Hello everyone, i have Blu ray rip mkv (from 20-40gb each mkv) in my usb hdd, when i play it on my Galaxy note 2 the video runs fine but without audio and when the video starts a msg appear at the bottom says something about only video is playing. I have MX player pro, PlayerPro, Real Player and i tried on all of them and on defualt video player as well. The funny thing is the tv series episodes like vampire diaries, mentalist, big bang theory i download in 720p rip mkv(from 900mb to 1.5gb) it runs perfectly. Is there some sort of codecs i need for the audio in Blu ray rips i'm trying to play or some other player.
I'll be very grateful for help.

try bsplayer.
I tried all the apps you mentioned with no luck. Bsplayer can play everything i got in my video library.
ok I will, Thanks.
I use dice player. It's played anything I've thrown at it so far and it has a pop up feature as well.
With MX Player Pro try going into settings and changing it from H/W to S/W.. That's what I use and everything I watched plays just fine
bs player handsdown. i tried them all, non of them would play DTS audio mkv file except bs player. unfortunately, stock samsung has better video quality but no sound lol
Actually the stock player should be able to handle them.
I have mx player installed and bs player also.
One thing that bs player has that others don't, playing videos over a Windows share. You can play music videos back to back without needing to select the next song.

Both myself and my brother have played mkv files on our devices with no issues. I have the note II and he has an s III .... not sure what the issue is you are having but I don't think it is the video player... I use stock, so does he.
+1 for BSPlayer, also consider Archos with the additional Codec Add-on
I've found that on my version of the Note II, MXPlayer Pro, the default Video Player, IMToo, all did not work because of the lack of an AC3 codec.
The ones that worked were:
- Archos Video Player (with the Codec Add-On installed)
- BSPlayer
- VLC, however does not play .m4v files
- XBMC, however lags on playback
In the end it was between Archos and BSPlayer. The Archos Player has a better UI along with the ability to bookmark within the video. BSPlayer has the capability of resizing the video to any size, and locking the aspect ratio on-screen. It also connects to opensubs.org to download external subs on the fly, if needed.
Being an XBMC / OpenELEC user, since I'm comfortable with the interface and the plug-in system, I'm hoping that it will be optimized for Android in the future. When that day comes, I will switch back to XBMC. But for now, I flip back between Archos and BS Player.
Thanks for your help guys, my problem is solved

Which apps are best for web streaming/Video streaming on the new Nexus 7?
On my EVO LTE I can play the Simpsons Videos app, it's an off market Play Store app that plays Simpsons videos from the web and it works fine my EVO but I get a error message on my Nexus7 saying "can not play video". I've tried VLC and a few other but with no luck. Seems like the stock media player on the Nexus7 does not play web stream vids.
I have the latest version of Adobe flash installed.
Please help.
Can anyone play this stream using the native Audio SW library. I think it is a AAC+ shout cast stream - http://sc.2dayfm.com.au:80/ http://sc.2dayfm.com.au/listen.pls According to the Google Specs, AAC+ has been supported since V4.1 http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/media-formats.html
FYI - I can play it if it is handed off to a Video Player (like MX) or open in a player like Tunein, but it should (I think) just play from a the Standard Sound Player but I just get a "sorry ... does not support this type of file".
Thanks
Nathan
YouTube player rocks. Embedded videos suck. Is there a way to launch an embedded YouTube video in the YouTube player? An apk perhaps? Clicking the YouTube icon on an embedded video just launches it in the browser which is the same problem.
I don't see any way to make the YouTube player the default for playing YouTube videos either.
Does it play .MKV videos with HEVC/HEVC2/H265/AAC/10BIT smoothly?
How is the battery drain while playing this videos ?
How is the temperature of the phone during the playback?
Do you need a 3rd party video player, like MX Player?
Thank XDA Community <3.

Yes it plays all videos without any lags. And you'll have to use an 3rd party player for that. And videos are amazing in 18:9 display. you'll just face minor lags on cpu intensive games like asphalt.
Its built in video player wont do you much (wasn't able to play HEVC properly and some audio loss here and there, also fails at 10bit H264) , installing your preferred 3rd party video player will solve this easily though.
In MX player while playing 10 bit videos only the SW decoder is available. VLC does play without lag tho.
