Sounds like data corruption. Are you journaled? Did you have an abrupt power off of the phone?

If you have a recent nandroid backup, restore it from cwm. If not, you will need to reflash the rom.

I doubt it's a hardware issue, sounds like data corruption potentially caused by lack of journaling an unstable undervolt/overclock or a combination of the two. Reflash your ROM of choice, and turn on journaling (if it's not already). It's a slight performance hit, but well worth it. Honestly the only time you'd even notice a difference is during a benchmark, these phones are plenty fast enough.
so I just re-flashed my phone... all my wonderful apps are gone.. all those high scores..everything. Im so sick of this phone.

It's your own fault. At least learn from it, utilize apps like titanium backup to backup apps and settings, make weekly NAND backups and enable journaling so it is unlikely to happen again.
I just had that happened to me about two hrs ago an don't know waht to do. It seem like my epic won't read my sd card and titanium back up and all my other apps are in there! I lost my google, facebook, clock, and almost everything force closes!!! Any help out there???

Bad flashing can happen on any phone. You would have had the same problem with journaling off on any phone. You can return this phone and still flash yourself into force close hell on a different phone. You aren't using Android right, it's not the Epic.

Here's what happened:
Called Sprint because I was unable to send out SMS although I was able to receive. I was on the device at the time of the call and I asked the rep if she wanted to call me on another phone. She said that what she had to do didn't involve me being on a different line. I found it kind of weird but I figured she knew what she was talking about.
She tells me that she's done doing what she was doing and that I had to reboot my phone. I disconnect the call reboot my phone and test out the SMS. It works but now my data doesn't work at all. I'm using Cyanogen RC1 and I see no 1X or 3G at the top. I can s/r calls as well as s/r sms.
I called again and the guy knew I was using Cyanogen's ROM (I guess they have a way to do that now). He tried basic troubleshooting but we couldn't fix it. How do I fix this? I remember seeing a website link in a thread a while back that contained all the different PRL versions available for download in a .zip file that we could flash in recovery. Does anyone have the website?
I tried rebooting. Should I do a nandroid restore? I have a feeling it's network related so I don't know if that will fix the issue.
Have you tried flashing a sense or stock rom and see if you get text messages there. Worth a shot. If not give your nandroid a shot or even a full wipe install.
I'm going to a nandroid restore right now. I already backed up all my apps and stuff.

Good luck!
No luck. I'm on the phone with Sprint right now and all of the reps I speak to are lost. I know it's a network issue and something not being enabled on their side.
Ok I got off the phone with them and still haven't resolved my issue. They are claiming they can't help me because my phone is rooted. They wanted me to press ##3282 commands but Cyanogen doesn't have those functions built in.
This mess all started off with a texting problem. The thing that baffles me is that SMS has nothing to do with data.

Yup, that was my idea.
I'm still a bit taken back at the fact they knew which rom you were using.
Yeah man the guy was like " I'm looking at your account and I was checking what version you were using and it says Fresh". I told him that it was what I was using before but I'm using Cyanogen now.
They somehow know what version. I think they somehow send a signal to your device so it can send back the info that's in the about section. I thought it was pretty cool. He kept stressing that my warranty was void.
First let me apologize for making this longer then maybe need be. However I want to make sure I point out everything that I think matters. Okay here it goes...
I cannot receive text messages. I can send them, however. Now, I run Cyan, the newest version (6.1 Stable). I have the newest everything.. Radios, Wimax, I mean everything. If I use Nandroid and revert it back to a state a week ago, my texts still will not work, even though it was working at that point in time I made the back-up. I mean I've uninstalled, re-installed, re-applied, re-flashed, re-EVERYTHING and nothing works. The internet, phone calls, any other software, works perfectly fine. I just cannot receive texts and I hope someone can help me out. Even if you think it may not work, I will try it. I thank anyway willing to read this, and trust me I'll check this all the time to see if anyone has a suggestion.
Are you using the stock messaging app? Or are you using something like Handcent? How are you trouble shooting this, are you sending yourself text messages and they aren't coming through? Have you posted on the Cyan thread to see if there are similar problems?
I am not sure what it is or what it could be. are you checking the stock message app and making sure they are there and just not showing up in a 3rd party messaging app?

I am using both. Well first I tried Handcent (since that's what I had installed), but then when I flashed to a brand new ROM, all I had was stock, and that still didn't work. Also yes I checked their forums and kids had problems with texting, but unlike mine. Also they had different phones. Anywho, I am testing this with 3 of my friends, and sending myself (if I think I'm doing something different) with AIM or my mother's phone. I don't know man, I just, don't, know. It's really irritating me though. Thank you though for reading all that and trying to help, it is a mystery.

Go back into recovery, wipe the cache and dalvik at least twice each and reboot. After you've rebooted, update your profile in the settings menu. That *should* help you out.

Hey buddy, I wiped the cache about 5 times in a row, (Juuuust incase, also the dalvik) I've now tried switching back to older radios and older everything. But I can't seem to install ANY sense roms for some reason now. What the heck is going on all of a sudden? Like Fresh, Ava, Re-Engineer, and nothing.
Also, I went here..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=791019
But when my phone boots up, it'll check the .Zip, stop half way, and restart in an endless loop.. So it's like I'm stuck on Cyanogen, and my texts won't come in. I don't know I'm sure everyone is thinking the same thing I am, which is I'm crap out of luck.
Hey there, I fixed my problem, and the only reason I am responding is to not waste anyone else's time, and who knows maybe someone else eventually will have this problem.
Anyway, I'm not sure what exactly fixed it, but I went into recovery, deleted every single thing I could delete, Hell, I even deleted the sdcard stuff (I'd imagine it makes no difference, but I was desperate). I installed the "Ava" rom and for some reason when I deleted and formatted Everything, "AVA" was actually able to boot up, the moment I went through the steps with Sense, it asked me to log in, and I did. A couple seconds later, I heard "Dling, dling, dling, dling, dling.." for a straight minute. Then all at once I had my 68 messages. ...Which makes me wonder, where the F were they before they got to my phone? Just floating around in the air? Like did the text message float to my phone when I was on Cyanogen and say, "Nope, nevermind." and float back away only to return when I put AVA on? ...Phew.. Sorry, just relieved. Thanks everyone who tried helping, I appreciate it!
Simple answer to what happened:
Sometimes EPST updates the radio's profile and PRL and all that in the background. Since CM doesn't have EPST, it can't do that, and after a while it "expires". You basically just have to flash a Sense ROM and it'll fix it.
Now, as for your "unable to boot" problem, that's due to the new radio version not being compatible with older HTC kernels. Only AOSP and 3.70-based kernels can boot with the latest radio.
Ta-da!

No kidding? That's amazing, you're the champ. Thank you for the explaination, it makes perfect sense. I'm not to um, cell phone savvy yet so this is new to me. However now I know to always keep a Sense ROM on my sdcard just for that sake alone. Thanks again man.
Ok, so in an effort to not waste anymore time searching and reading and getting a tiny bit confused. To all of my rooted Incredible partners who were using 2.2 Froyo before the root, and stuck with HTC Sense after the root. What apps are perfectly fine to get rid of completely and it wont mess up the DInc at all ?
Why stuck with HTC sense? I don't think i understand your question.
As far as removing apps pretty much anything that is not essential and most of the stuff you won't be able to remove.
I just now rooted my DInc but ive had for a few months so I'm just used to Sense. My question was pretty much me just wondering exactly which apps that came with the phone were ok to uninstall with Titanium Backup, like uninstalling them wouldnt mess up my DInc, like cause it to brick, or something to not work properly.
I don't remember stock lol.
Check this out.

Did you make a NANDROID backup of your phone? If not do so now. You can do it via rom manager or boot into recovery and create a backup file. So in case you have issues you can restore your phone from an image.
Titanium backup won't be able to bring you back from disaster if your phone won't boot.

Use Titanium Backup and start by freezing the apps first before removing them. If freezing doesn't cause issues, then you can, more than likely, remove the app. I prefer to just freeze them, does basically the same thing.
I would simply freeze them, but TB wont let me. It keeps saying that to be able to freeze, I need to be on the donate version of it, which Im only guessing is the paid version.

I agree with trickster. TB is very much worth the money. When I first got it, I had just rooted - deleted an app and restored it with no problem. Then I tried removing a "stock" app. Gone. Can't reinstall... Freezing it is the way to go. Then again, you might want to consider a nandroid backup before doing anything at all.
I have a backup of all of the stock HTC apps somewhere. I had removed one of the stock apps on accident, so I had just used that and restored the apk... worked fine after that.
I'd like to know if it's safe to start breaking into it. I know rooting won't hurt it, but what about custom ROMs, or even updating to Gingerbread? I don't want to mess up the current settings that have been applied for the phone to work on nTelos.
Running Froyo 2.2.1 EC05
Baseband version S700.0.55.EC05
Actually if you stay on stock modded roms meaning you stay away from CM7 or any other AOSP ROM then you'll be fine I however have no idea to prove this but have only seen people on cricket and boost mobile have problems only on aosp roms never any stock roms
If you need the latest stock rom ill be happy to help you odin it and root it as well let me know if you have any other questions.

Ok...got another question. I keep randomly getting the "Error 67: Registration error. Your Sprint data service username and/or password may be incorrect. Please try again"
Since I'm not on a Sprint plan, is there an apk or file I can delete to get rid of this thing? It's driving me freakin' insane!
Also, I was flipping through the phone and found this: W_RF_AUTH. What the hell is it? The permissions on it are sketchy as hell, do not want. OK to delete???
Ususal rule of thumb, if you don't know what it is don't delete it... freeze it with titanium backup and if strange things begin to happen then unfreeze... iif not its probably safe to delete...

Have you googled anything to get rid of it? What is error 67 anyways?
For error 67, and this applies to most sprint phones that use Vision, Powervision, EVDO, Etc. Error 67 indicates that the username or password stored in your phone is incorrect. this condition is very rarely related to the coverage in an area, usually occurs after recent device swap, or attempting to use modem/hotspot while your account does not have a valid modem/hotspot plan.
Before going through too much effort, you should power your phone off, then back on, update your profile (this varies by model support.sprint.com has guides for most phones) and determine that the feature that you are attempting to use should work ( for example to use hotspot, you must be subscribed to hotspot. to use phone's web browser the web service should not be blocked, Etc.) if you still have trouble with error 67 after following this information please feel free to send me a private message.
When I odined el30 I don't think I had you flash the latest el30 modem delta so flash this : http://db.tt/oL0nSl3s
Then do the profile update as well as the prl update and reboot and see if your phone stops displaying the error 67

This occured after installing apps one by one and only restoring data for 2 games. i didnt install any system apps from my old phone.
if you decide to do it tho i'd like to know if you encounter the same issues that i had.

That's strange. I've got a bunch of apps so it'll be a pain in the ass to install them one by one but I don't want any problems.
Mass restoring user apps with data has never been an issue for me. I've done it between all my devices...but of course if you do run into issues, you have to go back and see which app is causing any instability. Chances are you'll be fine
