Added a Linksys WAP to my home network (itself a Linksys ADSL Router). When I search for a connection on my XDA2s I quickly connect to the WAP (The name of the SSID I set up on the WAP config appears in the Current Config window of my XDA).
Why can't I use PIE then. Sat in the cradle I can surf the net like a good'un, but WiFi just refuses to work. I can't access the WAP config page so I cannot be properly connected to the network.
I am getting somewhat frustrated - is this a WAP setup problem or a problem with my XDA?
Not sure if this is your problem but if it's complaining about 'No DNS server specified' etc when you're trying to browse you could try this:
Open Wireless Manager
Goto Tools->Network Cards
Select 'tiacxwln Compatible Wireless Ethernet'
Select the 'Name Servers' tab along the bottom
In the DNS box enter the IP address of your WAP
Soft reset (probably not ultimately necessary but it can't hurt)
Just a suggestion as it's proved useful for myself in the past.
JDH
P.S. If that doesn't work you could also try setting a static IP in the same dialogue
For those that have upgraded to the latest ROM you probably don't have the GRPS settings, I hope the simple steps below will help.
CINGULAR SETTINGS
1) Start, Settings, Connections, GPRS, - CHAP Authentication
2) Start, Settings, Connections, Manage existing connections
Name: MY ISP GPRS, Edit
Name: MY ISP GPRS
Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
Access point name: wap.cingular
Username: WAP[email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
Advanced tab: use server-assigned ip address, and check use IP header compression (TCP/IP).
Servers: use server-assigned addresses.

hi,
i am new to windows mobile. i am trying to connect to internet using my mobile over bluetooth/wifi. I can connect to active using either of them.
To access internet we have to use a http proxy with authentication for internet & specify 'no proxy' for internal websites.(for browsers)
in windows mobile, where should i specify these settings? I went to settings--> proxy and added http proxy, but couldn't figure out those 'connect from' work, wap etc. (connect what from what?)
i can access internal websites. using kavana's wm6.1
pay for unlimited web like the rest of us..i pay $30.00 every month for mine
and if everyone was paying for the unlimted internet maybe it would be cheaper than these people trying to set up proxy's
F$#k Proxy hack
If that's the way you want to go I suggest do a search/or google it 'cause I agree with hovax, the more people hack proxy's the more money we have to pay for our unlimited plans. I'm not speaking for everyone , but I know a lot of people here pay for their plan, rather than steal it.
well, i am from india. the plans we have here gives too low speed (10 to 15kbps) not worth it

I know you shouldnt need to GPRS accounts but for some reason on certain WM6 phones it ONLY works with both, doesnt matter if you have one or the other it wont work unless you have both (on certain phones), mine as well just put it all in, wont hurt anyway
P.S., this was all tested on 4 different t-mobile dash phones
Edge and IE work fine on any of the T-Zones plans with these settings on the dash just pop them in to Settings / Connection /

NEXT TIME DO SOME RESEARCH GOOGLE IT OR USE THE SEARCH FORUM ABOVE^^^^ and maybe you wont have to ask stupid questions. most of this stuff is already on the web you just have to SEARCH
if it's not on the forum look at some other sites because most likely there's people like us that's had this problem before and solved it already.
there is already a tread regarding it

hey there,
this is my first HTC phone and i m a bit disappointed with it i was a iphone user , just thought of trying android this time , so got this cheap phone
anyways, coming to my problem the phone is running 2.2.1 Froyo and its working gr8, but when its giving me problems on wifi, it keeps on saying "Obtaining IP Address" and it gets stuck on that page (Wireless & Network Setting) and says "Wireless & Network Setting Not Responding" and i have to click "Force Close"
any one knows how to fix the issue (Not Stuck On That Setting page)
is there a issue in my security setting or channel ?
i m using WPA-PSK & TKIP+AES as encryption and using channel 6 (I AM IN PAKISTAN)
Anyone can please help me ?
Had similar problem. Changing channel number helped. Unfortunetely, don't remember the values before and after, try to set 'auto' if there is such one.
oh, i m currently using 6 channel, and there is no such thing "Auto" , please help anyone, its really pissing me off and my HTC is not giving battery time too
Just try some other channel. There may be neighbour Wi-Fi network that use the same channel. This may cause the problem. It could be also the Country/Region setting for your Wi-Fi access point or what you are using. It's better to set the corresponding region setting. On the other hand, on my device there is no appropriate choice for my country and all works well anyway (I just chosen someone).
still looking for the fix
What a bunch of experts It has nothing to do with channel number. the problem is in your wifi router.
You need to do some changes in the settings. Enter the settings in router bu typing numbers in the address bar. User name and password are usually admin. Since i don`t know what router you are using(and i don`t care) find settings for DHCP server and check that option(now it is unchecked)
Hope it helps
I just tell that I had similar problem. And the only thing I've done - changed the channel number. Of course this is about the router's (or Wi-Fi access point or whatever) WLAN settings - the Android device has no such setting! Symptoms were exactly the same. And when I've set channel value to 'auto' (yeah, yeah, on my router) everything became ok. That's it.
Certainly DHCP must be turned on, but usually it is by default. And based upon initial question I suppose that topic starter knew about DHCP. Maybe I'm wrong.
And I assure you, I was surprised not less than you when found this solution after few days of searching and experiments.

how expert u r ? lmao, u should know that DHCP must be turned on and i know about DHCP, its just channel setting which is conflicting.. and if u turn off DHCP, u cant run the WLAN on multiple PCs and u have to give IPs to each and every PC u connect to the Router ...
But you obtaining ip address from dhcp. it has nothing to do with ch number. ch number can make problems if your neiighbor is on the same ch and then you can expirience signal strenght issue ,not connection issue...Dhcp is not enabled by default in my country. Did you fix it or not? if not,we will find other solution

Nope, i didnt fix it yet
Just give the phone a static IP as a test, at least you will see if it's DHCP that is causing the issue.

how to give static ip to the phone ?
Menu -> Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Wi-Fi settings -> Menu -> Advanced -> Use static IP
All IP-related Wi-Fi settings are here: IP address, Gateway, Netmask, DNS.

Thanks
But the problem is still there
i doubt it is the compatibility issue between wifi hardwares.
Try menu, settings, wireless and networks, wifi settings, menu, advanced. There is use static ip option. if it is checked, uncheck it. If that does not resolve your problem,we will try something else and keep trying until we fix this.
I tried using the static IP,but the problem is same
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Change your settings (in router) under security to WPA2(AES),Pre-Shared Key Format-passphrase, WPA Authentication Mode-Personal (Pre-Shared Key) .
Under Advance Setting(security also) Authentication Type-set to AUTO.
And don`t using static ip.

First of all enable the WSC then we should get more options for security and tell me the exact model of your router.
