Hii guys, i m new to this forum .this is first post. Last week i got motorola defy which is my 1st android mobile. I accept that i m completely noob when it comes to android platform. I came from Nokia 6600, 5230 n now on Defy.
i have several problem with defy
I want to connect internet to my pc through defy but it can't. I also tried enable n disable internet tethering but it not working.
Also i got my defy preloaded with 2.2 froyo. i googled abot defy n i found some rooting, flashing, cm7,etc
I don't know much about rooting ,flashing,roms
But i want to know and i also want to best performance from my defy. My friend from fb suggested xda dev. Site tats im here to get help from u guys.

I have lots of experence with android phones. And I found the defy very different to the others in the way you flash.
I use cm7 myself and its very good for daily use. There are a few YouTube videos you can watching showing the process.
so read and watch as much as you can wait a week if you still feel you wanna do it, read some more and go for it.

I am not able to integrate my Facebook with my Defy,
Whenever i press on Facebook in "Add Accounts" ,nothing happens....

i assume you have the 3.4.3-36-1.7 SEA 2.2.2, right? if yes, that froyo version is deblurred, get a blurred version (eg. 3.4.3-33 SEA).

please search before posting! and read the beginners guide in defy general, and the defy wiki page in defy android development! btw, cyanogenmod has better integration of facebook than stock rom, and its way faster!

Well i did search before posting,and i did post when i cudnt find anything relating to facebook.
And i m not into modding my phone since its been only a few days that i bought it,i dont wanna mod it so early.
So i cudnt find any solution to my problem,and if u have some other way of getting rid of this,then i ll really appreciate it.

[offtopic] @nimitbhardwaj: hey dude, i m also from india and have the same version installed. can u confirm me if u get some wierd problem in touchscreen like it gets pressed automatically or something like that. I m facing this problem and not sure if its a software or hardware problem.
I am at my witts end with this stupid phone. I am trying so hard to find an actual download for the android 1.5 cupcake update. I have been looking for two days straight. All I want to do is to get android 1.5 cupcake on this phone and googles link for the update has been gone for a while. I have seen MANY successful attempts at upgrading without root... Its as simple as renaming the file to update, dropping it in the sd card and rebooting with home + power button and hitting alt+L and alt+S and boom thats it...
Does ANYONE have a solution or better yet... a link to a working download of android 1.5 cupcake so that I can upgrade this phone? I am desperate. Thanks so much.

ok so here is a guide to unbrick a HTC G1....not exactly what you asked for, but bear with me. ---code.google.com/p/android-roms/wiki/Unbrick--- (apparently I can't post links due to me being a new user)
in this guide towards the bottom of the page, there are several link to the different android versions for the G1 and they are all good links...I used this guide myself, so I know it is solid.
take the time and read through this guide so that you will be better able to choose the files you want to download.

hey I really do appreciate the link. I will check it out and pray to God that I can get some success. With this phone the ONLY desire that I have is to get the camcorder anyway. I know there are alot of other nice features but if its this ahrd to do and I was able to get just the camcorder I would probably be stoked.
In the event anyone else reads this and has some feedback or a working link to a download of the 1.5 cupcake (even the UK download) I would be thankful. From what I have seen even people that used the UK download were able to get it working WITHOUT root in all of 2 minutes which is fantastic... If only I had a working download for it. Unfortunately google decided to take it down permanently and every time I do a search with google or yahoo, ALL the links for a download are to the google site which doesn't work.
So, if ANYONE has any help with this I would truly appreciate it because I am literally at my witts end. And charltonstanley... Once again, thanks alot and I will chec out the link of yours. I really appreciate the reply.

Like I said before, the links are towards the very bottom of that page.
I believe that with these, you can achieve your goal to make this phone a camcorder. But why not go all the way to 1.6 stock? Why stop at 1.5? The last download link on the website link That I posted is 1.6 stock. just use that one.
I do however believe that you MUST start flashing from android 1.0 and move down the list. I believe for one to work you have to have the others---at least that is what my experience was.
My recommendation is that you follow this guide completely EVEN IF your phone isn't bricked. That is what I did with my non-bricked G1 and everything works perfectly! No regrets!
Let me know if you need more help.
There are several more websites that I know of that have more tools that will help you recover your phone to stock, it just depends on your circumstances.

Out of curiosity (because your post didnt say fr sure) is your link to 1.5 cupcake and if so is it USA or UK version that just gets dropped in sd card and renamed to update and yada yada yada?
flying fox the reason is because I do not have a huge amount of experience with rooting phones. I rooted two of my cellphones before but it always seems like something goes wrong and I feel that I dont FULLY understand or maybe I just dont trust myself to attempt root and bricking the phone when theres the possibility of doing it simply by dropping it in renaming the file restarting and hitting alt + l and alt + s. I just figure that was the easiest route. If someone had skype and was willing to step me through it now thats a different story .

so i bought my htc one x few days ago from affordablemobile.co.uk on 3 (three) network , as i am kind of FRESH to android phones please help me out in a newbie way , thanks
1)how do i update my phone to 1.28 without using the default way because my carrier hasn't updated it yet
2)some games like gta 3 , cosmos hd ... stop unexpectedly ( without starting up the game ) and i have to mention that a advert comes before showing that massage which can be skipped AND i have to say that i haven't payed for the apps as I'm not sure they would work on the device {and i got them from 4shared }.
3)And to be honest I've read a lot about rooting , custom rom , etc / what shall i do , is it worth going through the trouble to root and ... or its not a big deal i should just leave it
4)should i unlock my phone or leave it on 3 .

Shame on you for not paying for games. We have to support the devs. And when you not pay for games that are suppose to be paid that is stealing. Come on, the games are only a few bucks each.

Bro welcome to android. As per ur issue listen.... Till u get comfortable with android do not think of rooting etc etc. Mk sure u download how to and read carefully how to use it. If u r on stock u cannot destroy the fone remember if smthng goes worse jst reset. Mk sure you take backup of data. Many apps n games do not work with ics give time to devs and whatever u buy try lite version first or read reviews of app..... Greetings to u bro for android u made rite choice

You can get a refund if it doesn't work. You can always email the developer or google around for info on the game you plan to buy to see if it works on your device.
In relation to your original question, you can do a couple of things:
1. You can wait until the update is available in your region/country/carrier
2. Read a lot about rooting. If you follow instructions after a lot of research you will able to root your device and install custom ROMs.
Custom ROMs are far better than stock ROMs as the devs tweak the ROM so it will be faster than the stock. Furthermore, you get great support no matter what custom ROM you choose.
thanks for replying , but u see firstly a game like gta 3 doesn't start which I'm pretty sure it should work ! secondly , i obviously can root device following the instructions but what are the major effect that i would see coz to be honest i don't mind the ui and i enjoy it

if you buy an app and it doesn't work, go back to its page on the market and there's an option to get a refund. However it's only there for fifteen minutes after purchasing.
If your connection meant that the download takes longer than 15 minutes, just send a message to Googles support team for the market; theyre always very helpful.
Ok so ive been threw quite a few threads trying to find out how to do this. So far none of them have worked for me. Im not a total nub i have experience with this and i know a lot of the terminology. I think my problem is that i dont have the drivers for the phone because i tried using super one click and that doom lord app. I was trying to do it manually but the instructions i tried to use had bad links (image that!) OH! its for sprint its running on 2.3.3 at this moment im running the ginger break app witch i know wont work but because i kinda ran out of options SO COULD SOME ONE HELP ME! and please if you send me a link to another fourm please make sure it works the instructions are clear and the links work (my biggest pet peave is when a link doesn't work and your screwed because you don't know were else to get the whatever it is! THANKS!!!!!

hi friends..
i have been using S4 mini duos... its been over a month now.. around 40days now...
i experience an occcasional lag , everywhere... in menu, watching videos, playing heavy/light game.. although lag is occasional.. but it bothers as some other devices with less specs doesnot show lag in these light tasks!!
I read various posts.. but did not come to any solid result..
