okay. let me tell you now, I have searched for months and months to find info about these nex-tech desires and have found very little. i hope you made a nandroid before you rooted, because in most cases, thats the best option unless you have some sort of dire need to unroot. and the only solution ive found, is that if you want a full stock RUU, it wont be from nex-tech. it will be either a US Cellular RUU or an Alltel RUU. i can post the links for each one. i used the alltell one, hoping it would clear **** out and give me a fresh phone. but for whatever reason, it still didn't do what i needed. hahaha. so i can assure you that they aren't some b.s. links.
here's where I found them:

hope it helps.

I have my Desire rooted and it's on Telus. I want to send it in for warranty repair but I haven't been able to find any Telus RUUs around for me to unroot with. So i was wondering if I do a 100% complete factory reset, will that unroot my phone?

I just looked, that website does not have a RUU for my carrier. Any suggestions?
There is a Telus RUU available. You apparently didn't look hard enough at the website

Hiya,
I rooted my phone using unrEVOked 3 a few weeks ago, but one of my buttons has since broken. I want to send it in for repair, but having rooted my phone obviously voids my warranty.
I've seen a few unrooting guides around, but they all seem to want a goldcard to re-brand. Considering I didn't use a goldcard the first time, is this still the way to go.
unrEVOked haven't made an unroot tool for Desires, that I know of.
My network is '3' in the UK. The Hutchinson3G RUU on shipped-roms is the one.
I've heard some things from different friends:
1) Branding is contained in the radio, so it doesn't matter what you do
2) Just re-flashing the clockwork recovery will do it
3) I can do the RUU without a goldcard
4) I must do the RUU with a goldcard
Anyone know for sure?
Cheers
Just run the RUU to get back to stock if you're sure its the correct one.
No goldcard needed and it will remove root...

Hiya,
Thanks very much! Much appreciated
Trying to find a stock, unrooted 2.1 or 2.2 image for a US Cellular CDMA Desire, for warranty. I have been lookin for a couple days and have yet to find. Found several links on the xda forums but they were for rooted or nonstock images.
Didn't find one other than verizon's on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
Search function on the forums has not been workin for me as well, always get a temp. unavailable error, so please no search flames..
Thanks for any help here
You can get the stock 2.2 ruu off the USCC web site

Yep sure is, installed and works great (for stock). No issues no glitches, thanks for getting me in the right direction.
I would like to find a stock 2.1 to downgrade my Desire with to get it rooted. Anyone got one of those? I have found stuff, but none of it will work with the CDMA version.

you don't need to downgrade to root. Use unrevoked.
Unrevoked will not work on 2.2 CDMA Desire unless it was already rooted on 2.1 before 2.2 was installed

Yep, that's why I am looking for a way to get back to 2.1. I would do it the gold card way, but it seems to only work on non-cdma phones for the desire.

Anyone find a stock USCC 2.1 ruu yet?
I upgraded to 2.2 and would like to go back to 2.1 but can't find anyway to do so yet.

Yeah I saw that but haven't heard about anyone actually trying it on a USCC phone and what the effects are.
Thanks though
I picked up a Desire yesterday to try to start work on it also. I've been doing dev work on the Mesmerize since it came out and also for the Showcase (Cellular South).
Not that you guys probably care, but I'm a USCC Engineer and have access that has helped me out a lot to get the Mesmerize to where it's at today (of course with lots of help from other devs on the Fascinate side as well as the new guys with me). Unfortunately, things aren't as plentiful in the HTC firmware bin or I would have brought a 2.1 RUU over here a long time ago. On the Samsung side, if a customer brought a phone in to the store and had jacked it up, the in store tech had a stock image of the 2.1 firmware that he/she could flash back on the phone and it would be restored to it's factory state and the customer would be sent on their way. With the Desire, this doesn't seem to be the case. There was no factory image to flash to, so phones were swapped and sent in for repair.
I'm sure that the guys from unrevoked will probably figure this out before I even come close, but I just wanted to pop in and say hey and let you know that you have a friend on the inside (probably not the only one) that's working on things also. Feel free to hit me up. I'm always available for questions, comments, and suggestions.
I am trying to unroot my Cellular South desire and turn S-On. My phone is currently having issues staying on 3G so I need to make a warranty claim but my phone is currently rooted and has S-Off. I have an OTA update for it I copied to my computer if that will help me any (the OTA update for 2.2 that I can't install because I am on clockworkmod). I have an Alltel ruu if there is anyway to replace files in it with those from the OTA but can't flash it since my carrier has been known to tell me to do a hard reset to fix something and if I demo it in store they will notice it in the store.
fixed, it works well enough at least
There is an RUU on their website.
Their site being cellular south's site? Where did you see an RUU?

You mind sharing how you unrooted the device?
Just run the RUU from your carrier (goto HTC website, and search through downloads)on a computer with your phone plugged in. Assuming you havent added any developer modified drivers everything should run smoothly and your phone will be returned completely to stock... no root, no custom rom, no custom hboot, no s-off, no nothing.
Hi, I regret to say I am a noob. I have read around for the past few days and have a general idea of rooting and flashing ROMs.
I have a branded T Mobile DHD and I not only want it debranded, but I want it to function as if T Mobile never touched it. That is, I want to be able to debrand it once and then receive OTA updates direct from HTC when they are released (all the way up to the eventual ICS).
I have two main questions. One, can I replace the T Mobile ROM with the Stock HTC one without root and without a custom recovery (that is, installing the stock ROM using the stock recovery -renaming it update.).
Two, do I need to change the CID to HTC__001 to enable future OTA updates?
There may be things I have missed. Please point me in the right direction if this is the case, cause the info I've found isn't as specific as I'd like it.
Thank you!
Unfortunately not sure if there is such a thing. I have rooted and used custom ROMS and in the end went back to my providers RUU. I find even though some bloat ware the software is fast enough bug free and battery life is very good. Search the net maybe find your answer there.

I should have clarified, I'm using a T Mobile DHD off ebay with a 3 sim. The reason I want to have a clean DHD is primarily so I can be free from waiting on T Mobile for updates. The reason I want to be clean and have OTA direct from HTC is because I've always been happy with stock, unbranded ROMs.
Thanks though.
Is there no way of completely restoring the DHD to a purely unbranded state so that it functions as a factory bought one?
I read this
"If you're coming from a branded ROM and just want to debrand, you can stop here. By reverting back to an unbranded 2.2 ROM, you will now be able to receive OTA update straight from HTC without any network bloatware. You can continue with the root process, but it is not recommended you download OTA updates when rooted."
on androidforums, the thread "How to root and install a custom ROM on the Desire HD" (I can't post links)
Which is what got me thinking about debranding and leaving it there, but reading up about CID and OTAs I got confused, wouldn't mine still be T Mobiles and not HTC__001 after downgrading? It'd be great if someone could explain how simply reverting back using a goldcard results in successful HTC OTAs.
Or I could just root the phone and install HTC WWE ROMs as they appear online.
What would be best?
You would have to gain root/soff/supercid first after that you just simply flash the unbranded ruu.
It should be doable, I would imagine all it takes is setting the proper CID/MID and flashing a WWE RUU, and never rooting/installing custom recovery.

Could I use the Advanced Ace Hack Kit to give me those permissions, then using the Kit revert it to a WWE RUU?
If not, I'll try rooting then installing a RUU separately. I know how to install ROMS from zip files through recovery, how do I install a stock exe RUU on a rooted phone?
Reverting back to son unbranded to me would be an unnecessary step. This is what I would do.
1)use the hack kit to get supercid/soff
2) flash the unbranded ruu
3)done
To flash an ruu, you would simply just run the program from your PC with your phone connected
