A friend of mine just got his Evo yesterday and it came shipped with 2.3.3.
I've searched the forums on multiple sites and couldn't find an absolute answer, is it possible to root this, or downgrade to a rootable version?
no you cant root as of now and you cant downgrade either
sorry
and just to help if your new people become douche bags if you post something in the wrong section you will get more help if you post this in the Q and A section
Sadly no
They are working very hard (see Evo 3D and Sensation forums) so it shouldn't be that long but as of now nope. BTW watch out for the troll police and their smarmy (but usually hilarious) comments. Maybe move your thread if u don't wanna hear them.
cool rom! try going to the q&a im sure u know howz to readz!
WOW, AGAIN!!!?!??
MODS, clean up on thread 1160843...hahahahaha

i'm planning to root my G2, but i need to be on 2.2.1 first. i'm still on 2.2, and i have to wait for an OTA, which i really dont want to do. is there any way to get to 2.2.1? maybe an update.zip?
Firstly, to avoid getting flamed, I'd post further queries in the Q&A section. (Now it's been said, let's not harp on the guy.)
Second, try a search of the forum. I'm willing to bet the update is around somewhere. (Again, now it's been said.)
haha thanks man. i'll look around.
It's in the rage thread. Follow the instructions to the letter and you can root while still on 2.2.

hey guys..
currently i am working on fixing HTC ONE X (Endevor)... i have had some trouble over the past with HTC's.. and now currently i have a job fixing phones and other things..
just hit a roadblock sooo hard it hurts!
I have the phone freezing when i play a video on youtube... it is annoying as i would have to issue a refund on the product.... So ive downloaded the tools i use ( goldcard) RRU's all that fun stuff..
Am i right in thinking when i load the RUU it goes back to that stock rom... its not rooted, no custom rom.. just stock.. if you can tell me.. so i just need to run that RUU or do i have to continue other steps after that RUU?!
If you can get back to me ASAP with some answers... i would be sooo happy!!
Thanksss
Ricky!

I have a galaxy ace i8160L, and i want to install custom roms, but i see that there is a model i8160 WIthout L (and i see other with i8160P), dont know where to start, and i dont know if i can use all the tutorials from i8160 to i8160L. I dont want to brick the phone for doing something wrong, also, if there is any way to avoid flash counter that would be great (i see a flashable for CWM but for i8160, so dont know if can be use it with i8160L)
Any help is appreaciate. thanks
Search around the Ace II general forums. There was one or two guidez on how to make this possible. For gingerbread only so far. also, I'm not sure but maybe you can use the manual flash counter reset using terminal.
oh by the way, there's a q and a thread and its stickied, any further questions that are not related to this should be posted there since most of the users are monitoring that thread therefore a better chance to get an answer.
Nevermind my sig, its my sig in XDA app.
Is pressing "THANKS" to hard to do? If you think my post is helpful then click that button! Ungrateful bast***s
You should ask in the Question and Answer Thread, not making new threads for just a single question.
And i8160L is the NFC version, there are a few ROMs as mentioned by Dro1ne and you can try installing non-L ROMs but you'll most likely to lose your NFC functions and a little chance of brickings. CMIIW though.
Should one see another pointless thread without asking it in the Q and A Thread, don't reply to it and let the thread sink to bottomless pit of hell.
EDIT: sorry for the harsh language, it's just really getting annoying when I see new threads but just asking a single question of not the same question again and again.
ok, sorry, i search first but still no clear, i will ask a last question there.thanks for your time.
Dont worry, i understand, was my mistake. i just want to see if keep the phone or not, i already have another android, but this is just because a friends need it and want custom roms like mine.
If you want to install GB custom roms on your i8160L then click the link on my signature
hey every1. im sorry if im not posting this in the right section but i couldnt see a better way.
so i want to install this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342997
could somebody please post me complete tutorial from gb to this rom? recovery, firmware and stuff.
P.S. maybe this will help avoid new threads for help installing this rom.
Yes, it'll help, considering you are the only one that ask fit that...
Anyway, what's wrong with instructions in the OP?

People are just too lazy to look around. Everything is here but it's too much of a hassle to put one sentence in the search bar. And you really think that General section is better than Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting for this thread?
well if im the only one then why i see you whining like a little girl in every thread? if u dont have nothing to answer to my question please SHUT UP
now it will just stay as a spam thread for no reason and yes im lazy because instructions are not clear. do i go directly yo me7 or mb2/4 first. so yeah thanks for the help
Your thread was spam, and in wrong section from the beginning. Read forum rules, read some basic topics and don't tell me to shut up.
P.S. Please consider investing in glasses if you don't see better place to ASK QUESTION
well... i wouldnt but u just keep writing the same in your answer. we learn from mistakes dont we? stop spaming me what i already know....
DELETE THIS THREAD.

to install CM, you need to go to JB first because it needs CWM 6.
for the JB version, choose your ace 2‘s region (i have Indonesian Ace 2, so I use Indonesian JB ROM). you can use others region but avoid chinese region because it has different signal and also check if your ace 2 is P or L type because it has different ROMs
do you need to go to mb2/mb4? don‘t know yet because I didn‘t test all JB roms. For my region‘s rom, I can directly go to JB from GB
for the instruction how to upgrade and where are the roms.. please search...
What's going on xda? I wanted to post this in the developer forum, so that possibly Ya know, a developer would see it and read it but the site said "no" so I have to post here. I had my phone rooted with weaksauce I was gonna go all out and unlock the boot loader and s-off but weaksauce made it so easy to have root access I was pretty satisfied with just that for a little while at least. Then I got an update Download from Verizon. I pressed where it said update now. I was curious. I'm sorry, anyway now I have the Verizon version of sense 6.0 and weaksauce shows me root failure when it runs. It's been like this for quite some time now and I've been searching around for any info on it but I'm the only person who has made a post about it so far. Other people also have this problem, I made a post on android forums and many others are sharing the same issue. Developers please. Let me know if you share the problem or know the solution or if you are currently working on the solution because I am getting slightly impatient. Thanks
Why not post this in Verizon HTC ONE forum? There you will receive more help.

If it was actually that simple I would have already done that. I have a VERIZON m7. Weaksauce was the only root method I tried that worked, so it's not that I'm too lazy to search around for the correct thread, it's that that correct thread doesn't exist yet so I just keep making threads on different android forums until I flood the internet with my words and someone finally notices.

Whats Going on? What is going on is that you really didnt pay attention to the rules when you joined. Had you then you would know why you cant post in the Dev forums. You would also know that had you posted this in the dev forums, it would have been deleted on site.
Now I am gonna move this to the proper device forums and advise you to take another look at the rules before you post again.
Basically, you are SOL until Firewater/Weaksauce/Towelroot is made to work on our latest OTA.
Had you run Firewater when you had root, prior to updating, you would have been able to update and retain s-off and root.
Since you didn't, you are now stuck without root until/when/if an updated method/exploit is posted.

Dude, keep moving it if it makes you feel important. The rules really are not my main concern on this site, I had a question it got answered pretty directly after about 4 useless "this has to be moved" posts now I'm going to continue to wait. You guys are like maids for this site do they pay you well? Is it just fun for you to move threads to the correct place? pretty much: LOL @ false sense of entitlement thread police

Your thread got answered after it was moved to the right place, so that mod with "a false sense of entitlement" is the only reason you got a accurate reply.
Your call, but a bit of appreciation for those who keep this site running and volunteer to help is never a bad thing. Running a site of this size is not an easy task.

Wow so let me get this straight. You come to a development sight and want to ask a question? Tthen you post in the wrong section so you get the least amount of answers. So not only does a mod come along and move it to the proper place so you have a chance of getting an answer, but tells you where you messed up instead of just deleting your post. So you proceed to call names and insult me? Then break the rules again. Well how about this. The next time you decide to insult someone you will be banned from the site and then you be stuck with what ever simple minded questions you may have. Take this as your only warning. I would normally just remove you from the site for good but I am in a good mood today so I will let this one slide.
