Hello everyone, I will be short : after few months using my DHD I was using the stock headphones with no problems to answer calls, skip tracks in music player etc...
But since a few days the buttons worked randomly and now even the mic does'nt work so I can hear but we can't hear me.
Of course I did'nt let them fall in my coffe or under a car or whatever, and I tried with many custom rom (full wipe etc..)and also with stock, thats why I ask some help from you.
I looked for few hours in many threads, and found that some users had this after they rooted their phones, I found that HD2 users had this too !! when using android in dual boot so Im 99% sure its a software and not hardware fault, unfornatunaly I did'nt tried to use the headphones on another DHD yet...If I can I give you the results.
THX for your help !
There is a app in the market called headset blocker (widget). Check it out and see if it may be of use.

thx I already tried it it does'nt fix the problem.
Little up for this annoying issue...
I have the same problem with my headphones. they suddenly stoped working. however, my problem is a hardware fault, because the headphones of a friends DHD are working as intended.
I think that yours is a hardware fault too.
I have the same problem, and it's NOT a hardware fault. I don't think yours is either.
The reason for this is that I exchanged and got a fresh pair today. They didn't work! As in, I can listen to music, but not pause or change songs, or talk with the mic. Extremely frustrating.
All this just using the default music player etc.
Yea, mine doesnt work too!!!, it happened as soon as i rooted my phone!!!
the buttons randomly work (i.e. sometimes when i press the buttons, it works, and some times it doesnt. The FF you Rewind the track, the Play could FF the track, etc...) its all random!
I posted a thread before and got no replies!, but its something got to do with the rooting i think. Its not H/W for sure!
I've flashed some ROMs too. It's good (and bad ) to know what im not alone!!
Doesnt anyone have a FIX for this?!
I faced this problem even I did not root my Desire HD. The problem seemed to be solved after I rooted it and flashed the rom ARHD 6.1.5. Unfortunately, I face this problem again now when I tried to flash the rom RCMix3D Runny v4.0. I think this is not a problem of HW but SW tho.
anyone have a FIX for this?!
Damaged pin? That's whats wrong with mine

up for issue! somebody fix it?
Hi to all. I have a DHD with ARHD 6.2 Rom installed. This is the issue I 'm having. Anybody has got some idea? :
"with my music player something strange is going on... When I connect my headphones to listen, the music and the player go fine... After a while the songs start skipping on their own and some also go in fast forward...... It seems like if the phone is receiving some inputs like in the headphones with the built in control... I 've seen it happens when lockscreen goes on and goes on also after I unlock it.. I tried changing the values in daemon controller, maybe too low values, but it 's not this the bug....... I 've also tried to change the headphones, didn 't solve it.... I don 't know if it 's hardware because I also tried to move the cable and the jack plugged in the phone but nothing happens...... It happens on it 's own....... I really don 't have noooooooo idea.. :-\
ROM is installed after a full wipe."

Try an app called 'Headset blocker" by Roadkill, its free in the android market and simply blocks any false signals from your headphones. I had the same issue with mine but it kept calling people while I was listening to music!
Install the app and enable headset blocking, or keep the widget on your home screen and turn it on and off as you please.

I read in another thread that the number of rings on the headphones where you plug it in the phone causes the same problems. That is the problem that I have with headphones that I got.
i had a similar problem on the stock gingerbread a few weeks back. all it took to resolve it was a hard reset, fastboot off
Bought a Desire HD I rooted the phone with ace hack kit, whole procedure, downgrade root and all, everything went perfect. Didnt wanna flash a newer radio, cuz everything worked fine with any rom i flashed. I flashed it so far like 50 times, going back and forth with Erebus,Energy,SmartDroid, Android Revolution, Coredroid,etc.. after some weeks first time i plugged in my earphones, and trust me i have 3 pairs, all HTC all working. I get no sound at all on them, except some crackling and loud clicks. It is the same with every rom. When i plug them in,phone detects the earphones and puts out the icon of the phones, but no sound. When i try play music,or especially when i move the volume sliders in settings, the sliders quick freeze bit and give me these loud crackle sounds in the phones. Tried newest radio,no changes. Everything else works perfectly with the phone. if anyone can help with some idea,or at least help me convince that its hardware related and that i cant do a damn thing about it Worst is,i didnt try the phones BEFORE rooting :S cuz i rooted and flashed the phone like one hour after buying it
Thanks in advance for any help or idea,i searched and searched and couldnt find any answer yet
Sounds work ok without headphones?
How does the YouTube app sound?
If it's the same on every rom its probably hardware or a bad flash of something.
It's stupid but try this
Turn up the volume when the headphones are plugged in, work?
Turn off the phone and remove the batt for a few mins. It's important to remove the batt.
Work? Only solutions i can offer

Thanks for the suggestions.
Nothing of the above steps changed anything.
Youtube player works fine, tried it the first time now.
Without headphones everything works perfect.
When i turn up the volume while having headphones plugged in,i get these crackling clicking noises, when i move the sliders in the sound volume settings left right,i get these short freezes and crackle sounds
removing battery ( 5 minutes and more ) also changed nothing
Before every flash i do full wipe of everything, sometimes even 2 times (paranoia hm)
So basically, same thing on 5 different roms, fresh flashed or filled with apps to the max,and even without sd card or sim card
Right we'll start the process....
Can you force close some apps
Twitter
Facebook
Internet
Any others that you can, don't touch the main processes. Just basic apps.
Sound work?
If not, is fast boot on? Try turning that off and do the batt thing again for a few minutes and try again.
i force closed all i could and tried,no change
fastboot is one of the first things i turn off when i flash a new rom
tried both ways now, also again removing battery
but what i realise now,i discovered an artifact i didnt pay attention to (stupid of me)
without headphones sound on the phone speaker works perfect and all
but i realised, when i plug in the headphones,i was so focused on the crackle noises and clicks, that i missed the fact that from the moment when i plug them in (while playing a ringtone or any sound) the phone stops the sound on the speaker for like 1.4 second, and then again you can hear the sound on the phone speaker but very silent when i unplug, the sound gets back to normal loudness crazy
i tried 2 days ago to reverse the root process, with ace hack kit,but the process hanged, thought i bricked it,but brought it back to life everything else works perfect perfect, only this thing not
well, regardless of fixing this or not,i keep this beast, its an amazing device, and cant afford any servicing here, will be just sad not to be able to listen to music and play games enjoying on headphones i still hope its some software related business, and that i eventually find whats wrong
Not really any further information anywhere, I could only find
http://www.htcdesireforum.com/htc-desire-troubleshooting/headphonejack-problem/
Some solutions say to plug headphones in and turn off phone, remove the batt and then boot.
Other than that, you don't seem to be alone! Might be a software problem with the specific hardware so could be worth posting feedback in the dev thread as only a minority of users are affected.
I think it must be something in the original downgrade that it didn't quite like.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! After suffering with no speaker sound and no phone ringing, relying solely on headphones or vibrate to know a call was coming or an alarm was ringing, I found your post and tried it.
As you can see by my delight ... IT WORKED! :highfive:
Thanks again :victory:
Ok, that's weird.
Hi All.
I have problem with any headphones, stock from htc, creative etc. When i'm using internet via wifi in left ear i have some quiet noise. Od wifi is turned off everything is fine. I have stock 2.3.3. Someone could check this at own Desire? Any ideas to fix this problem? Thx.
is your headphone working fine with other devices with wifi? (another phone etc)
Yes, and i tested 4 headphones with my Desire, always little noises in left ear.
The same problem here with my desire stock rom 2.3
might be something wrong in hardware. Have you flashed any custom from yet?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Hi, thx for reply. No, didn't flashed, always stock 2.3.3
What rom do You have? Could You test this problem on your Desire?
I've found this on all ROMS I've tried; LeeDroid, MildWild, the various ICS builds (CM9/Sandvold/MIUI-AU) and stock Sense. I also find that I get a very slight popping noise.
To test - in a silent room, play a music track, but turn media volume right down. Pause, and wait for the audio to deactivate; you'll hear the slight hiss stop. Press play, and it'll hiss, then start regular little clicks/ticks/pops.
Happens on all headphones that I've tried, obviously the more sound insulating, the more annoying it is. It's not a problem 90% of the time, but if I'm listening to classical music (most of the time) and there's a pause or a particularly quiet passage, then I can hear it. A disappointment, having come from an iPhone which is just invisible as a music player. Oh well, the Desire has other benefits...
Hi there! I have very unusuall problem with my SGW. I've realised that volume output drastically decreased. I've checked different roms, used different pairs of earphones etc. but the problem hasn't gone. And my friend also stated the same thought about my phone. I wonder what my be the problem. Help would be very appreciated.
Greetings, Rad.
Could anyone actually help me please?
Sometimes the quality of the file you're playing affects the volume output. I dont have any issues until I downloaded a music file, played it and with volume maxed, its still plays with low volume. I realized it has poor quality audio.
You can try this though http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674343. Hope it helps.
