Hey XDA,
I just upgraded my G1 to Evo4g (finally). Since my Evo has 2.3.3, I'm yet to root and throw a custom rom on it. In due time, I'm sure the genii, here at XDA, will solve this problem. So, in the mean time, I have been messing around with the settings, and options, as most people do with a brand new phone. I have come to the conclusion that I like the Gingerbread keyboard layout better than that of the Swipe. On the other hand, I have been playing around with the Swipe feature, and have decided that I would like to get more fluent with the Swipe. Bringing us to the question at hand...
Is there a way to enable the Swipe feature on the Gingerbread Keyboard? If no easily available method can attain this task, what is required to accomplish this?
Thanks in advance.
-P.S. I apologize if this post is threaded in the wrong place, and would you please point me in the appropriate direction (this is my 1st post ever on a fourm).

Hi so I'm not very happy about the autorotation on Froyo. I want to have it like it was on Eclair, that is not to rotate to the right if the phone tilts to it, but only autorotate to the left.
Is there a way to do this, I'm getting insane since I want to liedown and type in landscape without hassle.
Thanks for any help
Ps is it only my autorotation that has a very slow response since Froyo update?
I don't actually think there is a way. At least I haven't seen one, haven't heard it mentioned, or can think of where it would be. As for the lag I haven't had any. I've actually been amazed at how snappy my phone is now.
You could try a home replacement application.
It's a Sense ROM feature that HTC implemented, which I really hate!
I am running launcher pro plus, but it's control can't take determine the systems rotation.
Also I sent an email to an creator of apps about this. Also whom changed the headline it look to be a miss comprehension of my first post? (using the xda app).
I can tilt to right, center and left but want control of the tilts.
Hey guys first post here. Just got my EVO last week. Currently running the latest virus rom with KingKlick kernel. Awesome forum here lots of educated guys. Question is: is it possible to lets say use swype for messages and touch input for dolphin browser? Customize input methods for apps. What input methods do you guys recommend. I really like swype for texting but that is about it.
Currently, the short answer is no. You have to manually change them anytime you want to use a different keyboard. The easiest way to do it is to long press an input box, hit input methods, and then select the one you want to use. Its a little work, but currently that's the best you can do. I'm sure Android could somehow be modified to make it work, but my uneducated guess is its fairly deep in the system and would require a lot of work to makes such a thing automatic.
I have just recently flashed 2.3.4 to my Epic 4G from 2.1. The first thing I noticed (besides how much prettier everything was) was that if I were to click on a word I had already typed into the messaging app--i.e. to correct a typo-- it would automatically jump to the end of that word. This is massively frustrating. I have now flashed to RandomROM Thunderhawk 1.1, and the messaging app still has that feature, as does every messaging app alternative I use: Handcent, GO SMS Pro, etc.
What I want is for it to not behave this way. I want the cursor to stay exactly where I press. I looked around in the general settings and in the forums and haven't found anything. Any ideas, anyone?
No responses? This is very uncharacteristic from what I've seen on XDA. Does anyone have any ideas? At this point I've just quartered my typing speed, so that I make sure I make absolutely no mistakes-- which has made me notice almost every mistake is the physical keyboard not actually picking up a key press, an interesting bit of information on its own-- but I would really like some help, if anyone knows how.
Alright, when using your browser ,on your p.c. or even your phone, a secure connection would start off with "https://", correct?! My question is, do you think there is an added security when placing the "s" to the "http://" in your build.prop on the lines labeled "ro.url.legal=http://........." and the "ro.url.legal.android_privacy=http://........." I mean, I've pretty much made it a habit of doing it every single time I flash a new ROM. Just wondering if anyone knew if it actually does any good? If so, why don't ROM Dev's place it in there? I kinda like my privacy and seeing as how Google is such a great violator of that, yet dealing with Android based phones so hard to get away from, I kind of feel an ease just sliding that one letter into those two little spots if it helps even in the slightest. Thanks for your answer(s)/help in advance.
So I'm not sure how to go about describing this issue, so I'll just take a stab at it by saying that the android keyboard will not ever autocorrect "youre" to "you're". Instead it would rather correct it to "your". Yes this bothers me a lot because now I have to manually spell out that word whenever I use it. Is there some setting in the android keyboard that I'm missing that makes it understand the difference between your and you're? Some default setting perhaps? I've already cleared out my personal dictionaries for this as well as attempted to add "youre" manually to the personal dictionaries but go figure, the phone won't let that happen. The other reason I'm using the android keyboard is because ever since jellybean came out, the default lg keyboard in the phone seems to have become very slow. And by that I mean I can type faster than the key pop ups have time to pop up. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
Since you've done the only things I could think about, I'm sorry I can't be more helpful. My only recommendation would be trying a different keyboard, I've used Swiftkey for years and really enjoy it! You can try a free trial (1month). Otherwise just try some other free ones?
