[Q] Backplate Replacement

My xPlay recently took a nasty fall to some concrete. The only notable damage is a n extremelly scratched backplate. Does anyone know where I can buy a new backplate, without buying a case or a new phone?

Dang that's so cheap for the back cover....I kinda wish I had the black XPlay... Lol.

I sometimes wish I had a white xPlay but like my black one too (more Playstation like less iphone like).
The best backplate I imagine is leather covered or chrome but dn't know if it would affect the radio signal...
That with a dual SD adapter maybe and foldable out stand but without making it bulkier
Don't know if it is possible and how much it would have to cost

If there was a backplate made out of rubberized plastic, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Don't know really. I contacted a guy from the Dutch SE FB page and he told me he would send me a new one for free

I too dropped my phone and it landed on top down a small nick on back plate as well as top screen slider. Battery cover is an easy replacement, I wish the slider part was easily changed

[Q] Replacement Frame

I finally dropped my phone getting out of my car and dinged up the frame of the phone pretty bad. Since I'm OCD, I'd like to replace just the frame, nothing else got damaged and it looks like a simple replacement. Yet I can't find where to order the part from.
Does anyone have a link to order a frame (outer edge of the phone) or have done this themselves?

I say just put a $20 max bid in there (prolly won't get to $20). It's well worth it, and easy to replace. My soft case ($2 on ebay) fits just fine in my car dock....

Exactly what I did! Do you have a link to your soft case? Love to put something on it, but still have it fit in that tight car dock.

I bought it not sure if I would like it but turned out to absolutely love it and it comes with an awesome holster too that I didn't think I would even use but now I wont leave home without it. The holster also provides allot of added protection since it covers the screen.

Hey all! I was looking around for a replacement frame/bezel myself due to my power button issues.
Just got mine in, and it's what its supposed to be Looks like the real deal, and not some knock off 3rd party part.

Fix broken back cover - first attemt with superglue failed

Hi.
The back cover of my GNex is broken. From the camera to the end of the cover a crack of about 1 cm.
Can you tell me how to fix this without buying a new one? An attemt with superglue already failed, it cracked again at the same spot.

A piece of plastic that thin does not have enough surface for glue to do its magic. You would need something that adheres to both sides then holds them together like tape but that would be ugly. But of you look on eBay they are literally a couple bucks. Is it a stock cover or the extended? I have an extra stock back i will send it to you for free. Let me no.

tried glueing few times ended up at the repair shop

Official Google Bumpers

Hey guys, have you noticed, Google is a bit lazy this year. I still haven't seen sign of official bumpers on the play store and my phone won't last more enough without a case. Anyone knows when will they be released? I mean come on, it's been two weeks Google. Hurry.

Yeah, they were supposed to release the official charger according to several sites as well. I wonder what the deal is!

I'm in the same dilemma too . I'm tempted to buy another case , since i'm scared i might drop my phone, Hope it comes out soon.

Google wants people to break their Nexus 5 so they will buy another Nexus 5

I'm really getting sick and tired of the supply problems with Google... Every single device that they release has supply issues and accessories are even worse. How hard can it be to make more devices for launch and have the official accessories ready to purchase at launch?!
They hype their products and "leak" details to get people interested and then don't produce. It's very frustrating. Anybody should be able to buy a nexus 5 or any accessories at launch and have it ship the next day.

For $35, there are better cases to spend your money on.

They released it for a few minutes on N5's release day, a few people bought and got them, they haven't put it up since then

The official Google bumpers are terrible. They're bulky and they feel cheap. Not to mention they're not truly bumpers since they cover the back. I really don't recommend them.

I would not be surprised if they are working on a real bumper to replace the one they have now.....something like the N4 bumper would be nice

I liked my friends a lot so I ordered one of eBay a few days back will post a mini review once it arrives in the next few days

I just got mine from eBay and actually really like it. Fits awesome and feels really nice. It had kind of a weird back slope on the side of the case but it's still feels good in hand. Is it worth $35? Certainly not, but if you don't mind paying a little extra I think it's nice.

I accidentally bought 2 extras when I ordered my phone.
Sold them on ebay for 60 each. I then sold my own used one for $50 , cause it sucked. Whats the problem?

To be honest I wouldnt pay $15 again for that case. Thing made the phone feel like a giant square brick and the buttons on the sides were awful.

I'm searching around on ebay and amazon and the price is coming out to about $80-100 for a screen/digitizer replacement.
I'm posting here to confirm if anyone else has any place they can recommend. My primary fear is that the replacement I might receive may be a cheaper/bad LCD (viewing angle wise). Is that a possibility? Or are all the replacements basically the same screen?

I usually get it off eBay. But there was this one seller on Amazon that I used for my N4 that was in the US and quick. Don't know if they are selling a N5 display but PM me and I can give you the deets. $80-100 is about the going rate on eBay at this time. I actually will recommend spending the extra $10-15 more for the frame included. It is a quick swap of internals at that point. Then flip the broken display up on ebay and recoup about $20 back.

Yup exactly. Really quick switch out. Just swap internals. Getting the display off of the frame is annoying since LG uses a silicon adhesive to bond the display to the frame. This makes it more resistant to heat. It is better to just sell the broken one to someone who has the time to separate all 3 components.

Ya that was the first place I saw when I initially started looking for the part but they seem to be sold out mostly and more expensive than other listings I've seen, I guess because they are OEM parts. I'll keep an eye on the site but continue looking.

I would like to order off of ebay, problem is I have zero experience ordering from dealers on ebay. What should I be looking for from sellers other than their ratings?
The pricing seems to be $1 to $50 difference for the screen + frame varying from China to the States but offer what seems to be the same product.
