Has anyone successfully repaired a bricked radio by using Pay Servers like Omnius or FastGSM.com?
This is in reference to those plays that were bricked by the OTA update and used the first fix to get the play working but broke the radio...
Please pass your comments and any valuable information here..
Anyone? its been like almost 5 months and no replies... looks like ppl only come here when they are in trouble and once its solved, they disappear....

Binary solved the bricked radio issue month and months and months ago.
The first fix shouldn't have been applied anyways... Bin4ry published it only for a few people to test and everyone downloaded and flashed it.
Yes, any cable unlock service (Omnius, for example) can restore radio.

i debranded from orange rom and everything was fine i got an update so i did it now its saying network locked ?
Are you sim-locked to Orange?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
yup but i got the first update and everything was the same now i got a another update and it has gone like this
Try to unlock your sim card and the message should not appear again. You can buy an unlock code directly from Orange or get one online from a reputable sim-unlocking site, even on eBay. It is possible that you flashed a generic rom that included one of the radio versions which causes this network message to appear. This only happens with Orange branded phones for some reason...

I guess the update was 1.21.405.2
Orange phones that have been de-branded seem to either have their WiFi broken or go to SIM Lock. The only way out of it is to buy an unlock code. (See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=693511)
The same happened to me -- although I know it would, and still wanted to de-brand. I just bought a code for £9 from: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300434867258#ht_1893wt_911 popped it in and it worked!
Yeah, it's not ideal but at least you have a de-branded and unlocked phone.
You see what you did there Faddy? You've been told on TWO previous posts SEARCH THE FORUM. In fact the answer to the two obvious questions you asked needed NO SEARCH AT ALL as the answers were recent enough they're still on the front page, but you decided beeing snarky and lazy was better.
Well you would have read peoples issues with the second update and would have avoided this. I have zero sympathy for you.
I have seen many posts by this member... makes you think, could he not have just noted all his queries in one post?

I have to agree with you lot that the OP is lazy and wants spoon fed!
That said, Faddys, if you flash an older radio this should unlock your sim for you again.
I'll let you do the searching to find which one
Edit: When you flash a radio, it goes through 2 reboots. DO NOT interrupt the flash, or remove the battery if you think it's taking too long. This will brick the handset.

I'm quite sure from his absence since posting this that he's probably done that already.

LOL, I have noticed the lack of updates from him on any fixes he's tried, and a distinct lack of thanks to people that try to help.
It's bacisally ask for help, get it, leave..

It might help others who are following this thread to say how you unlocked it.
Did you reflash an older radio, or did you buy an unclock code?

Either method would have fixed it, but I agree with you mate and i think it would be beneficial to others if he cared to ellaborate a little
Hi all, I was going to get this phone earlier (around the end of 2011) but never got it. I finally decided to get one and its on its way now, hopefully I'll have it by tomorrow.
Last I heard if you were to root it, the scary LoS issue that I read so much about would start occurring. Now with more updates out by Sprint since then has this issue been solved? Can I root and flash roms without worrying about my data/signal being at risk?
Any clarifications on this would be appreciated, thanks.

LoS has been gone for awhile
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
The LoS issue has been a non-issue since modem EK02, from what I hear.
Personally, I've never encountered it, except on the subway.
Root away! Frankly, this is a hard-to-brick phone, as long as you take a bit of time to research whats involved. And don't flash ROMs intended for the "international version". (aka I9100.)
The link to the thread in my sig is considered the "easiest way", but the old hacks'll tell ya to learn to use ODIN.
Don't know how familiar you are with Samsung devices, but I would seriously spend some time reading about ROM versions, kernal versions, modem versions before attempting ANYTHING. seriously. And look up QBKing77 on youtube, his vids will set you on the right path for rooting and flashing this phone.
Thank you guys. Yes I have lots of experience with Samsung. I'm using the Nexus right now and I've had the captivate for a good part of last year. Thanks for the response and advice. I will root probably within the hour I get the phone now.

Hi all, Its been almost 2 years since i did an OTA update on my play and bricked it. Using the first patch that came out to fix this problem of phone not booting, i "destroyed" the bootloader or something or RadioRom and my phone does not accept any sim. it was originally unlocked.
Has anyone come up with a way to revive the play to make calls or something. cos its really depressing having a phone jus lying there wasting away, only to be brought out when needed for navigation or games.
Someone please helppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
Again, not development related

Surely, if your phone is unlocked you can flash a new firmware, and get back onto a kernel and custom ROM, right?
If it was an OTA update that destroyed the phone, they should have replaced it or offered you a discount on a replacement, too; unless it was a custom ROM OTA like CyanogenMod offers.
dont know how to move post, but reposted in QA section... so help pls

Bro, find the appropriate FTF files, download Flashtool, plug up your phone and revert back to stock.
BTW, if you bricked it 2 years ago, you could have gotten it replaced for free by you service provider (at least you can do that with Verizon here in the US)
Hello. I recently bought my first xperia, the xperia S.
Noticed after I bought it from an auktion site that I can't unlock the bootloader. I asked the carrier if they could unlock it and sony as well. No solution
Are there any development going on to solve this problem? I've heard that the Sony signature server is offline so i guess paid services are out of the question.
I also think that this problem deserves more attention. I'm sure there are alot of people like me out there suffering while their fingers are burning to be able to install new kernels and obviously cyanogenmod...

Lots of people with the same locked bootloader all looking for a way to unlock it, lots of people have worked on it too, all to no avail.. Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2137561 or wait a few days for XSX2 to come out..:fingers-crossed: you will probably be happy enough. kernels will still be out of the question though.
That was what I was afraid of... Thanks for the information

Hello.
11.11.2015 i recived a notification on phone that Elephone had released a new update to improve system functioning ect.
Keep in mind this is a stock p8000. nothing done with it.
I downloaded update, installed and it said phone will reboot.
After that phone is stuck in bootloader and simply wont boot.
Ive tried wiping cache and factory reset but PHONE WONT turn on.
So question is. What the hell do i do now?
There's like five threads about the same problem, so nothing really unusual about this excerpt for the lack of quality control from Elephone which apparently releases broken OTA:s and phones with old or modified base roms. ?
This thread should be merged with other ones.
Have anyone found a solution?

manually flash the stock rom .. i faced the same ****.. i followed the below steps and my elephone working fine
http://bbs.elephone.hk/thread-9229-1-1.html
hope this will work...
Fixed
As it turns out i managed to fix the problem.
Manually flashed a new rom and now the phone works fine. Tho im not installing the new update again.
Have to be said that the people behind the update and responsible for keeping the phone updated and fresh should have been fired.
People without the necessary skills on this subject would have to return or get the money refunded because THE only way to fix this is flashing a new rom..
Thanks for the help people!!

LOL, fired for what? it worked on most devices.
you get what you pay for! how are elephone selling a phone with decent specification for that price? they cut corners everywhere.
quality being 1 and skilled staff is the other.
with the given resources, their staff did they best they could with the test hardware they had.

Also, most China phones don't even get updates, or even more exclusive, source code releases like this one. My guess is that there's likely only a one man show in charge of software development for this model, so give them some slack will you. [emoji1]
mine went off to after the OTA so i had to flash manually and like my friend said there trying, unlike most china phone company's so even though mine failed my father's and my friend's p8000 got there OTA np
It seems like the first 5000 batch delivered had no notification led, they seem to put in different hardware thats available. So end up with a hotch podge of slightly different devices.
So fingers crossed that a update works.Thankfully Elephone allows ,enables development.
It also looks like OTA update fails on rooted phones, which is not so different than what happens to most Android phones. When I used a Samsung phone long ago, OTA update notifications wouldn't even show up if you had rooted your phone, and on other phones I remember having a similar issue after I applied an OTA update with the phone rooted
