Help! May have bricked my phone! - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For the past few months I have been running CM7 with no problems, but lately I've been running into many problems at once, with bunches of apps force closing at once, not being able to download new apps, and nothing saving between reboots (downloaded apps, new widgets, etc).
I finally gave up with all this nonsense and tried a factory reset, but all my apps were still there after wiping. I was really confused and decided to revert to stock using the PB31IMG.zip file I found on another post here.
Now I'm stuck in a boot loop and am out of ideas. Can someone please help?

Slow down, you're not bricked if you can power on. If you're trying to do a complete factory reset, go here to obtain the latest stock image. Ensure your sdcard is FAT32, and put that file (renamed exactly as PB31IMG.zip) on the root of your sdcard. Pull the battery, reinsert, boot into HBOOT (by holding down power and vol down) and wait for it to load the file. Select yes (vol up) to apply update and let it do it's thing. Once done and in your "new" stock OS, unrevoked to re root.

Need serious help with white screen ASAP

alright so i was trying to install ruby and my SD card said it was full so int he porcess or trying to format my SD card i think i formatted my phones storage instead. so not knowing i went and tried to install the ruby rom like normal realizing that it would never boot so after trying to format all the partions of the phone through clockwork and still nothing worked.
so i went and decided i was gonna try and just downgrade or unroot so i ran this
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dro...wngrading.html
and placed the pb311img on the SD card and excuted it and it disabled the clockwork and all that but not it just keep hanging up in the screen that you get when you hold vol down and power and it wont do anything when i try and reboot it it just keep going back to this screen..need help ASAP as this is my only phone and i dont wanna get a refurb
The link you posted isn't working, but I am hoping it is a link to the PB31IMG.zip for downgrading the incredible and not the droid. I actually had an issue with this downgrade once, and if I am reading your post correctly you're saying that after flashing the downgrade zip it reboots you straight into the hboot where you select recovery/fastboot/clear storage etc. This happened to me as well, I went to recovery, where you have to hold Vol Up + Power to bring up the menu, where I did a factory reset. Then I rebooted back into hboot again, flashed the PB again and it rebooted fine.

[Q] incredibly re-engineered v2.20 wont boot

I flashed the incredibly re-engineered v2.2 rom a week or so ago and it worked great till today it was giving me a force close on a bunch of apps, so i restared it and it still didn't help. Did a *228 and when it restated it just goes to the black screen that says htc incredible Loading then after several seconds it flashes blank for half a second then says same thing. I used rom manager to flash it. I've also used virtuous and skyraider 3.5. I'm good at computers but android is new to me as i've only had this fon 2 months. I have to do a battery pull to restart it. Any Ideas on how to fix this? I can boot into recovery but havn't been able to do anything... Never used it so not sure what to look for but like when i click recovery or factory reset, nothing happens. Oh, and i did a search but didn't come up with similiar problem.
htc incredible s-off
radio 2.15.00.07.28
Flash a different rom.
sent from my Dinc
How do I do that? When I boot in recovery mode I have option of fastboot, recovery, clear storage, simlock, and factory reset. When I select recovery it goes to bootloader, reboot, reboot bootloader, and power down, with reboot highlighted. Wen I select that it boots like normal than gets stuck on boot up screen.
Try fixing permissions through Rom Manager first, if not I would reinstall the rom. Be sure to do a full wipe, don't just flash over your previous rom.
If neither of those work, I would follow this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786436
Flash back to stock 2.2 and see if your phone starts acting the same way. If so I would take it back to verizon. If everything seems ok, re-root and flash JUST the rom and apps that you want, no kernel, themes, anything extra yet. See if that fixes the problem.
I made sure I did full wipe when I installed it so that shouldn't b problem. The issue Is i can eve get to rom manager because he Fon wont load past the boot image. And its out of warany so vzw prolly wuldnt be much help.

I would re-download a different ROM (making sure you don't have a corrupt download), check the MD5 SUM's to verify integrity of your download, mount USB Storage in Recovery to transfer the file to your USB card (when phone is off, hold down the Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time), wipe all user data/factory reset and Dalvik, and then reflash the ROM of your choice.

Go to that link in my post, download the PB31IMG from the 2.2 Stock OTA, put it on the root of your SD card, boot into the bootloader and let it update. You will go back to being completely stock and unrooted. Root it and then try installing the rom again.

[Q] Hard Reset Droid Incredible Unsuccesful

I installed android Cyanogen then I use ROM Manager to download Virtuous 3.2 ROM. When installed, I did not choose to wipe data. Bumb. After the installation, it keeps rebooting and could not get into the phone. I tried hard reset, "clear storage" and factory reset, no help. When I get into RECOVERY, it shows a list of options but when I hit power button to select, it showed a black hat with a yellow partially circle arrows. What can I do other than with a hammer? Thanks.
Download this file
http://www.fourty.net/~berzerker/stockstuff/PB31IMG_3.26.605.1_RUU.zip
rename it to PB31IMG.zip, put it on the root of your SD card. Boot up the phone while holding vol - & pwr. When it boots into bootloader it will check the image to verify everything is ok, proceed with the update all the way through. When it is all done it will be back to a a stock 2.2 Inc like when you bought it from verizon.
Now, please read up on the information here before you go doing anything else. What happened to you is a simple fix, but the next time you may go about bricking your phone. Read up on the information here before you go flashing like crazy, it will help a ton in the end.
g00s3y,
Thank you very much for your advice. You fixed the problem. I have learned my lesson, playing with something that I am not sure how to deal with the outcomes.
Thanks, so after I install this, will I be able to completely wipe my phone?
"will I be able to completely wipe my phone?"
- Yes, it did wipe out my phone completely.

so i tried to root my g2...

So... as the title says I tried to root my phone. I'm following the CM 7 wiki guide and i got up until step 6 but I did not install cyogenmod 7 I just rebooted (i thought you just reboot and hey it installs but i guess not). So it rebooted to the original rom and then I just downloaded ROM manager again to install it. It goes through clockwork and then it reboots again so... i thought it successfully installed but it didn't because my phone was stuck on the HTC boot up screen unresponsive. So, I've been googling and so I pulled the battery and did the whole power on + volume down. It took me to the screen with fastboot, recover, and stuff but then it changed screens to the could not find PC10img.zip and wanted me to update. So i updated it again and it rebooted to the HTC screen and stayed there. Pulled the battery again, took out the SDcard, and then did the whole power up + volume button. Now I can choose the options in this screen (fastboot, recover, factory reset, simlock, system info, image crc).
Now I don't know what to do.... I want to continue to root to cyogenmod but I'm soo confused how to get back to installing it properly. Thanks for the help in advance!
edit
perhaps, i might just have to delete the PC10img.zip file? i have an mircoSDcard reader at home and if I delete it then loading into hboot should be fine..... right?
update: nevermind! i fixed it!

[Q] Glide wont reboot stright into Recovery

I am not new to the concept of rooting and loading a custom rom. This is the 3rd android phone that I have bothered with. However it is the first one I have had to use Odin to root or push files to.
I have used CarpeNoctem's writeup on how to root and utkanos' CWMR port writeup. Ofter verifying I had root, I decided I would try out Carpe's OsiMood. No problem right? Here is where I am wondering what if anything went wrong on the previous steps.
I made a back up ofter finally getting it to recovery mode, and when I tried flashing the new rom, it would not complete the process.
As it sits, when I choose recovery from CWM it reboots to the android with triangle screen(see attached video). What concerns me is the lack of fluidity into the recovery, the fact that it loads in only after the battery is removed and the phone is turned back on and lastly that I cannot flash a new rom.
It appears as though I need more posts to add my link for youtube.
Please add standard youtube weblink before this to watch the video.

What would you recommend my first action be?
Thanks,
Steve
This also quite unfortunate for ROM manager, "somewhat", not working fully for the Glide (yet). I can't really go into 3e/CWM recovery with the app, but manually (volume down + power/lock button) has no problems. This also happens on my Captivate (SGH-I896/7), I need to restart the device for a second time to boot into recovery. As per your flashing issues, you might need to mount /system manually and then flash the ROM, when it fails, try and try again, always happens to me from stock rogers ROM. Also, if you have Titanium Backup, it now supports reboot device features (recovery and hard reboot)
Thanks for your insight. I tried volume down and power before but when I saw the samsung logo pop up I figured it wouldn't work.
I will try flashing again and report back. Thanks again.
-Steve
Tried flashing again, worked great. If only the glide had more support. Lol.
Currently running OsiMood.

My glide does not boot. I can get into Download Mode. I can NOT get into de recovery mode. I think my NAND is corrupted.
How can I mount the /system partition? Because I flashed too many roms with ODIN, but nothing, still not booting, I get stuck in the samsung logo.
Use Odin to reflash recovery, you backups should still be there unless like you say maybe they got corrupted as well, but its worth a shot.

I've already flashed the stock recovery, the CWM, a lot of kernels, even I tried to flash the kernel and bootloader of the Galaxy S II, but nothing.
I'm starting to think that maybe is a hardware problem. Hope not, but I'm not moving foward.
If you havent already, pull out the sim and sd card.
Reboot your pc and download a fresh up to date Odin.
So when you flash it says it successful and then just doesnt boot?
I had a boot loop once ,had me stumped and it turned out to be my sd card was poached and caused the loop.

Exactly... It goes all over the process bar, says succesfull, the phone turns off, and nothing. The phone not even restart itself, I have to remove the battery, put it back again, and then it turns on, but just to show me the samsung logo.
I've used the ODIN version 1.85 and the new one 3.04. But nothing. This is so frustating.

I've opened a thread with all the symptoms of my bricked phone:

Please, tell me there is a solution...
There are one alternative to boot
1. Shut down and then restart phone in recovery mode. For the Samsung Captivate Glide, this required pressing the power, volume down and home keys all at the same time.
2. The initial screen which appears gives you a choice of loading a replacement OS (volume up) or entering recovery mode (volume down). Note you have to hold the volume down key for several seconds before the recovery mode menu appears.
