AOSP Gingerbread Camera? - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there an easy way to install the gingerbread camera on the epic? I get the feeling it performs better than the samsung one.

Not without an entirely AOSP Rom. And no it doesn't perform better, the camera is just about the only thing Samsung got right over AOSP.

And codec support, don't forget that.

CM7 or MIUI coming?

I was looking but didn't see anything. Was just wondering if anything was in the works. Thanks
Nothing afaik, but MIUI will most likely not support 4g tho.

I often wonder why everyone is so excited about the CM roms. I've used them in the past and have never taken a liking to them. I'd take the Synergy roms any day over the CM roms.
CM7 ftw

CM is awesome but CM support also opens the door for general AOSP support.
And everyone knows that AOSP is superior.
To the op: The SGS2 has CM support so I would definitely expect CM7 for this phone.

I actually dislike AOSP for the most part, although I guess I do see the draw to it. I've always just found that CM roms left me wanting more out of it.

I used to feel like that...but that was before things like the "notification power widgets" and all the other options now standard.
CM7 probably offers the largest combinations of different choices for things like lockscreens and so forth.
The theme is the only thing that I believe needs modification.
I use Honeybread and I change the font and it's lovely.
Never ran cm before. We never had it on the epic to where it was stable.
The Evo3D Killer!!!
Looking forward to MIUI. There is a rumor going around that a MIUI US developer is getting the Epic 4g Touch and will be porting MIUI for us. I hope its true.

lithid and stiffpliff mentioned getting the phone (both MIUI devs from MIUI.us)
I'm hoping for MIUI. I'm using RR Launcher overtook of starburst rom and it's running nicely.

FTFY.
MIUI will never ever ever ever have Wimax. Sprint hasn't even rolled out any new sites with it because they know it's a flop so there's almost zero chance of convincing the Chinese it's important to add to their ROM.
who cares, 3g does the job more than well enough, and there is so little wimax coverage its downright laughable. I just want the rest of the MIUI functionality and look because that rom is absolutely phenomenal

Buying a Tmobile Galaxy S2

Hey guys ill be coming to the Galaxy S2 device from the lacking mytouch 4g slide im buying one for 300 usd with a seidio case and clip is that a good deal and what are some of you guys dislikes and likes about this phone am i getting a good deal?
Yeah if its in good condition then 300-350 is normal for a used one. The case is a bonus.
I would check the screen and make sure it is not terrible....some are worse than others. Some have vertical lines and blobs. A google search will reveal a lot of information on the subject.
you'll want to check if it's Korea manufactured. Those seem to be of lesser quality than the China ones.
I'm just sayin!

Hit the thank you button. The phone has no notification led which is annoying to me. Also we dont have any 100% working AOSP build which sucks. However, it is a great phone. As far as roms go... I personally think that Darkside's Digital Warfare is the best and everything works. Otherwise you can just run a debloated stock.
Is this phone worth comming from a Mytouch 4g slide? for 300 or should i just wait. Do all the galaxy s2 phones have the same development and progress compaired to sprints and att? or is this one behind
phone is definitly worth it and right now anything that M & S is putting out is outstanding you have a few choices as far as roms he has Paradox 2 which is seriously stunning and then you have Tuesday Blue Ray right now which is the fastest and best looking rom ive ever seen go ahead and get the phone you will not be disapointed

I'm confused 1st you say there is no 100% working AOSP build, then you state that Darkside's Digital Warfare rom is the best and everything works. I don't know what the difference is between a Android Open Source Project build and a Read only Memory when used in this context?
Can you please explain it to me?
I won't modify my phone unless I can have full functionality.

AOSP refers to ROMs that are 100% stock with absolutely zero touchwiz. These are roms released straight from Google to the nexus phones, cyanogenmod, and miui. While we have booting versions of all 3, the only one that is kind of close to working is CM7 thanks to Eugene. We have an AOSP ics ROM from raver that definitely has potential but isn't there yet. Miui is the least developed of the 3.
If you're okay with touchwiz (you pretty much have to be at this stage in development), almost all the roms are completely functional but I personally like digital warfare the best for stability and battery life.
The phone is definitely worth switching to. I've been having lots of fun with mine.

So according to jahrule none of these stock roms work 100%, that is what confused me. You would think that OEMs would not put out betas for the consumer to fiddle around with and complain about. I only want as stated previously 100% working roms. What does not work with the digital warfare rom?

That is incorrect. Basically every gingerbread ROM has absolutely zero issues. Three only exception I would say is beastmod which I think has a few bugs. There are zero issues with digital warfare.

Are you illiterate? AOSP does not mean stock. The stock roms for any galaxy phone have touchwiz. AOSP is just android. No bloat, no touchwiz, just android. Al of the touchwiz roms function 100%, except beastmod as stated before. The 3 AOSP roms are not functioning at 100%. CM7 is the closest AOSP rom to fully functional.

I can see the confusion. Stock from Samsung has touchwiz and works completely. Stock from Google is AOSP and is not fully functional.

[Q] Aosp Camera

Hey guys so ive tried about every rom on galaxy s3 tmobile now and i wanna ask if the stock camera is better then the aosp camera. Because after using both the stock seems sharper and faster to me. Does anyone here know if its true or not?
Of course stock camera is way better and faster also.
Stock is way better. I really wish the cm team would update it.

and what exactly is touchwiz/ benifits, also could i see longer battery life and perhaps enhanced performance? stuff like that? thanks
You'll probably see a bit smoother performance due to the lack of bloat... but i don't think it'd be anything astronomical. Battery life could possibly be better. The downside is you seem to lose some functionality with the camera. Last i checked, the camera in CM10 doesn't have any of the Burst Shot modes or any of the other modes the TouchWiz camera has, nor do i remember it having that lag-free shutter we all love.

ok, well i think ill stick with what ive got for now, im happy with it so far, got somewhat jellybean lol and it runs alright, and camera is kinda nice since it does take Alright pics,
so right now i suppose i dont really see any actual reasons to root this sucker yet
Yea.... i've tried the CM10 nightlies (thought not for a while now).... i've tried ParanoidAndroid.... i've also tried Task & Ktoonsez AOKP ROM... but i still seem to always come back to Aristodemos. Though now i'm thinking about installing CodeName Android to see what it's like on the S3, since i liked it on my Atrix 4G.
I believe the camera on cm10 now has burst shot. Not as good as stock but its an option. I have tried a few jelly's, cm10..AOKP..The one thing that does ruin it for me is camera. Love the stock camera.
no bloatwares and more customization applied to pure jelly bean rom.

[Q] My Camera Quality Decreases After Root & Installing CM...How to fix this?

Hey guys
After i rooted my phone and installed CM, i have realized that the camera quality has tremendously decreased. Is there anything i can do about that ? Is there a way i can still keep the great camera quality of the original stock rom ?
Thanks for the help.
Nope, what you see is what you get.. Only thing I can suggest is to try a different camera app.. Lenovo camera app seems to work a little better than the cm one

The stock camera will not work on AOSP roms.
Its one of the sacrifices to going to AOSP
Oh okay got it.
Damn, that's a huge loss though.
I'm trying to upgrade to the S5 and one of their best features i want to use is the camera. Now i feel a way that after i root it, i will lose the camera feature. That sucks.

Rooting will not cost you the camera. You can root the stock rom. You can even get customized version of the stock rom that have extra features. All with the camera.
Ita AOSP roms that dont have it.

Ohhhh okay.
So if i were to get a customized version of the stock rom, then i would be able to use the stock camera, and the quality would be just as when i first got the phone? Is that correct ?
Thanks in advance. Sorry I'm a novice.

Wow this is awesome then. The only issue i've had with Cyanogen rome is the fact that I'm losing quality on the camera.
Quick question, just like Cyanogenmod....what are some devs names where i can get the stock rom or customized version of the stock rom?
Thank you very much guys !

All are good, just look for NB4 in the title if you want one based on stock 4.4.2, MK2 for 4.3 and you get the idea.. That's how you know they are touchwiz roms

This is the one I've been using for like 2 months now

Don't know if you know but you can use any rom for the 3 carriers of our galaxy s4 with the snapdragon processor. Tmobile, the international gt i9505( not the i9500 that's the exynos processor, att
So I have all the threads for them favorited on my forum app (tapatalk). So I can see what's out there. All of them have different developers
