Explain to me - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Why S-Off was achieved a few weeks ago, I get that. But why is there no guide yet and there's only a few that have the option to even by rooted.
Yet there's ROM's available, but for who? You can't install them unless your root.
This is my First HTC phone since the G1, coming from a Galaxy S Vibrant where root was simple once click and ROM's were by the hundreds this is just rather confusing as hell.
I'm not impatient, and I hope I don't sound like it, I just don't understand how these things exist, but there's no guide or explanation of how to actually achieve root and how there's a few people who are but so many of us on here are sitting without.

there was a beta program to get root with a high chance of bricking your phone, so only a few people were lucky enough to have root. Everyone else has to wait for a stable release, but by all means you can get root you just have to buy the XTC clip. If you want it that badly you should fork out the money or wait for the free option.

That was a better explanation other than "just wait".
I thank you. It's just a little frustrating seeing ROMs POP up but half the people on here can't use them. So. Again, thank you.

Stable s-off phone safe has not been achieved via software. There is the xtc clip if you are willing to fork out some money.

What part of AlphaRevX is GPL? As far as I know it only uses a GPL library. Distributing a closed source tool which uses GPL libraries is not a violation of the GPL.

Technically, yes, it does have root. There are instructions for rooting your device available right now. What is not yet available, but will be soon, is a software method of unlock.

Where is your root for gb?

I'm from the epic forums but I'm awaiting this newest version of root so I can use it on someones phone. You guys have had gb for a few weeks now and still don't have a gb root method. Did htc make it a lot harder for you guys with this update to find an exploit? We don't even have gb and already have root for it.
still no root..i think they're working on it...

The Evo's GB was rooted before it was formally released, too. Problem is, if you took the official OTA there's no root exploit found yet.

That's what I'm saying you don't have official root for gb you have a layover cuz the devs add it to it. With the epic you can take the stock gb leaks and root it and there are also the pre rooted roms too. @ haus figures htc would pull that crap.

Look guys, you are so dumb.
Anyone would do everything for enough money, if you give reward of 1000$ to developer who make S-OFF, developers would hurry with trying to S-OFF to take money. Now, developers are not even trying, because they know it is hard, and because they know none respects their work here! Yes, that is true, some extraordinary devs left XDA because of people like YOU!
You all just know to talk like children, DO something for that S-OFF, or you will never get it. I just want to make progress of any way, that is all.
Think about it, use your brain.
I agree that Dev's should be greatly rewarded for their work, especially something as tricky as S-Off.
I also agree that alot of the Dev's we need around here, for their expertise and knowledge, have left because of stupid immature ungrateful users but offering them money isn't the answer.
Also: Some of the developers left because of all that talk about bounty...

its a way to encourage them to correct htc mistake :good:
For someone to work out how to s-off the HOX its going to need certain files and / or a method to be leaked. We know its possible but someone is keeping it close to their chest. All this talk of bounty and donations is BS. Would anyone here be willing to risk bricking their HOX as a guinea pig in the strive to achieve s-off ? Realisticly until something leaks thats potentialy what could happen. Patience is a virtue, when its possible we will know..........

Rooting legalization

http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2012/10/27/new-rules-let-jailbreak-phones-but-not-tablets/
In short, on January 2013 rooting is legalized (which I thought already was.....) But unlocking yourself will be against the law.

Honestly, Legal or not, People are going to do it anyway. We pay for the device. We break it its our fault.. They don't have to warrenty anything we screw up. But how are they really gonna stop it? lol Besides, what's the fun of a stock device?

Oh I completely agree, I just figured if anyone is thinking of going to another company may want to know about the unlocking part
This isn't that big of news as sprint doesn't care if you have a rooted phone or not. Half their employees are rooted lol

I should have titled it self unlocking not legal, that was the point.
I had heard months ago from a apple case that deemed jail breaking legal when they tried suing someone for it.
Yeah...I'm not quite sure how the hell they're going to enforce a "no rooting" law
and wow, a tablet is a handheld gaming device? So my phone, which can play the same things as a tablet, isn't a gaming device?
It seems to be targeting apple products. And I don't see how this could apply to android phones, since they can't really say what we can or can't do to the operating system seeing as it is open source. Flashing it for use on a different carrier is different compared to flashing roms.
I just skimmed through the whole pdf and it doesn't look like they ever mention android specifically being effected, and the whole jailbreak/rooting thing seems to mostly target apple products.

jailbreaking, aka rooting, involves taking full control of a device

really fox, really?
Yes, it applies to unlocking a phone from your carrier for use on another. Not against rooting the phone...

IMO, this crap is going to get a lot worse before long so be ready for it. Apple is in bed with the government already with the fact their the GPS stays on like a day after it shuts down, and the iphone video camera killer that law enforcement has now. As long as they keep working together they will keep challenging privacy laws until they get what they want.

Actually there's a source fed videos from months ago about a college student survey that proved fox news is so edited by republican agenda that people learn more from osmosis then watching anything from fox news.

That might be the most useful post ever. Because you said it, it must be true...
Half your posts are trolling, why don't you do something useful with your time?
