I just got the genuine samsung MHL adapter for my Galaxy s2. The touch is not working properly when i connect it to hdmi cable.
It showing the mobile stuff on my TV but the touch is really lagging and i am hardly able to use my phone when connected to hdmi cable. Is there any specific hdmi cable required to make it working or there is some setting i can adjust to make it workin?

I am interested in hooking up my GN to a monitor along with a mouse and keyboard. I just got bored and thought it would be fun to use my phone as a sort of computer.
I have made my own OTG USB cable and have hooked up everything separately and have full functionality of everything individually. The problem lies in the fact that video out requires a MHL HDMI adaptor... which occupies the USB plug on the phone, my only thought has been to use a USB hub as I don't have a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
Before I go tearing up my MHL HDMI adaptor, does anyone know if it is possible to plug the MHL adaptor into the USB hub and have it work? Are there some issues with power that I haven't even considered, since the MHL adaptor has to have its own power and even supplies the phone with electricity when connected?
Its only a $10 part, so I am going to do it if I don't get a solid answer here and will report back if it works.
Thanks
Sorry, no it won't work. When the MHL is plugged in, the USB pins are reconfigured to do the video, USB data can't work simultaneously. The best way is to get bluetooth keyboard and mouse and use the MHL adapter for the video.
Hello!
I am currently dreaming for 1 accessory which is capable of doing many things without using that much cables etc.
Do you know if there is an all in one accessory or any way to do USB host of mouse AND keyboard, microusb to recharge the phone and a MHL exit?
I just tried with a multi-usb hub and the usb host of the galaxy s3 was capable to give power to:
- my razer blackwidow ultimate (with leds shut down)
- my mouse
- an external audio board
- a lil electric oven.
And everything was smooth.
Now my idea would be to use the MHL to connect the phone to the TV, the keyboard and the mouse to the phone, whilst recharging.
I'm asking because I don't have a bluetooth mouse/keyboard since I've always been an hardcore gamer
I thought of this one:
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/mobile-fun-connection-kit-for-samsung-galaxy-s3-p35462.htm
But I'm not sure that the mhl would work with that microusb port, and even if it works I loose the opportunity of using the host function :/
Any idea?
To my knowledge MHL and usb OTG can not be used simultaneously, however you can buy the wireless AllShare Cast Dongle to transmit video wirelessly and output over hdmi and use the usb OTG cable to connect to the usb hub (preferably externaly powered, as in the hub has its own power supply) and connect to it what you need. But , correct me if i'm wrong, you still won't be able to charge your phone while using usb OTG.

Well that destroys my hopes
Actually the easiest way seems to use bluetooth mouse/keyboard and a mhl adapter which also recharges the phone.. Meh
Anyone else with some ideas?
MHL and USB Hosting CAN be used simultaneously on the Galaxy S III. That is why Samsung changed the pin layout from 5 to 11. That is why the Galaxy S II MHL Cables won't work with the S III.
Samsung Galaxy S® III uses an 11-pin micro USB input, which allows it to support MHL output and USB on-the-go input simultaneously – an improvement over 5-pin capability

I've been looking for a all in one cable for my american Galaxy S III for a while and the one you linked is the best match I've found so far.
Here is a link to a post I wrote about it on the U.S. Galaxy S III forums. I'm thinking they added this functionality for a future desktop mode.

Did you make any progress?
I'm looking forward into this.
I'm receiving my official mhl adapter in 3-4 days
I have both a genuine Samsung MHL adapter and the S2 mhl adapter with the 5pin to 11pin converter and I've seen both of these work on other phones.
However, I can't get my video out working on my S3. Both of them connect and bring up active charge and indicate onscreen that "HDMI cable connected". So I know the adapter and cable is being detected but no signal on HDTV. The HDMI cable is good as is TV and monitor I tested on and of course proper input is selected.
Now as far as I remember as soon as it is plugged in the video should automatically show up on HDTV screen...correct? No TV out setting has to be turned on as in past Galaxy correct?
Fyi..I have multiple S3's but currently only have one on hand...its a 747m with KyanROM on it... so not stock..it is rooted and has KT747 9-18 kernel as well.
I have a feeling its the rom(and I could easily test this if I had other phones but don't for a while).
So if both MHL adapters are confirmed working and both the HDMI cable and TV are working AND even the phone states that HDMI cable connected, then what is the issue with no video display?

Do you have the power plugged in? That is, a AC/DC charger to micro-USB cable plugged in to the micro-USB port on the adapter.
Should work automatically
I just received the Min-Suit 11-pin adapter sold on Amazon. Mine switches on automatically as soon as I plug in the adapter. Of course, to make it work, you should first plug a charging cable into the USB micro port on the adapter and you should connect an HDMI cable to the tv. Also, make sure you're selected the correct HDMI input on the tv. If you do all of that, the picture and sound should start up as soon as you plug in the cable.
Unless it was a mistake, your OP says you have s2 adapter. From my understanding, the pins are different on the s3 and will not work with the older adapters.
If you read closer Woody you will see that he says that he uses an old MHL adapter, WITH the 5 to 11 pin adapter
That should work. But I think your ROM is the guilty one...

Dont give up yet, I thought I had the same problem, but my ballistic case was preventing the MHL adapter from going all the way in. I took the phone out of the case and the adapter clicked in. Worked great on the TV, but best of all, worked in the truck via a down converter. Had to play with it to get in deep enough (kind of phone foreplay i guess:laugh to work, but it does.

yeah, u can use micro usb to hdmi adapters or use samsung allshare cast dongle which does this job wireless.
3 options:
Samsung MHL adapter.
you plug your charger and an HDMI cable into the adapter, adapter goes into your micro usb port.
pros: small, cheap.
cons: can't use external storage, doesn't fit with many cases/covers, only works with adapters made specifically for the S3/4 and note 2(generic MHL adapters have less pins).
smart dock.
works the same as the MHL adapter but has some extra functions.
pros: comes with its own charger, adds 3 USB ports for mouse, keyboard, and USB storage.
cons: desktop mode(plug in a mouse, phone screen turns off) is slow, without a mouse your phone is stuck in portrait for rotating apps, expensive.
allshare cast dongle.
little box that connects to your TV through HDMI and comes with its own power cable+wall plug.
you can keep the box plugged in, connects like a Bluetooth headset but using the allshare cast menu(Wi-Fi) instead of Bluetooth.
pros: wireless, otg cable, charger, and data cable can still be connected.
cons: compression artifacts show while playing heavy games or when playing unsupported video files(software decoding), tricky to get to work when you have cwm installed, even with Wi-Fi disabled your phone may randomly connect to your network causing the allshare connection to be reset, expensive.
best choice would probably be an MHL adapter.
allshare cast can be interesting if you have other recent Samsung galaxy devices(camera, s3/4, note 10.1/8)
smart dock can be interesting if you want to use your phone as a desktop computer.
