[Q] htc desire z rom ported to g2?

Hi,
I am not usually an expert on porting ROM's and stuff but i was wondering if you can port the HTC Desire Z rom over to the tomobile version the G2?
The desire z actually has couple of different features that i would like the maps that are already stored on the phone.
If it its possible please do let me know
Thanks.
Once you are rooted and s-off using the guides in the Development forum, you can use any ROM you desire

Where can I find the Desire S GSM ROM for the Desire GSM?

Unbranded/Unlocked/Stock/Rooted HTC Desire GSM with Froyo
That's all really.
I don't want to move away from HTC Sense (even though I hear Cyanogenmod is very good) but would like the latest version of HTC Sense and Gingerbread. A few questions please:
1. Where can I find the Desire S GSM ROM for the Desire GSM? With installation instructions. I've already rooted.
2. I take it this is the best HTC Sense ROM to install? HTC Sense 3 (HTC Sensation) looks to be in it's infancy.
3. Will this ROM allow me to remove some of the preinstalled bloatware so I can install more apps?
Reasons for wanting to upgrade:
1. Increase storage, so I can install more apps. I'm always running out of storage.
2. Increase battery life.
3. Latest HTC Sense + Android.
Thanks
I should add:
1. I've tried searching but it drew a blank. All I could find was stock Desire S ROMs. I don't have a Desire S, so am guessing these won't work on my Desire.
2. I've never installed an Android ROM before, please bare that in mind when replying but have rooted my HTC Desire without trouble and also years ago installed TomTom on a cheap Chinese (Windows CE) satnav, again without much trouble.
Thanks.

Is this what you're looking for? Sense on Gingerbread based on Ace S (Is that Desire S??) Anyway , it is Gingerbread and Sense , as long as it works it should be fine whatever it is based on right?

All custom Roms are found in here if you wanna take a look.

Thanks 71baker. Yes that's basically it but I understand the Desire HD roms are safer.
Any idea where I can find a Desire HD (with Gingerbread) rom which works with the Desire and has installation instructions?
Try this one m8 i think you will find its what you are after.

there are some bugs in these roms at the present as they are early versions.

Thanks. That looks like just what I'm after. I'm not bothered about losing the video camera. It's absolutely rubbish.
720p is totally pointless when the lag is so bad, with even the slightest movement. My ancient VGA digital camera produces better videos (much lower res but perfectly fine motion).

There isn't a decent Desire S ROM available, better looking at a Desire HD one (or my normal Desire 2.3.3 ROM )
Well you are right when thinking you can't use the desire s roms, as they need to be fitted to the hardware.
And if you want more space, i will suggest you stay on stock desire rom, as desire s roms fills quite a bit more. You should start looking at some a2sd scripts instead(those are also used to make desire s rom fit into desire).
If you want the new sense and gingerbread, we have a forum just for roms(development) in there you will find 1 thread for every rom. The one you will be searching for is "rcmix s" and yes as eddyos states try to go with desire hd instead.

Thanks for this Eddy. Can you point me to the link or what to search for?
It looks like you're running an HTC Desire HD ROM with Gingerbread. I'm pretty sure the Desire HD officially still runs Froyo. Cool.

Thanks for this Mortenmhp. I'll have a look, instead of muddying the water in this thread.

Got it thanks. It sounds like I want the Desire HD ROM instead. Does that have the same version of HTC Sense as the Desire S? I thought it was newer again, no?
I'm not running a DHD ROM - I'm using an original Desire 2.3.3 ROM
Look for SuperDuperAwesomeROM in ROM Development if you wanna look

Funnily enough I've just been looking at that thread. If I was to flash a new ROM, I'd definitely want the newer HTC Sense and Gingerbread. Any idea where I can find the ROM for this (I'm guessing Desire HD)?
Cheers

Q: Update firmware or not

After a shocking experience with the sensation (had two both sluggish as hell and heat was horrendous) I have returned back to what I know the Desire HD
Ive just placed my order with Amazon for a unlocked / unbranded version it will probably come with 2.2 on is it worth the 2.3 update , ive been having a look around this forum and there is mixed experiences.
When I had the desire hd before it was blazing fast (what makes me laugh sensation is a dual core and to me it appeared slower that the hd) but when I had it , the phone had 2.2 on ..... having experienced 2.3 on sensation im really bothered about updating it when I get the phone tomorrow
what do fellow forum users think please
My opinion.. Root + S-OFF it and get a custom ROM. Try ARHD 5.2, it flies
Anyway, if you do not like custom ROMs for some reason (I cannot think why..), you should still update. Gingerbread is just better.
I gess the sensation is slow due to Sense 3.0. You can try any Sense 3.0 ROM in your Desire HD and then try a Sense 2.1 ROM like Android Revolution HD or even the stock ROM and you will see a BIG difference in terms of speed and fluidness.
Before rooting my phone I had the stock Froyo and updated to stock Gingerbread. I didn't notice any difference in speed between the two official ROMS (both were Vodafone branded, by the way).

This is exactly what you're looking for:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840040
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using xda premium
I think you should change the name of your topic...
Vanilla is used in android when the build is from google source or cyanogen's source, this is known as an AOSP build... (=>No Sense)
What you want is a "stock" rom with root, right?
The most popular GB roms with sense is:
LeeDrOid HD, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056727
and
Android Revolution HD, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840040
Which one to use is up to you...
