. Only real problem I have with 4.3 AOSP ROMs really is the SMS issue where texts don't send over 160 characters. But I flashed the 4.2.2 messaging apparently, which usually fixes that. So far so good, though! I'm really digging it.

From what I can tell, that "fixed" data, but is still not quite correct. It is most likely just using a generic ril, and not the CDMA RIL that it is supposed to. I am going to do another test build real quick here, then hopefully push the fix before the next nightlies run.
EDIT:
Can someone test out this real quick? I am almost positive this should fix the issue, but I just want to be sure before I push.

I know Sprint's network used to ignore texts that were sent to close together. Maybe custom roms send texts to quickly, causing the network to ignore the second one.

The problem isn't sending, it's receiving. I don't get the second parts. Everyone has no problem getting what I send. I'm probably either gonna reinstall my rom or put the latest Kitkat on it
Hello guys,
Alright I am having an issue with my SMS. I currently have a Note 4 on Sprint. I can receive SMS messages, but cannot send them. I can send and receive MMS, and have no issues placing phone calls or using data. The only issue that I am running into is responding to SMS messages. I am currently running the most recent CM 12 nightly, but have tried reverting to older nightlies to see if the issue still persists. It does. Things that I have tried:
- Rebooting phone
- Reflashing nightly
- Data wipes
- Updating the ISMS
I've spent the last few hours looking at similar problems and the way that they have resolved them is by disabling Google Voice. Well, I don't have Google Voice on my phone and have no way of disabling this.
The kicker to all of this is when I wipe and reinstall my nightly, everything will work (send and receive SMS) until I shut off my phone or flash a new nightly (or until my phone dies). So I'm trying to figure out what is going on. If you have any ideas or have come across a reliable and recent solution let me know.
Thanks!
It's listed on the forum page for CM12 that they're having issues with the texting. The developers are trying their best to get it working but they aren't sure what's causing the problem.

Was there ever a nightly that had SMS working? Or has there always been this issue?

They have a temporary fix to it but every time it reboots you have to do the process again. What i know of is that they always had that problem.

Have the same problems I think. Updated to latest CM 12.1 nightly and cannot send text message to people in my contact list. It says "message sent to invalid destination check the number and try again. Error 2127. I have tried reinstalling google and syncing all contacts back in but that does not work. Tried deleting contact in phone and google then adding them again and taht does not work. I am at a loss and texting is pretty important. I am done with CM 12 if this does not get fixed. I am ready to donate but not like this..

it boggles my mind why people recommend CM. I've yet to see a stable "current" build of CM for any of my phones. I had a Sprint SGS4, and there never was a stable CM11 build.

Hear that. I gave up on CM at CM7 about 4 years ago. Never heard of a build that worked. Yet some swear by it... Go figure. :what:
