[Q] what's my radio? Is anything wrong with my daemon? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
1. I would like to know what is the terminal comando to check what's my radio version.
2. I did set my processor frequency on daemon to max 599040 ondemand when wake, but in the Quadrant Standard I keep getting scores over 1900. Is there anything wrong? Why is it not in 800, like when I used setCPU?
I'm running Virtuous unity 1.27
Sent from the future using grandpa's old Desire HD

To check your radio :
- Turn off your phone
- Press and hold the Volume down key
- Turn on your phone
You will see the boot menu , the radio version is listed there .

Another way is to go to Settings --> About Phone
The Baseband version is your radio version

Inability to set CPU freq on Hero

The hero seems to ignore changed CPU speed or simply resetting it to default value immediately. At least it does on my Modaco and also on my coworkers HTC Magic running Hero-based ROMs.
Does anyone know why? Is it in the custom ROM, the kernel or some HTC modification to the android build?
I would like to see if you could save some batterylife by lowering CPU Max while screen is off and see how low you can go and still use Spotify and other apps without issues.
1. how do you set cpu frequency?
2. with the program set-cpu (or something like that) it is at the moment not possible..
I'm aware that it is not possible hence my question if anyone knows why so we can try to find a solution. Same goes for brightness which also resets immediately. Is this kernel, modified android or what?

I have made a user.conf file that runs hero at full and addd to my roms, Ithink modaco has a user.conf file also
you might want to download setspu! work like a charm!

not the kernel its in the build.prop for screen settings, also the user.conf plays a big roll!

I've tried both Overclocker Widget and SetCPU and both give same results. They seem to be able to change the settings but they are immediately reset to default values.
Using SetCPU if i change max to something like 480 and set it it looks like it works but hitting refresh it shows that CPU is running at 528 and that max setting is still 528. Issue was the same with Modaco V2.1 and DDR V2.0 and also on a coworkers HTC Magic running some Hero-based ROM (possibly based on Modaco he was not sure)
Also if you try to change the screen brightness using any tool makes the screen change brightness for a moment and then autosets to whatever value the Hero seems to think is appropriate (light sensor?)
Could you try using SetCPU to lower the CPU max and hit refresh to verify it has not been reset to 528?
user.conf location
Where to I have to put the user.conf in the filesystem on a rooted Hero with stock ROM ?
Thanks,
Guys,
I am using setcpu and able to set my max cpu to 528 and min to 480. I am running MCR 2.8 ...

528 Max and 480 Min is default on the Hero. The question is if you can set it LOWER to save battery like if you have apps running that won't let it go to sleep.
hi drizzy could you tell me how to make a user.conf file to make hero run at full 528 speed all the time and how to place it onto my hero.
thankyou

Check out the rooting guides, you should be able to type it pretty much as it says (starting with "echo") on one line and that should do it once you're at the root shell (#)

would you be so kind to share it with us? i have no idea how it should look like, and there is not really information about it on the devs homepage... i would appreciate it.
If you recompile a kernel with "performance" governor as default, you'll run at full all the time.

1. FRF85B is the latest release of FroYo, AOSP = Android Open Source Project, OCUV = Over Clocked, Under Volted
2. No, it won't until we get a radio update from HTC
3. Mostly, a few things that can't be sorted until the new radio from HTC but they're 99% running

The radio is used to allow the OS to access the hardware. The current radio doesn't support 720p video
its not the radio as you think it is . they are not talking about fm-radio. radio is the firmware of desire.
Would be more understandable if firmware word was used instead of radio
But using the term 'firmware' would be incorrect.

consider the radio more of a driver, it tells the operating system how to correctly configure and run the hardware

Yeah but to me that sounds like something a firmware would do, when or where did the radio word appear to apply to controlling hardware?
Firmware is the rom or software version, radio is the baseband.

Connection problem....

Hi anyone can help with my problem?my problem is my connection always down everytime I turnoff the screen, anyone's has the same problem with me?when I use winmo,I have no problem with my connection. Now I was flash android (cyanogenRLS11 nand installation, because I really love Android) on my tytn..before flashing on nand I use haret...I was use eclaire, and froyo, but I still have the same problem..how to solve this?
Sory for my bad English and thanks in advance..

Apn connection,my connection alway down when i turnoff screen..
can you help me to solve my problem..?

What radio are you using? There are a few that have problems with android builds. I would suggest trying 1.65 or 1.70 if you don't already have one of the two.
I don't know for sure the radio could cause the issue you are having but it's worth a shot.
Sounds to me like a setting thats set. There is a setting to turn off the connection when the phone goes to sleep.
Thank for all who solving my problem, now i use galaxy s rom,and all work great,my problem has solve,i follow obso advice,i use 1.65 radio, and i want to try use 1.71 radio and another Rom n will give feedback soon
Thanx all....

If you found a radio that works stick with it. I installed 12 different radios before I found one that worked proper on my phone.
I agree with u aceoyame, now i use galaxy s rom with 1.71 radio, when i try using 1.65 radio i cannot connect with apn data, but when i use polymod 2.1g,there is no problem with these radio..
So i think rom must match with the radio...correct me if i wrong..
Sent from my Full Android on Kaiser using XDA App
I think its more or less that those older roms like myns and polymod just have a buggy phone app. With many different froyo builds, including fresh froyo and CM I haven't had to change my radio. I haven't tried eclair in a long time, let alone donut.

[Q] Kezra Value Pack V1.1 Samsung keypad and Restart-loop

Just flashed the latest (as I understand) ROM. Samsung keypad is back (in version V4 it was removed) but I can't use it.
Added languages via Settings -> Languages and keyboard -> Samsung keypad -> Input languages. Checked English, Russian, Latvian. When writting sms, I can switch between input languages, but letters don't change. So no matter what input language you choose, you can write english.
Another sad thing is restart-loop. When phone stays idle for some time, its restarts by itself and goes into restart-loop. Only thing is to flash ROM again.
Any ideas of fixes?
KP has quit ROM cooking, i've used this rom till a month ago, this rare bug is unsolvable now, for example i hadn't this one.
Try some more up-to-date roms, for example Mutant ROM, i use it for several weeks and enjoy it!
Other hand why are you so stuck with samsung keypad? why aren't you using swype for example? Mutant ROM + Swype serve me well for russian\english combo.
Everyone of us can thank KP for his work for SGW community, but his own roms are no more actual today, they've brought much power to modern SGW works.
you could use swiftkey 3.........its a really good keyboard
I've been using K. Rom VPack V1.1 (the one with O.C. kernel capabilities) for quite long (i'm still using it), it's a very very fast/smooth and battery efficient ROM. I underclock Cpu to 1.2 MHz and could use phone for 3-4 (or 5!) days without charging.
I had also same issues with keyboard and restart thing.
So,
1)The samsung keyboard issue has already been solved (check thread for Kezra VPack V1.1)
The problem was that T9DB folder was missing from Rom, so copy from stock ROM T9DB folder and put it in /system Kezra's Rom.
Dont forget to check permissions and restart phone.
2) Restart problem.. i suffer same thing (not any more). For possible solution see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773098
Also (if not already) UPDATE your Baseband/Modem Version to XXLM6 at least! Just flashing Kezra's Rom won't update Baseband/Modem!
Good luck!
..
Looks like I've missed something... never updated Baseband/Modem, mine says XXKL3. Haven't noticed that baseband update is required.
Currently I followed dimaka's advice and moved to newer rom... Bagux Project ROM. It runs almost excellent. There are some glitches like Flashlight turns out after 5 seconds, etc, and I was about to start new topic on that, but now... maybe this all is about Baseband update.
Can someone point me to the right direction? I currently have XXKL3 region Europe/Latvia.

I updated Baseband to "i8150XXLM8". Took "Slovakia" from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570726
So far everything is fine. What do you use to underclock Cpu?

You can use Antutu CPU Master along with Antutu Benchmark to rate your phone. They're both free on market.
Set it on 1.2 GHz and post results!
Ok, Antutu results with and without underclock. How are they?

I think most important is Ram and CPU where Kezra's Rom is a winner!!:victory: (you dont have ext.sdcard that's why sdcard results are zero).
Check out and long last battery screenshot (with very light usage though).

CPU Frequency stuck at 1.2 ghz. tried all apps

I am using Samsung galaxy grand stock 4.2.2.
On checking via no frills cpu control I found that the cpu frequency is stuck at 1.2ghz.
it shows
max frequency : 1.2ghz
min frequency : 1.2ghz
I tried changing frequency with no frills cpu control , voltage control , setcpu . But I am unable to change the frequency.
Please give a solution ASAP.
More Details :
1. I was on stock NG3 firmware build.
2. I flashed @k2wl's evolution kernel for stock.
3. I faced bluetooth issues.
4. I flashed stock MK3 firmware.
5. Now I am facing this problem

You were unable to understand me.
I didn't want to overclock.
I wanted to set lower frequency limit.
Check the screenshot to see what I mean.
I tried applying Requested
but Current remains same.

You were trying to underclock, still u need a custom kernek i believe, just try flashing a custom kernel, but the sad part is, there are no great custom kernels for stock 4.2.2.

If thats the case do a trial and error method... If u had updated to the latest version of the ROM, there may be difference. You might had got the different experience in an older version of the ROM. Anyway, you are your own!! I cant provide any info more than this. I did tried the same, and i got similar experience and i tried with a custom kernel, i found the result, and understand that is the only reason i said so.. That was my humbe suggestion, you can take it or leave it!!
helped alot bro thankss
Try rom toolbox..... It forces the system to overclock the cpu......

in 4.1 stock when u selected the battery saving mode it used to under clock the processor to 800mhz but in 4.2 it doesn't under clock in battery saving mode. if u r extremely determined about under clocking the cpu then better switch to a custom rom bro.
After waiting for a looong time , I have concluded that there's no solution apart from custom kernels or roms.
Anyways , thanks to you guys for your support
