I got an epic touch from my parents for Christmas. What is Sprint's return? I want to exchange the epic touch for the superior iPhone.
First off, you're in the wrong forum cause this is the original Samsung Epic forum (not the Epic Touch). Which leads me to believe that you should definitely get the iPhone cause you're not smart enough to run an Android device. Good luck in fruit-land.

Oh wow. First, iPhone is far far far inferior to the epic touch. And this is the epic 4g forum (by the way, buy the newest iPhone and bask in the glory of STILL not having 4g or any sort of customization, asking with an inferior screen, processor, storage and apps) and the people here usually already have the epic 4g. Go over to marketplace (in xda) and post there, the amount of friends I have trying to trade tier iPhones got a galaxy s2 or a epic touch 4g is crazy. I'm sure someone will dump their brand new iPhone on you, simply because it's friggin useless. Superior. Ha. Got a lot to learn about specifications, capability, speed and being up to date. But from your rather unintelligent post I don't believe you are able to use the phone you currently have. better to get the dumbed down version of a smartphone than pestering everyone who owns an Android about how to use your phone.

Still a nice phone with full aosp and lots of custom rom support such as CM9. That being said I am fully happy with the my epic touch. Such a sweet phone. Especially once CM9 gets better.

It will be the first, the Evo 4G LTE still won't be out for another while. The Nexus should be out before then, but like the Nexus did for Verizon, it'll probably come out quietly without the big commercials and announcements.
You mean the phone sprint employees apparently just recieved training materials for?
I bet it hits this month. The EVO LTE will be late May or the first couple of days in June I'd wager.

I'm way to happy with the SGS2.. I think the nexus would be a step back. Cm9 for our device is about there..
Locked bootloaders turned me off with the evo 3d.. I'm holding off on that SGS3...

Maybe this is just me venting but im so tired of people with an evo 3d talkin crap about the gs2. Me and my girlfriend both bought the 3d on launch day and it was ok at first but as soon as i saw the white epic we both dumped the evos. The galaxy screen is bigger and brighter. Way clearer. The battery last twice as long. The phone its self is faster with no lag at all. And to me the main difference is the camera. The camera is 100 times better then that ****ty evo camera. People defend the evo i think bc they have no upgrade but want the gs2 so they live in denial lol. The evo 3d cost as much as the original evo now (49$) and it hasnt even been a year yet. If you have a 3d do yourself a favor....sell it on craigslist then buy your self an epic off craigslist. Mite cost you 200 bucks when said in done. If not please come to grip with the fact the 3d is nowhere near as good as the gs2

i think it's more about getting sympathy and a sense of commuinty from here.
I never had evo 3d.. but could care less about what they say. yea there will always be haters.
Htc has a big following.... I'm not going to say they are similar to apple fans but people that started with Htc and loved it they have stuck with them. Out of all software skins avaliable from device manufactures I must say sence has been the best. Also rooting with that phone and other software stuff has been easier with the HTC evo line of phones.

Where was this easy to root the first 3 months I had that pos 3d everyday was hoping someone had hacked the encrypted boot loader ...you must not remember that huh... I guess it was my imagination that we were odining rooted kernels like the next day on this phone...

That is mostly user error for not reading and thinking that this phone is exactly like their old phone...and I used unrevoked on my 3d like an hour after it was released but from the animosity in your post you must not have read and bricked you're phone ...

It not animosity I'm just making a point.... On my evo I never had to flash 10 kernels, 3 different recoveries and use Odin just to flash 1rom. I am in no way shape or form hating on this phone because this has been the best phone I've ever owned but I'm saying that the evo was waaaaaay more easy to mess with

I have left the Epic 4GT for a Galaxy Note 2. Ever since ICS came out for the E4GT, it just ruined my phones experience. An update I was once so eagerly awaiting, turned out to be a Trojan horse (literally) in a frozen treats disguise.
After enduring countless frustrations (4G not working, crashes, unreliable wifi, horrible battery life, etc, etc, etc...) I left the device. After biting the bullet and paying an early upgrade fee, and selling my old POS E4GT back to Sprint, and all their other fees and bla bla bla, I paid $501.17 to get my new phone. (And that's after I got taken again by Sprint in selling them back my old E4GT for a measly $90)
Honestly, the phone was good until the update, and I suffered for months until I just couldn't bear it. And it sucked because I switched from AT&T after having the iPhone 3G, 3GS, and 4. I was so happy to get my first Android phone, it was such a let down once ICS was pushed to it. The only good thing that came out of owning that peice of ****, was that I met some really cool, and amazing people on this forum that taught me a lot. Honestly, you guys were the ONLY good thing that came out of buying that phone. Aside from that, my phone experience was abysmal.
Now I wish you all luck, and I'll miss you guys. But I'll stop by from time to time to drop in and take a peek. I wish you all well, and hope to see you again in the future.

Good luck bro! Best wishes to you. I have to agree as well, the ICS experience with this device ruined it for me as well. After using ICS on my current Galaxy nexus, i can see what real android is without issue.
Good luck. You probably could have gotten about $100 more if you had sold it on eBay.

No offense to the devs but the roms right now for ics is still the same as the stock ics update just theme and modded but the super elestic scroll still there and well the battery well everyone uses their phone different so not to much tweaks will help. Aosp roms are the only best ones out for the e4gt but to me until JB source is out it isn't going to be a complete rom even though I notice chris and the rest of the crew are doing a great job but like the op I also got tired of waiting and got a note 2 yesterday and I must say its a better huge upgrade I dont regret it at all and this new touchwiz is the **** like I really love it.
Folks that think that the note 2 is not a big upgrade I disagree dont knock it till you try it cuz I think its a big upgrade and battery life is omfg amazing I got the phone with about 56% life on it and this is what I finished with so imagine at full charge .

I had a pretty good experience with my Spring Galaxy S2 until recently. I never had any major issues on ICS except for bad battery life. When I needed my phone the most, during Hurricane Sandy, my battery began to swell and my phone would randomly turn off. I fixed this by buying a new battery but a few days later my power button crapped out. This phone was great for the first year but I think it's also time for me to jump ship to the Galaxy Note 2.
Now with that said, the Note 2 does look awesome. At least when I'm eligible for an upgrade, the Note 4 will be even cooler.

Should have just flashed back to a el29 based from like calks or phantoms 4.1 and held out for the jb update. That's what I am doing.... really my only option less I wanna pay more for a service with data caps.

I had the best battery life after the second OTA update on unrooted stock FH13. After I rooted my phone I couldn't find any ROM that had nearly as good of battery life. It used to last more than 60 hours on FH13 with very light use before I rooted it. Now I can only get around 50 hours on CM9 and at most 40 hours on JB ROMs, still on very light use. Not too bad I guess and at least I could modify a bunch of stuff when it's rooted.
yea Blazer or caulk was the Best Rom for Me On the e4gt IMHO. But me I Just Wanted Something New But to me The Way The e4Gt is going it Isn't Worth Staying on it for 2 years.

It is cooler and better because theres no huge development community yet but if you look at it that phone really is too perfect unless you need root for small little things. I also still follow this community since I past this phone to my lil brother and I have to do everything for him when it comes to flashing and such but thats my only reason if not I'll be busy not following no community for the meantime and just enjoy the hell out of my note 2 since I really dont need much tweaks at all.

I feel you on this and you should always consider the right move for yourself but some folks would be like meh e4gt to the note 2 really isn't worth it they rather wait but to me its worth it depending on the situation I have responsibility but heck when the s4 comes out and I want it ill just sell my note and put the differences its that easy for some folks and well it aint for others and those are the ones that would say meh its not worth upgrading from the e4gt to the note 2.
Once I saw lte in my area and it was being tested by my job and by my house I finally made the jump since lte is around the corner for my area and this device is pure beast and I dont regret it at all but if folks are used to wimax and not sure when they will receive it well its a different story but you just have to play your cards right when deciding to make a move.

I myself was in the same situation kinda.. Torn to wait.. I myself just made the jump because everything is really a big waiting game with something new always coming out.. And after a while, in my opinion, the specs on these phones are just going to look good on paper.. A lot of apps don't even being to tap into the full capability of the phone .. That was my mind set so I just jumped ship since I missed out on the first note..

You guys need to try lightweight and recalked. Best 2 Roms which are very close to stock and lightweight only themes the bare things. If you guys want to switch to newer phones, that's fine but don't blame the device and Roms available. It feels somewhat of an insult to all the awesome devs even though I know you guys don't mean it. Just my 2 cents.
Also almost every goodbye thread has some sort of complaint in it..

Why should it be an insult to the devs? The devs wasnt the ones that had sent sprint this screwed up ics update remember it was samsung, the devs just been doing something they love and tryed to fix most thing's that sammy couldn't. I cant speak for all but my main turn off is the elastic super scrolling crap that to me its the biggest turn off and when i find something unattractive im sorry but I don't take one for the team lol. I know some folks got acustom to the fast scrolling since the leaks but for me its a big turn off when I go to sites or apps and when im really not flicking my fingers or putting to much pressure that damn thing scrolls all the way down when im really tryin to get to the center of the page and what not.
I really dont see it as an insult when the software of a rom these devs are working with is a crap that samsung decided to push out to this phone specifically I mean for some folks if you like what you use thats fine by me I just couldn't handle most things that used to bug me and im no rookie at flashing and such. If you really wanna see how crappy this ics update samsung gave this device check out the other devices that also recieve ics updates like the sky rocket they ics update is much better and the scrolling is much smoother and snappy like it really should be without that super quick scrolling crap that some folks actually call smooth lol thats my 2 cents.

Just saw this online. To be fair, this is probably 1M worldwide, but the phone has not yet been released in China or Europe, and that is still a not insignificant amount of handsets in the quarter or so since the release date. If they keep bringing premium handsets like the OG to market LG could easily knock HTC or Motorola out of their spot in the Android Ecosystem. Samsung is likely not to be moved from it's spot any time soon, but it's impressive for a company that the average consumer doesn't even consider when thinking of an Android phone. Maybe they should buy some airtime and run some commercials :silly:

This was a time when HTC was the big player. On top of that, they now got the most active community, something else HTC had. If Samsung can rise out from the bottom like that, anyone can, they just gotta play their cards right.
Man time sure flies, I had that phone for 2 years and I chose the underdog again, lol.

I knew so many people who got the Optimus S.
It was free and a great phone. We had so much support for that little thing. I remember we even had ICS when we barely got GB from LG.
They took forever to release it and it was very buggy. So they had to release a downgrade back to Froyo.
I loved it and still working for my brother. 2+ years.
Now with the OG this phone is a beast. I almost never get a lag and games play well. I love the fact that it has 2GB ram so I could truely multitask. So if more people see why we got this phone than LG may put more support and even more people will like it, etc

Yeah we did have a great community. I miss my epic. I will try to get us sense, blur, xperia, and miui after cm. If lg would release Korean jb source, we could be almost at cm. Maybe firefox os, ubuntu for phones, and webos as well. Those are a bit more difficult though.

I trust my man xboxfanj, I always had a top notch experience with my Epic, and always had the latest release of Android on it. I have no doubt that the development for our OG will match any of the development for any other device out there.

Yeah the Epic development was slow at first as well. We didn't get CM7 going til slightly before CM9 due to lack of source.
I actually think by lowering the price of this phone will be good for getting more units to users hands and in turn will create more developing.
I've been watching Ebay this past weekend and it seems unreal that one could land such a great phone like our OG for around $325.
It wouldn't be long before people realize how much more of a bargain it is to just pick up this phone over anything Sprint currently has to offer.
