Apparently after a couple of days the everything gets unstable and i stop receiving texts and framework force closes. This has happened on every version and I'm wondering why?
BTW Love this Rom! It'd be a daily if it wasn't for this fact
Did you wipe EVERYTHING 3x?
I had some problems with 3.0, but I'm running on UBER Kingdom and it's been working almost flawlessly.
Ive usually wipe everything except the mounts and things at least twice and flash twice. Can you post the installation instructions so i can try again?
To hit everything, do these in recovery:
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Format boot
Format system
(The data and cache partitions are wiped by the previous wipe data, wipe cache commands)
i was also having problems with hybrid 3.0. soft reboots after everything switched back to uber's and all is fantastic again.
Did you try just restarting your phone? I know that after a few days custom roms will sometimes start acting up.

I have actually tried to restart and the messagesCS fc usually goes away for a couple of minutes and then comes back. Thanks for the instructions too.

Before you wipe, try rebooting into recovery and repair permissions. If that doesn't work then start fresh.

that's called a Force Close (FC). It usually happens with an unstable ROM/unstable app but more often it happens when you don't wipe (Cache/Dalvik) before installing a custom ROM.
Backup any important data that's not already on your sdcard, go back into recovery, wiple your cache and dalvik, and flash the ROM again. see if that helps you

even if im coming from the old fresh to the new fresh i still have to wipe
I'm not familiar with Fresh's ROMs, if you read his threads carefully I'm sure he'll tell you which version upgrades require a wipe and which don't. Usually a drastic upgrade will require a wipe. In your case a wipe will most likely fix these FCs
With the learning curve for the EVO still growing, its usually a good idea to wipe data/cache/dalvik when flashing new roms. Even updates. I haven't seen too many "No Wipe Necessary" around this forum. As long as you've got Titanium or MyBackup, wiping isnt as big of a headache as it used to be. Hope you get things figured out. Screwing with these phones can get frustrating. Dont know how many times I wished I hadnt messed with anything.
well i just wiped and reloaded fresh so hopefully this will fix everything
Pretty much came out of nowhere today, none of my Google apps work. Everything else works fine. No search, no market, can't even go to Google.com in the browser. On cm7 beta.
Tried factory reset and when I tried to sign in to my Google account it wouldn't let me. Never had this problem and I'm pretty well lost. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

Since you tried a factory reset, you obviously don't mind starting fresh. Rather them factory reset, boot to cwm, then wipe cache, dalvik, then factory wipe, THEN re apply your cm7 zip. Then flash gapps. You should be golden then.

I have been happy with my Virtuous ROM but started having some issues. Flashed the XDA Leaked Gingerbread ROM yesterday and immediately had the same issues described with the Google Apps (mail won't work, Google Talk won't work etc etc). Additionally I noticed that my SetCPU app won't open.
So when I flashed the new ROM, I went into CWM, wiped cached, dalvik and factory (although not in that order). I guess I'll try it one more time. I've also heard that wiping 3 times is sometimes necessary. Any other tips or tricks?
My gf liked my rooted Nexus, so when she bought her 4g I rooted it for her. It wasn't long before she wanted custom roms, which I helped her out with.
However, we have been running into an issue. No matter what rom is installed after about a while (week to month) her phone starts force closing on everything.
I have flashed it without formatting, with formatting (x3) and nothing seems to fix it.
Needless to say she is becoming ever frustrated and in turn so am I. Is there anything I could check to try to fix the problem.
Appreciate it, and if there is more info you guys need just let me know, because I know this is somewhat vague.
wipe all user data/factory reset, cache and dalvik 3x then flash the rom. her phone should be good to go after that.
Also data, boot and system.shoukd be wiped for any brand new rom you flash, unless its an update to say from nightly, then only dalvik and cache need to be wiped. factory resetting along with wiping caches isn't enough.
Use r2r super wipe and grursomes wipe all zip. Clean wipe makes for clean rom

edit: amon ra recovery
Alright I have done all of that excpet the super wipe. Maybe there is something I am doing wrong with the actual format. What sizes should I be making the partitions, and ext3 is ok to use right?
When making partitions the size you make is only for apps. I myself only use a 500 MB partition or whatever value amonra allows. The fcs might be from caches filling up. When fc problems arrive try wiping dalvik and cache in recovery. Otherwise you really shouldn't have issues. Also try to download roms using only wifi or straight from a computer. That lowers chsbdes of bad downloads

I have almost tried ALL the ICS custom roms. Besides the default, T-Mo ICS rom, none of the other custom ICS roms that is based on 4.0.3 UVLE1, does not shutdown or reboot.......it just sits there.
All the instructions that I came across refers to 'Cache, Dalvick Cache and Permissions reset" - but this does not make a difference.
Even the software apps available to reboot.poweroff, does not work anymore.
Any ideas? Am I missing something?
It almost seems like something was messed up somewhere and all the ROM mods are based on that?
Thanks
Have you tried that Darkside Cache Wipe? it usually clears up that problem.

What recovery are you running? Have you tried the darkside super cache wipe? Cwmr 5.0.2.7 (i believe that's the version) the hard recovery doesn't clear caches correctly. Never had a problem with with ics roms not rebooting or power issues, been running cm9 stable since release and haven't had a problem.

Yes. I used the Darkside Cache wipe everytime before I flash the ROMs, This is my process:
Backup, wipe data, Wipe cache, ADvanced+wipe Dalvic, mount+Format /system, flash Darkside EXT4 wipe, Flash Darkside Cache wipe,
Flash rom, reboot, let is sit 10mins, reboot (well hold power in for 10seconds until it buzz and then boot up)
Afterwards powerbutton brings up menu, it even brings up the T-Mobile shutdown logo (if the rom has it) and just sits there......FOREVER.
I have even reflashed the Darkside Cache wipe - still the same.
I'm on CWM Touch recovery 6.0.1.1
Very annoying.

Yeah, that is very annoying. Have you looked into the potential that it could be a kernel issue? And also, have you flashed back to stock and done completely clean install without resorting data to anything?

Thanks....
I'll flash back to stock this evening when I get back home and see how it goes.....will report back.
Thanks
PS. I normally ONLY restore my apps-data - NO system data accept SMS/MMS & Bookmarks - that's all system data I EVER restore.
But I'll try the 'back to stock' and report back.

I was having the same problem. The ds scripts did not fix it for me. I also tried updating cwm5.0.2.7 to cwm 6.x. still it did not work. Tried using ROM toolbox pro, titanium backup pro and ROM manager, they would all freeze while trying to power off the phone or trying to reboot to recovery. Finally I flashed twrp2.2, that has seem to fixed it.

Don't use CWM to wipe cache at all.
1. Flash super wipe
2. Flash Rom
3. Flash cache wipe
4. Reboot
5. Let sit for 10 mins
6. Reboot
Follow those steps and you will have no problems.

Honestly, I don't see the point of wiping cache after a fresh install. Unless I'm mistaken, there is no cache yet? I do that except no cache wipe after flash ROM. With Darkside in particular, it installs apps during the first boot up. Of yet to have out of the norm issues.

Must do something because the only way my reboot and power off will work is if I flash the cache wipe after the rom.

I must be the only one with this issue when i use superwipe for some odd reason my phone will not boot unless i do a cwm recovery no matter what i do. i am not too sure why this happes, and btw i am stock...., but it does and i cannot figure it out i am scared to use it. The only other way i was able to get my phone to boot past the quick load up bar which it stops at about 90% for some odd reason is if i do a nandroid restore...any reason why this happens???
You're supposed to use the darkside cache script after flashing the rom and after flashing any other mods and themes, but I have also notice that the script does not work correctly when using twrp. So when using twrp clear the caches and fix permissions with the options in recovery after the rom.
Bert, dont use that cache wipe again.. i think it depends on the phone or something. After i use that cache wipe zip, the phone is STUCK on goodbye. Does not reboot correctly after that.. i have to battery pull. If your phone hangs "normal" time length, put it in your pocket meanwhile.. who cares, **** happens.. no dev is perfect. Thats why theres so many updates all around..
try remove everything from yr phone, sd, sim, battery, use different ones if possible. format emmc etc..... am i being unclear? nvm, recovering from a bad cold.

Why are you pulling the battery? If for any reason the phone does get stuck all you have to do is hold down the power button for about 10 seconds for it to reboot. All you're gonna get pulling the battery so much is probably a broken back cover from removing it so much, only time you should pull the battery is if the phone isn't responding even to the power button or stuck in a boot loop where holding power til it reboots and then immediately holding down both volume rockers to get into recovery doesn't work.
lol nvm i was surfing on epic fail dot com.......

Need a little help here... Been on CM 10 from the beginning on my TMobile s3 with no problems. After I downloaded the 8-18-12 nightly my phone will not get past the android setup screen?? Anyone else having this issues and what can I do about this? Thanks!!
I just installed it and it works fine so far. Try another wipe and install. Or maybe your download is bad.

Tried nightly download from cyanogen site & rom mgr. to no avail?? My rom mgr is updated, did full wipes and no luck. Reverted back to 8-14 with no issues. Haven't heard anyone else having this issue and I've never had any issues downloading CM before?? Weird. Thanks for the info.

First time I installed it, it worked out fine but there was a few minor issues like camera won't upload pictures and videos to facebook, Unable to update status. I decided to flash it again but this time I wiped dalvik 3x cache and data 2x format system cache data 2x each. After doing that everything worked out fine.

Yes, I had the same problem. It seems to work sometimes, sometimes not. Just do the 3 types of wipes, and try again- it should work.
One hint: during the installation of the ROM when it says "unleashing the evil"- it should take a good 20 seconds (or so) to "unleash". On the installations that failed for me it said "unleashing the evil" and immediately finished installing- and then the boot after that failed too....
Wipe 3x's?

Thanks for all the info. This morning I tried the download again from ROM mgr. and it worked fine Didn't do anything different but it worked!! Also, when you say wipe 3 x's, how do you do this? I installed today from ROM mgr. and it pops up to wipe and I check all boxes. After install is complete it auto boots into new build. Should I go back to recovery and wipe again or?? Thanks again.
Since I used the recovery to wipe, I was taking about wiping the 1) user data (factory re set), 2) the cache, and 3) the dalvik cache. If you're using the ROM manager, I'm sure what you did was fine. Truth is, I don't think all of the 3 wipes I did are always necessary especially if you're just upgrading from a previous build... Good luck!

Thanks! Went ahead and booted into recovery and did the wipes again anyway. Seems to be working great.
I had that problem last night.
What I did was go into Clockwork and installed google apps. Then rebooted and it went through the setup without any problem.
Thanks Cyanogen & Crew
Just wanted to say thanks to all that works on CM 10. I'm running the 9-6-12 nightly on My mobile Beastly S3 & we are very close to stable! Thanks for all your hard work.
