Anyone know if xda has a solution to root my EVO running 2.2 via OTA update.

I just wanted to say great first post...hopefully someone will find the way to root YOUR phone because according to the 100 or so other threads, if you would have SEARCHED FIRST nobody else has been able to get it but I have faith you might be the one. So please when you get the way to root will you please share it with the rest of us! But you might wanna check the first thread at the top of the Q and A forum I think the info u need is there. So when you figure root out please report back how you did it! Oh thanks again for one of the best first posts we have seen...
P.S. HOW FA KING HARD IS IT TO SEARCH BEFORE YOU FA KING POST!

I heard they do but its really really really really hard to figure it out. I think you have to be certified or something before you are allowed to use it! Lol this is getting ridiculous......

It must suck more to be so busy that you don't have the time to search or even read the sticky at the top of this very forum (about an inch and a half down from the "New Thread" button).

So here is my question
I want to flash a Rom that has the newest sense(2.0) n I'm been looking around n I saw 2 the new kings and le latest of myns but I but I.want 2now if there is any problem if after I flash any of this Rom I put a backup of my stock Rom that has the sense that the evo came wit so guys help a brother out and super thnx in advanced

I've flashed and used both and can tell you that you will like them. Having said that, there is a small learning curve with Sense 2.0 and some people are uncomfortable with the new layout. Do not expect 4G to work. It is a rom ported from a device that does not support 4G. As for the speed, I think you will be impressed. Even the 3G internet browsing speed is noticeably faster. Give them both a try. If you find that you don't like them, you can always nandroid back to your previous setup if you create a nandroid backup prior to flashing the Z rom(s). Be sure to do a full wipe in recovery before flashing...Take care...

I. Now I saw the pics n they look good but my question is if there would be a.problem if go back to a.nandroid or a.Rom.that don't.have the sense 2.0

Ok, well I didn't see one question mark but I'm assuming you are asking about nandroid restoring... Here's the scoop: Since you've made a nandroid backup already then you may flash ANY rom and IF there is a problem then yes you can nandroid restore and it'll act like it never even happened.
You shouldn't have any problems though as long as you wipe you phone and flash Calkulin's format all zip (which I've attached) then flash the rom of your choice. Hope this clears things up a bit.

No. There will be no problem going back. Just be sure to back up your wimax/4g just incase something goes haywire. It more than likely won't. But be on the safe side. You can nandroid back and forth to 2.0 all you like.

Yes, you can change skins. I have found that some can be a little wonky tho

Lockscreen format question

Ok sorry for the noob question. I can't find how to change the time and date format on the lockscreen. Currently I can't read the date, the way it is listed its to big. Thanks in advance

Go into Samsung Epic Development and look for the Touchwiz lock.screen fix. It is on the first or second page and flash the stock fix.

Ahh ok I guess id have to be rooted to flash that. Hrmm I may have to do some more reading. I tried to root a while back with oneclick nd had lots of issues so I gave up. Somewhere between my htc mogul and now I have lost touch with technology. I did all kinds of crazy stuff with that now the simple stuff is giving me issues.lol thanks guys!

Just do the simple.root with one click 2.5.5. It is stickied at the top of development.
Do you BONSAI?

or maybe even gingerbreak.apk root.. though it some people are having issues.. if it works, its very simple no pc needed solution

Ok so I will try to explain with all the details as I can and thanks for your help
I was rooted with S-off and everything was fine. Was testing some ROM recently when my phone yesterday morning started rebooting on its own. I tried to unplug the battery and go into recovery but it kept rebooting. When i say rebooting it means it went to white screen with htc logo then few seconds with black screen then back to white screen and so on. I tried everything with no avail. Tried RUU from sprint but that did nothing and same problem (only updated my hboot from .93 to 2.02) and when I tried another one the first RUU from sprint available it makes my phone vibrate 5 times and then green light flashing with black screen.
I cannot get into recovery at all. Cannot get ADB to connect and I get fastboot remote not allowed if i tried to erase recovery. Tried to flash recovery several times with no help using Hboot and PC36IMG.zip. Please help me if you can and thanks in advance.

Most likely, this will get moved to Q&A anyhow, and btw, I come to the Dev section last and I DO follow the speed limit (+ about 1% over) and use my blinkers at every turn....

How does it not?? The CRT animations are in the ROMs that are uploaded to this page I'm wanting to locate them to access it or have someone upload it, I'm not asking questions about random b.s, so yeah dude...... have a great day

The Opening post should be a release and not some demanding question. If you're going to be like that, then put it in the Q and A as opposed to wasting space in the Development section.

Hey bud i had same question but was unable to find answer, i guess just wait for developers making rom to add the feature soon.

Its a mod you have to apply to the rom. Includes decompiling apk. There are lots of tuts and how-tos for how to do this. If you don't want to tackle it yourself then yeah, you'll have to wait for a dev to include it in their rom. Though you may notice almost all roms for our phones have this enabled.
