mkv avi playback - Defy General

upto what resolution does it handle ?

480 I guess. But you may try 720 playback patch.
I tried a custom Chinese rom which supports 720p recording, and took some 720p chips. Now they can't be played after I went back to "stock" 2.2 rom.

720p video recording

Hi,
I am using MIUI-XJ 1.6.17 with android 2.3.4. how do i enable 720p video recording for the camera?...The max video setting that I can see is "High(30m)". Is this another way of writing 720p?...
My stock HTC sense froyo ROM was able to record(and play) 720p videos without any hitch.
BTW i am also unable to play 720 .mp4 videos downloaded from youtube. Have tried all the major players available in the market without success.
Please help!!!
Thanks and Regards
Shilp
Like all aosp roms miui does not support 720p recording. If you want to use 720p recording, you have to flash a sense rom. Already tried rockplayer to play your mp4 files?

[Q] CM7 Video resolution settings

I have a issue with the video recorder in CM7. I had this in RC1v2 and also in latest nightly, don't know in versions before that.
I can't use the high and youtube resolution setting. I can select them, but when I press the record button nothing happens. The other settings, for example wide, do work.
Is this normal? If not is there a sollution to solve this?
I installed Nordic rom and reinstalled CM7 latest nightly, that didn't solve my issues.
However changing the frame rate for the encoder profiles (in media_profiles.xml) to 24 did. (this was a suggestion in the developers forum). Now I can use all resolution settings.
My defy has red lens.
During testing I also noticed that the standard bitrate for the high and wide recording setting are really high.
For a 640x480 (high) mp4 video it is 10000 kb/s
For a 848x480 (wide) mp4 video it is 8000kb/s
This a lot higher then most good looking xvid 720p movies I have , which are around 2000 kb/s.
I now use 1300 kb/s (high) and 1500 kb/s (wide) which seems to give usable results but with a lot smaller videos.
Which settings do other people use/suggest?
Try the newest LG Cam (free) from market an set it to these parameters:
video resolution: 848x480
video encoder: mpeg4
video file format: mpeg4
video bitrate: 8
video framrate:24
audio encoder: ACC
audio samplerate: 44100
audio bitrate: 62900
and check force autofocus before capture
This works great on mey Defy (red lense)!

[Q] Laggy 720p and 1080p playback

Hello. I have a problem with HD viedo playback with my defy. Its lags, quite a lot, with 480p fine. meybe there is a optimization tool?
Dey running on CM7 , for playback i use RealPlayer 1.72
for me its working flawlessly cm7 @1000 mhz
I don't think that can handle 1080p content.
okay, 1080p may be too much but 720p...
tried overclock even up to 1200mhz

Settings for BEST possible video recording quality?

Only had my Desire HD about 3 weeks, rooted last week, installed Lg Camera Pro.....but as I know absolutely ZERO when it comes to any kind of camera/camcorder stuff...what is the best setting for best possible video quality?
Options under video resolution are:
640 x 480
704 x 576
720 x 480
800 x 480
960 x 720
1280 x 720
Then I have video encoder options:
Default
H.263
H.264
MPEG4
Then: Video file Format
MPEG4
3GP
File size at the end of the recording is not an issue, as I have a big SD card and don't record to much video, but when I do record I want it to be the very very best possible.
Any help - very very much appreciated.
cheers
Matt
Hi matt
For me, the best possible video output is 800x480 with MPEG4 as format. Stable 50fps under bright place and still manage to maintain 20+ fps in low light. Recording in full HD is nice, but limited to 30fps at most and low audio bitrate. Also, try to adjust the sharpness to -1 or -2. It will improve the fps. There's also a thread for DHD camera guide I guess. For better compression, I choose the H.264 format.

[QUESTION][G800F] Playback at 1080p 60fps

Hi, as you guys should know, the S5 Mini stock can play video at 720p 60fps and 1080p 30fps with no problem, now at 1080p 60fps it struggles a lot, seems like the hardware cant handle it
I dont want to lose my time making a backup data and flashing a custom rom just for testing
So if someone has an overclocked kernel already installed please tell me if you're able to play video at 1080p 60fps smoothly, thanks.
Why would you want that? Screen is 720p. And what kind of playback do you mean? Youtube or mp4?
Kernels cant double the performance or so, dont expect roms to run faster than stock...
