Hey all i have a bog standard motorola defy and i always have the keyboard sounds on and the selection sounds enabled too i prefer them. Stupid to ask help but i unpluged my phone off charge this morning and all of these sounds have stopped. The phone volume is on full. They are still selected on the settings menu i have tried turning the phone off and on again with no success. Also the camera shutter noise has gone. I know they're only little sounds but its not the same without them. Can anyone please help?

Hi. I've had my Desire for some weeks now. But some day or two ago the text vibration stopped working. It's only the vibration when I get a text that doesn't work. When someone calls, feedback when I'm writing also work.
Anyone of you that know what it could be? I've checked settings etc.

I had the very same problem with my first Desire on a week or two after I got it. I tried literally everything. I called HTC they had no idea what to do nor how to fix it. So I called T-Mobile (who I got the phone from) told them about it, they couldn't fix it either so I got a replacement phone.
Seemingly there is no way of fixing it. The motor is fine, but something is bugged. Perhaps one of the more astute Desire users (using custom ROMs) may be able to shed some more light on the problem, but as far as I know, it is unfixable.
Ok. I guess I need to contact the store I got it from. Thanks

This is a known issue which means the text vibration stops working when the battery gets low and it doesn't come back after charging the phone.
Download and install sound manager from Android market, use it to turn on text message vibration and it'll all work again for you. Best of all It's all completely free.
Let us know if it works for you like it did for me.
Rik.

Well sound manager worked. Thanks a lot

I just love a problem like this that seems unfixable only to find a detailed and workable fix. Bravo.
I wish I would've known that before getting a replacement phone. Ah well, it didn't cost me anything.
Glad it worked for you all, can't remember where I first heard it but it worked for me

I installed sound manager after, I observed that the vibration does not work on my phone. For the beginning all was OK,I began testing and saw that from 5 calls 3-4 are without vibration and 1 is with the vibration, though the vibration is on from phone settings and sound manager.I didn't try to factory reset the phone because I would lose everything .Any ideas would be appreciated.
I had this problem a while ago. Download 'Sound Manager' from the Market, and there's an option in it, 'Vibrate Always' or something. That did it for me anyway, hope it helps you

I had an intermittent problem with the vibrate function after about 6 months. I sent my phone back to HTC. Initially they replaced the motherboard which didn't fix the problem. I sent it back again (set as priority) and they replaced the vibration module. It all works fine now. It's an option to consider if you can put up with being without your phone but I think it's worth doing.
Hi! As stated in titel, I want to disable vibration on boot and shutdown. Before froyo, it used to vibrate only when starting, now vibrates also in shutdown.
There is a small app called Silent Boot which disables sound on boot even though the phone is not in the silent mode. App that I am looking for is an app similar to it but also has ability to disable vibration.
Additionally, although "haptic feedback" option is deselected, it is still available in the stock calculator.. annoying. I want to use vibration only on incoming calls, nowhere else.

Vibration on start / shutdown - How to disable?
Is there a solution to do that?
Would also like to know this. Bump.
Me too, no idea why they included the shutdown vibration in the Froyo update. Pointless?
Ehm, just curious ...
What's the problem with vibration during shutdown and boot?
I hate the boot sound MORE because it affect other people ... But, I "fixed" that using Tasker easily (no root required)
Sorted out the boot sound issue thanks to "Silent Boot". Simply, personally, I find vibration much irritating on such. Pointless..

I understand. personal reason etc. however its not pointless. If the phone takes more than a few seconds to shut down the screen goes blank but the phone is still "shutting down". This happened alot on 2.1. Phone would take 10minutes to shut down. you had to keep turning on screen to see if it was off yet or still 'shuttnig down' The vibrate now gives a positive confirmation the phone is off. not just screen off.
Ok I see the function as well, but it would be better if this was left for user to decide whether or not to use it; as kind of preference.

Its probably going to be more hassle than its worth disabling it. Though I really can't see why it really is a problem, do you like shutting your phone down a lot? I can't remember the last time I actually turned mine off or even had to restart it
If you root the phone and bake a custom ROM you can get rid of it - the latest MoDaCo ROM has this 'feature'
Personally, I like the boot sound/vibrations
I was considering that there might be a tweak, an app etc. which is not requiring root and/or cooked rom as well (like as Silent Boot) now I see there is no way out.
Yeap, this is a matter of taste...
BUMP
Believe it or not the noise of the vibrate has woke the person next to me up more than once. I need it gone.

Well, afaik, the FroYo update has removed the shutdown-vibration.
The Boot-One is still there though.
shutdown vibrate annoyance
turn on haptic and set the vibration level to zero, unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view) this also disables all vibration alerts.

I'm just baffled at how a 16 month old thread gets revived...and to what purpose??
You coming to OneX or what?
Having a weird issue where even when I set my sound profile to normal the media volume will not go up. The level indicator pops up in the screen but it simply stays at the minimum with the x next to the speaker. I should note that I normally use switch pro to change this, but it still doesn't work even if I go into settings. A reboot does fix the issue.

I had this same problem last night, and I also use Switch Pro. After I pulled out the battery it went back to normal and now it doesn't do it. In your Switch Pro, do you have "Mute Media Volume" selected? I had it selected on my phone and that's when I had the issue. Before the battery pull I unchecked it and after it it worked normally.
Yea, I do have that checked. I'll try your method and report back.

So I did what you said and the sounds does work now, but the problem is that the silent setting no longer muted the media volume. Switching back to the checked box results in the original issue again... gggggrrrrrrr

Update: looks like its definitely switch. Force killing it returns media sound. Guess we now wait for an update.

I have the same problem but I'm not using switch. I have calculkins Rom with kingx #11. If I put it at mute it won't allow me to up the volume either in settings or on side of phone.
i have exacly the same problem with the sound i still have the stock ROM on it but and i dont use Switch Pro.. pulling the battery does solved the problem so tnx i hope it was a 1x only
Edit: PS i only removed the s-off and rooted the phone
Okay so I noticed a few days ago that the silent mode wasn't working on my G2 when my phone rang despite it being in that mode. The icon was in the status bar, and I couldn't figure out how to make it actually become silent. It had worked before, but I'm not sure exactly when it stopped working. So yesterday, to try to eliminate any problems, I wiped user data, and pretty much everything and flashed a fresh install of CM 7.0.3. I tried putting the phone into silent mode through settings, through the lockscreen slider, and ultimately by trying to just use the volume rocker. It was then that I noticed that on the volume prompt that the silent mode icon was showing but there was still a bit of the volume percentage left in the bar. I really can't figure out what to do now, suggestions?
Reflash rom or try another

I'm having the same issue on MyTouch 3G Slide. It was working normally for the few months that I flashed this ROM... but for me it started after I replaced the Flex Cable the other day.
Playing with the "Sound" and "CyanogenMod Settings > Sound" settings does not do anything. The only way to really get silence is to manually slide the volume bar in the "Sound" settings to empty. Some things still have sound though such as my camera focus/shutter - before I was able to take a photo silently but not there's the ridiculously loud camera noise.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay so after flashing Virtuous, MIUI, and CM7.1 RC1, my problem still persisted. I was finally about to give up, so I just flashed a backup I had from about two weeks ago. When I restarted the phone, the volume settings were just fine, and back to a normal state. I must've flashed something recently that messed it up
@Hvargas
I'm not really that experienced with these kind of hardware problems, sorry bud
For some reason the notification light and sound has stopped working. Volume is up, sounds work in games, music player, etc. But when I get a text... No sound, no led light. Tried wiping cache, still nothing. Any ideas?

What ROM are you running and android version? What about Kernel?
Can you remember if this has started happening after you installed a specific app?
Did you check the notification sound in the settings? Try putting it to zero then increase it again. Mute it then unmute it again.
Do you use Lightflow for light notification? If yes then ensure that it got root permissions.
Sorry for these so many questions, but it would really help to know about them so members here know how to help you further
I'm running Eclipse 2.1 with lean kernel. Haven't added any apps in the time this started. Tinkered around a bunch and got the sound to work, but still no led.

Good to know that sound is back
Which app are you using for the Light notification? Light Flow Lite? I have lost some of the led notifications recently but updating my Light Flow Lite app solved the problem
