It's finally here...
Samsung's official Middle East Gingerbread ROM 2.3.3 with full Arabic support for the Galaxy Tab.
Code: P1000 - JPJP9
This rom image is specifically intended for developers to tinker around with and not for regular users. This rom image is untouched and does not contain any of the enhancements/additions seen in custom roms.
This rom image has been extracted from a recently updated Galaxy Tab via Kies. Kies pushed the JPJP9 update, and the rom image was simply dumped.
This is not a Beta... It is an actual final release of the official Arabic Samsung rom for the Galaxy Tab.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK !!!
http://www.MegaShare.com/3370075
As always use Odin v1.7 to install.
Enjoy, and hope to see great cooked roms out of this one

The link provided by @wakady demonstrates the new rom while in action. The honeycomb skin/theme shown is a seperately installed MOD and does not come with the official rom.
Hope this clarifies...

Theoretically it should work... But I'm not responsible for any unexpected results from the upgrade...
If your tab is an International/Middle East version, then it should work fine...
Actually it won't as this firmware is missing the bootloaders. Flash a stock gingerbread firmware first then this one.
Hello Experts!
Just a question of caution before i upgrade my Tab.
I have a stock Galaxy Tab so its not rooted or anything.
Do i just download Odin 1.7 and the Arabic Rom and flash my Tab?
Any advice before i begin?
Thanks
If you're on Froyo ROM Flash Chainfire's ROM first as it contains bootloaders. If you are already on gingerbread then flash away
I'm still on Froyo 2.2.
Does this ROM allow arabic to be displayed properly, meaning that the letters are connected?
I hate to sell my Tab just to get the Ipad for its native ability to read arabic.
and what are bootloaders good for? can i upgrade to this arabic ROM without installing Chainfire's ROM first?
Gingerbread has its own signed bootloaders for it to boot. This firmware here doesn't contain them. If you flash it it will not boot and you only get screen corruption.
A safe alternative is that you can do it at your local samsung service center.
Is this the rooted one available at ce4arab.com forum?
or is it completely original kernel with original Samsung recovery menus?
ok thanks for the advice.
any chance u've tried the rom out? could you tell me if the arabic letters are connected properly?
thanks

if u need any assistance let me know
can you please upload another link to the firmware as this one seems to be not working and if you have any idea about how to install arabic to 2.3.3 insted of flashing the whole firmware that would be great.

So steps to GB ROM:
1. Root the device - *done*
via z4root as superoneclick doesn't work.
How to root
Where to get z4root
Please note the temporary root on z4 doesn't appear to work but the perm root does work (this per the got root?) application.
2. Make a ROM back up - *done*
Progress Notes:
Clockworkmod *DOES* support p1010 development thread / info link
Please consider making a donation to Skin1980 for his hard work in porting CWM to this device.
He is still working on EXT4 support for our device to increase the speed so donations will help you help him
*** EDIT *** Please read the development thread in step 2 for a Ginger Bread ROM for the p1010 - yes it is European ROM but reports indicate it is working in multiple US devices.
3. Confirm the backup/restore procedure works and post the stock rom in progress
4. Determine / address boot loader situation *Appears to be unsigned*
5. Edit Samsung GB ROM (Euro or otherwise) to have root and/or customizations.

This one will prove the trickiest I guess, since there are no official GB roms. It would be great though, this would open up the door too to Honeycomb or even ICS!!
The good news is that as far as I can tell bootloaders are unsigned!
if you build Rom, thank all of you bro
Let's try to do gingerbread? I can be the tester, i have all stock firmwares and stock kernel. And i know some things about it.
Awesome! Will be watching this thread with anticipation!
I have both the p1000 (mine) and p1010 (wifes).
Mine is rooted and custom rom but have been eagerly awaiting root and roms for the p1010.
Stock Gingerbread Rom available for p1010
Just in case you haven't seen, today the above rom was put on sammobile.com, and skin1980 has a cf-root for it, I have it installed and its a bit of an improvement, Enjoy and ill be following your progress, be it custom ginger or hc,

overcome rom porting to p1010
I am just thanking, can we port overcome rom to p1010.
Is there someone can flash custom rom via cwm? I have tried many times, it 's not work. If anyone can do it, please share your ideas!

Due to a gingerbread update being released and me getting an ipad2 over the holidays, I have personally stopped work on this project. However, if you read the other threads you can see team mad is working on getting CM7 and possibly higher working on the p1010. Given the common hardware and existing GB update this is a realistic goal.
Goodbye and good luck from the dark side (IOS).
Hello,
I am on CM 7.2 and wish to downgrade to 2.2.
I am German and need the German Stock Rom. If anybody could help me with downgrading and finding the right bootloader I would be very thankful.
Hi, if you want to go down, just flash stock 2.2 with Odin.
You can download the package here:http://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31
Flashing instrucktions http://droidangel.blogspot.com/2011/05/procedure-how-to-flash-updateupgrade.html
EDIT: Make sure you DL the european version. It has german language.
Thank you. I tried it some time ago and my Gio bricked because of the wrong bootloader? Whatever this is what they said to me. But now I am not quite sure which 2.2.1 Rom I should pick.
Can you tell me which one is best?
I think it's because its one packaged. Is there a Froyo Rom that isn't one packaged?
If its one package, tick the ''one package option in Odin and just select your file in one package slot.
I dont think that One package ROM would brick your phone easier than Multi package one.
I would take S5660XXKC6 Rom since its latest Froyo (2.2) for Gio
If you bricked earlier, it may be wrong ROM for your device.
Ah I got it. Thank you.
I just downgraded my Gio from CM 7.2 to official 2.3.6. It was one package and didn't brick my set. Just follow the procedure and you're good to go.
Hello,
Could you give me more details on the procedure? Btw, where did you find the link for the official 2.3.6?
Thanks
Hi Guys
I have my Galaxy Y for about 4 month now and I would like to test some new rom's.
I’m totally new on this section and have some questions about backing up roms etc.
Fist my specifications if it helps:
rooted android 2.3.5. Due to my provider (T-Mobile) im not able to flash a newer firmware thru kies atm.
PDA: BOKJ1
PHONE: BOKI3
CSC: DTRKJ2
How I make a backup from my firmware? I will test new Roms and I eventually will go back to my stock rom to get updates thru kies. I often read about clockwork mod and also I often read that cwm is not full compatible with SGY. Which version will work? Or is there another way to make a backup?
Which rom is atm the best?
I’m looking for some more performance, features and eventually a little better look and feel.
I cast an eye at Creeds rom but I heard that he is not developing it any more.. too bad...
atm this is the rom I would prefer.
Is there any other rom that is better than this? The hybrid rom looks so.. hmm I don’t know.. I think its not my cup of tea.. but maybe I give it a try
Or should I just flash a newer 2.3.6 stock rom on my device? In this case which one? There are so many and I have no clue which are the newest and which are fit my needs. I live in Germany so can I simple flash any other country firmware like India etc? Whats about the language of the menu?
Thanks for Ur help and I have to say sorry... English is not my mother language so plz don’t bash me if I spelt something wrong
First off, welcome to XDA Developers, bro.
I would suggest upgrading your firmware to 2.3.6 first. Check out Doky73's thread and I'm sure you will be able to find the latest European firmware there.
For backing up your current firmware, grab a copy of skin's CWM scattered all over the threads in the Development Section.

I have done that and I have no clue which are the best... thats all personal opinions. Nobody really says a thing over performance, memory usage etc..
I have read about 35-40 sites in the creeds rom thread and I give it a try but is scares me that its not developt anymore and that some people say that 2.1 is buggy.

There you have the oficial CyanogenMod 7 rom support, instalation and development issues support.
In my opinion it is the best 2.3 alternative rom for p350.
The steps i know only in portuguese, but i believe i will find it in this link too.
The factory installed apps, the most one you will install with a Google package inside this link too.
The others you can download again on play store.
following a different guide i was trying to install CM Invasion V2 ROM.. i never got to the flashing ROM part... i was backing up the current ROM unsing ROM manager and my cell fone bricked... after banging my head... looking for solutions on the net and again banging my head... i finally was able to revive my cell fone (using kdz updater)... all this is a risky business
can anyone give me a near perfect guide for flashing ROM without using ROM manager.. please..
You'll have to flash a custom recovery first. Amonra is very stable. Then you can make a nandroid backup of your current rom from the recovery for you to go back to. Flash the rom you like and enjoy. If you need to do back to your original rom, just restore back from your nandroid backup

now flash recovery by going on thread then do steps
for flashing roms do following steps on recovery
1.creat nandroid backup only once not for everytime you flash
2.then go in wipe section and wipe all data
3.then go to flash zip manu and find rom then flash
4.sometimes some rom needs advanced steps for flashing like cm 7 official needs to format/system(steps for it it mentioned by the developer on his thread)
done reboot then enjoy flashing.
hope this will help you...........................
in future do not install recovery from rom manager it will brick your phone untill it gets perfect for our device
Remember we have a wiki page for this phone with an all-in-one guide for modifying it (rooting, recovery, custom rom installation, troubleshooting). I try to keep it updated, nice and clean (kinda hard some times).
About Android versions: The Optimus ME comes with Froyo (2.2) there is no other official firmware for it. CyanogenMod 7 is based on Gingerbread (2.3) which now has official support and is working pretty good now (yes, previous versions were slow, buggy but now they're pretty stable)... Honeycomb (3.0) is only for tablets, so it's not coming to P350. CyanogenMod 9 is based on Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0), which for this device is still a work in progress, so don't expect a timeline nor a soon release. CyanogenMod 10 based on Jelly Bean (4.1) is still a myth for the P350...
I hope to have answered your questions...

I've used this site many times, so it should work. All you need to do is download the correct rom for your region.

Here is a guide, in case you need it:

Sorry about the "DOT"s, I'm not allowed to post links yet
PS. Don't download any Froyo roms, the gio gets stuck in a boot loop if anything below GB is flashed
Froyo ? for me the best android version for our gio. With this version we could record in 640*480 nad the battery usage was less then now

unfortunately, it's just not compatible. I've tried going back to 2.2, but after getting a boot loop and everyone else confirming this, it's not worth trying something that just won't work. You will have to go to gingerbread, sorry
