DEV Q - Could we port Conap's multiboot? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi devs,
today morning it was news on the xda portal, that it is possible to have 4 ROMs installed on the Droid Incredible, and to choose which one you want to boot up.
Here is the thread
I hope somebody will be interested, and we get at least a dualboot. Would be nice especially, that there is the Ubuntu project now.
The only problem is, that we don't have 8GB internal storage, but we have sdcard (where the Ubuntu runs from to)
I will delete this thread as soon as a dev makes an other one for making the development happen.

yes, it's possible, but it's a bit tricky.
but this way we could have a Sense, a CM and Ubuntu on our DHD at the same time Wouldn't it be nice?

you are right, it is the case with Incredible, but you can run Ubuntu natively on your DHD and it uses your sdcard, so it would be possible to install the ROMs there

But wait a second! You can run it in a virtual machine in Ubuntu.
You see?! I solved it for you. LOL

I was kidding about w7, but multi boot would be great! Dhd has more than enough internal memory

IF we did get this ported to the dhd, would it be good to go for an inspire user like me? or would it take some more dev time to also port it for the inspire. I'm still not technically aware of what dhd and inspire's differences are..
EDIT: also, are the inspire and dhd's internal memory the same?

That's great idea!!

The desire HD have enough internal memory to have cm7 and sense at the same time.
Cmon devs!

Non-existent ROM for the Desire ATM - Either You go S-Off and change HBOOT or you won't get much internal space.
AFAIK 2.3.4 has not been ported yet.

Not at all true. You should read about data2sd.
To op: try gingerburst
You will get exactly what you wish. See the screenshots for my OP. It's designed for stock hboot, and needs only ext4 partition for internal memory. You can increase it to as much as you required. My internal memory is 2.5GB, of which 1.5 GB is still free, lol

Guys, once a thread is started, try to help newbies.. some of the greatest ideas around here were evolved from apparently nonsensical queries
Sent from my Desire running Supernova Extreme - Gingerbread goodness with Unlimited Internal memory
I understand what you're saying, but meanwhile xda becomes clogged up because there is exactly the same question asked in about a million different threads. The same answers can be found in every one of those threads, so why have more than one? *wishful thinking I know*

It's true.. Users should search before posting. But once a thread is started, it's not going to be deleted. So my approach is to give them answers they need so that the thread fades to the backgound.. And in his case, he had specific requirements in his mind, so he has apparently researched stuff before posting and I think it deserves appreciation for that..

Not sure you can port an LG ROM to and HTC phone. Too many proprietary stuff for both. Most phones firmware is not interchangeable between what different devices. The only exception is AOSP and even then we still have some problems.

[Q][Devs] Ubuntu Phone Os

Hello all.
Do you think it's possible to work on an Ubuntu port from nexus 4 for our devices?
Maybe someone is already working on it. If yes could you tell us please.
Thanks you devs for your hard work!
Maybe image from n7 would be easier to port since it is tegra 3...
all i can say would love to se this tested out due to the Nexus 7 sharing the tegra 3 but there is alot of other issues at hand that may be different but the dev have made wonders of previous things.
Yes I agree with you. Deva are really goods here. I'm a noob in Linux dev. So n7 image is ready to download it's why I asked this question... I would like to try but I don't want to brick my phone... But I'm really interested to try Ubuntu...
An official porting guide will be availllable at 15pm... https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
We want to see ports for our HTC One X Some developers already ported it to SGS3.
I think is better wait for a port when radio and other works.
Because, the first image, have the radio off, kernel is unstable and a lot of pics are fake
To anybody else trying: can you get the "phablet-dev-bootstrap" command to work? 'Cause I can't.
I'll try at home... Work in progress for one x+... Maybe it's will be easier to port it...
Sorry for question but i'm interesting: why port a pre-alpha release when don't work anything?
I think in 2 months there are new release with a stable kernel and with radio on

Because of.... I need it! I want to give it a try and most probably, whenever it becomes a bit more usable, we won't have to start everything from scratches.
I'm trying to do something with the port, can't assure anything... no enthusiastic comments please!

It was an info question
I think is better take a port when it will be more usable but we are free and my it was a question!
Don't worry mate

ROM Porting

Hi everyone! I'm trying to learn how to make some development, in particular i'm trying to port my first ROM for the HOX.
Actually I intend to do this only for personal use because i'm a noob, but if i succeed then i will publish my work.
The point is: i'm searching for a CM 10.1 rom to use as base, are those ones from development thread right to use or I have to use another kind of rom as base? Thanks to you all!

Q&A for [ROM] [4.4.4] [Dec-02] [UNOFFICIAL] LiquidSmooth v3.2 | stable | Release 2
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [ROM] [4.4.4] [Dec-02] [UNOFFICIAL] LiquidSmooth v3.2 | stable | Release 2. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Thank you for your great work
Can you please make a rom for CDMA users too? Or tell me what files i need to change to be able to run this rom on my Htc Desire CDMA? If you want i will even pay for it please. I am sick of GB rom and Ics and Jb roms always break after a while. I speak in the name of all CDMA users. Have mercy please. May God bless you ! I know that you will help me. Thank you.

If it is possible with evervolv kernel to make a ROM for CDMA, then I will do.
Take it easy, I don't want your money. I need you to contribute knowledge on this because I don't have time to read all cdma related rom threads for htc desire. If you stumble across the relevant information just share it with me.

Does this problem also occurs on the stock ROM?
Are you the first owner of the A8181?
As well it might be a hardware problem (for example, damage), or overheating caused by the motherboard.

Thank you for replying. No, never occurred on stock. I used beanstalk ROM for 6 months , except rare reboots, everything was cool , until my SD card blow up. A week ago I got a class 10 card and i flashed beanstalk again, then my phone started to reboot while phone calls and overheating. After that i decided to flash liquidsmooth but reboots while calling and overheating continue.

Problem with Liquidsmooth v3.2 on HTC Desire Bravo
Hi
My faithful Samsung S3 died 6 weeks before the end of my contract and I'm trying to resurrect my old HTC Desire to keep me going. When I booted it, it was still running Cmd 7 and of course, hardly and of my usual apps would work on it.
I did a bit of reading today and then followed the instructions for installing Liquidsmooth v3.2 which was all good and made me much happier. Only problem is, I've installed only 8 apps and have run out of internal memory despite having activated app2sd. I know that it's working, as the Ext2 partition is about half full but the internal memory is down to only 4mb of space and barely functioning.
I've obviously done something stupid! Can someone help?
Thanks
