My Focus and I are running back to NoDo as fast as possible.. - Windows Phone 7 General

..unless there's a working registry solution for Samsung devices in Mango. I suppose I thought fast app switching was developer code independent, but it seems I need to apply the dehydration hack to achieve the results I want.
Here's some background in case anyone can help me load a registry editor on here or revert to NoDo, apply the tweak, and then upgrade back again:
1. I have no idea where my backup actually saved to, but I know it's there. Does anyone know what the known locations are? The actual file extension?
2. I used the cracked tool to upgrade to Mango. I'm a dev but I'm stuck in GeoTrust verification which won't let me dev unlock (or upgrade using the official tool) until that process is complete.
3. Are there any other tweaks I should apply while in NoDo land?

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows Phone Update
Fast task switching is developer-code independent, but third-party apps written using the pre-Mango SDK will have their Activate (rehydrate) function called when you switch to them. In many cases, this will cause the app to waste some time. Even in Mango, non-foreground apps aren't actually running - they're just suspended (in RAM but inactive). Resume *can* be instant, but it requires that the app be aware of suspend/resume, which requires that it be a Mango app.
Registry tweaks made while in NoDo should carry over to Mango. My phone carried its custom accent color and a few other changes across the update just fine.

FYI, I was stuck there as well. As it turned out, I didn't submit the required icon images and screenshot. It sat in a waiting for GeoTrust verification without telling me my submission was incomplete.
Not sure if this helps but I figured I may as well pass along my experience.
I also I put a .99 price on the shell app I submitted. I obtained my dev account via DreamSpark and I remember reading that you will waste one of your 5 free apps if you don't put a price on the verification app.

The free apps limit has been raised to a hundred. So that's not really relevant anymore.
You could also do it the way I did - actually write a basic application and submit it when you've got the core functionality done. Then keep working on it and as soon as it's published, submit an update that actually just finishes the app.

Remove limit of 10 unsigned app

I've finally reach 10 unsigned app on my phone. Took way longer that I thought...
This is not new for anyone who's not spending time asking for unlock key, but I've made a small app to automate the process of pushing the limit to 100000.
Here it is: http://bit.ly/qpVyR4
Work on my HTC, may work on other device as well (let me know).
Warning: At least one person had problem deploying app on his Samsung after running this app.
Edit: Updated version with rollback button (which already exists but was hidden )
this has been out for like a month now..... but good job of creating one!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875885
Exactly what I said... nothing new but packaged as a XAP
Advanced Configuration Tool for WP7 Beta
http://forum.touchxperience.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=590&p=2349
has an option to remove the limit, plus set as many colour schemes as you like, and add single registry keys directly.
Its still beta but works a treat so far on my HD2, and comes with about 50 colours for the theme, or input your own with hex codes.
This tools works only on HTC. Minne should work on Samsung too, maybe on LG.
But if you have an HTC, AdvConfig is probably easier to use.
I'm not spending much time making pretty app
I ran this earlier (along with setting the key manually before), and it doesn't work. I still was limited to 10 apps.
But now, frighteningly, I'm unable to deploy -some- apps from Visual Studio (limit reached). I have a real dev unlock, never messed with Chevron.
Thanks, (nico)! I've removed this (stupid!) limit on my Focus (officially unlocked), everything works fine including deployment/debug from VS 2010. Good job!

I'm also officially unlock.
Like with folks with Chevron, I think the limit will be reseted periodically by Zune.
What do you mean by "some" apps?
You can't install more than 10 apps?
Not sure what do you mean, but I'll try to answer.
Using (official) unlock method, you won't be able to deploy more than 10 unsigned apps. 3 if you have a student account.
Chevron also have the same 10 limit (because they intentionally keep MS limit).
This registry tweak try to remove that limit.
In either way, this don't modify the number of app you can install though Marketplace, which is not limited.

I set the key manually in the code Rusty released for the Samsung devices the other day. I wasn't able to deploy the 11th app via VS. I continued dealing with it until I got your XAP, I ran that yesterday and now sometimes I have trouble deploying in VS, even with <10 apps. Restarting VS and the phone doesn't have any effect.
Not that I'm blaming you or anything - just figured I'd note my experience. Some projects will still deploy, not sure of the pattern yet.
Thanks, that the kind of feedback I'm looking for. I'll add this to the first post to warn people.
If you have more infos, please share so we can have something more stable.
Thanks!

Look up the RRTool in this forum that I wrote, he is basically saying I rebranded the Chevron Tool as my own, even though my Tool runs on the device not from desktop and only prevents relocking, it doesnt actually unlock a device like chevron does. He only has 2 posts and tried to ruin my credability! Not Happy!
He is a lame troll. Don't pay attention. Thank you both guys! Great job!
P.S. Just a small remark: after using your tools (first I've tried (nico)'s tool, later (toady) RRTool. Both works good but behavior of VS 2010 a little bit changed. Now I can't deploy project via Zune - must close it first and use WPConnect.
Did you try to restore the original value (probably 10 for most users) and see what happends?
Nope, I didn't. Just have no time to browse for Samsung's registry editor or reflect back your's or lyriquidperfection app. Could you add an option to restore back an original values? Anyway, it's not a real problem. MS limitation of 10 app (or 3 for student account) it's just stupid and unfair. What, if I have more than 10(3) homebrew projects to debug and run? What, if I want to recreate all apps I need by myself? But of course the "MS greediness sux!" is not a topic for this thread

How do I create custom Accent themes?

The 10 colors on WP7 Mango just aren't doing it for me. I'm pretty new so could anyone give me a few pointers on how to change these colors to ones of my own liking?
My info:
HTC Trophy
Verizon Wireless
Mango 7712
Edit: I probably should have posted this in Q&A I'm sorry!
If you are unlocked and running anything other than Mango 7661 than you want to install Advanced Config. This allows you to set custom themes, custom ring tones, etc.
I'm trying to unlock my device, but I'm finding it impossible since I can't send an .exe file to my phone via any email service and you cannot unzip on WP7 so how do I go about doing this?
the exe is run from the computer
read the guide before you start
the .cer is run from the phone

ChevLab unlock, then use Heathcliff74's tool. Then you can put anything on your phone.
Well worth the $9 IMO. Only took me 30-45 minutes to go from stock mango to interop-unlocked with internet sharing, advance config, customed out.

Actually this was also the case for me, however after flashing with Ansar's 5.01 Trophy ROM, Advanced Config no longer do the trick for me.. Also Registry Editor no longer changes anything. But I've got IS working, so I'll live without Accent Color changing for a while until a new ROM gets released (DFT v2).
@Seed 2.0: You're instructing the owner of an HTC phone to use a tool that only runs on Samsung phones. Think about that one for a sec.
@e_rl: The Chevron Labs unlock will let you sideload "most" apps to your phone, but doesn't allow apps that can access high permissions (ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES). This includes anything like Advanced Config. For that you need "interop-unlock" which is difficult to get on HTC phones - you pretty much have to roll back to NoDo to get it right now (yes, it's a pain). You also need to have the Connection Setup app from HTC's marketplace, so don't bother rolling back if you don't. Then look up the threads on "U2M7720". It will also get you on the release build, which is a good thing - still running 7712 by now is just pointless.
Oh, by the way, the color shown in the ads is actually on the phone already, or t least on all the ones I've seen so far. It used to be called "orange" and was renamed to "mango" for this version release. Still, it's nice to be able to use truly custom colors.

Hey man i see you mention HTC phones rolling back to NODO to get interop unlocked . I was under the impression that you would have to be Pre nodo , which is impossible on the Verizon Trophy .. i think . I was led to believe that Interop unlock on the Verizon trophy at all is impossible ... are you saying that it is ? Because i still have a nodo backup and have no issue with going back to it if it means interop .
Or maybe i am misunderstanding you .. thanks for any light you can shed on the situation !
No, you only have to roll back to *some* pre-Mango build (7403, the intermediate build between NoDo and Mango, even works; it doesn't have interop-lock).
The reason for rolling back to pre-NoDo is if you needed to use the original ChevronWP7 Unlocker, which doesn't work on NoDo or newer. If you have a developer (AppHub) account, or if you use the new ChevronWP7 Labs unlocker, you can dev-unlock the phone on NoDo and then install U2M7720.
Sorry for being a pain , but im relatively new to WP7 and you just made my entire week by saying interop is possible . Could you maybe lay out a step by step ? I am currently unlocked via Chevronlabs (new one) .
Word around the Trophy section is grim and this would bring some excitement to everyone if it works .
I do not have HTC connection settings in my HTC market ... does that mean its no good now ?
Yeah, sorry - if you don't have Connection Setup then you won't be able to interop-unlock on Mango right now. It's possible another app can be used the same way, but that will require more investigation. To be honest, I've not actually used U2M7720 myself - I interop-unlocked my HD7 by upgrading to Mango during its pre-release period, and using Connection Setup - but there have been multiple reports of it working.
The trick is that Connection Setup is an interopservices app that can be run on Mango anyhow, because it's marketplace signed, but it reads a file on the device that can contain additional operations to perform while setting up your connection (the \Windows\CustClear.provxml file). Prior to Mango, you use an interop app to place that file there (numerous apps exist, U2M7720 is one such but hardly the only - you can even do it manually using TouchXplorer). Then after upgrading, you run Connection Setup and it processes the registry change instructions in the provxml file for you. This makes the required changes to interop-unlock your phone.
The catch is that the official upgrade straight from NoDo to Mango also installs an HTC update that breaks the ability of Connection Setup to use the CustClear.provxml file. U2M7720 works around this by using the beta-upgrade path, putting your phone on retail Mango but without the HTC update (it can still be installed, but installs separately). Because I upgraded my phone from the pre-release anyhow, I didn't need U2M7720. Connection Setup isn't optional, though.
EDIT: Connection Setup is now back in the Marketplace! Much rejoicing to be had.
hmmm .. so would it work if you (or some other fine xda member) uploaded the xap for connection setup? Also , I upgraded to mango during the beta prerelease as well , but then did the official update .
So even if i roll back to NODO , since i did the official update , it will still be broken ? Thats terribly disappointing .
I guess it is impossible after all .

umm.... Advanced Config originally started on HTC devices am i wrong? Samsung Focus has some mishandled exception error when launching.
@goldenpipes: It's totally possible that it did. This fact is even remotely relevant why? It's been available for, and functional on, HTC, Samsung, and LG phones for many months now, since well before Mango.

Unfortunately, after the Win32Exception error, the apps UI works, but in terms of functionality it doesnt (for me at least), it throws a whole bunch of error codes at me when I try to apply the custom accent changes...

[XAP] LG Test App (provxml query) 1

Hi folks,
I need a few testers with LG devices to try something for me. This app is a test app to see if it might be possible to write a registry browser using no homebrew native DLLs (and therefore it would work on Mango).
The test app does not require Mango, but will run on Mango if your device is unlocked for Mango homebrew ("full unlock", not just "dev unlock"). Don't remove ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES; the app almost certainly work without it.
Please run the three tests and report the results. You can then uninstall the app. It will make no changes to your phone. Whether successful or unsuccessful, I have more tests that I'll want to run later. Thanks for helping out; I don't have an LG device so you're really just helping yourselves!
Note: I'm aware that Heathclif74 is bringing his Root Tools app to LG and to Mango, so in the long run this won't be needed. However, it may still be useful - as an interim solution or as an easy way to get interesting results.
EDIT 1: Thanks folks! Due to the third testing returning wayyyyy too many results, I suggest you don't run this anymore - I've got the data I need to create another version. I'll post test 2 later (and I'll have a better way to handle anything expected to return lots of data).
Ok, I will testing after ~5 hours.
I was thinking of the same thing although i tried to copy the repsonse xml files on samsungs to query, but unfortunately they were empty and querying did not work for me. I remember that LG indeed has a query api (it will probably only work on the registry and not on the file system itself).
Good luck with it, if you need help let me know
LG Optimus 7, V7392
Test 1= 1
Test 2= Sub.key contained 1 values: Version
Test 3= a whole bunch of results, maybe 150 !!!!!
If i have more time would report it all.

I think dev unlock here is meant to be a legit developer unlocked device via an AppHub account etc.
Not the way LG users use the MFG tool to unlock their phones. I consider this as fully unlocked because I can sideload ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES xaps perfectly fine, whereas a user with a legit dev unlocked device cannot. They just get the dreaded E: 0x81030120 error.
Here is what the expert says.
The current status with LG devices on Mango is that registry changes are possible via DiagProvXML (MFG tool aside) but file ops are restricted.
1 and 2 tests - same.
What you need from 3th test? I don't understand.

he needs the entire query result for research into LG on-device file operations and registry changes. Since it's many pages of code and no way to export to txt the best way is to take pics of your device for each page you can scroll through (see my post above).
That need change to TextBox.
Whoa, thanks guys!!
Not sure what test 3 is doing - it should be only retrieving results one level deep (recursive=false). This will need to be explored more.
However, the actual result is fantastic! Please stop running the app for now until I come up witha new version that doesn't throw pages and pages of results at you.
@derausgewanderte: I opened up Visual Studio to start that app less than 30 minutes before posting it. Total hack, no frills. I was only expecting maybe 20 results max for the third test, and not recursive ones either!

[XAP][ZIP] Access OEM Marketplaces easily, no dev unlock! (Update 16 Aug 2013)

Hi hackers!
Found something pretty cool while I was digging around looking for new interop-unlock hacks. The bad news is that it looks like it's not usable for interop unlock, the good news is that it's still pretty cool.
This previously required a dev-unlock, but no longer does. It does not require interop-unlock. It works on all phones (as far as I know).
UPDATE 3: ZIP file usable on non-unlocked phones EDIT: I think this will not work on most phones. Sorry! The XAPs still work, if you can sideload them
I've added a ZIP file that can be used to switch the OEM Marketplace without needing to sideload a XAP at all. Instructions are inside, but basically you tap the XML file for the OEM you want, then reboot the phone.
UPDATE 2: Dell Apps.xap, Nokia Apps.xap (v2)
The Dell apps collection is hidden, like the Nokia one was (see Update 1 below). The only app I was able to find was "Newsroom" (another app kind of like HTC Hub). If there are others, please let me know and I'll try to find them.
Nokia has collected their apps into a single marketplace section, like HTC/Samsung/LG. The new Nokia Apps.xap reflects this, so disregard the Update 1 note below for Nokia, and download the new XAP!
UPDATE 1: Nokia Apps.xap (See the Update 2 note - Nokia Apps.xap has been changed)
Be aware that this app works a little differently. Rather than actually adding a "Nokia" store to your Marketplace list, it just enables your phone to access Nokia's apps though the normal marketplace. Not sure why some OEMs did their own store and others didn't, but that's why it wasn't working before (it isn't a stand-alone store section).
An easy way to find the Nokia apps is to do a seach for a well-known app, like Nokia Maps. Then, open it and tap the "More from Nokia Corporation" link. This will take you to a list of all of Nokia's apps.
WHAT IS IT?
Install a XAP or tap an XML file in the ZIP, and restart your phone. Then, open the marketplace, and you'll discover that, instead of "HTC Apps" or "Samsung Zone" or whatever your default is, you can install OEM apps from a different OEM.
WHAT CAN I DO?
If you want to install Nokia, HTC, Samsung, LG, or Dell apps, open the ZIP file on your phone, look for the OEM name you want, and tap the XML file immediately under that OEM name. You'll need to restart your phone before the Marketplace changes.
If you want to help out, give me as much info as you can about the other OEM marketplaces (Toshiba/Fujitsu, perhaps?)
IS IT DANGEROUS?
Well, it's a hack. There's always *some* danger. However, you don't need to worry very much. The phone will automatically revert the Marketplace after a day or so. You can also get your proper marketplace back by installing the corresponding app/tapping the desired ZIP.
However, you *really* should keep an up-to-date restore point any time you're messing with stuff like that, especially with new hacks. If something screws up and doesn't straighten out, restore a backup or hard-reset and it will fix itself.
EDIT: The ZIP does not appear to work on most phones. The XAP files should still work on 7.8, though.
WHO CAN I THANK?
Well, aside from myself thanks go to:
Heathcliff74, for the XAP deployer hack and the Samsung marketplace configuration file.
Schaps, for TouchXplorer (let me find the relevant file).
Voluptuary, for info about both OEM and MO marketplaces (working on those).
wpxbox, for the info about "Nokia collection".
CAN I ASK A QUESTION?
You just did, or at least, I did for you. Please see the next post after this one for FAQ. Otherwise, feel free to post a reply with your question. Please, if it's at all relevant, include the make, model, and version of your phone and OS/firmware.
OK, I know you all will have some questions. I'll try to collect them, and their answers, here so people don't have to read every post.
If you ask a question that is already answered here, I may facepalm and/or use sarcasm.
DO I NEED TO RUN THIS APP?
No, you don't. It doesn't do anything at all after installing. In fact, I re-used another app that I had handy, so the message you see isn't even accurate!
WHY DOES THE MESSAGE IN THE APP TALK ABOUT INTEROP UNLOCK? CAN I USE THIS APP FOR INTEROP UNLOCK?
It talks about it because I reused in interop-unlock app (which works exactly the same way, but with a different file). This app will not interop-unlock your phone, or even allow you to do so. However, it doesn't need interop-unlock, either. Furthermore, why are you running the app? You don't need to; none of the instructions say to run it.
CAN I DELETE THE APP?
Yes. Once it's installed, you can delete it immediately if you want to.
HOW DO I GET MY OWN OEM'S MARKETPLACE BACK?
You can either install the corresponding XAP and reboot, or you can wait a day or so for the phone to recover on its own.
HOW CAN I GET BACK TO AN OEM MARKETPLACE THAT I ACCESSED BEFORE?
Remove the app (and any variant of it), if it's currently installed. Then, install it again. Then, reboot as before, and you should see the marketplace corresponding to whatever XAP you used.
WHY DON'T ALL APPS WORK?
Many apps will use native drivers to do their work. These drivers are specific to each OEM's firmware, and are baked into the ROM. Apps that don't need special permissions, like the Samsung Now app or LG's Look n Type, should work. Apps that have high permissions or do device-specific things, like a Network Profile app or HTC Sound Enhancer (if it ever appears again) won't work on other phones.
SOME OF THESE APPS HAVE ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES, CAN WE USE THEM FOR INTEROP UNLOCK?
No. The apps may appear to work (even on interop-locked phones) because they were installed from the Marketplace and have valid signatures. However, they won't actually be able to do anything useful, because the wrong drivers will be installed (see the previous question).
CAN YOU ADD A XAP FOR ANOTHER MARKETPLACE?
Sure, once the required configuration data is available. This can be tricky - for example, the values for HTC and Samsung are "HTC" and "Samsung", respectively, but the one for LG is actually "LGE" (LG Electronics). I don't know what they are for Toshiba/Fujitsu, and I'm not sure I have everything from Dell, and I don't have any others. Any help here would be appreciated!
CAN I ACCESS MORE THAN ONE OEM MARKETPLACE AT ONCE?
No, sorry. I tried to build support for multiple OEM markets, but it didn't work. The last one overwrites the previous.
WILL APPS KEEP WORKING AFTER THE MARKETPLACE REVERTS?
So far, yes. I don't know whether they'll get updates, although I suspect they will.
CAN SOMETHING BE DONE ABOUT APPS COMPLAINING THEY DON'T WORK ON MY PHONE?
Sadly, no (nothing safe). Most of the LG and Samsung apps that I've tried work just fine (interop aside) on my HTC phone. It helps that in Mango, a lot of formerly interop capabilities (like compass for LG ScanSearch) are now in the official APIs. Some apps will still check though, and there's nothing I can do about that.
CAN WE ACCESS MARKETPLACES FOR OTHER OPERATORS?
It's probably possible, but I haven't bothered to try yet. If there are interesting apps for carriers that work outside of that carrier's network, I'll give it a shot. It's a different file but the structure is very similar.
IS THERE A LIST OF APPS KNOWN TO WORK?

can you just deploy all three and have access to all 3 sources in marketplace?
once you install apps from the other oem sources, and the market reverts back, do you lose the apps you have installed?
No. I tried to build it so you could access multiple OEM marketplaces at once, but it didn't work - only ever used the last one in the config file.
Apps stay installed and runnable even after the marketplace reverts. However, I can't promise they'll receive updates. I think they will, but I haven't been testing this long enough to find out.
Dell's marketplace string is "Dell"
Nokia's marketplace string is "Nokia"
I still haven't figured out Fujistu's.
thanx dude,
The 3 xap files are working on the HTC Trophy.
But the LG apps that you can download, if you run the downloaded app from LG place. He said Only for LG devices.
So are you editing the files in the 'keepers' folder? I had found those some time ago and posted them HERE back in October. I thought they would lead to this since when they were deleted the OEM marketplaces would simply go away, same can be done to remove the carrier marketplaces, but I had trouble getting them off my device to really look at them.
Be warned though in my similar pre-mango hack with the registry we found that changing the OEM marketplace values made the DRM wig out and would prevent any apps from starting. The only way to fix it was a full reset or restore to a point before the modifications were done.
I would guess that if you edit LKG_MOStoreConfig.xml you could do the same thing with carriers.
OEM's:
Samsung
HTC
LGE
Dell
Nokia
MO's:
Att
Tmous
Tmode
I am pretty sure these are case sensitive too so keep that in mind.
Thanks GoodDayToDie
this solution it gives me solved my phone not show OEM App in market
Just wondering and perhaps some people might want to test with me if we set LKG_MOStoreConfig.xml and LKG_OEMStoreConfig.xml to read only will it stay set instead of only lasting a few days?
The reason I want this is becuase I want at&t's stupid marketplace entry to remain GONE so I edited LKG_MOStoreConfig.xml to this:
Code:
<ConfigurationFile version="1">
<MOStore>
<setting id="MOName"></setting>
<setting id="MOStoreName"></setting>
<setting id="MOStoreID"></setting>
<setting id="MOStoreEnabled">False</setting>
</MOStore>
</ConfigurationFile>
Now I'm just guessing that this is how it should look since like I said before I never could get the original files off my phone to look at them.
@voluptuary: That would probably work (in fact, the "false" alone is probably enough). Marking the file read-only may or may not be sufficient.
@cyclonemon: You're welcome! I didn't even realize people were having that issue but yes, it should help there too.
I am confused, can't I do this already with Milkman's WP7 3MktPlace? I can search/list 3MktPlace apps . I can add new info such as Nokia to the application. It finds and saves the XAP to the PC and from which I can deploy it to the phone.
ok, after reading more carefully, the program process above would require interop unlock, your route doesn't
@voluptuary (again): Thanks for the OEM names. I'm pretty sure I tried "Nokia" and it didn't work, but I'm trying it again (I did the edit on the phone during testing, and that's pretty typo-prone). For what it's worth, they are not case sensitive (a good thing, since the official casing for Samsung is actually SAMSUNG).
EDIT: Confirmation, "Nokia" does not work.
You're exactly right about which file I'm replacing (you can see that if you crack the XAP). I was looking to use the embedded provxml in MOConfig to do interop-unlock, but it looks like the process which reads that file doesn't have the required permissions. I could do something for the MO marketplaces too, but I'm really not sure there's value to it; do the MOs have apps that are useful if you're not a subscriber?
So far, no DRM wig-outs. I'm hoping it works when I don't mess with the registry. We shall see.
@derausgewanderte: This method doesn't use up unsigned app limit (aside from briefly, when the configuration app is installed). It also allows updates from the phone itself.

I see, thanks for the clarification.
just for your info. Milkman's program works with "Nokia" if that helps.
Thanks, but... neither "Nokia" nor "Dell" are working. It's rather annoying. Samsung I had the actual file to work from, but LG[E] I figured out on my own, and it works. Not so with Nokia or Dell though.
Nokia on the marketplace has the string nokia.
As this seems a nice hack, be very carefull with changing the OEM name of your phone. Doing this a couple of times will invalid something with the DRM and will force you to do a hard reset. You will not be able to run any app installed trough the MP otherwise and you will not be able to install anything.
I dont know for sure if the same thing would happen trough this method, but I'm not going to try it out. I tried it with editing the registry and if you do that about 5 times, your phone cant do anything without a hard reset.
I'm posting this to avoid problems, not to kill this hack. Because its defenetly good work, but before any complications arise, be warned.

Yes yes please heed this warning. It happened to me.
I'm aware of the problem with the registry editing method. I can't guarantee it won't happen here (make sure you have a recent backup!) but I'm hopeful. I've made far more than 5 changes, and while I haven't had it in this state for weeks yet, I have for days, and so far no problems at all.
EDIT: @VoodooKing: Just to confirm, your problem was with the registry tweak method, right? If you hit that problem with these XAPs, please let me know.

Yeah, I can't get Nokia to work either, however my Lumia 800 never had a "Nokia Marketplace" to begin with on the phone so that may have something to do with it. I think the other programs that have been mentioned are pulling apps in a slightly different way than what acctually happens on the phone. I would guess pehaps there is some handset ID matching or something on the phone marketplace whereas with the PC/Web based methods there isn't. (just guessing)
On a side note I tried setting the MOConfig to read only (like I said before) and while att's marketplace still sadly came back, it came back different. It used to be "AT&T AppCenter(tm)" now it reads "AT&T Featured" so that is odd. As for carrier app usefullness IMHO the at&t ones are garbage but I can't speak to any other carriers.
You have to search for Nokia apps in the marketplace for them to show up. There is no Nokia store.
Yes changing registry a few times caused my phone to not launch apps and install from marketplace. I think I changed the name more than 5 times.

[XAP|Source] Marketplace Config - Easily change marketplace settings

Here is an app I made to quickly and easily change marketplace settings. Similar apps exist already, but this one has a few features I've not seen in the other ones. This project was more of a way for me to learn about homebrew dev, but it resulted in a useful program so nothing wrong with that
Source
This app is open source. It is hosted on Google Code. If anyone would like to help contribute, PM me and we'll discuss getting you added.
What you can do
Change OEM marketplace - You can choose from any of the 8 OEM stores, or view a combined market with all 8 at the same time.
Change MO marketplace - I'm working on getting as many as possible included. The app will ask kindly to submit if yours is a new one.
Change the maximum file size cap over 3g - Download larger apps and podcasts over 3G without needing a wifi connection
Lock the settings - Prevents your settings from reverting back in a day or two when the marketplace updates itself
Who can run this?
You need a root unlock. So either a full unlock or WP7 Root Tools with this app marked as Trusted.
Changelog
Beta 2.0.3 - 6/7/12 - Going off of the error reports I received from yesterday's release, I added better error handling to hopefully alleviate those problems.
Beta 2.0.2 - 6/6/12 - Added a better error handler. Users are now prompted with the option to submit bug reports, so I may better track down issues.
Beta 2.0.1 - 6/4/12 - Fixed a bug that would cause the app to crash if no MO store was configured on the device. The app also informs you if it's not set to Trusted in WP7 Root Tools.
Beta 2 - 5/31/12 - After spending too much time working on a rewrite, the next beta is ready. I've changed a ton of things under the hood, but the big new feature is viewing all OEM markets at the same time. I've also released the source as of this version, though I am not speaking for it's quality. Some parts are more polished than others.
Beta 1.4 - 5/2/12 - Added a few new mobile operators. Added country flags to MO selection screen. Fixed more crashed.
Beta 1.3 - 5/1/12 - Added a slew of new mobile operators, along with an option to remove it (for contract-free phones, direct from OEM, etc)
Beta 1.2 - 4/29/12 - Fixed crashing bug. Added Telekom MO (thanks contable). Added OEM logos.
Beta 1.1 - 4/28/12 - Removed device spoofing (it can break DRM, thanks for the heads up GoodDayToDie). Added Sprint MO.
Beta 1 - 4/28/12 - Initial release
Thanks to
Heathcliff74 for the wonderful WP7 Root Tools SDK
GoodDayToDie for his homebrew efforts, which I use for file IO
balcsida for providing new icons
It doesn't launch on my Titan...so it will probably need a higher level of unlock than a Dev unlock.
You'll need "root" unlock, meaning either full-unlock or WP7 Root Tools and the app marked as "Trusted".
@ken52787: Very cool! I was actually working on something very much like this. Would you mind sharing your source code? If I can merge what I was working on into what you've already got, that would be great.
One very big concern, though: changing the OEM name in DeviceTargetingInfo (which is what I assume you're doing to make apps like Nokia Drive work) is extremely dangerous. Although I'm not sure exactly what the trigger is (suggestions have been things like leaving it changed for more than 24 hours, or changing it more than 5 times), changing that value can permanently break the Marketplace DRM on your phone. All your Marketplace apps will stop launching, and you won't be able to install more. The only solution we know of is a hard-reset or a restore point; returning the registry value to the original OEM name does not help.

Yikes! I was not aware of this. I took that out and reupped the xap.
And yes, I'll share the source soon, I just want to clean it up a bit first since it's rather sloppy at the moment

The initial beta is a little rough around the edges, but should be stable. Please report any oddities you notice and provide feedback and suggestions.
What you can do
Change OEM marketplace - Included are Acer, Dell, Fujitsu, HTC, LG, Nokia, Samsung, and ZTE (although only HTC, LG, Nokia, and Samsung have accessible marketplaces)
Change MO marketplace - Included are AT&T, Orange, Sprint, and Verizon (I had a hard time finding other marketplaces. If you are on a carrier other than these, please send me your settings so I can include them, the program will automate this for you with your permission)
Change the maximum file size cap over 3g - Download larger apps and podcasts over 3G without needing a wifi connection
Lock the settings - Prevents your settings from reverting back in a day or two when the marketplace updates itself

What kind of unlock do you have?
curious... why are XAPs being posted in this sub-forum when their is a WP7 Software Development sub-forum?
nice looking app, though. curious as to how you 'locked' the Market.
would love to add that into my version of this app, Market Select.
The Software Development sub-forum always seemsed more focused on general app development rather than tweaks to the OS. Last time I was reading that forum, it seemed like it was mostly stuff using the official APIs, too. Maybe I should start reading it again, though...
You can lock in changes to Marketplace configurations by setting read-only on the XML files.
@OP: Thanks for the quick fix, and you're welcome for the tip! The 1.1 version works well on my phone. Two (related) suggestions, though:
1: The messageboxes the pop up at first run block the UI from loading. If the UI doesn't load within a few seconds (10 or so) the OS will kill the app. You may want to cause them to pop up on a delay or something...
2: There's no option to send your MO (or OEM) files after the initial messagebox prompt. I'd like to send you the T-Mobile US files (not that the TMoUS apps are super-exciting) but the app was killed on me before I could click it! I can go pull them off the filesystem manually, of course...
Thx for this app.
I have sent you the settings for Telekom Germany (T-Mobile DE), would be nice if you could add them...

See what I mean about sloppy coding and wanting to clean it up before releasing the source
App works good on my hd7. Although during first run it made a backup. Then asked me if I wanted to sent my carrier setting since you don't have them. I was going to then the app crashed and never gave me the option again. App runs fine other than the first run when it crashed.
Sent from my HD7 T9292 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I posted a quick update. This one fixes the crashing bug.
Thx for the quick update...

v1.1 and v 1.2 are crash
it mean i install this app then set trust on root...it open but quickly get out
so;
whats the problem !?
Doesn't load on my Dev Unlocked TITAN.
Says something about an error occurred while reading current store config

You need a full unlock or root access with WP7 Root Tools. Dev unlock is not enough (the phone doesn't like me messing about in the file system)
Also, I just posted an update. No changes other than adding a bunch of new MOs. Thanks to everyone who submitted them! I have some ideas for beta 2, if only I could find some time to work on it I also plan on releasing the source when I get that version out.
Using 1.3 with Samsung Focus... Set the Trust to ON through RootTools as well.
I Get the "an error occured while reading your current store config".
If i click on OK application shows the main screen briefly and then exists. Otherwise shows the following error:::
CreateFile failed for \My Documents\Zune\PimentoCache\Keepers\LKKG_MOStoreConfig.xml! GetLastError: 2
Thanks.
You're sure it's two Ks ("LKKG_MOStoreConfig.xml")? That's a typo, then. It would explain why you're getting an error of File Not Found as well.
