upto what resolution does it handle ?
480 I guess. But you may try 720 playback patch.
I tried a custom Chinese rom which supports 720p recording, and took some 720p chips. Now they can't be played after I went back to "stock" 2.2 rom.
i am on stable 7.0.3... is there a way to enable 720p playback and recording? tried lots of alternate camera (3 versions of miui), anrecorder, lgcamera and 720p recording fail on all of them. MY guess is that as cm7 cannot even play 720p, it cannot record it... is there an addon to flash to enable it?
i have installed vorkkernel but still no 720p
anyone? any idea?
Why not ask this in CM7 ROM thread?
My guess is that 720p is disabled in all ASOP ROMs and is only enabled in some hacked ROMs.
By the way, with CM7 ROM you can play 720p video.
will try to ask in cm7 thread thx but these threads are a bit difficult to follow and you hardly get replies.
are you sure it can play 720p video?? what format are you referring to? mp4? i have tried some mp4 720p.. it does not play with hardware decoding.. with software decoding, the video is very very slow and audio is like 5 or more minutes out of sync with vid
I flashed this ROM but found that 720p playback is not smooth. How to fix? Thanks!

I think you need a good SD card, ex: C10
or use other player to playback, ex: Moboplayer

Thanks for your reply ..... but I found 720p playback is smooth when I was using Insertcoin 1.0.5 A2SD+
This problem also exists when I flashed Insertcoin V45 A2SD+ / Insertcoin 1.0.8 A2SD+
Anyone has the same problem?
Thanks!
Same problem here with Insertcoin v45 and class10-sdcard
Playing a youtube HD trailer(720P) is smooth on RCMixHD v2.0.
Recording 720P however is NOT smooth, so if you play your recorded movie, it is not smooth of course. Maybe you mean that recording 720P is not smooth...?

I didn't record 720P video after flashing the RCMix S v2.0 / Insertcoin v45 / Insertcoin 1.0.8 (all are A2SD+ version) ...... so, it's not relating to video recording ... I think.
Actually, I wanted to find out what happened and I flashed the Insertcoin 1.0.6 yesterday ... I found that the playback of 720P video is also not smooth (same as RCMix S v2.0 / Insertcoin v45 / Insertcoin 1.0.8). It looks like Insertcoin 1.0.5 playing 720P at 30fps but the newer ROMs playing 720P at 15fps.
I just want to know is it my own problem or the others suffer the same?

Videocodec compatibility problem?
Have you tried another videoplayer like Moboplayer or Rockplayer for instance? (I haven't seen you answering this question yet)
On RCMix S v2.0 a 720P youtube HD movie trailer(Movie: The Road)seems to play OK, but maybe this isn't the right thing to test since I know youtube 720P is nowhere a 720P blueray rip. I don't think 720P from youtube is that much compressed, thus less quality in most cases.

Same problem with Moboplayer. And I also tried Insertcoin v44 and the playback also not smooth, too. Is it due to other factors such as the version of Radio?
flashed it an hour back and the video playback is laggy as hell, its barely watchable can anyone help me out please

I can't help with a solution at the moment and I must admit I was skeptical about your statement, but after checking, it does appear(from my observations) there is a noticeable lag in video playback on my Sony XPERIA LT26i JB 6.2.B.0.200 release with DoomKernel v1
I have a mkv(H.264,AC3) 720p video I know very well and use as a video benchmark and it should be smooth with no lag as it was on ICS on an XPERIA S.
The video has some structural components of a spaceship which is panned from end to end over an extended period and it's easy to spots frame lag/drops.
I have viewed the video in both MX Player Pro and BSPlayer, with Hardware encoding enabled and there does appear to be a visual lag.
I enabled settings->Developer Options->force GPU rendering in settings and this made no difference.
Using my old XPERIA X10i I played the same 720p mkv using BSPlayer and it was very smooth with no noticeable lag.
Something is a bit odd when an Adreno 200 plays videos better than an Adreno 220.
Hi, as you guys should know, the S5 Mini stock can play video at 720p 60fps and 1080p 30fps with no problem, now at 1080p 60fps it struggles a lot, seems like the hardware cant handle it
I dont want to lose my time making a backup data and flashing a custom rom just for testing
So if someone has an overclocked kernel already installed please tell me if you're able to play video at 1080p 60fps smoothly, thanks.
Why would you want that? Screen is 720p. And what kind of playback do you mean? Youtube or mp4?
Kernels cant double the performance or so, dont expect roms to run faster than stock...
