[Q] app2sd on gingerbread leak - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Either this is common knowledge or all my app2sd apps are broke.
Is this something permitted on custom colonels?

Both are working for me? Occasionally I will get a can't move to sd on appstosd but if I hit it again it will move it. And Titanium has never caused me problems? Are you on a custom rom? Did you do any kind of data restore after updating to gingerbread? Have you tried clearing data and cache on titanium to see if it clears the force close?

Which Gingerbread ROM are you using? I had major issues with most. The only one that hasn't given me any issues and is my daily driver since it came out is EF02 Plus.

Clear data in both apps.

Where are you getting the insufficient memory message? Is it trying to update an app? If so there are some corrupted files or pieces of files on your phone. You need to uninstall the app and redownload it. If it is trying to get back an app you once had then use root explorer and search for any pieces of the program scattered about and delete them.

Old Market

I hate the new market but everytime I try to use the old market for any period of time it force closes on me and says object not found. Does anyone have a working one?

I think that they're trying to force people into using the new one. So certain commands aren't handled as well. But I have issues with the new one not allowing me to install my paid or free apps upgrades. It's aggravating.

you are correct sir most old styles will auto update to 3.1.5 unless you have the updater frozen then it will try to push the update thru systemupdates.apk(if u freeze it your old stuff will work FYI), & it gets confused bc the old style dont like that...
& thats the best reason i got lol

No FC's & Market works fine.
Just don't care for the new Market.

Definately stupid...smh, changed it back to stock and got everything to work...and even updated some apps I didn't even know were outdated...lol, also the movie tab came back in the market which dissapeared...I just thought the market knew the phone was rooted which is why it wasn there...so canging it back did actually more than I expected...thanks mane!
Here's how to get the old market back permanently.
Settings / applications / manage applications /market / remove updates
After doing this use MyBackup or Titanium to freeze the upater
Or just delete it.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
Deleting the market updater seems to cause problems but the biggest problem I have with any 2.x market is that after a while it starts saying object not found. I hate being forced to use something ugly
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I've never had any problems with it being deleted...except it says no connection but I had that even before deleting it. Once I hit refresh it comes back.
i also freeze the market.updater (right one?!) with TB, but after every reboot the new market comes again....

Google app process fc - gtalk not working

So I let my phones battery die all the way accidentally then this morning in getting some Google services fc and gtalk won't open. I'm on randomrom phoenix 2.2 rooted, everything else working perfectly, and battery life has been amazing. I tried reclaiming (after backup of course). To no avail and tried flashing a gapps.zip but that didn't help either. any ideas?

Does this fix, at least temporarily, all of the FC issues when on GB? Something this simple? I quit using the GB roms because those nasty FC issues.

[Q]Installed First ROM, fastest way to recover apps etc

I just installed my first rom. Its one the Calkulins EL29 one. I did a Nandroid backup and also a Titanium Backup. I'm new to all this so was wondering what is the quickest way to get all my apps and all that back. Sorry if this was asked before. Thanks.
In titanium press menu, then batch. Select user app + data. In minutes you're up and running. I would not advise restoring* system apps

Good to see a newbie asking questions instead of just doing things and bricking your phone. If your on GB and flashing to another GB rom, (using your nandroid backup) you can also boot into cwm and advanced restore your data as well . Because your new you should consider reading my guide to avoid bricking your phone if you decide to flash to ICS anytime soon

Thanks for the heads up my man. I'll definitely have to check out your guide. Are you running an ICS rom now? If so how is it?
Idk if it's worth it for you, but I'd highly recommend purchasing the pro version of titanium. I know its like $6 but the upgraded features are awesome.
For instance, what you're about to do, one of the upgrades would be not having to press install as it goes through each of your apps. You'd just press batch install and set your phone down
That's just one small feature of the upgraded. One of the only apps I had zero problem paying for!

If you flash a new rom then yes restoring system data can potentially cause problems. I never back up system data because I change roms to frequently.

Always a good idea to backup system data or you may not be saved someday. Luckily for us Samsung includes download for Odin, other devices you may not be so lucky, and without a full nandroid you may be screwed (happens on tabs all the time) happy flashing!

Flash New ROM / Install Apps in 10mins

I was reading through the threads over in the Samsung Galaxy S 3 forum today. I came across a very interesting thread about how to flash a new ROM and install all your apps in 10 mins. I will place a link to the thread below for everyone to have a read.
I was curious if anyone has tried this method? I would think this would be the perfect way to flash Nightlies if you use CM. Would save a lot of time. Almost seems too easy to be true.
Let me know your thoughts or experiences with this procedure. Thanks.

Yeah, I've done that in the past as well - I figured it was something along the lines of the Advanced Restore -> Restore Data. I'd only recommend it if you're flashing between two similarly based ROMs though.
It does work pretty well.

Ya, I figured it would work going from one nightly to the next or from AOKP to an update to AOKP. Awesome, thanks I will give it a try next time.

If you're going to restore your data right after flashing, why even wipe it in the first place? An even faster way is to just flash the rom with only wiping the caches.. To me it seems like it's the same thing.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Seems a little different. One's a dirty flash and you are just flashing a new ROM right over the old one. The other is doing a clean install of the newer ROM and then restoring data and settings. Like I said I haven't tried it myself. Read about it and was intrigued. Thanks for your response.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Restoring data is the same as not wiping... So why don't you just skip the wiping all together..
Theoretically you can just flash similar Roms without wiping but then you risk the chance of having bugs..
If you don't wipe then how can you ever be sure that it's the rom that is buggy or if it's caused by the data you restored..
I like my Roms the way I like my women..... Clean and smooth
I've always done a clean install and wipe beforehand. Probably will still follow the same procedure. Thanks.

I use titanium because I could pick and choose which apps to restore and choose which ones to restore data with. With apex, u can restore your desktop and with AOKP backup, you can restore all your settings. I say if I really tried, I can restore everything to my liking in about 15min. With all these tools, I no longer fear doing fresh installs

I'm the same way, I gotta flash the newest version to have the latest and greatest. It's been slow at work lately, I normally wait for the morning and start doing my install and setup at work LOL. With the wife and kids at home it's hard to find time sometimes in the evening to do all the setting up, troubleshooting/testing etc. I really enjoy it though, it has become a hobby for me at least. I want to learn more about Linux and Android though so I can do some of the developing myself.
