does anyone know if or could i have the start menu on the bottom? that would make it feel more like a PC.....
No.
Use Wisbar Advanced Desktop for that
What a wonderfully non-descriptive subject line.
It says absolutly nothing and gives no clue what the post is about.
It forces us to actualy open the message and read it to have any idea what the issue, question, or information actualy is.
A new low point has been reached.
To answer your question. Two ways come to mind to move the menu to the bottom so its more like a PC.
Ignoring the fact that, if this was actualy done, the softkeys would now be in the wrong place for the hardware keys and that this question doesn't have anything in particular to do with Windows Mobile 6.
1) turn the phone upside down
2) buy a PC and use the phone as a modem.
Those are the only ways I can think of.

Wow, what a wonderfully non-helpful post. It does not answer anything, and it forces us to read it just to figure that out.
A new low has been reached.
Next time u got nothin good to say, don't say anything at all.
@Zacch, ive been trolling these boards for a few months and havent seen anything of this nature. I'm not sure the phone can even support somethin like that, but if there was u would find it here.

deach01 does have a point, though. How many of us have time to actually read every single thread? I certainly don't. The only reason I read this one is because I was tempted to make a post similar to what deach01 said. If someone has a question, and they'd like to have people read the question and respond to it, PUT A REASONABLE SUBJECT on the message!
I can only think of two reasons why someone would post in a WM6 forum a subject that says "WM6" - and neither one of them is very complimentary.
The two biggest problems with public forums like this (as I see it) is A) People asking the same question over and over without looking through previous posts to see if it has already been answered, and B) People using vague or "catchy" subject lines, like "WM6" or "PLEASE GOD HELP ME!".
Well, now that I've broken one of my main rules for forum posting (i.e. keep on topic) I'll go back to work. I just wanted deach01 to know that he isn't alone in his frustration with this sort of nonsense.
Brian.
You actually can turn one of your softkeys to launch the start menu. Here's a few options:

Have you tried asking google?
Google knows a lot of things, & I think he might just know what a ROM is.
no i think hes mad at me cause hes not telling me anything about roms
You had a fight with google or something Mr. Stupid? May that is why Mr.Google is mad with Mr. Stupid
BTW, type in "what is a rom" in that stupid textbox at google.com to know what is a rom
The rom is a image file in your phone, just like you have a image "rom" in your pc, Vista or XP
is it a kind of program?
that cant be changed
is it then a program you install then you can choose if you want touchflo or others while you have both?
and google never shows me what im looking for so i hate him
don be so confident of your stupidity

the best thing is he started a thread too ...PLEASE CONSULT GOOGLE
i will try
but i hate that guy!
i think i got it now
but 1 last question:
can i have 2 installed at the same time or can i only have 1?
(can i shut one down and start the other like an ordinary program)
Nice try my friend...
Whatever, ROM is the name for the capital of Italy in german language. Or is it the acronym for Regional Office Manager?
Mr. Stupid, by reading those posts you had proven that you actually know how to read. So be so kind and instead of generating forum traffic put this skill to use.
SEARCH & READ!!!!!! and only then come back.
P.S. Maybe if you don't get it, it too serious of a topic? Start reading...

Could anyone point me to the correct tutorial to root your HTC Touch Pro 2 ?
I'v been reading up on the android builds past few days. I'm totally new to this.
I got android to work with the project android build. And i want to use Whatsapp.
But it won't let me open Whatsapp. 3rd party task manager is killing it. So i guess its ATK ? But i can't just uninstall it trough settings>applications etc. Same trough android market. I read somewhere you'd have to root it then. But i don't know how. Any help would be appreciated alot !!!.
If i'm not suppose to post this, because i haven't looked or w/e, fine delete this. But i did look. And if been reading alot of topics and iv seen alot of flaming just because of asking a question. might have been a stupid one, but still, people just want some help. Why not help out ? We all start somewhere. And im starting right here. haha.
Oh and if im totally off map by saying rooting, let me know how i can get whatsapp to work. Iv seen it works for others so im just waiting to fix mine. haha.
Anyway, great job on the forum and great builds for TP2.
Peace,
from the spacestronaut.
It is already rooted. Next time spend some time reading

well you didnt search enough nor read enough...and i started by reading and searching (only 2 posts in first year as member)
Like i said before, i did search the past few days, and i did read, but its not like theres a topic out there called "TP2 rooting". Or "how to get rid of preinstalled apps". So cool it. And help me out. That would be greatly appreciated it. i knew i shouldn't expect a mature response...

Well that's the problem, XDAndroid is rooted - but don't expect every app that works on native Android phones to work on these - this isn't exactly an approved or sanctioned port.

im not using the XDandroid build, im using the project android build. And i read somewhere in order for whatsapp to be working you need to get rid of ATK by rooting your phone and then get rid of the app (ATK). So, some are saying it should be rooted. And it's not like no one is running whatsapp on a HTC android mod. it should be working. but i can't seem to get rid of ATK. iv read other could just get rid of it trough settings>applications but i can only delete the updates. Please some real anwsers instead of saying things i allready know.
Hey,
first of all welcome to the xda-developers forum...
like u and i guess everyone i hate answers like some of the ones you got..
i think a froum is made to ask questiuons however that might be about...
and it took me month back in my old htc kaiser days to get the whole android thing.
so when you want to install apps that are not from the store then u have to check one checkbox first.
ull find it under settings->applications-> and there should be a checkbox that says unsigned apps or untrusted apps...something like that.
normally this page should pop up if u click on a app that u have on the sd card...
i hope that is what u asked for...
and the phone is already rooted whatever build u are using
and if u have any questions but dont want to ask them in the forum cuz u might think that u get answers that dont suit ure question just pm me

Hi, i appreciate your response. Thanks alot.
So it's allready rooted. Ok cool. Let me explain. I want to use Whatsapp. But when i open it, i get the 3rd party task manager is blocking it. And im guessing its the ATK. but i can't get rid of it. I know how to install unsigned and untrusted apps. But now i want to get rid of it. haha. Anyway, i shoot you a message maybe tomorrow to explain more i guess. A mod can close this, as i proberly won't get a straight answers anyway.

Your right, i don't know, that's why im asking... smh at the ignorance at this forum.
hey,
ok now i got what ure asking...
so then it is important what method u are using? do you have a system.ext2 file that you load with haret?
or do you have a partioned sd card with the android system on a ext2 partition.
when you have the whole system in a system.ext2 file you would need to unpack it, delete the .apk of the app, and then pack it into a .ext2 file again...
when you have the second method that just browse into the folder system/apps/ and delete the file...
that should work for every normal app but it is not easy to do it...

Well you certainly answered my questions with a confidence only stupidity can be responsible for.
FYI, there's a difference between ignorance & stupidity. Ignorant people just don't know. Stupid people know, but are willingly ignorant. You have all the information available to, yet you insist on being ignorant.
It's OK to ask questions - but if it has been answered before, answering the same questions over and over again gets old. So some of us will respond a little less amicably than others - 9 times out of 10, this was because the OP didn't do their due diligence.

I just sent you a pm. i don't load anything, i start winmo, open up, project android, hit boot, android starts... that's all i do. i don't have a system.ext2 file on my sd. if this method is "wrong" or dated, let me know where to get the newest build. seems like that is the problem ?
hm...so you have to have some files that are behind that...
and i would think that you have a system.ext2 file somewhere...
should be in the andboot folder on your sd card.
but in builds that are used now here that task manager you want to get rid of isnt used anymore...so i would suggest just try the xdandroid build and kernels or the neopeek version which is very fast and you have all files on a spare partition on your sd card.
if you want to get started with the neopeek build just check neopeek.com and then the forum. there are all the build he has developed and instructions how to install. if u have any questions about that just let me know...
i guess art your point it would be the easiest to switch to another build

Listen, i understand your point of view. Iv been reading up on alot of threads in the Touch Pro 2 section. And i saw alot of normal questions being asked. And there was alot of flaming just because of those questions. That's disrespect in my opinion. Because you guys now, just point a newb to the right place. I mean it's not that hard... or is it ? That might not have been in my OP but im sure you understand by now, i do want to learn. And to be honest, alot of those frequently asked questions aren't in the provided tutorials or aren't easy findable. Wich makes it totally legit to ask a question. Forgive me for not reading 1000 pages of a thread. I only wanted a quick response to my question. A url to the right place to continue to search for a fix. and to learn. not to piss you guys off. Because it's allready been done about a million times. Again, i do understand your attitude, but give a new guy a chance to learn.

I guess if your whole issue is ATK, then just use a newer build. I don't think ATK has been included in any of the 2.2 builds, but it hasn't been in a build for a while. So I'm guessing your build is old if you still have ATK on there.

its a double-edged sword this kinda thing, because its easy for both sides it is just tedious and requires an abnormal amount of patience which some of us (like myself) have little of to begin with
also there are times, like this, that a noob cant simply be pointed in the right direction
all that said i agree with nick, just use xdandroid for tp2 especially since that is what the people around here are most accustomed to
So I am new with the Android world.
I got Blazn up and running, but that's all where I am at lol.
So i see all those extra information that I am not knowledgeable about (not ignorant so people don't start flaming) , so I am going to call myself a NOOB when it comes to Android and learning bit by bit everyday.
So long story short, You guys got WhatsApp up and running properly?
Because I heard back in the 2.1 eclair , WhatsApp was not working correctly.
If working, what alterations have you guys done to make it run (if any needed).

Ok, after a quick google search I see what it is... why not just use Google Voice? Seems like a much better alternative IMHO.
Read my erlier post on this for more info on how I found it, but heres my new commands I have found. I have tried them and they seem to work for me. I want someone else to try them also and see if they work for them.
Commands:
1. %systemroot%\system32\wpd_ci.dll,-100
Im looking into more and I will post when I get them. Let me know what you see if/when you try this commands! Also go into the phones Browser to do this.
whats this supposed to do?
Honestly I am not sure Im going to do a further search and test of commands like this. The string though and the fact that when you put it in your browser it actually pulls something up that isnt a webpage is rather puzzeling because I get a blank screen.
hmm... yeah it's a little strange that it doesn't bing it like it does other stuff. my first thought was that the string was too long or had invalid characters but it just bings everything else.
how exactly did you find this?
Here's step by step:
1.Plug in kin to a windows 7 PC.
2.open devices and printers.
3.open kin properties.
4.open advanced.
5.scroll down the list of info and file pathes.
gr8t
I approve this stuff.
Unfortunately, i have not my kin beside me atm, so i cannot have a peek right now (doh!).
Hoping that we would be able to figure out new stuff.
I would want to read from the samsung memory chip too, but that's outta my reach for now hehehehe.

I can possibly look into the Samsung chip...Awesome find though huh? Glad I tore apart my old one
I have been looking for more in the windows device center without much luck I have a couple other ideas since this things commands seem to be like windows. im going to try %appdata% and others like it when i can.
It isnt a command, sillies.
%systemroot%\system32\wpd_ci.dll,-100 is not a command.
its an icon file path.
%systemroot% looks in the system root folder (Windows)
system32 looks in the folder "system32"
wpd_ci.dll is the dll containing the icon and when you add ,-100
wpd_ci.dll,-100 tells it to grab the icon id-ed as 100 from the dll file wpd_ci.dll
also, just because it has 100 does not mean there are 100 icons in the file. 100 is the icon ID.
example: %SystemRoot%\system32\wpdshext.dll,-701
in wpdshext.dll there is not 701 icons, but only about 9 or 10. BUT, the 701 reffers to a specific icon id-ed as 701 in that file.
UPDATE:
here are images that demonstrate my point. (must rebuild links)
this shows that in wpd_ci.dll there is only 1 icon, so we can assume its id is 100 as referred to by the ,-100.
i.imgur com/7UtnG.jpg
this second image shows that the icon it referred to is used for the device icon with device manager, because, as you can see in the image, my kin shows up in device manager with the icon.

Seeing that this user has only posted 12 messages, I'm guessing this was among their first 10. Last I remember, XDA requires 10 messages to be posted by a user in order to get some kind of further permissions, although I don't remember what, although that was back on the old forum software. These days there are also achievements to get "XP" and "levels", and that might've been one.
Long story medium, the user likely posted nearly useless information to get their post-count up to 10. As his only useful comment says in the OP "no thanks". I'm not even downloading something that I don't know what I'm expecting, much less looking in the zip or doing anything else, and some of the settings accessible via the dialer code are likely dangerous unless you know exactly what you're doing, so without actual instructions detailing what the code has to do with the title of the thread, I wouldn't bother.
I'm tempted to report the thread. Normally I wouldn't bother as this kind of thread from new users is a dime a dozen but it's pretty blatantly a misleading thread title without more information, and with no description of what the file is supposed to be, and the only words in the OP being "no thanks" just screams "what the bloody hell" to me.

Probably the author cannot write a tutorial in English, so if someone could help, it would be very cool. It might work after all
I have looked into the file and it's generic code to enable VOLTE ( kind of a fix ) nothing suspicious in the file. Lol some of the xmls in the zip are from Samsung's phone. If you don't know what to or how to enable VOLTE. Don't download the app. Although Pixel 6 and Pro supports VOLTE out of the box. In my instance I have enabled E-Sim and can see option for calls over WIFI which worked just fine. The OP has just copied files from other thread and posted here. Makes no sense. Btw username checks out You can cross reference the settings posted in xmls's to your phone.

i'm sorry my english is not good.
I tried to change a setting ... then reboot ... but the change gets undone ... I guess that's sorta normal as the underlying XML files are in read only storage (guessing). So this is probably un-usable to make permanent changes.

as i know tht, there is a xml file contains all the carriers which are available in volte and 5g, but it could only be modify in root.
Has anyone managed to do this? It would be very helpful for a person who doesn't want to root the phone for the time being and lives outside the countries supported by Google

我的手機現在壞了,沒辦法測試,在返廠修了。。那是我root後提取出來的文件,並不是三星的文件,是pixel6固件提取出來的。
My phone is broken now and I can't test it, those files were extracted before I rooted it
