Had to make the init.d folder in bootmenu. Thought to mention it.
Installed via custom recovery. It works like a charm on MIUI 1.7.8. Many thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see it loaded as a default module on future CM7 and MIUI releases.
Thank you!

For roms using stock keyboard and failing to install this one, do this in adb :
Code:
adb shell
su
busybox mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
cp /system/app/LatinIME* /sdcard/
rm /system/app/LatinIME*
pm uninstall com.android.inputmethod.latin
exit
exit
Now install this like a regular app.

Im not sure, if ur using a rom that already has in /system/app then it will cause issues.
U will have to remove the older one first.

I also tried installing a few different file manager apps which ask me to install the file but end up failing also. Any ideas?

If you use terminal, you problably have root acces.
Search market, or google, because I cant post it here.
Search ROOT EXPLORER, install it, give it root acces, and copy the file to /system/app then install it and reboot.

There Are 2 ways to do it:
1. For ringtones on your internal SD card create a folder named ringtones and put there the mp3. I guess it may work the same for notifications/alarms
2. Go to /system/media/audio and you will have 4 folders there: alarms, notifications, ringtones, ui and put here the mp3, fix permissions then reboot. But you will lose them on your next flash.

And Since You Know The Word "Noob" you tried to learn a lot, that makes things much better,, :victory:
Alright Now back to the Problem.

Solution :
1.) Your Device Needs To Be Rooted.
2.) Download Root Explorer.
3.) Copy Files from The mp3 Which You Need.
4.) Direct Yourself to The Directory You Want to Replace Files.
5.) Click on the R/O and R/W i.e Read Only & Read And Write.
6.)Toggling this will enable you to copy paste the files.
