Midnight ROM not flashing - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have been very interested in the Midnight Rom 5.2 and have attempted to flash it several times but each time I do I get a message that says "install aborted".
I an using CWM 3.1.0.1 and have not had problems with other roms. I have tried with CWM 3.0.2.5 & 2.5, but it seems to not make a difference. What am I doing wrong? is midnight not compatible with CWM?
Very confused. Any help is greatly appreciated.

SRF 1.2 is ext4 check midnight to see if ext4 or RTFS if it is RTFS d/l ext42rtfs script flash from cwm then flash rom. If this is the cas search the epic forum for ext4 conversion. If you can't find it PM me I will send it to you.

this +1 midNight uses EXT4 has for a while. 5.5 is the only version that doesn't work with CWM, you have to switch to masterkey from bonsai.

Trouble installing roms with EC05

Everytime I flash a rom that requires EC05 it flashes like it's taking out in recovery & then when it boots up it stays on the black & white Samsung screen. Phone will vibrate & screen will go black with the white notifications at the bottom still lite, then it goes back 2 the Samsung screen

More info is necessary, what version of clockwork are you using? What rom are you trying to install?

Did you wipe data 3x?
If so and it still doesn't work, odin back to eb13 and flash Rom then odin the Ec05 modem back.
May work for you?
Yeah I wiped 3x. I have no problem installing other roms besides this 1. I odined & everything. Even redownloaded 2 see if it was a bad download but its still the same. The EC05 modem I got from the OTA update

Odin back to EB13 and try flashing the rom. Then odin the EC05 tar file and see if that fixes it for you. I'm assuming that you are rooted and converted to EXT4? Probably are but I just thought I'd ask to be sure.
I am no expert by any means and I'm only telling you info I have gathered through lots of research and trial and error when I first started my journey to the promised land.
I tried using the tar file 4 EC05 4 odin & it says failed. That's why I did the OTA update cause I didn't know the actual update was EC05. Do now I really don't know wat 2 u. It frustrates me cause I flash shout of roms, go from modem 2 modem & like I don't knew anymore

Cool, same thing happened to me,last night at 6 am. I was reading, and flashing, and Odin'ing, and re rerooting. I thought it was time to get the OTA to froyo. So I Flashed ACS syndicate EXT 4 Rom. I also got the Stuck Vibrating sasung logo. I booted into clockwork recovery after I had this problem, once I saw it working I was calm. Then I wiped data and cache once... 3 times is the normal ammount though according to professionals. I then reinsalled ACS syndicate Rom. This time is stayed on CWM recovery after it finished and asked me what I wanted to do. Reboot, or wipe, or all those options on the CWM main screen. So then I chose to reboot. And it started up perfect. ACS rom is so fast, so smooth, so slick. I love it. And I love the Epic on 2.2. Apps to SD AND flash player... my phone is now good, andi enjoy bing on it. Battery life is average. But I haven't calibrated properly. Best of luck hope that helps you and others. When I read your post I was like Oh snap tha just happened to me! LOL hours later I'm rooted and customi;ng the **** out of my epic. XDA premium APP rules all!

Which new roms ACS came out with?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
The new frozen, with no checkerboarding. EXT 4 Tom.
I was on syndicate rom on eclair. One of the only Tom's I've flashed because of kokanes presentation, and product. I flashed, it owned ..and i stayed with it. On 2.2 it'd smoother, and clean and simple. I'm sold. And I appreciate the rom.

Problem with CWM on ECO5

I did the OTA update to ECO5. I rooted/installed CWM using this. When I restart to CWM it goes through the initial setup, then backs up my files, then for some reason restores some files (which I don't want restored). After it is finished, I reboot the phone and it doesn't go past the Samsung screen. I have to stock flash, update, and root again. I did this 3x so far. I even deleted the CWM folder from my SD card which had the backup folder..what do I do?
Its backing up your files to convert you to an ext4 filesystem. Then it restores all the files. After its done you have to flash an ext4 compatiable kernel it it wont boot you. The stock kernel can not support ext4. So after its done flash whatever rom/kernel combo you want or just a kernel. Then your phone will boot up.

What kernel is this based on? I really like your recovery and I was wondering if I needed to flash the EK02 kernel again after updating to your recovery?

Any updates made to the recovery? On 1.0.0.0 wipe data does not appear to be working. Also when you backup to internal SD it skips android_secure because it is looking for it on internal SD.

[q] mtd install system reboot failure

ok please tell me what on earth went wrong here. I was stock deodexed el30 rom.. i tried install the zip of clean gb mtd, and when i did the system reboot, it rebooted right back to cwm 5 (the one that i currently have). am i missing something here? i thought when you go from a bml rom and install an mtd rom (other than cm7 or 9), that it should automatically convert.
The CWM that comes with MTD still says 5.0.2.7 even though it is modded for MTD. Did you change kernels? The reboot in the power menu may be broken for that kernel.

nope, i just installed the rom.. and decided to just go ahead a system reboot. should i also install the mtd kernel before rebooting? was that my mistake?
not all mtd Roms will auto convert however that one should. When you flashed the ROM did cwr reboot? It should have rebooted when converting to mtd. Maybe try reflashing zip

My guess is a bad download. You will need to Odin with repartition checked, then root then redownload the CleanGB 1.12 MTD version and reflash.
