Every time I pull down my notification screen on my HTC Desire I see this ugly "US Cellular" at the top. I've looked in settings and didn't find anything. I have also looked around, but my search terms are a bit too ambiguous to find what I am looking for. Is there anyway to change that to something more tasteful, or am I out of luck?
Thanks for any help
I'm not entirely sure, but I think you can change this using theme kitchen, google uot kitchen ( it won't let me post links)
All the instructions are there, it looks quite straightforward though I haven't tried to remove the carrier myself.

I've tried that with uot and all it did for me was put whatever I wrote in uot on top of my carrier name.

I've been searching, and don't even really know where to begin to look for this, but I want to change the background on the taskbar and the bottom quick launch. I started making my own custom cab's for hd pics, but the taskbar (genesis energy rom) has the hex honeycomb still in it. Anyone have an idea on how to change this or point me in the right direction? Included a pic of what I'm talking about.
You might want to look around the themes.... section, lots of links to resources, and if you can't find what you are looking for one of the experts will be able to help I'm sure.

Thanks...after spending about 2-3 hours of looking around, I found this.

maybe this is out of my league...
but is it pretty much as easy as extracting the images, changing there colours (maybe using photoshop??) and then re packaging and updating my hero?
if its not too much harder could someone point me towards a guide, or if im smack on, lead me to the apk i have to extract? theres no "sense" apk and i did not find any images in the rosie apk!
i would really appreciate this, thanks in advance
im jus using winrar to extract the apk's, so far i have found alot of the images but i havnt come across any that id like to change
edit #2
ok so i was looking through and have started to figure out how they sorted all there files... but i was wondering if there was like universal png's somewhere? cuz it seems like every apk has its own black bar at the top (for the pull down tray)
maybe this is in the wrong forum?
try looking in the themes thread, i am sure I saw a guide to creating themes somewhere...
take a look at the Dream/Magic/Sapphire boards there are several threads about this

should help
Ok, so I searched that exact search string and did not see anything like it so here is my question....
I am using Zone23's EVO-Zone Riptide Rom. I love the ROM and the theme has everything I like except for the little Android guy. I like the blue, but as much as I dislike Apple as well I can do without the little crossed out apple on Andy's chest. I modified photoshopped it and it came out just fine. I thought maybe that was the same one used in the list of contacts too but when I list my contacts, you can see the small Andy with the crossed out apple on his chest in the list. I am looking for what apk file find that little icon. I have tried the following apks and did not see it. I am hoping someone may know:
phone.apk
htcdialer
contacts provider
htccontacts
phone
I did find the large one in: Phone.apk\res\drawable-hdpi\phone_default.png
I have attached the examples of what I did thus far and the one icon I am trying to change.
Thanks in advance for any help!
I changed the avatars all at once....so I'm not sure what is what, but there are 2 more in
system\framework\com.htc.resources\res\drawable-hdpi

Yep, that did it. Never would have thought to look there. Lots of good things to change in that folder. Thanks for the help!
No problem, man.
Well, I've always worked with Froyo (way easier tbh, since it lacked SystemUI.apk)...anyways, I'm just trying to figure out which image is the notification background in this picture? I'm sure I can find the XML's affiliated with it, just need the image name and location.
Its status_bar_item_app_background_normal.9 i believe found in framework.res/res/drawable hdpi. Hope this is what your looking for.
The .9.png files are a while 'nother animal. Be sure to search the Android Themes section on how to edit these files if you haven't done it before.

I'll give this a shot.
Hello everyone
Let me know if I can get a list of names of the icons displayed on the menu.
I want to create a theme icons but it is hard to see any apps that name carries.
For example facebook: icon_launcher_facebook.png but there are applications that do not respond to this syntax.
Any idea?
Maybe this helps a bit, there is a icon set theming tutorial in one of first posts of the following thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747433
There is a activity finder and a tutorial.

Yes I read the details of the post.
My idea is to create a theme for the stock sense and not for the venom (using a framework for the icons).
I know but i thought it might be helpful to understand some more about the logic behind it......

I think it's completely different.
I'm looking on google for days but could not find anything about it.
I avoid using rom with non-standard options (see venom, virtuous, etc.) simply because these options change from smartphone to smartphone.
So it is more logical to rely on the standard android instead of trying mods that are born and die in the same way.
Then im afraid i can't give you the answer how to do it atm......ah well at least i tried
