custom kernels with SBC for the gingerbread build? Just asking cause I really miss my SBC and Full HDMI out.
EDIT: nevermind I found out that we havent gotten any code released yet!
Yeah, ask HTC when they're going to support the Android open Source Policy and start releasing source codes....
EVO 4G kernel source for GB has not been released yet...

Looks like the official release was the 6th so it should be released today d'oh!!!
Then again, they had to fix that update with the 4.24 update which was June 20th.

the 4.24 was more of a bug fix...not a huge overhaul like the GB OTA (4.22) was (locked bootloader, updated OS, new kernel, etc.)
if HTC is counting 30 days from 6/20 I'll be pissed!!!

Couple this with the fact that a customer service rep said HTC are releasing FroYo on the 23rd of June it's seeming more and more likely that we will be seeing FroYo on the 23rd of June.

I don't follow your logic. This is the release of a new handset from Motorola, it's not a milestone in Froyo releases and certainly doesn't dictate (at least in the short term) what HTC will or will not do.
There are pretty decent froyo roms out there

Plus I would rather have a full working phone with FroYo after waiting for HTC than a custom rom with bits working here and there and having to press F5 on the roms thread every minute of the day in hope that something else has been fixed. Don't get me wrong, I am used to it with the HD2 and eventually, custom roms can be pretty awesome, I just feel that time is not right now with the desire.. I'm holding out on HTC for now

Notice that Google and Adobe are announcing the next generation of the Moto Droid with FroYo.
Now what we can understand from this is that...
Motorola are releasing the successor to the Droid with FroYo
Adobe are releasing Flash 10.1 Final
Google are more than likely going to start proper OTA updates on the Nexus One
All of these are going to occur on the 23rd of June. Doesn't it seem a bit of an odd coincedence that a few weeks back we heard unconfirmed reports from HTC customer service that a FroYo release was to come on the 23rd of June?
It seems far too perfectly in sync to be a coincedence. Google are trying to stop device fragmentation right? Doesn't having its biggest hardware makers Motorola and HTC releasing FroYo on their devices along with Flash 10.1 being released on the same day sound like a start to defragmentation?
However, HTC is not mention once in the whole story, I would like to see it, but I think Honduras have a better chance of winning the world cup

There is some logic in this indeed.
It would be cool: a global Froyo launch over multiple devices. Better then slowly updating each device over a 6-12 month period.
The Android Army is marching in on the 23rd! One day before the iPhone 4 is released. Sounds typical Google.
I think there is straw clutching too.
HTC have nothing confirmed, for all we know the announcement by Motorolla is that the new Droid handsets will run Froyo and thats all. And a release date for handsets.

And has nothing in history ever changed? There is a first time for everything, including HTC bringing an update fast. If you are looking at the Hero: that was a totally different situation IMO. Froyo is much needed for the Desire while eclair for the Hero was not so big. Flash wants to be on as much possible devies as fast as possible. Google wants a big Froyo launch, which will have a much bigger impact than slow, unnoticed Froyo updates.
I am not sure of anything, bit I do think that the '23rd rumor' is possible. We will see.

I know this is never ending lol.. when froyo is released people will probably be asking when "Pancake" is gonna be released lol..
I doubt anyone here would be able to tell for sure when sprint will release a froyo rom. There are already froyo roms in the dev section. It's more likely we get a finished froyo rom from the xda community before sprint even announces theirs.

The next release will start with a "G." I believe it's gingerbread. They go in alphabetical order.
Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, etc.

Actually Froyo will be releaded for the Evo on July. The thread was lost some time ago. But apparently its legit.
Nice.. i hope it is in july.., Gingerbread.. lol thats awesome

This is just a rumor, but Phandroid has a rumor that says 2.3 could be unvieled as early as today (12/6). I don't think it'll happen, but I have my fingers crossed.
I know Moto Droids running vanilla Android and the Nexus 1 always get updates first because they're running vanilla Android. We're running Vanilla Android, so maybe we'll get to be apart of the "hahahaha, we got it before you did, sucker Sense/Motoblur/Touchwiz users!" group?

That statement is absurd. The N1 has only had ONE UPDATE!!! At least only one MAJOR update... it shipped with 2.1, it is currently 2.2 (2.2.1 is minor, hardly counts.)

That's only half of the statement, friend. The point I was trying to make was that the phones with vanilla android get the updates sooner than all the other UIs. Since we run vanilla android like the nexus 1 and the moto droids do, we should be getting 2.3 the same time they do which, historically, has been far sooner than everyone else.

G2 is not pure Google/Stock/Vanilla/Virgin whatever you want to call it.
While yes, the G2 is the closest thing to Vanilla FroYo available (aside from the Nexus Series of course, which is 100% stock), it isn't entirely pure. There is another thread pertaining to this, anyways the guesstimate is that we will get it a month or two after the Nexus S is released, which is December 16th in the United States.
BTW, I love my G2, I think it's the sickest phone available right now, but at the same time, it isn't fully stock. Read Cyanogen's blog about it.
It's going to take some time to get it just right for the G2. In any event, I can't wait!
I'm guessing Feb. 2011, although after having played with the SDK's Emulator a bit, there aren't any DRASTIC changes in Gingerbread, which means less dev. work, so who knows, maybe even sooner! Definitely after X-mas.

Oh I know we're not running 100% Vanilla, but we are running it without a 3rd party UI put over top so I'm sure we'll get it much sooner than Sense, Motoblur and Touchwiz phones do.
I think it'll be sooner than February (my money is on a January release, as the Nexus S is being released with 2.3, so 2.3's release will be the day the S comes out). It shouldn't take that long to toss together 2.3-compatible versions of the apps that makes ours different from a 100% pure device. Of course, it's all up to Tmo in the end.
I'm waiting until 2.3 update before I root. I was waiting for CM 6 stable but with 2.3 just around the corner, it's worth waiting for. I'd like to see what it's like before I go rooting around in my phone. Pun squarely intended.

The update seems still confirmed for the Q2 (April, May, June)
So now we are on june..Why don't bet on the release DAY?

last weekend of june is my guess - 26th
if I remember the Froyo it was on a sunday that it started flooding out, and that's probably the last point of Q2 that they have left.
FroYo for the Desire came out in August last year as I was in the US when it was released so I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see 2.3 until then

Google says June 2010 but can't find an exact date. Baring in mind the Nexus One/Desire were flagship devices back then it was obvious they'd get the update first. This time the delay might be longer so I reckon Q3 2011
Desire got 2.2 same time as EVO 4G. Evo just got 2.3 -> Desire 10th...

Shouldn't the M-series be released monthly ? We're already in the 8th day of the second month and the M2 is not released yet.. Any news about it ?
cm is the most supported, and oldest dev group out for android. if they haven't delivered on a promised M release yet, i'm sure that there is good reason for it. i know i'd rather wait an extra week, then to have a pushed through buggy rom.

actually the rule is about stable releases, what's the point of a monthly release if it can't be delivered monthly ?
Please realize that the reason for this thread is because I respect the CM ROM and team a lot. It's not nagging, it was simply to ask if there were any news about it and I happened to miss it. Now I know there is no public news about the M2 ROM.

This...otherwise CM would just be pulling a page out of Apples book. Releasing something defective / sub-par just to keep a deadline. Cyanogen is better than that. Come on now
This IS nagging and hopefully they just did away with M releases. The last one was loaded with bugs that weren't in the previous nightly.
Yep, I get what you're saying. You just want to know why they haven't released it.
It's not really a big deal to me though, because so far, every nightly has been as stable, if not more, than stock on my device.
