Really, which build did you use that fixed it? I've had lots of gps problems on ef02.
i used the acs swisscheese gps fix and it worked like a charm on EF02.
The fix is in this thread:

I appologize if this has been already answered. I did search around and couldnt find any threads related to this.
Does anyone know if the Midnight ROM has corrected the data connectivity issues that are present in the stock froyo build from samsung/sprint.

I am using the ROM and haven't experienced any issues what so ever.
Thanks.
I am currently running the stock froyo build from the Samsung site. Rooted and CW2 installed. Notice the problem when I am roaming using roam control. Data connectivity is intermittent. Hoping a custom rom is the way to go.
I am a little reluctant to go to the ext4 format. Will this prevent me from upgrading "official" froyo updates as they become availabe?

If you're running a custom rom then OTA updates will not come automatically.
Like when official froyo came out. After a few days the devs here had a tar file that included root and recovery. So using odin; i used that to get to the latest version provided by sprint (plus the extras I needed to run custom roms)
Then flashed my fav eb13 rom (eb13 being the version of official froyo from sprint for epic)
smooth sailing; as long as you read and familiarize before you just jump in. You'll know what to -not- do and what to do if something funky happens.
Good lock and happy romming!!
i am running midnight rom 4.1 and have no issues. if you are having issues i would suggest redoing it, not uncommon to have issues every now and then.
I ve tried one or Two Roms but they all seem to have Problems getting a GPS fix
just wondering if anyone uses GPS alot and knows of a working GB Rom
Maybe you can apply this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13710492&postcount=2987

Can you tell me how to push this file like it mentions in the post.
Have been having problems with GPS since CM7 stable, never had problems with it before.
Radio?
10char
32.56.00.32u_5.17.05.23
Could be just the rom. I know that some roms don't work properly for everyone. Just keep trying roms and if they all fail, then check to see if your GPS is actually working properly.
GPS is fine on InsertCoin A2SD V29
Using Ginger Villain 2.3 in combination with radio 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.08 and HTC-Ril_2.2.1.1003G no problem with the GPS.
I had a problem with GPS freeze but tried some different radios and get a fix in 30 seconds....
I think ALL Gingerbread ROM has a working GPS..I've tried a lot of ROM and it always works.

Is the Kernel for EG22 the same as EH06 and would Chris' Kernel work for EH06?
I'm no expert, but I believe so.
Generaly, the way I understand it, a gingerbread kernel is a gingerbread kernal. As long as you are talking about the same android version it is usually OK.
Also, reference the ERA EH06 Unnamed rom (still in the works). The thread indicates that it uses the kernel that you are asking about.
I checked it out for myself. I'm running the EH06 deodexed rom with the EG22PLUS kernel right now. Have had a few startup issues but otherwise it works.
I may try flashing the EG22 hotspots hack as well.
EDIT- just installed the EG22 wireless hotspot. The flash worked, but I don't have a means to test it. No wifi devices around here.

Could be something with the rom. I would highly recommend you try another rom and see if you have the same problem if you use GPS occasionally.
OR
Try to re-flash the rom and don't forget to use Darkside Superwipe to get rid of any problems you may encounter.
Are you using AGPS patch from the dev section ? It could be the culprit, as I had similar experience with it...If you are first try restoring your gps.conf to stock gps.conf (its in /system/etc, use root explorer to navigate to it). If it still doesn't help, try changing the ROM
In my experience, juggernaut 5.0 has best GPS performance of any ROM I've tried till yet if you want to stick with gingerbread...For ICS, try dan brutal's Sirrus rom, its performance come close to juggs but I still stay juggs has the edge...
Although I don't know, why the GPS is varying among ROMS, as I've made sure I use the same gps.conf everywhere..ideally it should be same..
I think it was a Kernel issue. I installed Synergy .10 and it worked like a sharm. Now i'm running an ICS rom and works fine. thanks for replies!!!
First let me get this out there that yes I searched the forums and did find information on how some people were getting GPS issues and some recommended solutions/fixes from other users. However I think my issue is somewhat different and I am trying to get an understanding of it. (please if you do see that a similar issue has posted elsewhere that I missed, I apologize in advance and ask you to point me to that thread).
Currently I am on JellyBean747 by (Drewgaren) ROM based on Sprint leaked JB (L710VPBLJ7). This is the only ROM where I get my GPS working. I have tried swapping ROMs to other leaks, Official releases, AOKP, CM10 with no luck. Tried changing the kernels with Ktoonsez's Stock kernel but still no luck.
I have a nandroid backup of stock+root ROM which I used to get root. Even restoring to that ROM doesn't fix the GPS.
I have also tried turning GPS on before opening maps, used GPS test app and another GPS fix app to setup servers to North America etc. Still no luck on other roms. GPS doesn't even start.
JellyBean747 by (Drewgaren) is the only ROM where I get the GPS working properly (or should I say normally?).
Does anyone have any idea why is that? and what is different in Sprint based rom that might be interfering with GPS files/libs etc.
Any suggestions, pointers, comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
gps fix
go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995347
follow all of the steps exactly.. gps now works on all roms. if you have more problems.. reffer back to here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995347 worked for me :good:
I tried those steps on AOKP with no luck. Since you are suggesting to try it again, I will but this time on LK3 based ROM to see if it works. Can you please share which ROM you were using and having problem with GPS and then were able to fix the GPS using these steps? Thanks for help.
I went back to stock and no GPS. Followed all steps with no luck. Like i said, my hardware is working fine but there is something in Drewgarens rom that is causing GPS to not work with any other roms. Please suggest another tip. Currently i am on AOKP and GPS is gone.
