I just installed the Kingdom Rewind Sense 3.0 Rom which is extremely stable. However it says 4G for the Data icon. Does anyone know where I can find the 3G icon that comes standard on the Droid Incredible 2? It looks alot different than most of the other phones data icons. Thanks

Download one of the Incredible 2 roms and go to /system/framework/framework-res.apk..All the images you need are buried in that apk
Nope. The correct one is in SystemUI.apk. I can make you a mod if you upload ur systemui.apk. I'll give you the new one.
But would i flash the whole task bar or just the 3G icon. If so, how would I extract just the 3G icon and it would it be a zip or .apk file?
How do I do that?

Once I have that app then what do I look for?
Part 1
1. Download this zip: http://www.mediafire.com/?4cwpdod5ycxq5fb on your computer
2. Unzip it
3. Copy files to your SD card
Part 2
1. Download NinjaMorph
2. Select New project>system>app>systemui.apk
3. Let it do its thing
4. Go into res>drawable-hdpi
5. Find all the files that have the old 3g icon, and replace them with the ones in my zip. All the ones you need are in the zip. So, in other words just find the files with the same file name as the ones in the zip. Tap on the file you want to replace and select the file with the same filename that came from my zip.
6. Go back to main menu of NM.
7. Click Finish project, select systemui.apk then yes, then no, then no
8. Hot Restart
Hope this helped feel free to ask any questions.
Looks like nyterage made you a flashable in your other thread, but oh well.

Nice write-up, sorry OP I was at work so I couldn't answer your question in full.
Is there a way to find an icon from another ROM and use it instead? Where would it be located in the system files?

I'm trying to remove some transitions from a rom ZIP and perhaps replace them with some taken out of another. Does anyone know where they are located in the .ZIP or some other way to remove/replace them? A little help would be greatly appreciated.

Use 7zip. You need to pull the framework-res.apk from the phone and put it on your computer. Open with 7zip. You'll see a folder called 'res'. Open it. The first folder you see is then 'anim'. That folder contains your animations/transitions. So you would take the animations folder you want, and copy them to the anim folder in your framework-res.apk (replacing the existing). Then push your framework-res.apk to /system/app . That should give you your new animations. That's how I do it, and Myn posted up on how to do that in his thread, teaching us how to do that. Cool.

Or you can do it with astro file manager. Just copy the apk and take it out of a zip and swap the files. Then copy the updated apk where it would go in the zip.

Thanks alot guys I really appreciate it. I'm wondering if I use winrar can I just insert the transitions over the old ones the completely reflash the rom?
Edit: Ok if have found the framework-res.apk but I'm not exactly sure how to open it and look "inside" I'm using Winrar I'm thinking this is the same as 7zip for the purposes of searching through the zip but I'm not seeing compatibility with the .apk.

I can't say, because I don't use winrar. However, I know it works with 7zip, I change animations all the time. I can never decide if I like the flip or the fold animations. Anyways, try 7zip, I don't have a download link, but Google should take care of ya. 7zip allows you to open the .apk, so you can navigate to the 'res' folder, and then find the 'anim' folder. Good luck.
Yeah it worked great thanks. Stupid amon was giving me problems at first about it being signed but I just turned off verification. Btw how do you go about signing something?
Hi everyone,
I'm having a few questions regarding the theming of framework-res.apk on Android Revolution (No-Sense/Sense)..
After I pull the .apk, and decompile it, I edit the images so that the .9.png files stay intact. Then after that I compile the entire .apk and use WinRar to only push the images to the origional framework-res.apk..
But everytime I flash it I get bootloops and it won't boot into Android, any idea what I do wrong in the proces?
Thanks in advance!
if your using apk manager when you recompile the framework-res.apk it will ask you if its system app click yes then it will ask if you want to keep signature also click yes then you will have to delete the icons you changed in the keep folder then press enter in cmd window
it will compile and be called unsignedframework-res.apk rename to framework-.apk then open the rom using winrar (DO NOT EXTRACT) then just drag and drop the new framework-res.apk into the framework folder click ok let it do its thing then close winrar drop it on sd card and flash

Or do what i do, make a copy of the zip file then extract the files you want to view, put them in a folder, then the icons you wanna swap put straight into the orig zip folder in there place, this method works for me fine & without any bootloops

I find it much easyer this way. Can i ask you a question if you know abit about framework modding can you see were i have gone wrong here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195549
I can live with it but i would rather change it to a light gray or a different color? Any help would be very nice & not had a reply about this yet? Can you help?
i had the same issue and i found it easier to update the old framework and overwrite existing files. once you have completed compiling your new framework APK extract the contents and copy into the old framework... and that seems to work fine
Hi everyone
is this possible zip file convert to apk?
its very important cause i try to instal any zip file but my rom is not rooted!!
please if this possible tell me
Thanks
change file from zip to apk
to change file type from zip to apk on windows 7
1- open computer in start menu
2- press alt
3- select tools and choose folder options
4- go to view and uncheck hide extentions for known file types
5- finally go to the file you want to change and change its name (ex: .apk)
It depends if you downloaded a file which was a zip file but was packed as an apk then yes changing the extension of .zip to .apk would be fine if you know what I mean.

There is an application known as Zip2apk v1.0 that you can use to convert your zip to apk. unlike all other replies here where you have to interfere with your system settings, zip2apk v1.0 is a portable program built to convert zip to apks and does not alter system settings. link: f1compsolutions.kbo.co.ke/Zip2apk

No. Android binaries are located in a apk, you just can't turn a mod into a apk, the only way to build an apk is from Android SDK. Its not possible.
I recently made an android game, just for fun, and for some reason the site i was on changed it to a zip file instead of an apk file. I used a script to make this app. So it works, but i cant play it on my phone because it is in the zip format and whenever i rename it to .apk on my phone, it doesnt work. Any help wold be appreciated.

Hi,
I'm trying to do something along these lines.
I have a keyboard skin that I want to change it's theme from blue to green. I unpacked it several months ago with EasyApk and attempted this but eventually gave up.
I've done all of the color editing to the .png files but after zipping and changing the ext to apk, it won't install. I get this message... "There was a problem parsing the package."
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nope. The XDA well of good will towards those in need has apparently dried up. Either that or I'm on the do-do list for something.
I haven't gotten responses to any of my last several posts for quite a while now.

I found a work around. I used 7zip in windows and made all of the edits (adding files, removing files, editing contents of files) I needed in the zip file WITHOUT unzipping it (7zip and winrar allow this). Once I did that I changed the extension back to apk and the app installed.
Hope this helps some people.

Not working for me. What editing program are you using for graphics?
For graphics, let's say images. I would work on whatever it is you need to add, outside of the zip, and then just add that file by replacing it with whatever it is you wanted to edit. Do you get what I'm saying?
I used 7zip on windows to do this.
REVIVE!!
Its like this for me, I got an apk of Loco Craft (Android Game) extracted it into a folder with winrar, then I modified a bunch of things in there, then I compressed it to a .rar file with WinRAR, then I renamed it from application.rar to application.apk. then when I sent it to my phone (Acer B1-730, Android 4.4.2) and opened the apk file, it said: "There was a problem parsing the package"! So what do I do? Please!!! I really want to try my new game! And pls help me I am only 9!!!

...download calkulin's stock rom once downloaded go to where you downloaded it on your computer double click the zip file to open it up inside the archive manage open the system folder open the app folder scroll down to touchwiz30launcher.apk...thats the file that controls touchwiz and the file you are replacing...
once you have this open, double click on whatever calk rom you already have downloaded whether it be 2.8.1 regular or deploted...if you dont have the zip downloaded to your computer downloaded again...follow the steps i have before to get to the same location... open the zip goto system goto app scrool down to touchwiz30launcher.apk the files are named the same but calk altered the apk file internally... extract that file
go to where u extracted the file copy it into the stock rom and replace the already existing file once completed close the zip and put the altered stock rom zip on ur phone and flash as usual...
when your phone boots up it is going to look like the old touchwiz with the four buttons on the dock bar... open your app drawer click on the menu button click on view type and change to customizable grid...click on the menu button again and hit edit click on whatever app u want and drag it down to the dock... click on menu button again then view type and change it to what ever you like
if you followed my instructions ur app drawer will be 5x5 and will be able to have 5 buttons on the dock bar in a stock rom

get the apk from your phone (you can navigate to /data/app and copy it to your sd, or you can use "adb pull /data/app/NAMEOFAPK.apk")
add .zip to the end of the file name so it should say NAMEOFAPK.apk.zip
open the zip and navigate to the res folder
look through all of the "drawable" folders and replace any of the icons you want to, making sure you name them the same.
remove the .zip extension
you might have to sign the apk for it to install properly, have a look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=997180
now uninstall the old app from the phone, put the new app back on your phone, install (put it on sd and navigate to it and click install, or use "adb install NAMEOFAPK.apk")
i hope that helps!
