Does anyone have any solid info about the ETA on the GB OTA?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Soon is pretty much all that has been said.
It has been said q2 but that has come and gone and no ota.
It was already leaked and compiled for flashing.
The "solid" info about the OTA: it's not out yet, like promised.
Just be patient .
should be soon. evo and inc2 have it already. we should be next I hope.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
Simply because Murphy likes to kick me whenever he can, it should be soon. Based on the point I lost patience waiting for it and I finally got off my lazy butt and flashed a new ROM, the OTA should probably drop a few seconds after I finish configuring my newly flashed device to my liking.
I'm seriously questioning if it will actually happen or not.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
My understanding is that dinc will get GB, it is just a question of when. Hopefully it rolls out in the month of July.

Yeah, I keep flashing between stock froyo and the current GB leak just incase the OTA comes out and I missed it. I'm truely wondering why I even care. Haha. It probably won't be any different than the current leak.
I guess with me being some kind of "serial flasher" as my friend Tim calls me, I just can't help but expect something really awesome to happen when I flash a new rom. I just can't help myself.

The kernel source would be a definite advantage. I know then we could have some overclock action. I was hoping that maybe they would incorporate some of the sense 3.0 options aswell. Mainly the lockscreen its sick!!

Cool deal. Ill be really jumping into all of this tomorrow. I'm on winter break for 3 weeks so I got some time to kill. My first prioriaty is dumping everything, then I can dive into getting clockwork built, odin working, overclock/underclock kernels with ext2, lagfix, and some decent rom ports over here. (AOSP, Sense) Maybe even seeing about getting a team together for cyanogenmod on here.

Once we get Clockwork going, I'll be happy to test any ROMs. Between this and Gingerbread going to AOSP, this could get exciting quick....

I think we already are living without a fully functioning Ticker.... I would like to see a ROM that improves upon it....
1. third-party SMS and e-mail (Handcent/Gmail) support
2. ability to set refresh intervals
3. ability to drop a 4x1 widget into the Ticker (Tweetdeck or Pandora for example)
these are just a few things that I think would improve the Ticker... I'm sure there is a LOT more that can be done with this thing.
Also, our capacitive buttons (menu, home, back, search) are part of the screen, this is unlike other phones.... These will need to be added into any ROMs as well....
Not trying to be negative or pushy... Just want the devs to know what they're getting into...
How we doing on the stock system dump?

I was just curious if anyone had any info on why we haven't seen any new froyo leaks since DK28. I realize DK28 was OTA'd to some phones so that's why we got that, but before that version we already had DK17, DK05, and DJ29. Did our sources for these dry up? DK28 works pretty well for me (I'm currently running Nebula 1.0.7), but an improved modem would be great if available. Please understand I'm not whining, I'm just curious why we never saw DL16 or whatever it was.
I was wondering about this as well. I'm thinking maybe they fired the dude who gave us the original leaks. But my guess is as good as yours.
I doubt it. I don't think there will be any leaks till the the finished version is done.

It would have been nice if they let these leaks to continue so we can "beta" test it for them with a clause that it's our own risks.
This way they can improve it and fix the bugs faster.

A friend of mine has an EVO, I do not nor have I ever used an evo before. He wanted a custom ROM installed and asked me for help. I would greatly appreciate any help offered by the community.
1. What ROM is closest to stock(If gingerbread is out for it then a gingerbread build would be nice), just tweaked/debloated/deodexed/zip aligned etc.
2. How well is CM7 running on the EVO? I have a captivate and CM7 right now is pretty unstable this is going to be his main ROM and he isnt too technical.
3. What rom has a good/easy update flow. Maybe something with rom manager where he can just click update and all is well in the world.
Thank you SO much in advance.

There are plenty of stock roms and there is a couple gingerbread floating around somewhere i believe as well so your winning on that.

Flashing a Custom (even stock) Rom and then not wanting to update to the latest and greatest...ya....ok....NOT. Your friend will get a taste of what this is like and BOOM...hooked. The Rom I linked has a great OP in support. Enjoy the fun that you already know is gonna take hold of the phone your about to set free!
EDIT: Thought I'm sure this goes without saying, but will do anyway. Remind them......DO NOT...accept OTA updates even if they can...just sayin..lmao

Most of you guys probably only want AOSP, but for those of you with extra time on your hands and with nothing else to do I present to you my first ROM, built from Shipped ROM.
The ROM is completely zipaligned, deodexed, and most Verizon Bloatware apk.s are removed. If there are any remaining, please let me know in the comments.
This should be one of the fastest Stock ROMs available. I know other people may have created the same kind of ROM, but please, don't flame on me.
Of course, this ROM still runs Android 2.2.1, however I hope to update that in future test version, as well as AOSP.
I also must warn you, the file size is a gigantic 240MB. If all goes well with this test ROM, AOSP will be next

At the IO google said that they would release JB developer tools for JB. So will we have the full potential of 4.1 JB?
I ask this because JB probably won't be released (offically) for our phone.
PS: do you think the performance boosts of JB will have an significant effect on our phone? It seemed to on the nexus.
Probably not. We don't have kernel source for ICS as it is, even though our phone is slated to get it, but I wouldn't count on it so getting JB to work on our phone is highly unlikely.

I'm 76% sure we will get ICS. They have it for the S and they said they would release it at the end of August.
You must consider that JB is just an updated ICS. So we don't need an offical JB to have it running 100%. And Google will have a dev tool out that may help us. Lastly they have a dump floating around. Chances are that we can use that to help us build a 100% working ASOP JB build. But this all depends on when or if we get ICS.

And you believe everything HTC and Verizon tells you...? that Dev tool is worthless if it doesn't include specific Dinc 2 files that goes once again back to kernel source. That dump isn't as useful to us as you think otherwise we would have fully working ICS on our phones from ICS dumps. Trust me, if it were as simple as you believe it is, our devs would have done it already. The situation with JB is pretty much the same as ICS if not worse since there is also the issue of resizing XHDPI JB to WVGA because there are no JB phones with WVGA resolution. Don't quote me on that last part, but I'm sure a dev can correct me or explain it better.

Nexus S will receive the update and it is a single core WVGA phone. So, I'll be looking closely on feedback from Nexus S users. That should give us an idea of the performance gains that we can theoretically expect, if any, over ICS. And there is no need to be overly cynical about HTC and their promise of giving us ICS. They said they will by August end and so just wait for it. Regardless of what may have happened in the past, you will just burden your mind with needless thoughts...

They said to be determined by the end of August which is a big difference. And honestly at this point I don't really care if we get official ICS anymore I'm pretty content with the work that our devs have done so far without it, if official ICS is so important to some of these users they might as well have just stayed stock and waited for an OTA. I don't mean to take this out on you personally, but these threads about JB and "perfect and bugless" ICS roms have gotten ridiculously out of hand. Not to mention the amount of user that lack to read the threads let alone the OP when it comes to figuring out what bugs exist. Its been clarified by reps at both HTC and VZW that what they meant was that the date is to be decided but that we will have it by the end of August. Take that for what you will, as I don't believe there has been anything official that clarifies this. I am pretty confident that we will get it and can only hope that we will get kernel source soon after.
Back to the OP's question, I highly doubt that we will have a 100% working JB rom anytime soon considering we still have issues on ALL of our ICS roms. Once we have official ICS our awesome dev's will probably be able to get JB working well pretty quickly.

HTC has to release kernel source regardless because of the Chinese OTA they released. It might be as late as October, but they have to release it regardless or else they'd be in violation of some law that has an acronym I can't remember.

OTA ICS will (should) help remove many of the small bugs we have with Camera etc... And once we get a hand on our kernel source, I believe devs will be knee deep in Jellybean goodness... The main reason why I am looking forward for the OTA is for the kernel source... Hell no I am going to go stock.. Once the kernel is up, I am gonna go with Nits' Sense 4 ROM!
The To be determined thing is crappy of them... They say on their FB page that the "Release Date" is the thing to be determined, NOT whether it gets ICS or not... which makes sense given it is in the table of release dates and given they previously confirmed to give it ICS... anyway, time will tell... No breaking my head on this...

OTA ICS will (should) help remove many of the small bugs we have with Camera etc...

We really only need the kernal for ASOP. IC sense 3.6 has fully working cam.... IDK about video. Phone video is pointless because it has low FPS and the audio is terrible.
Why is camera always better on sense?

Yeah, I should try that ROM too, sometime... I was wondering how functional it is... The Sense 4 ROM has some issues with GPS too (if you toggle it, it will not come back on). But I don't like how Sense 3.6 is.
Even if we don't get an OTA HTC still has to release source because of the Chinese and Inc S ICS OTA. That's why I don't understand why some of the other users are so anxious for an official OTA, even with these other OTAs flash timing appears to still have not been fixed, whatever that is I haven't had it happen personally (knock on wood). We all need to relax and just wait for source to be posted and let the devs do their thing.
On a different topic, anyone else thing the default sig on the XDA app is kind of redundant?

In my experience it was bugless (IC 3.6) although it was laggy. It was laggy in the wrong places (homescreen, and scrolling through certain apps) and smooth in the wrong places (app drawer, GP, settings).
You need to check it out

I agree, there were a few things that happened recently that have gotten us excited..... (The S getting ICS and JB)....... but we need to chill out. And in the mean time enjoy what we DO have, and not think about what we don't and might not get.
Funny thing is this thread only exists becuase of the recent changes.
