Problem porting a ROM - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Im trying to port a ROM for the Droid Incredible from the LG G2X and I cant even flash it . Clockwork recovery gets stuck at installing update... What did I do wrong?

Depends on what kind of ROM you're trying to port.

It's a stuck ROM btw I'm sure you know but I'm a n00b so spare me LOL. I followed procedures to changing files but it wont flash.

I made sure it's a zip file and i tested it with 7zip when I put it on my sd-card

So... Is this question dead now? No support? *sigh*

Check my sig for a port guide

Not sure you can port an LG ROM to and HTC phone. Too many proprietary stuff for both. Most phones firmware is not interchangeable between what different devices. The only exception is AOSP and even then we still have some problems.

its extremely hard (if not bordering improbable) to port oem skin roms from different manufacturers
the amount of things that has to be changed, as well as kernel levels mods are prohibitive....id say get familiar with a) making stock roms and later on b) porting sense roms phone to phone to learn whats going on first

i dont see a good workin one there
Every one of these work. You are never going to get the perfect rom to suit your needs unless you make one yourself. The instructions to make your own are on the dev forum too.
Take a decent bit of time and read the threads on the dev forums and decide what you want then flash it. If it's not for you, try another.

Cool. If you're interested, you could use this as a project to learn development yourself
I actually don't know where to start with a sense ROM. I can compile AOSP from source, but not sure how you get the proprietory files into a sense ROM and get it compatible.
I couldn't even if I wanted to.

Well you could use dsixda porting tools to extract the kernel etc from a base rom. This may do the whole job or perhaps part of it.
And there is always CDMA Desire.

[Q] HTC Wildfire Bee from Cox

Hi Guys, I really need your help on this one. I have HTC Wildfire from Cox. I wanted to root and remove Cox power up animation on this phone. Here is the details of my phone:
Android 2.2.1
HBoot 1.40.0000
Kernel 2.6.32.21
Let me know if you need more information. I saw many guides about Wildfire but I did not see anyone that has HBoot 1.40.0000 that is why I'm not really sure if the guide is right for my phone.
Sorry I'm new with HTC and Android please help and point me to the right direction.
Thank you so much!!
Sorry, the HTC Bee is very similar but not the same as the Buzz. But that doesn't mean I can't help you
Get one of the Wildfire boot animations or any boot animation that is 240x320. Look in the folders
/system/customize/resource or
/system/media or
/data/local.
Replace it with your boot animation.
Watch it go
Sent from my Wildfire using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
Thanks Giffgaff! You are a ROCKSTAR!!
I was able to root my phone using Z4root
Instead of just changing the boot animation I want to load a new ROM. There are so many ROMs in this site how can I tell if the ROM is the right for my phone? Please note this is a CDMA phone.
Thank you so much Guys!!!

Lol, giffgaff is just the name of my carrier, not actually my username
Unfortunately, this is where the Bee is lacking in - ROMs. As the Buzz is a GSM phone, not CDMA, the ROMs in this phone's Development section will not work on your Bee
The Bee is very similar to the Buzz but as it is CDMA, most ROMs will not work and as there have been no custom recoveries, that makes it even harder to flash ROMs
But you're free to make one if you wish, you'll save the Bee community

I don't know any ROMs personally for the Bee, but a good place to start to make ROMs is Chef Central, here in XDA. You can ask whatever you wish about ROM making - there are quite a good few guides to making them. You can start by extracting a ROM from the HTC Bee RUU. A guide for that is here: I also started off like this!
But first of all, it would be a good idea to start learning the Android slang - this is a good one. Or alternatively, browse any random HTC device and browse the threads, looking for new words. And that thanks was to increase your thanks meter.

Keep it going and they might open a Bee forum
You can also theme icons once you get the ROM going by going into /system/framework and decompiling framework-res.apk before replacing the icons. Then, compile it as a system app and replace your existing one. APK Manager is a good tool for compiling and decompiling, and using adb pull to get your framework-res.apk in command prompt. e.g
adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk C:\Users\Me\Desktop\ROMcooking
EDIT: If you want to unlock your bootloader, not just root, you can try this:
Here
or you can also try plugging your phone into your computer, typing adb reboot bootloader and try fastboot oem write secureflag 0.
But I don't take responsibility if your phone is damaged
I have Alltel and C Spire RUU. How can I tell this is compatible with my phone? Note I have a Cox branded Wildfire. Thanks!

Hmmm...
Wonder if we could take that ROM, change the updater-script to match our mounting points....then we just need a kernel....
Which we have one kernel already made. Not sure if it would work though.
If anyone would help set up a build environment that would work for our kernels and roms then I will gladly help and start learning.

Well, it shouldn't take too long. It may be possible to build a CM9 Kernel for our phones using parts of the stock kernel that we have access to.
Once the JB source is released, an S3 port might actually be viable. Otherwise it's essentially just flashing a gnex image and praying something/anything works.

a CM9 kernel shouldn't be needed, just a modded kernel for our specific phone from what i believe.
We know this, but it's more of an experiment. Also, it helps work out anything we may need to do early on with the modules and drivers

Why not take this ROM, change the updater-script for our mount points, remove the flashing of the boot.img, flash ROM then flash the kernel Roman release?

It could, in theory. But we would need to work on the modules for anything to work. Could you post our mount points?
why does it have to be a cm9 kernel?
to be completely honest, as soon as we get a cm9 alpha, we will see some worth while stuff! but until then. TouchWiz it iz. We will have team kang's AOKP in no time im sure. i cant wait to see wuts to come. especially since this phone is at all the major carriers and they are all basically exactly the same! should be epic.

Woah there!!!!!
OP DO NOT FLASH THOSE KERNELS!
You could brick!
Never flash anything that was not made specifically for your device. If you bother to read the first post in most of those threads they specifically say that Verizon and sprint are not supported.
Please do not post links to potential harmful threads.
We will have custom kernels as soon as HTC releases kernel source for our device. If you can't wait that long then a few of the AOSP ROMs have the HTC logo working as a button.
definitly not flashing any of those haha.
but thank you both for the responses

That is the kernel I using on cm10.2. of course, I'm on verizon.
VanirAOSP uses a custom kernel that allows the HTC Logo to be used as a sleep/wake button.
