Yep, Camera 360 is the best
miui camera if you dont need fancy effects
Camera360 is a great choice.
I have used pretty much all of them and have finally stuck with vignette as it produces slightly better low light images than the rest IMO.

I love cm7 but the HTC camera app pulls me back to sense
Can you please recommend me camera apps

I use vignette, as good if not better

Camera 360 Ultimate is pretty cool though I find the stock HTC camera application is still better.
I'm looking for alternatives so I can use cm7 with a good camera app

I also use Vignette.
best cam app.
Best camera application ever is pudding camera it has great effects , you can download it from android market
I use camera360 mostly for HDR image, vignette for normal shot..
I was wondering if it is really possible to create those kind of pictures included in the gallery of Desire HD using the default camera app?
Can anyone recommend a good general purpose camera app? Since switching to CM9 my the picture quality has significantly decreased with the AOSP camera vs the TW camera. The top hits on the play store are all retro/filtered apps which isn't what I'm looking for. I don't mind if the app has filters but I don't want it to be the main focus. Ideally I'm looking for something equivalent to the the Camera+ app on iOS.
Thanks,
vignette is decent imo
Camera Zoom Fx is a good app
It is rated as the best camera app for Android by lifehacker.

I use both vegnette and camera zoom fx. Both are great paid apps.
For a good free camera app try fxcamera.

but at least I didn't post it in the development forum ;-)
Thanks for all the suggestions. I wish google had a longer trail period. 15min just isn't enough time to do a real comparisons between all the apps suggested, CM9 and TW.
Anyway, what from what I was able to test, I didn't see any significant differences in full auto mode and the stock CM9 camera. When I get a chance I'll have to flash back to TW and take some test shots and see if there's an actual difference or if I'm just imagining it.
I'm not that completely bothered about effects, I just want an app that is better than stock, does anyone know of one?
Thanks.

Ucam is my favorite, I've been using it for months and pro version is awesome!

Ucam has lot of options, it's a really underrated app...
By the way I don't think there is an app which will give you better quality results than the stock one.
You just have to compare the image quality of the preview (i mean before taking a photo/video) of the stock camera with any other thirdy app. Except the stock one, all of them are showing some kind of granulated image

Try Camera FX.. it is very good! 31x zoom

I've tried them all, but none of then have a touch-to-focus. I have seen one called Camera FV-5, which is more professional, but I'm wondering if anyone here would be so kind to test it to see if it's worth the price tag.
Thank you.

Procapture gives you the capability to shot with volume rocker (only pro version)
And another good app is fast burst camera

Better stick with the stock camera. It's the best afaik.

I'm using it right now and you get so many options! Totally worth it, i've wasted so much money trying out good camera apps and the best ones are HDR Camera+, Afterfocus and Camera FV-5 being the best one.

I've settled on this one. I'm no professional but this should have been the stock app in my opinion.

Try Vignette , it have few nice Features
Try LG Camera I've always found that one pretty good
JB stock camera
Question always should be:
What types of images do you want to take. For just party-shots you wont need a paid app...
Try using camera zoom FX. it has touch to focus and pinch to zoom. I am using it on my 4.1.1 ROM
Sent from my GT-I9100G using xda app-developers app
Try Camera360, it free with many effect and custom
+1 for LGCamera (lot of options, fix for bad chip recording for S2) and default JB stock camera (nice GUI and features)...
I find the Jelly Bean stock camera to be excellent, as if you fix the focus it captures pretty much instantly.

Since i installed cm9, the only thing i missed was the camera app from stock.
Im wondering which is the best camera app for cm9? hopefully close to how good the stock touchwiz one is.
I use ucam. Its the closest to tw camera I could find as far as options go. Plus some. Its my default now

I mainly use Procapture and Camera ZOOM. Both are great.
Camera ZOOM & ProCapture +1
Camera Zoom FX
Camera FV-5, nothing matches the level of control you can take over your phones camera, this app is what is keeping me from investing in a point-and-shoot (proud owner of a 5DMKII DSLR, but it is a lot to have with you all the time). If you know a little more about taking pictures than point-and-shoot, check it out.
Camera zoom is the best. The stable shoot algorithm is perfect for low light shoot. Like image stabilization on steroids

I was reading the features and seeing all the recommendations in this thread.....well just bought that app!
I will throw my opinion in on Procapture for wide shots since I haven't gotten as good of shots out of the stock camera. And I really enjoy Vignette for the ability to edit pictures later AND the devs there are top notch, any problem I have ever had they have taken care of me quick and easy.
Stock camera is the most stable.

Okay so I started using the stock ROM but then I moved over to cyanogen for a little while only to find out that the camera in cyanogen was really bad so I move back to stock and I'm not saying I regret the decision but I really would love to go back to cyanogen so I was wondering if anyone might know of a camera app that is comparable to the stock app for this device any help would be appreciated!

yes I was using focal but i cannot have a buggy camera. im a photographer and I use my phone a lot for scouting for shoots rather than carrying around my main gear. need something that will replace the cm10 sh*t camera with good features and functionality as the stock camera on the s4.
ProCapture!
There's an .apk for the Google Edition camera over in the Themes/Apps section. I use it alongside the stock camera and it's every bit as good I think.

I disagree with the assessment that AOSP camera is sh*t. Kudos to the developers - it's pretty fast and very, very usable, and the swipe to gallery is great (haven't seen that in any other party camera app). I'm picky about the camera.
That said, if you're set to find a 3rd party camera, then look at Camera FV-5.
Compared to all the other apps listed on this thread, it's superior with basic camera features missing in the other apps, such as focus mode, manual ISO, exposure compensation, exposure bracketing, grid layovers, etc. No gimmicky filters or effects like the others listed here. It makes a decent 'manual' camera out of the limited capability that the phone comes to begin with. It shows the 'life' shutter speed. Its auto ISO has a bias to go higher ISO than AOSP camera - up to 2000, so it may guard against shake but at the expense of grainier pics in the darker settings, but these phones aren't meant for that anyway. ProCapture is the closest to FV-5, but not as good for manual settings (i.e., after you set the exposure compensation on ProCapture, you won't see the value explicitly shown, so that could trip you). The one thing about FV-5 is it has a tad slower startup than the stock AOSP camera.
Updating my recommendation to either "A Better Camera" or Lenovo Super Camera.
