Hi. I've had my Desire for some weeks now. But some day or two ago the text vibration stopped working. It's only the vibration when I get a text that doesn't work. When someone calls, feedback when I'm writing also work.
Anyone of you that know what it could be? I've checked settings etc.

I had the very same problem with my first Desire on a week or two after I got it. I tried literally everything. I called HTC they had no idea what to do nor how to fix it. So I called T-Mobile (who I got the phone from) told them about it, they couldn't fix it either so I got a replacement phone.
Seemingly there is no way of fixing it. The motor is fine, but something is bugged. Perhaps one of the more astute Desire users (using custom ROMs) may be able to shed some more light on the problem, but as far as I know, it is unfixable.
Ok. I guess I need to contact the store I got it from. Thanks

This is a known issue which means the text vibration stops working when the battery gets low and it doesn't come back after charging the phone.
Download and install sound manager from Android market, use it to turn on text message vibration and it'll all work again for you. Best of all It's all completely free.
Let us know if it works for you like it did for me.
Rik.

I just love a problem like this that seems unfixable only to find a detailed and workable fix. Bravo.
I wish I would've known that before getting a replacement phone. Ah well, it didn't cost me anything.
Glad it worked for you all, can't remember where I first heard it but it worked for me

I installed sound manager after, I observed that the vibration does not work on my phone. For the beginning all was OK,I began testing and saw that from 5 calls 3-4 are without vibration and 1 is with the vibration, though the vibration is on from phone settings and sound manager.I didn't try to factory reset the phone because I would lose everything .Any ideas would be appreciated.
I had this problem a while ago. Download 'Sound Manager' from the Market, and there's an option in it, 'Vibrate Always' or something. That did it for me anyway, hope it helps you

I had an intermittent problem with the vibrate function after about 6 months. I sent my phone back to HTC. Initially they replaced the motherboard which didn't fix the problem. I sent it back again (set as priority) and they replaced the vibration module. It all works fine now. It's an option to consider if you can put up with being without your phone but I think it's worth doing.

I've been using Cyanongen 7.0.3 for a couple of months now. Recently the phone is acting quite strange. It's constantly lockig up(I need to remove the battery to restart it). Has anyone else noticed this behavior? Can this be caused by an app that's installed?

I have noticed the same problem with every non-sense roms i have tried (oxygen, CM, Redux and MIUI). In my case it specially occurs when I used Spotify, It stops paying music and then force-close after that the rom gets very slow, cant restart the normal way either, have to pull out the battery...
I think I've found the problem. After uninstalling JuiceDefender the problem stopped(at least for now)

My Desire phone has been doing that since it was new - last January. When I make or receive a phone call, the screen locks so that I cannot use the keyboard for an automated answering system. Finally, I can never hang up. Pressing the power button sometimes shows the hang up button for about half a second.
I sent it to the HTC agent for repair and was told nothing was wrong with it!
I have rooted the phone, to see if I could change the settings controlling the phone, but so far have had no luck. I can't use the phone as a phone!!!!!
PS. At first, I uninstalled all the apps I had collected, but the problem continued. I have also reset the phone to factory settings, but still no improvement. I wonder how many users have this sort of problem.
What's up guys, i'm new here . Three days ago, HTC sent back my phone after a checkup for a vibration problem. They said that they did a software update (false, it was already 1.29.401.11) and sensors calibration. Yesterday, the phone stopped vibrating again. What should i do now? I think that is a software problem (stock rom, never rooted). I'm sorry for bad english . Thanks

Don't think you can do anything much other than give it back and ask for a replacement as it's the second time this has happened... Also, try doing a factory restore and see if it works.

I dit it, but this should be the third time that i send it to assistance. The first one was for a g sensor problem, resolved with a replacement of motherboard, but when i sent it the vibration worked perfectly, i suspect that they broken my phone.

mine keeps vibrating every 30 min or so
i cant figure out what's causing it any suggestions what it would be ?
not a incoming email vibration notification , not a wi-fi drop out vibration notification.

They actually scammed you by saying they updated it(when it was updated already like you say) You should go back, yell at them and take out some frustration if you wish =P
Don't root your phone to install another rom, try fixing it as is on stock rom.
I would try these:
1)Factory Reset
2)Update to latest FW
3)HTC Diagnostics Test (Has a vibration test)
4)Haptic Feedback On(To see if it vibrates on typing and tapping and such)
5)Phone Ringing with vibration
If any of the above work, then its definitely a software problem.
If they don't, either way you have to go back to HTC. Try getting a replacement. Say you're tired of coming back again and again to get your phone fixed, "Give me a replacement or My Money back"
I read another post a few weeks back where the user was experiencing these mechanical sounds on haptic feedback(I also have that problem) but his vibration stopped altogether. He got his HOX replaced.
Anyways Good Luck.

I don't recommend hijacking the thread, create your own thread
Sorry I'm probably stepping on his thread too, but please point in any directtion before I have an inoperable phone and a hard time getting HTC to cover.
However, I an issue that will f-up this phone I'm afraid. I have on a daily basis what I would describe as an alarm of some sorts (can't duplicate) that runs about 15 seconds once to twice daily at full vibration. Not rooted and have reset 3 times.
If you've ever run a battery drain program with full vibration on. Not good for the phone. I'm at a loss in this one, really dreading tech support or my local store. Will run the HTC diags but any other ideas greatly appreciated
No receipt, no box and I traded for it on Craig'slist 2weeks ago..

My friend had the same problem with a HOX - it wouldn't vibrate at all. He tried doing a factory reset and playing with settings, but nothing worked, so he sent it back and got a replacement. I'm not sure you can do anything about it since it's likely a hardware problem.
After two years of use my Desire HD has developed some strange problems after I dropped it. The volume rocker does not work, the WiFi and bluetooth dont work and finally the strangest problem, that the keyboard does not come on when you want to input text for any App. The screen and touch input work without fault, scolling and selecting icons without problem. Making phone calls and internet connection seems to be OK as well.
I suspect I have damaged the motherboard or some other hardware, so before I buy a new phone I was wondering if anyone else had any of these problems and if so was it easily fixed.
Cheers

i knw this may sound strange but try flashing another ROM first, worth giving a try..
I did as you advised, which fixed the keyboard problem. The other faults are still evident so I guess I have damaged some hardware or cable. At least I can now use the phone to text message.
I will have to have someone take a look at the inside of the phone. Checked a diss amble video out and it looks complicated.

Received the M8 a few days ago and the LED works OK as it lights up on charging...BUT that's it no missed call or Email SMS etc.
Looking around various forums it looks like there are some issues probably software related as people have exchanged phones and still had the issue.
My question to you on the International version is anyone having these issues and if so has anyone found a fix.
Thank you

I had the same issue; so I factory reset the phone. But this time around, I didn't restore any backup and started fresh. Seems to be working so far (and it's been 2 days).

Thank you I will try that when time is permitting...most frustrating though on a new phone and cannot see any apps that were restored from Google that may have been in conflict.

Can confirm this method works but should'nt have had to factory reset. I'm now resetting up all my phone . .just hope it doesnt happen again.
Must be back from google bug somewhere that messes up the LED's from working ?? But dont really understand how it would . .
I had the same problem. I read on another forum that if you install another launcher the led stops working for notifications. When I first setup my phone restored apps and one of them happened to be a launcher. I did factory reset did not restore any apps and notifications led started working again. I'm not sure if another launcher had anything to do with it but the fix worked for me.
For me the notification LED works from day one, did not had a problem, i did restore my apps from backup but i never used any other launcher so i cannot confirm that is the problem. But i believe it must be app related as its working for some and not for others, usually hard reset without restoring app brings it back. Strange...
When I was migrating my note 2 to m8 must have copied a new launcher . I have factory reset and installed backups manually all is good now

This may or may not be related, but is there any way to keep the LED light flashing when you have a notification and not have it turn off after five minutes?

Everything I found says that there is no setting on the phone to change that. It may require a developer to patch it or give us some instructions on how to extend the time.
I'm also having the same problem with the LED notification. I really don't want to do a factory reset so i'm still hoping that there is a solution to this. The LED lights up during charging but does not light up at all for text message or email or other notifications. I'm using nova launcher so some are saying that it is because of these third party launchers that is the cause but i'm still wondering how can that really effect the LED. I hope somebody can really enlighten us on this.
I had this issue but only for missed calls. Other missed things would still notify. I did a factory reset and still have the same problem without doing any backups!!
I have the same Issue but I really don't want to reset the phone.
Still hoping for another fix....

I had the same problem on the day I picked it up. Read about the factory reset and as it was my first day with it decided to go for it.
That did indeed fix it and the led started working as it should..... Today however, they have stopped again. I haven't installed any other apps and a power cycle doesn't help.
Don't want to reset it again so am hoping they fix this soon.
Any news on this? Really missing led notification
Verstuurd vanaf mijn HTC One_M8 met Tapatalk
I installed Light Manager and i seem to be getting lights, however im getting random notifications with a vibrate and light when there is in fact no notification.
Mine seem to come and go, they worked after the factory reset for a bit I then noticed that they had stopped .
Now they are working again.... Seems very strange.

I dont get any green light notifications while my phone is charging, i would at least expect the screen to come on.
Notification LED only works if your screen is off. The LED for charging will illuminate no matter if screen is off or on

Hi just wondering if anyone can help. I've noticed I keep missing calls and yesterday when receiving a call I noticed that it rang loud once then lowered, I've since tested it, and every other ring lowers to a barely audible level. I've not got silent on pickup on but do have pocket mode on. I can't understand why.
Cheers for any help

I have a similar issue, I've noticed that, it sounds fine when I preview notifications and ringtones, but when the phone actually rings it is a lot more quiet and muted. It does appear that the top speaker is not being used for ringtones.
Called HTC, spoke with a girl who sounded like she was following some sort of flowchart. Needless to say she couldn't help and concluded that it was a defective hardware. I tried to explain that others are having the same issue and it appears to be a bug, but I don't think she understood. Maybe if more people call HTC with this issue, they will figure it out.
Mine seems to play through both at first then switches to just the bottom and gets lower. Any way to stop this?

I'm guessing it's a bug as I've seen others complain about this issue on other forums. I hope they will fix it in the next update. Try calling HTC, the more people complain about it, the quicker they will fix it. When I called, they said that someone will get back to me to schedule an exchange, but instead, about a week later they sent me an RMA for a return. I don't really want to return the phone, I was going to test the replacement and if that one worked fine I would return mine, if not, I was going to return the replacement.
